Chapter 8

I am back! It's been a bit since I've updated. Anyway, this chapter is a bit shorter than the past few. It's a fairly light chapter, but Hyunjin has some fun and interesting conversations in this one. Also, there's a BTS character in this chapter that hasn't been mentioned before. Ooooooooooo! Kekekekeke, anyway, let's get into it.

His parents wanted Hyunjin to stay at home for a few days, but Hyunjin insisted he was fine. He would much rather be at school then at home rethinking that time in his life where he was nothing but scared every single day. He would rather deal with Kijoon than Rat man. It took a lot, but he convinced his parents to let him go to school. He just had to promise to call home if he didn't feel so good. Hyunjin sighs as his driver pulls to the front of the school. "You sure you're okay with going back, Hyunjin?" Wooyoung asks.

Hyunjin nods, "Yeah. I'm good. Thanks." He gets out of the car and grabs his bag. Wooyoung rolls down his window, "Your uncle is going to pick you up after school."

"Okay," Hyunjin says, "Bye." Wooyoung waves before rolling up the window and driving off. Hyunjin looks at the school again and sighs. Even if he wanted to come here, school is still school. He starts to walk forward and he groans when he spots Kijoon smirking at him. The boy must be in a bad mood. He usually doesn't confront Hyunjin the second he gets dropped off. He sighs again and starts walking. He looks straightforward and can see Kijoon making his way over to him. He keeps moving until the two are only a couple of steps apart. Hyunjin stops moving, deciding to let the freaking bully come to him. Kijoon is just about to stand in front of the boy when two men step right in front of him. Hyunjin blinks in surprise and looks at the two men. One has longer hair that is a bit curled at the ends. He wears a tan coat and has a piercing on his nose. The other has clear, cream like skin and Hyunjin's breathe catches in his throat at how handsome he is. The man's hair is tousled, but still maintains a stylish look. He wears a dark blue sweater and a small smile upon his face. "Hello, Hyunjin," The man with the piercing says.

"Um, hi. How do you know my name?" Hyunjin asks.

The other smiles, "We're old friends of your parents."

"M-my parents?" Hyunjin questions.

The man nods, "I'm Jinyoung and this is Jaebum." Hyunjin looks at the two and nods. He doesn't remember his parents having friends with those names, although the names are familiar to him. He can't place where he's heard them before. "You've really grown up," Jaebum comments, "I remember when you were just a little boy."

"You knew me when I was a kid?" Hyunjin asks.

Jinyoung nods, "We came to your birthday party. Remember?" Hyunjin shakes his head. He really can't remember these two at all, but he feels like he does know them. There's something telling him that he does. Hyunjin's eyebrows furrow as he tries to understand who these two may be. "Well, it was a long time ago," Jaebum states.

"What are you doing here?" Hyunjin asks.

"Oh, we were just driving around and spotted you," Jinyoung says, "We recognized you as the kid Namjoon and Jimin adopted."

"Yeah, how are your parents? Are they treating you right? I know being adopted isn't exactly an easy thing," Jaebum says.

Hyunjin looks at the two as he speaks, "They're great. They're the best parents I could ever ask for. They take great care of me. It doesn't really matter if they adopted me. They're my family."

"Still, I'm sure you wonder sometimes about your real family," Jinyoung says.

Hyunjin shrugs, "Not really."

"Hm, I bet you would look just like your mother," Jaebum states,

"W-what?" Hyunjin stutters, not expecting for them to speak so nonchalantly about his birth family. He doesn't remember them. Namjoon and Jimin are the only family he has ever known. Who are these people and why are they talking about this? "You've grown up so much," Jinyoung says, "I'm sure that you're the splitting image of your mom." Hyunjin frowns at the two men's words. He opens his mouth to say something, but the bell rings. The boy's eyes widen and the two men step to the side. "Have a good day at school, Hyunjin," Jaebum says.

Jinyoung smiles, "It was nice seeing you again." Hyunjin waves at them before quickly walking towards the front door. He glances over his shoulder to see the two men still looking at him with smiles plastered on their faces. Hyunjin shivers and shakes his head. There was something off about those two. They're weird.

Hyunjin sighs as he kicks a rock. He's been sitting on the staircase for a good thirty minutes. School ended a while ago and the boy has been waiting for his uncle to pick him up. He could only assume the man was late for some reason. Hyunjin sits on the staircase leading up to the school, waiting as patiently as he can. The boy shifts a little, trying get a tad bit more comfortable on the hard concrete. He hopes that he doesn't have to wait for that much longer. He had texted his uncle, but the man didn't reply. Hyunjin hoped that meant the man was just driving and nothing bad had happened. His uncle was an interesting person. He was the only person that knew of his parents' secret lifestyle that wasn't a part of the gang. He had found out cause Namjoon could never lie to his younger brother and the same could be said with Jimin and his best friend. The truth came out and his uncle had gone along with it. He had taken up the family company and helped out with the gang's expenses when Hyunjin's parents' company was still getting started. He was a busy man, so Hyunjin didn't get to see him often, but when he did he would always treat Hyunjin as his own child. Hyunjin loved his uncle. He would love him even more if he would get here in the next couple minutes, so he doesn't need to sit on the stairs anymore. "Why doesn't this school invest in benches?" Hyunjin grumbles, shifting around again.

