Chapter 7

I am back with another chapter! This one is going to have a flashback. It's going to be a bit dark, so fair warning. That's all I pretty much have to say, so let's get into it.

Hyunjin sighs as he sits up in his bed. His chest still hurts from the events of last night, but he can't bring himself to sleep anymore. He's never felt fear like that in a while. It came from an experience when he was young. Jin hyung says it was due to PTSD from when Hyunjin was kidnapped. The boy shivers thinking back to that dark time in his past. No matter how much time went by, he could still remember everything about those weeks. Those weeks that he was a captive being tortured. He remembers the pain and the screaming and the fear that he was going to die. His hope wavered every day as the sun set and he was still trapped in that hellhole. Those men had put him through the gutter. They kicked him around and left scars on his body and in his mind. Hyunjin squeezes his eyes shut and tries to push away the fear building up in his body again. He's not in that dank, musty cellar anymore. He's at Moonlight's base. He's in the infirmary. He's safe. There's no scary men with messed up faces and white gloves coming to beat him. There's just his parents and Jin hyung who constantly shower him with love. There's no gross mush like food being shoved down his throat. There's just warm, home-cooked meals shared at the dinner table. He's safe. He's not there anymore. He's safe. He's safe. Hyunjin repeats that until his heart calms down and the fear slowly resides. Hyunjin shakes his head, he hasn't freaked out like this in years. The last time it had happened was when he started middle school. He thought he was over it, but clearly not. Hyunjin frowns, he should've known better than to think he could ever forget such a traumatizing moment in his life. It'll never leave him.

The first night was the worst. Even though his captors went light on him that first night, it was the most traumatizing. He was scared to the end of his wits. Confused and so lost. He wanted nothing more than to be home with his parents. Those men looked at him like he was a sacrificial lamb. Like he was prey that they could devour. And they had. They had made him cry so hard that first night. They had shook the boy to his core. Made him fear the shadows and the dark. He feared their voices. He feared what they could do to him the next day. They made him pray for the first time for his life. They chipped at him that first night and continued to do so until he shattered. "Well, well," A rat-faced man says with a smirk, "Hello, there." Hyunjin flinches and struggles against his bindings. "Ah, don't do that," The man continues, "I'm here to give you a warm welcome. I'm so glad you'll be staying with us." Hyunjin whines against the gag in his mouth and the rat face man tuts. "I can't hear a word you're saying," The man states before ripping off the gag.

Hyunjin coughs and looks up at the man, "Who are you?"

"Your wonderful host," The man says, holding his hand out behind him. One of his lackeys passes him a black item and Hyunjin stiffens, wondering what it could be. "P-please just let me go," Hyunjin stutters.

"But, you just got here," The man says, "It would be rude to leave so suddenly." He smirks and flicks a button on the black item. A light turns on and the man smiles. Hyunjin frowns when he sees that it's nothing other than a flashlight. "You see. This silly thing is actually really fun to play with," The man says with a grin, "Makes people squirm. The man turns the light so it flashes right at Hyunjin's eyes. The boy flinches and tilts his head away. "Don't do that," The man tuts, "You're ruining the fun." He flashes the light at Hyunjin again, who looks away. The man huffs and grabs onto Hyunjin's face. He holds it in place and shines the light right at the boy. Hyunjin squeezes his eyes shut, not wanting to be blinded. The man growls and gestures for his lackeys to do something. Two large men go to the boy's side and tear open his eyelids. Hyunjin whimpers as the rat man shines the light into his eyes. The boy can't do anything except stare straight at the blinding light. It burns his eyes and tears start to build up. The man chuckles, "See! Fun! I guess you never knew that you could do this with a flashlight, right?" Hyunjin whines and tries to shake from the men's grasp. His eyes sting and he can't bear to look at the light any longer. "Ah, okay, I'm bored with this," Rat man mutters, shutting off the light and tossing it to the floor. The men let go of Hyunjin's eyes and the boy lets out a gasp. His eyes feel raw and he continues to blink even as black spots appear in his vision. Tears drip down his face as he blinks more, the spots not going away. Rat man chuckles at his struggle and grabs onto Hyunjin's chin. "That was fun, wasn't it? We're just getting started too!" The man exclaims, "We have a lot more fun planned for today. And maybe, if you have fun tonight we can do even more tomorrow! How does that sound?" Hyunjin shakes his head and sniffles, wanting nothing more than to be free from here. "Yes? Alright! Let's move on!" The man says reaching into his pocket and pulling out a knife with a red gem on the hilt. "This was a gift from my old man," The man says, admiring it, "I've always been sort of sentimental. I never used it before, but since you're here, I have to! Right!? It's the perfect occasion." Hyunjin shrinks in on himself at the sight of the knife. The man grins and strokes his finger against Hyunjin's cheek. "Oooooo! Has anyone ever told you that you have really nice skin! Oh, I'm so envious," The man says, "I would kill for your skin." Hyunjin grimaces as the man continues to caress his face. "Ah, such beautiful skin..." The man murmurs, "I wonder if it'll still be like that when I dig my knife into it..." Hyunjin jumps at his words and struggles again. "Oh, you must be so excited!" The man smirks, "You're jumping out of your seat in joy. C'mon, you need to stay still if you want this game to go well. Wouldn't want me to slip and take out your eye..." Hyunjin stops moving, not wanting to get hurt more than he has to. "There we go," The man says. He smirks as he traces circles on Hyunjin's cheeks. The boy flinches and squeezes his eyes shut in fear. He whimpers as the knife is pressed harder. The man chuckles as he pushes down harder. Hyunjin whines loudly as he feels his cheek start to burn. He feels liquid drip and he knows that he's been cut. The man smirks as he moves his knife to the other cheek and doesn't hesitate to make a quick slash. Hyunjin shrieks in surprise and the man laughs. "How about that neck of yours?" The man questions, "Should we make it look pretty too?" Hyunjin shakes his head, not wanting to be cut anymore.

