Chapter 26
Will this be the chapter that Hyunsung makes up? I guess you'll have to read and find out. I don't have much to say other than thank you for enjoying my story and showing it so much love. I hope you continue to read and follow me on this journey. With that said, into the chapter we go!
Hyunjin mused over what to make off Minhyun's story for days. He pieced it all together, trying to find if anything didn't make sense. Not matter how much he thought about it, he still couldn't determine if anything his so-called brother said to him was true. He's stuck once more with another person that he doesn't know whether or not he should trust. The mystery of Jinyoung and Jaebum was enough, but now Minhyun has added a whole other element to it. It depicts his uncles or not uncles as the bad guys. The reason for the car accident, but there's no way of proving that. No way of checking that Jinyoung and Jaebum did something like this. It doesn't add up either. The Evermore leaders attacking people for money. That doesn't sound like something they would do. According to his parents, everything the couple did following Yugyeom's death was to avenge their son. Why would they suddenly cause a car crash? It has nothing to do with their whole motive for crime. Minhyun is pretty fishy too. The secretive messages because supposedly it would lead to bad things if anyone found out they were talking. Suddenly appearing after years of Hyunjin never knowing his birth family. Not being in the car that night, claiming to be home. What if his supposed older brother is the reason for all of this? There's so many questions and not a single answer. Hyunjin doesn't know whose story to believe. He hasn't even gotten around to telling anyone else about Minhyun and the things he's told him yet either. His parents had to leave the country to do something for the company and aren't supposed to get back for another two weeks. And he would much rather speak about this in person than over a video call. So, he can't go to his parents. He couldn't even tell Jisung. The two haven't exactly fixed things between them. Hyunjin has tried. Again and again. But whenever he wants to do it, he gets interrupted or he gets busy or something else prevents him from talking to Jisung. It's driving him insane. He can see how much it hurts Jisung, yet the boy keeps agreeing when Hyunjin suggests to meet up again. He hates that he's canceled their meet ups and postponed all of this for so long. He just wants to tell Jisung the truth, but it seems that the entire world is against him. Hyunjin won't give up though. He'll tell Jisung the truth. Eventually.

Hyunjin ducks down as a rain of bullets lodge themselves into the wall behind him. He sighs as he quickly reloads his gun. Since his parents are away, Yoongi was given control of the gang. He would be dealing with Moonlight business and assigning people to missions. Recently, the gang had been met with some people that thought it would be fun to mess with them. They captured Moonlight men and tortured them to the point where many of them were too crippled to even walk. They became a major thorn in the gang's side. All the gang members wanted revenge for their injured comrades and to show that Moonlight isn't someone you mess with. And so the raids began. Moonlight attacked each of this group's bases and burned them to the ground. They killed the gangsters or locked them up in Moonlights prison. They thought they had gotten them all, but turns out they missed one. Yoongi formed a team to take down this last base. Hyunjin had begged the older to add him onto the list. Yoongi was hesitant, not wanting to deal with the wrath of Park Jimin if he were to ever find out he sent his precious son on this type of mission. But, Hyunjin was nothing if not persistent. He kept bugging the older until the man couldn't take it anymore. He can deal with the wrath of Jimin, but he can't put up with a teenagers whining. And so, Hyunjin joined the mission. It wasn't going terribly, but it definitely wasn't going smoothly either. Moonlight had underestimated the amount of men that would be at this base. Although they were taking out a lot of them, there is still a fair amount to deal with. Hyunjin quickly peeks out from around the wooden box he's hiding behind to fire his gun. He hits two men, who go down with a thud. Hyunjin pulls back as the enemy's guns are cocked and fired at him. "Hyunjin!!!" A voice cries from behind him. Hyunjin slowly turns his head and his eyes widen as he sees a figure stumble through the entrance. His eyes get even larger as the enemy fires at this person. Hyunjin curses under his breath and quickly rushes out of his hiding spot. He fires his gun behind him, hoping that he doesn't get shot. He charges at the person by the door and pulls him to the ground. He drags him by his sleeve towards a nearby metal desk. "Jisung!" Hyunjin hisses, "What are you doing here?"
"To see you," Jisung states, his eyes looking a bit unfocused.
Hyunjin huffs, "Why? How did you even know I was here?"
"Tracker," Jisung giggles.
"You put a tracker on me?" Hyunjin questions in disbelief.
"No, silly!" Jisung says with a wide grin and playfully slaps Hyunjin's shoulder. Hyunjin stares at the boy in confusion, not understanding why he's acting like this. He scans over Jisung's face, which is flushed red. He sniffs the air and sighs when he recognizes that scent. "Are you drunk?" Hyunjin asks.
"Maybe," Jisung says. Hyunjin shakes his head in disbelief. What in the world prompted Han Jisung to get drunk and come searching for him? "You need to leave," Hyunjin states, "I'm in the middle of something and I can't deal with you right now." Hyunjin knows his words sound a bit harsh, but Jisung really needs to leave. He's in the middle of a gun fight with another gang. Jisung could get hurt if he stays here. "Go, Jisung," Hyunjin says, before moving back to his previous position. He fires his gun at the men again and huffs when he misses his mark. That same man starts to fire at him and Hyunjin grimaces. Thankfully, the dude is a bad shot and Hyunjin has no problem shooting again to take him down. "You're always too busy," Jisung mutters, "You're the one that wants to talk, but you're always doing something." Hyunjin looks to his side and groans when he sees Jisung there. "I told you to leave," Hyunjin exclaims, "Jisung, go home!"
