prologue
Savannah Stone appeared to be one of the most brilliant witches of her age, along with Lily Evans. She was, of course. Appearance has a way of deceiving even the best, though. To anyone who didn't truly know her, she was quiet, a rebel in her own way. She didn't care about anything or anyone.
It appeared that she didn't have to try for her good grades. It appeared as if she didn't have a care in the world. It appeared as if she didn't have to try for anything she ever received. It appeared that she didn't have a heart.
That's what she wanted them to see. She wanted to be a mystery. She wanted to leave everyone wondering.
Did she want everyone to see how broken she truly was? Did she want everyone to see how some days it was a struggle to even pretend that everything was okay? Of course she didn't. It was easier to fit into people's descriptions of her.
Savannah Stone spent her days leaning back in her chair with her feet propped up on the table and a Sugar Quill in her mouth. A genuine smile never graced her lips. The most one could get was a small smile, one that never quite reached her bright green eyes.
Her hair was always crazy, with slight blonde waves that did whatever they wanted. She didn't mind; she heard some say that it made her look quite rebellious and wild, adding on to her reputation.
She always wore either her favorite denim jacket or her brown leather jacket, both gifts from her brother. She also heard people say that it made her look like the rebel she was.
So you see, Savannah Stone made people see what she wanted them to see.
Her brother, Dalton Max Stone, was the only person who knew that Savannah was broken.
He was her rock, the only thing that kept her going. They'd been close since they were born. Where most siblings would bicker, they didn't. Dalton was extremely protective over her, and she was just as protective over him.
While Savannah was quiet and seemingly rebellious, Dalton was outgoing and athletic. He was on the Quidditch team, a beater alongside Sirius Black.
They were polar opposites, but Savannah thought that that only made them closer.
The Stone siblings were quite a mystery to all of Hogwarts, even the professors.
