Chapter 9

Hi. How are you all doing today? I have a new chapter for you all to read. It's going to have a flashback in it that includes another one of my fav Kpop ships from SEVENTEEN. You guys can guess what it is since I don't actually think you know. I haven't written much of this ship other than maybe one or two one-shots or included them as side characters, which I'm doing again. Anyway, back to the story, this chapter was fun to write so I hope you enjoy it.

Hyunjin sighs as he enters the house. It's late. The sun is down and Hyunjin is fairly tired. He tosses his backpack on the floor, planning to take it to his room later. Hyunjin can hear the sound of his parents, and what he assumes is a movie playing, coming from the living room. He makes his way down the hall and sure enough spots his parents snuggled up on the couch watching some drama. "I'm home," Hyunjin says as he walks closer and plops onto the couch. Jimin smiles at the boy and grabs the remote, pausing the show. "You're home late. Where did your uncle drag you?" Namjoon asks.

Hyunjin grins, "We went shopping for a couple hours and then we went to have some barbecue!"

"Hm, did you buy anything good?" Jimin asks. Hyunjin nods and grabs a pair of aviator glasses that hang from the loop of his shirt. "Uncle Tae got a matching one!" Hyunjin exclaims, slipping the glasses on, "I also found this really cool shirt and a hat. And Uncle Tae insisted on getting me these rings."

"Sounds like something your Uncle would do," Jimin smiles, ruffling his son's hair. Hyunjin grins and Jimin lifts up the blanket, allowing the boy to move closer and snuggle with his parents. "Speaking of Taehyung, where is he? Did he really just drop you off without coming to say hi to his lovely older brother?" Namjoon asks.

"He was in sort of a rush," Hyunjin explains, "Something about stocks suddenly dropping."

"Ah, the life of a CEO," Jimin comments, "Taehyung never catches a break, does he?" Hyunjin and Namjoon both shake their heads, knowing how hard Taehyung works. He's always doing something for the company. It stinks that they rarely get to spend time with the man, but Taehyung is nothing if not dedicated. "How was school?" Namjoon asks, "Was it too much?"

Hyunjin shakes his head, "It was just school and I was fine. I told you guys that you didn't have to worry."

"You know we still will," Jimin says, "Especially since it's been a while since you last had a panic attack." Hyunjin nods and lets out a sigh. He knows it's been a while and he had hoped it had been the end, but it's never really that easy. Hyunjin looks to his parents and suddenly remembers something that happened earlier that morning. "Do you guys remember your old friends Jaebum-ssi and Jinyoung-ssi?" Hyunjin asks. Namjoon stiffens and Jimin sits up straight. Hyunjin frowns, not understanding why his parents were acting like this. "How do you know those two?" Namjoon asks.

"They came up to me before school started and introduced themselves," Hyunjin says, "I recognize their names, but I can't seem to remember you ever mentioning them." Jimin and Namjoon share a look, both thinking the same thing. Why the hell did those two approach their son? "What's wrong?" Hyunjin asks, "Why do you have that look on your faces?"

Jimin smiles, "It's nothing. We're just surprised that they went to speak to you. We're really old friends. We haven't been in touch in years."

"Oh, okay," Hyunjin says.

Namjoon nods, "Do you have homework to do? It's getting late. You should start working on your assignments and then get some rest. It's still a school night." Hyunjin nods and slips away from the blanket. He stands up from the couch and heads towards his room. Namjoon and Jimin wait patiently until they hear the clicking of his door before exchanging looks. Jimin grabs the remote and turns on the TV, letting the noise of the drama mask their voices. "What are they playing at?" Namjoon huffs, "First that mission. Now this?"

"It seems like they're after Hyunjin," Jimin muses.

Namjoon shakes his head, "But, why? What do they want with him?"

"Do you think it's because he's our son?" Jimin asks, "We didn't end off on a great foot back then. Is this their way of getting some sort of revenge?" Namjoon nods, wondering if their splintered friendship could be the reason behind their former friends' actions.

Namjoon and Jimin storm down the hallway with purpose in their steps. They stop in front of a room and rip the door open. The couple burst into the room and glare at the two men, who lounge out on the couch. "Jimin. Namjoon. What are you doing here?" Jinyoung asks.

