Chapter 16
Fans. Roof. Door.
Alianna remembered all the entry points she pointed out to Jax. She knew he would have taken her advice and so that's where she directed the men. She stood alone in the night as they trooped past her getting into position. The knowledge that she was practically leading this attack repulsed her and it was a faint reminder of what she had done to earn their compliance.
She bit the inside of her cheek, wishing she had paid more attention to the blueprints that day. Not to help Marino but so she could make sure that Jax or whoever was in the warehouse made it out alive. Alianna hopped down as the last set of men trudge past. She could see the men lurking in the shadows, hungrily awaiting her signal. Alianna plucked a bandana out from the back pocket of a man. He turned around angrily, gun at the ready to be shoved in the face of the thief. However that gun was lowered once he saw who he was dealing with. Alianna smirked lightly before breaking into a silent run as she approached the eastern corner of the warehouse.
She snuck up behind the guard as he appeared and hit him firmly on the back of his head, knocking him unconscious. She gripped the bandana between her teeth as she grabbed on the drainpipe and hoisted herself up, planting her feet on the wall. Alianna walked up the wall with the help of the pipe as quickly as she could. Even though this corner was a blind spot within the warehouse, she could easily be seen from the outside. Her fingers grasped the ledge and she pushed herself off the wall and onto the roof.
Staying low and in the shadows, she looked over to the air vent. Thankfully there were no guards and Alianna shook her head. It was predictable but it was still good to cover your bases. She slunk over to the skylight and looked inside. The corridor below was empty, she waited a couple minutes to see if anyone would come by. Once she saw no movement below, she stood up and stepped back. She took a deep breath as she tied the bandana around the lower half of her face and clicking the safety off her gun.
Alianna was never a religious person but tonight she said a short prayer as she aimed at pulled the trigger.
The gunshot and the shattering glass was the signal for Marino mayhem to begin. Gunfire blasted through the night as Alianna jumped through the skylight and landed on her feet. She ducked into a corridor, finger curled around the trigger as she waited with baited breath for the sound of footsteps in her direction.
She heard distant shouting over the sound of gunfire as bullets flew from both sides. Alianna moved quickly keeping the walls as much as possible. She checked every corner, every door as quickly but thoroughly as she could, her heart pounding furiously knowing that each door she opened could end this.
Shouts and gunfire brought her to a halt at the top of the stairwell. She ducked down, staying hidden and peered out. The shouts became clearer and her stomach rolled when she heard the familiar tone of Evan's voice.
She jumped over the railing and looked into the corridor. Evan was under fire from three of Marino's men, flanked by two of his own men. Marino's men managed to wound the two Boveri men and as they neared Evan; Alianna sprang into action.
She walked into the corridor and without a second thought she shot the three men straight in the back of their heads. The men slumped to the floor and Alianna looked up, unsurprised to see Evan looking at her wide eyed. Their eyes met and she could feel Evan trying to figure out who she was. Alianna gestured to the Boveri men with her gun, wordlessly telling to check on the groaning men.
Alianna kept her ears open for footsteps as she reloaded her gun. She bit her lip behind the bandana contemplating what to do about Evan. She needed to get him out of the way before he was killed or injured. She stepped silently behind Evan as he tied a makeshift bandage around the second guy's leg. Once the knot was secured, Evan looked up at the pale man. Alianna took a deep breath and brought the butt of her gun down on the back of Evan's head.
She caught him, stooping down and struggling a bit under his weight as his eyes rolled back into his head. She propped him up against the wall next to the man he just tended to. She watched as his eyes fluttered open and closed before finally slamming shut.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice muffled by the bandana, "but you'll be safer here."
"Traitor."
Alianna's blood ran cold as she turned around slowly to see a familiar face. The man whose toe she shot off stood there and before she could say anything there was a loud bang of a gun. She flattened herself to the floor as she heard the bullet embed itself into the wall. She fired a couple of shots but he moved swiftly from side to side, using her own technique against her.
Alianna rose to her feet and fired again this time the bullet landing in his shoulder. The man roared, and landed a kick in her stomach. She doubled over as she coughed and tried to regain her breath but he kicked again but this time it landed square in her jaw, throwing her head back. She blinked trying to focus through the haze of pain as she raised her arm and blindly pulled the trigger with her last bullet. Her hand shook and the bullet flew into the open air.
Alianna gasped as a searing pain erupted from side. She looked down slowly as the man pulled the knife from her body. She felt the blood gush from her side and her vision clouded. The last thing she saw was his sneer before she blacked out.

Alianna gasped as a wave of cold water hit her and startled her awake. She blinked as her pulse raced. She tried to get her hands to wipe the water out of her eyes only to find them restrained with rope. She pulled against the restraints but it only cut into her skin, her feet were bound too and she was suspended from the ceiling.
A sole light flickered on and her blood ran cold as it glinted harshly over Marino's silver hair. Alianna kept her mouth closed as Marino twirled his whip calmly in his hand, the light bounced off the blades nestled within the rope. She held her breath as he stood up.
"You were such a perfect girl Alianna," Marino said quietly as he walked towards her. "I remember the day I first saw you, born into the filth of a shack. I saw your potential, the possibilities of what you could be. Your parents couldn't afford to feed themselves far less for you so I took you. I gave you food, education and taught you useful skills for life and this is how you repay me?"
"You turned me into a monster," Alianna spat at him, "a weapon. I would've preferred that life over this."
She braced herself for the unavoidable blow and sure enough her left cheek burst with pain. She opened her eyes, chest heaving as she stifled her cry of pain.
"I picked you out of all those other killers because I saw that you could something more," Marino traced the whip all over her arms, leaving bloodied scratches in its wake. "You should be proud, to kill almost a 100 men is no common task." Alianna grunted as the whip cut into her skin, she could feel the blood running down her arms. "My precious girl," he continued with false concern, "you were so perfect for me, following my words without a second thought. But today is the day any parent dreads, the day their child fights back. But unlike normal parents, their children cannot be replaced." He tilted her head up with the staff of the whip, "But you can. Don't worry little Sicario, you won't die today, you still have your job to do." He reached up and cut the rope with a knife before turning around and walking off, the light shutting off behind him.
Her heart pounded wildly as she looked around the black darkness. The roar of blood in her ears made it difficult for her to hear. She kneeled down, easily undoing the knots of the restraints and once they were free she took a tentative step in the direction Marino left.
Alianna stumbled forward as a metal pipe hit her back. She turned around and swung her fist but it came into contact with nothing. She grunted as blow landed on her stomach and she doubled over. She was shoved to the ground gasping for air and a kick landed on her chest. She struck out with her arms and legs but it was in vain. She crossed her arms over her face as kick after kick landed on her chest, her stomach and her legs. She knew that these had to be the men she trained as the only sound in the room was boots meeting her body. She tried rolled over to take some of the pain off her front but her world went silent as the steel tip boot came crashing into her skull.

The crash of a bottle shocked Alianna into consciousness. She struggled to open her eyes and focused as well as she could with her blurred vision. She was in an alley way, in the rougher side of town down the block from her apartment. Her eyes glazed over as the pounding in her head got worse and she struggled to breathe. She took a breath and curled her toes, thankful that she that they still worked. With much difficulty, she managed to stand, propping herself on the wall as she regained her breath.
Slowly but surely she plodded along up the block to her apartment but with every step she took the pain intensified and it became harder to breathe. Alianna nearly cried in relief as the stoop to her building came into sight and she tried harder to reach there but it was too much for her body to handle.
And for the countless time that night, she blacked out.
