Chapter 33
Hi guys! I have a new chapter for you. It's nothing crazy and a shorter one. The instantly quells for just a second. I don't have much to say so just enjoy!
Hyunjin is swept up into his parents arms the second he walks into the house. Jimin and Namjoon squeeze him so tight that he has trouble breathing, but he can't bring himself to care. He hugs his parents back and holds back his tears. He's been trapped in Jinyoung and Jaebum's home for over a month. It's been a month since he's seen his parents. Since he's been home. "My baby," Jimin murmurs, his voice cracking as he cries.
"We were so worried," Namjoon says in a quiet tone, trying to keep his emotions in check.
"I'm so sorry," Hyunjin says, "For worrying you..."
"Don't be sorry," Jimin says, "None of this was your fault. None of it. We're so sorry for taking so long to get you out of there. You must have been so scared."
"I was okay," Hyunjin says, "They didn't bother me at all. I was more worried about how all of you were doing." The family stop hugging and start to gravitate towards the living room. Jisung follows as well, even though he does feel a bit like he's intruding. "I should go," Jisung states.
"Stay," Hyunjin states, "Please." The boy grabs onto his lovers hand, not wanting to let any of the people he cares for out of his sight for a second. Jisung looks at their interlocked hands and then at Hyunjin's parents, who nod their heads, giving the boy permission to stick around. The four all make their way to the couch and sit down. "Jisung was telling me that Jinyoung and Jaebum were trying to cut a deal with you," Hyunjin says.
Jimin nods, wiping tears from his face, "They wanted the ring in exchange for you. They told us they were torturing you and that they would kill you if we didn't agree."
"We were going to go through with it," Namjoon says, "We just wanted you back safe. We weren't thinking rationally. Jisung stopped us before we went through with the deal. We were so mad at him. We gave him hell. He was your boyfriend and he should want you back just as much as us, but he wanted you to stay in that hellhole."
"But, he was right," Jimin says, "Jinyoung and Jaebum were just saying that to play with our minds. They knew exactly how to get what they wanted. Jisung...we never apologized for all those cruel things we said to you...we're both so sorry."
Jisung shakes his head, "It's fine. I understand why you reacted like that. It's how I felt deep down. I should be the one that's sorry. I was with him when he first got kidnapped. If I had been more attentive, I wouldn't have gotten hit over the head like that. You never would have been kidnapped, Hyunjin. I'm sorry."
"You made up for it by saving our son," Namjoon says, "It took a while, but I know why it did. You planned it out in a way that guaranteed he got out and that's all we can ask for. The point is that Hyunjin is here now. He's here and he's safe."
Hyunjin nods, "Don't blame yourselves for this mess. Please. It's no one's fault except for Jinyoung and Jaebum. I just want to put this behind me and leave it as a memory of the past."
"That sounds good to me," Jimin says with a soft smile.
"What happened while I was gone?" Hyunjin questions.
"Ah, well, we were working on getting you out of there and cleaning up the mess that came along with the reveal of your birth family," Namjoon says, "Turns out it was Jinyoung and Jaebum who leaked the truth to the media."
"It was just another part of their plan," Jisung grumbles, "Single you out and grab you."
Hyunjin scoffs, "Of course. They would do something like that. What did you tell the public?"
"We confirmed that you were a Hwang," Jimin says, "And shot down the whole ring story. We played it off as clickbait and it seems to be working pretty well. We haven't had any mob in front of our house since we've released that statement."
"That's great," Hyunjin says with a sigh of relief, "That means I can return to my normal life."
"I don't know about that," Namjoon says, "We don't want Jinyoung and Jaebum to go after you again."
"I can not stay locked up in another room," Hyunjin states, "I think I'll go crazy."
"Okay, okay," Jimin says, "We had a feeling you would say that. You just need to be extremely careful. If you see them, avoid them."
Hyunjin nods his head, "Don't worry. I don't want to be anywhere near those psychos anytime soon."
"Good," Namjoon says, "Oh...right...do you remember how we had something that we wanted to tell you in person?"
Hyunjin nods, "What is it?"
"We found Minhyun," Jimin says, "And he's exactly who he said he was. He's your older brother, Hyunjin."
"R-really?" Hyunjin stutters one surprise. He hadn't gotten his hopes up with Minhyun like he had with Jinyoung and Jaebum. He didn't want to go through the pain of having another liar in his life. He's dealt with that enough already. Minhyun was fine with him being wary, so Hyunjin was going to be just that. But, now that he knows the truth. Now that he knows that Minhyun is actually his brother, he feels something. He can't describe it. It's happiness, but at the same time some sadness. Maybe, it's from the fact that he's spent his entire life not knowing that he still has family out there. Maybe, it's from the fact that Minhyun was on his own for so long. But, Hyunjin was ultimately relieved. Minhyun was telling the truth from the very beginning. Hyunjin shakes his head in disbelief, "I can't believe this."
"It's a good thing," Jisung says.
"It is," Hyunjin says, "I just didn't expect it."
"I told you it would be good news," Jimin says. Hyunjin nods and smiles. Even though his life has been a mess as of late, at least some positive has come from all of this. He finally found his past. Even though it was a messy one, he knows it. That's something he's always wanted and it finally feels like he's whole. "You okay, princess?" Jisung asks, nudging his leg.
Hyunjin nods, "I'm just trying to process that I've finally found my birth family."
"Crazy, isn't it?" Namjoon says.
"Insane," Hyunjin murmurs, "I didn't think I would ever find them. Any of them..."
"Don't forget about us," Jimin says with a watery smile.
"Never," Hyunjin states, looking right at his parents, "Oh, that reminds me. When we were rushing out of Evermore headquarters, we ran into this man named Jackson."
"Jackson Wang?" Namjoon questions.
Hyunjin nods, "He let us go even though he is good friends with Jinyoung and Jaebum. He told me that he used to be really close with you, dad. And he gave me this to give to you two." The boy reaches into his pocket and takes out the note that Jackson had given him. He passes it to Namjoon, who stares at it with confusion. "I have no idea what it says," Hyunjin says, "I didn't look at it. Do you think it's important?"
"I don't know," Namjoon says "I'll look at it later. I just want to spend time with my son, now that he's back home."