Jimin huffs, "Why do you think we're here?" Jaebum and Jinyoung exchange a look and notice how angry their friends appear. The couple frowns, wondering why they're friends are so upset. "Did something happen?" Jaebum asks, "You seem angry."

"Angry is an understatement," Namjoon exclaims, "Don't play dumb. You know what you did." Jinyoung and Jaebum flash the other two an innocent look, pretending to not understand what the others were instigating. "Stop that!" Jimin shouts, "Stop acting like you did nothing. We know everything! Did you think we wouldn't find out!?"

"Do you understand what you did? Seungcheol is pissed," Namjoon says with wide eyes, "He wants your heads!" Jinyoung scoffs and Jaebum sighs, slouching a bit on the couch. Jimin growls, "What the heck is wrong with you two? I understand that you're looking for his killer, but what you did was not right. You went too far!"

"You don't understand at all!" Jinyoung exclaims.

Namjoon shakes his head, "Jinyoung! We understand loss. We know that all you've been doing is searching for who hurt your son, but you attacked Jihoon. He's our friend. He's been our friend for years!"

"You know Jihoon comes from assassins. He was bred to be a killer," Jaebum states, "Maybe, you trust him too much."

"That doesn't matter. He's not a mercenary. He didn't kill him! He helped train him!" Jimin says, "Jihoon never did anything! He didn't deserve what you did to him!"

"Stop saying that! Jihoon got exactly what he deserved!" Jinyoung seethes, "He deserved every cut. He deserved every blow and bruise!!! He is a monster! He sold out my son!!! He gave the very people searching for him the info they needed to find him! He's the reason my son is in a coffin and not sitting right by my side!"

"Where the hell did you hear that?" Namjoon asks.

Jaebum huffs, "There's been whispers around the underworld."

"You attacked Jihoon because of rumors," Jimin states, "Are you nuts? Rumors are more often than not just that, rumors! You can't just believe that bullshit and do whatever the hell you want!"

"We did what we had to do for our child!" Jaebum shouts.

Namjoon scoffs, "Did what you had to do? You broke nine of Jihoon's ribs. You sliced his legs and arms wide open. You cracked his skull. Forced him into a coma which he may never wake up from. Don't tell me that you did what you had to do! You attacked our friend! You hurt one of our oldest friends and you're acting like it's okay!!! How do you even know those rumors were true!? How could you trust the rumor so blindly!?

"It was our one lead on him. Our one lead and you expected us to sit by when Jihoon is right in front of us!" Jinyoung exclaims, shaking his head, "I am not letting a single person who did something to my son get away with it.

"You don't know if Jihoon even did that! You don't know for sure! You attacked him based off of a rumor!" Jimin yells, "Don't you understand what's wrong with this!? Jihoon is innocent! Seungcheol is by his bedside praying that he wakes up! The rest of SVT are bawling their eyes out in fear that they've lost a brother! All because of your hunch that he did something! A hunch! Stupid, freaking gossip! How could you do that!? You should've checked! You should've made sure before doing anything! You should've come to us! We could've figured this out together!!!"

"If we went to you, you would've stopped us," Jaebum says through gritted teeth.

"You can't say anything about this. This doesn't have anything to do with you," Jinyoung huffs, "This is about our son. Our family. So, don't you dare get involved."

Namjoon laughs, "Don't you dare?! We got involved the second you harmed an innocent. The second you lashed out on someone that did nothing. The second you left an entire group of people wondering if they're going to have to plan a funeral!"

Jimin shakes his head, "We may be gang leaders, but we still have morals, something that the two of you have seemed to lose."

"Jihoon is not innocent!" Jaebum shrieks.

"Does telling yourself that make you feel better for attacking your own friend!?" Jimin exclaims, "You know what you did was wrong, so go apologize. We can fix all of this."

"There's nothing to fix," Jinyoung says with no emotion.

"We're doing this for him," Jaebum says.

Namjoon grits his teeth, "Do you think your son would want you to do this?"