"Not classy enough for the princess's butt?" A voice asks from behind Hyunjin. Hyunjin whips around and scowls when he sees that stupid smirk. "Hello to you too," Jisung states as he takes a seat next to Hyunjin.

"You've been ignoring me for weeks. Why are you suddenly talking to me?" Hyunjin huffs.

Jisung smiles, "You've noticed I wasn't paying attention to you. Aw, were you hoping that I would come back and serve you princess. You must have missed my presence."

Hyunjin scoffs, "As if. What are you even doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing," Jisung answers.

"I'm waiting for my ride," Hyunjin states.

Jisung nods, "Same."

"Okay," Hyunjin says, "Why are you sitting next to me?"

"There's no one else around," Jisung shrugs. Hyunjin sighs, not really knowing what to say back to the boy. He couldn't tell him to leave. Well, he can, but that wouldn't be very nice. They were both just waiting to be picked up after all. "How's Kijoon?" Jisung asks.

"Getting a bit more dickish each day," Hyunjin answers with pursed lips.

Jisung chuckles, "I still don't understand why you won't deal with him, but I'm not in the mood to argue with you princess, so whatever."

"Are you ever going to stop calling me that?" Hyunjin questions.

"What? Princess? Only if you stop being bratty, over dramatic, self-centered and annoying," Jisung says, "Which won't ever happen, so I'll be calling you that until the day you die."

Hyunjin scrunches up his nose, "I'm not self-centered."

"Sure," Jisung says, "I see you fixing your hair all the time in class. Not to mention, the fact that you stand in front of the mirror in the bathroom for a good five minutes."

"Are you watching me?" Hyunjin questions.

Jisung shakes his head, "Don't think too much into it, princess."

"How would you know I do all that if you haven't been watching me?" Hyunjin asks suspiciously.

"So, you admit you do it. I told you that you were self-centered. Who does those types of things?!" Jisung exclaims.

"You didn't answer my question," Hyunjin huffs. He's not self-centered. He just cares about his appearance. "I'm not watching you. It just so happens that when I go to the bathroom you're there sometimes too. And I sit behind you in class," Jisung says, "As I said, don't think too much into it. Not everyone is enamored by your face like you are."

"I'm not self-centered!" Hyunjin exclaims.

Jisung sighs, "Whatever you say, princess." The two sit side by side, not saying anything. "Hey, Jisung?" Hyunjin murmurs. The blue-haired boy looks at him and nods. "I'm sorry about what I said when we argued. I'm sorry about getting mad at you. You were just trying to be nice and I said a lot of crap that made no sense," Hyunjin blurts out, "I shouldn't have pushed you away like that when you were just trying to be nice. I let my temper get the better of me. I'm sorry."

"Are you apologizing?" Jisung asks with a raised eyebrow

Hyunjin huffs, "Yes. Don't sound so judgey...I mean it."

"Apology accepted," Jisung says, "I should say sorry too. I was being a bit invasive. If you said you were okay, I should've just backed off. I said some crappy things to you too. So, yeah, sorry."

"It's not your fault," Hyunjin murmurs, "You were just being nice to someone who wasn't being so nice to you." The boys fall silent after that, avoiding each other's gazes. Suddenly, the sound of a car horn goes off. Both boys look up to see a convertible being driven by a man with sunglasses on. "There's my lovely Hyunjinnie!" The man exclaims with a wide smile.

Hyunjin beams, "Uncle Tae!" He stands up and takes off running towards the car. "Sorry it took me so long," Taehyung says, "Shareholders were being jerks."

"It's alright," Hyunjin says, "I wasn't waiting long."

"Alright, get in then," Taehyung says. Hyunjin nods, tossing his bag into the back and getting into the passenger's seat. "Hey, who's that boy over there?" Taehyung asks in a teasing tone while nudging Hyunjin.

The boy groans, "Uncle...don't be like that. He's just a kid I was talking to. He's not even a friend."

"Hm, fine, if you say so," Taehyung says as he hits the gas pedal and pulls out to the main road.

"Really," Hyunjin says in a serious tone, "He's no one."

"Sure, Hyunjin. Sure," Taehyung mutters, "He does have nice hair though...don't you think?"

"Uncle!" Hyunjin exclaims.

Tae!!!! Wouldn't he totally be the fun uncle tho....anywho aren't we glad that Hyunjin and Jisung's relationship is progressing...sort of. Jinyoung and Jabeum are a whole other topic.