"You're no fun," The man huffs, "Let's keep going." The knife makes its way to Hyunjin's neck and makes quick slashes. The boy whimpers with each cut, some deeper than others but all dripping blood. His neck becomes painted with red. Hyunjin sniffles and whimpers, his cuts all burning. The man smirks as he bends down onto his knees, "So much fun, right? Don't worry, I left the best for last. This will make one of our other games so much more enjoyable." Rat man rips Hyunjin's shoes from his feet and peels off his socks. He tosses them to the floor and readjusts his grip on the knife. He smirks as he starts at his heel and cuts upward. He makes a long line across Hyunjin's foot and smirks as blood starts to drip from the wound. He does this two more times before moving onto his other foot and doing the same thing. Hyunjin squirms in pain as his feet burn and winces as more blood drips from the cuts around his neck. The leader smiles as the boy's feet drip with blood as well. He passes his knife to one of his men and orders them to clean it. "That was fun," The man grins, "I want to show you something I learned online. Ever heard of pressure points? I found one that's supposed to make you feel nothing but pain. I thought we should try it out. Tell me how it feels, okay?" The rat man reaches over and presses on the side of Hyunjin's shoulder. The boy lets out a blood-curdling scream in less than a second. The man lets out a cackle, "It's so fast! Tell me? Does it hurt?" Hyunjin screams on the tops of his lungs as nothing but pain fills his body. He doesn't understand where it comes from, but it hurts. It hurts so much. Hyunjin vision blurs and his body tenses. He can't make out anything except for pain. Hyunjin continues to scream an octave higher each time. The boy's eyes are wide and his hands are bunched into tight fists. "Oooooo, I like this," The man chuckles as tears pour from the young boy's eyes. Hyunjin continues to scream and his captors all watch with amusement. They had no idea that this would put the boy through so much pain. Nonetheless, it was fun to watch. They stare at the boy as he shrieks and cries and screams until his throat goes raw. Eventually, the rat man walks over and undoes what he did. Hyunjin slumps over in his chair and breathes heavily. He chokes and tears continue to spill from his eyes. His entire body is limp and shakes a little, still weak from the onslaught of pain. "Well, it's getting late," The rat man says, "I hope you had fun tonight cause I have even more planned for tomorrow." Hyunjin's eyes bug out of his head and he shivers, not wanting to go through today again. The man waves at his men, "Jetliner position." The men nod and grab onto Hyunjin. They drag him up from his seat. They shove him against the wall and stretch his arm out so they can tie him to a nearby pole. Hyunjin slumps onto the floor and the men force him to his feet. The boy cries as his cut up feet come in contact with the grimy floor. The men ignore him as they push him into a position where he is sitting in a nonexistent chair. His back is against the wall and he is squatted down with his ripped up feet keeping him up. The boy shakes and whimpers in pain that shoots through his feet and legs. "Stay like that all night and maybe I won't come visit you tomorrow," Rat man says before walking towards the door. As the man leaves the metal door slams shut and as it's locked a loud grating noise echoes in the room. Hyunjin is alone in the cold, musty room. The only light comes from a tiny window and the only sound is Hyunjin's labored breathing. Hyunjin chokes back sobs, pain still filling his body, "Please...help me..."

"Hyunjin?" Jimin asks as he comes into the room followed by Namjoon. Hyunjin shakes from his thoughts and looks at his parents with a smile "Hi," Hyunjin says.

"Are you alright? You look a little pale," Namjoon says, walking to his son's bedside, "What were you thinking about?"

"Oh, nothing," Hyunjin answers, "I'm fine." Namjoon frowns, but nods his head, trusting his son's words. "Hyunjin....about last night," Jimin says.

"I'm sorry," Hyunjin states.

Jimin's eyebrows furrow, "Sorry? For what?"

"This was supposed to be my second chance. I was supposed to prove to you that I could handle missions. I could handle gang life! I...I didn't do that," Hyunjin mutters, "Things didn't go well. I didn't prove anything other than I'm not ready...maybe I should just quit."

"Is that what you want?" Namjoon asks.

"W-what?" Hyunjin questions.

"Do you want to quit?" Namjoon asks.

Hyunjin shakes his head, "Of course not."

"Then, we won't make you give up your life in Moonlight," Jimin says.

"R-really?" Hyunjin asks.

Jimin nods, "What happened last night wasn't your fault. You were set up. We won't hold that against you."

"Thank you," Hyunjin says, "And, what do you mean by set up?"

Namjoon sighs, "There was something off about your mission last night. Your appa and I are looking into it, but we haven't found anything yet. You don't need to worry about it, just be careful next time you go on a mission. Alright?" Hyunjin nods, trusting that his parents will be able to figure all of this out.

What does Evermore have up their sleeves? There's definitely something up with them. I mean how dare they make Hyunjin remember that dark time in his life. Poor baby. He doesn't deserve to be hurt.