"Stop talking like you understand! Stop saying you understand! You don't!" Jinyoung screams, "We lost our son and no one has any idea who killed him. We're going to find who did it and we're going to make them all suffer."

Namjoon frowns, "So, what? If there's a rumor that we did it, would you believe it?"

"If you did, then we would attack you," Jinyoung says, "Just like Jihoon." Jimin stares at Jinyoung and Jaebum as if they are strangers. They would never do something like this. They have always treasured their friendships, but not anymore. They seemed focused only on avenging their son. And nothing would stop them from achieving that. Everything else be damned as long as their son's killers are brought to justice. "I don't recognize you," Jimin says, "The Jaebum and Jinyoung I know would never hurt people that don't deserve it."

"Jihoon deserved it!!!" Jaebum shouts, "He deserved every single thing we did to him. He deserved it for what he did to my child!!!

"How many times will I have to say it before you understand!? Jihoon is innocent!" Namjoon exclaims.

"How many times do we have to tell you that he's not!? Jihoon sold out our son!" Jaebum yells, "He's not innocent!"

"Those are rumors! You mutilated Jihoon based on rumors!!!!" Jimin shouts, "How are the two of you not even a tad bit guilty!?" Jaebum and Jinyoung stare at the two, not affected at all by Jimin's words. They were fine with what they did. They reasoned that since it was for their dead son, it was fine. "Do you think we'll let you get away with this? We won't let you attack whoever you want," Jimin questions with fire in his eyes.

Jinyoung rolls his eyes, "Don't bother. Just let us do what we want. As I said before, this has nothing to do with you. You shouldn't get involved."

"You're our friends. We're not going to let you do something you'll regret," Namjoon says.

"We won't regret this. This is all for him," Jaebum says, "It's all worth it. He didn't deserve to die."

"And Jihoon didn't deserve to be attacked," Jimin states. Jinyoung scoffs and combs his hand through his hair. He stands up from where he is on the couch and gestures for Jaebum to follow him. The two are done arguing. It's stupid. They won't stop until they've found their son's killer. Their friends aren't going to stop them. Jaebum and Jinyoung walk towards the door, leaving Jimin and Namjoon. The couple watches as their friends walk away from them. Namjoon sighs, "All of this...is it really worth it? I know you're suffering, but what are you achieving by doing this!? Your kid's dead. It can't be changed. Why even bother with this war against the world? Why hurt people that have done nothing wrong? It won't bring you peace." Jaebum scowls and turns around, his hands clenched into tight fists. Jinyoung stops him, placing a hand on his shoulder and instantly stopping the other from attacking Namjoon. He turns around to face the couple with a look of annoyance and pain. "We're not looking for peace. We're looking for vengeance," Jinyoung glares at Namjoon and with venom dripping from his tongue says, "When you have a child of your own, you'll see. You will do all you can to protect him. All you can to avenge him, if he were to die. And the day he does, you'll be heartbroken. Like we are...you'll see. And you'll bite your tongue when you suffer the way we have."

◇─◇──◇────◇────◇────◇────◇────◇─────◇──◇─◇

"Are they going to kill him?" Jimin asks. Namjoon shakes his head, not wanting to think that his former friends would do such a thing. "We should've been kinder back then," Jimin murmurs, "We could've prevented this."

Namjoon frowns, "We can't do anything about it now. We just need to make sure they don't do anything to our son."

Jimin nods, "We should have someone protect him. I don't know what Jaebum and Jinyoung's real motive is in all of this, but I know they're after Hyunjin." Namjoon purses his lips and runs a hand through his hair. Jimin flashes Namjoon a sad look. He takes his husband's hands and gently squeezes them. "We won't let them get to him," Namjoon states, "We'll protect him until our dying breath."

What do you think? JJP are kinda nuts aren't they. There personalities are nothing like real life and it was kind of fun to write them in this way. Oh and did you guess my fav SVT ship? It's Jicheol! I love that ship and who knows I may write a full story on them soon. Hint, hint, wink, wink. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this story. If you did please vote, comment, follow me, add this story to your library, and check out my Romance One-Shots. I hope you have a great rest of your day and I'll see you soon. Bye, bye!