"We haven't been in the same room in what? A month? Well I'm here and you're here...just tell me," Jisung murmurs.
Hyunjin sighs, "I will tell you. Just not now. Don't you understand what's going on?"
"No,"Jisung huffs, "I have no idea. You keep texting me saying you have something to tell me and then you make up some silly excuse to not meet. You know it freaking hurts! It feels like a tease. Like you're dangling the fact that I like you in my face and trampling all over my heart! It's freaking cruel!" Hyunjin looks to Jisung, who is starting to tear up. His heart clenches with guilt and he bites his lower lip. Jisung suffered a lot more than he ever thought. "I'm sorry," Hyunjin says, "I really did want to meet up all those times, but I had reasons for not going through with it. I wasn't just saying it to be mean. I really have something to tell you, but we can't do this here. Not when there are guns being shot and there's a chance you can get hurt. You're drunk, Sungie. You could get hurt and if you do I will never forgive myself."
"My heart skips a beat when you call me that. Sungie. I like it," Jisung murmurs, looking at the ground.
Hyunjin shakes his head, "Are you even listening to me?"
"I hate it too," Jisung grumbles, "I'm so in love with you that I can't say no. You keep asking to meet up and I keep saying yes even though you don't deserve a second chance. Or a third or fourth or whatever. You don't deserve it, but I keep giving it to you cause I really, really like you...." Hyunjin doesn't know what to say as tears slowly drip from Jisung's eyes. He wishes he could just explain here. Tell Jisung everything. How Jinyoung and Jaebum threatened him. How everything he said was a big lie. How he's in love with him. He wants to, but not here. Not in this situation. Jisung is just going to have to wait a bit longer. "I'm sorry. I'm going to keep saying it and it won't really fix anything, but I mean it. I never wanted this to happen," Hyunjin says, "I didn't want you to get hurt because of my actions. Get drunk. I never wanted this. If I did, I never would've lied to you to begin with."
"Why did you then?" Jisung asks, "Why?"
Hyunjin shakes his head, "Not now. You need to go."
"You're still pushing me away? After apologizing and all the bullshit?" Jisung chuckles, "You're something else, princess." Jisung wipes at his tears and staggers to his feet. "What if I don't leave? Huh? What are you gonna do then?" Jisung taunts. Suddenly, a gunshot echoes and Hyunjin's eyes widen. He acts quickly, tackling Jisung to the ground. There's a bullet lodged in the wall behind where Jisung was once standing. Hyunjin turns to look at Jisung and growls, "Go! You almost got freaking shot! Now isn't a good time, Jisung! Can't you see that! I want to tell you everything, but now is a horrible time. Go!" Jisung frowns, but slowly nods his head. He gently pushes Hyunjin away from him and gets to his feet, keeping his head low. "I'll cover you," Hyunjin says quietly, a bit upset at himself for yelling again at Jisung again. Jisung nods and slowly inches his way to the door. Hyunjin guards him with his gun, making sure he doesn't get hit as he leaves the compound.
◇─◇──◇────◇────◇────◇────◇────◇─────◇──◇─◇
"Is now a good time?" Jisung asks. Hyunjin looks to his left at Jisung. His hair is tousled and there are black glasses over his eyes. It's the end of the school day and the school is already fairly empty, most of the kids rushing out the second the last bell rang. Hyunjin, himself, was on his way out of the school when Jisung called out to him. "Yeah," Hyunjin answers. Jisung nods and walks out of the front doors of the school. Hyunjin follows after him, knowing that Jisung will lead them to a place they can speak in private. The two make their way to the side of the school. Once there, Jisung leans against the wall. Hyunjin does the same beside him. The boys don't speak, an awkward feeling settling over the two. It's been a long time since they last spoke and their relationship is funky at the moment. "I thought you said sunglasses don't hide your identity well," Hyunjin says, trying to lighten the mood.
Jisung chuckles, "The only thing I'm trying to hide is the fact that I got hammered last night."
"I can't believe you drank," Hyunjin mutters
Jisung sighs, "Yeah, me too. It was the first and last time." They fall quiet again after that. After a minute passes, Hyunjin speaks again, "I'm sorry about last night. I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. You were drunk and emotional."
Jisung shakes his head, "You have nothing to be sorry about. I was drunk. I shouldn't have been there. I have you to thank for not getting my ass shot."
"I'm still sorry," Hyunjin says, "For the pain I caused you. For pushing this back for so long. I was planning on telling you right away, but Jinyoung and Jaebum interrupted me the first time. I didn't want them to see us talking and then after that things just kept coming up and messing up my plans."
"Yeah, well nothing you can really do about it now," Jisung says, "Are you going to tell me or what?" Hyunjin nods his head and takes a deep breath, gathering up courage. "I lied to you. You were right all along," Hyunjin starts to explain, "The same day we kissed, I ran into Jinyoung and Jaebum. They threatened you. Said they would kill you because you could tell me the truth. They were going to kill you just because you still spent time with me and you could reveal their plan at any moment. I didn't want you to get hurt, so I pushed you away. I tried to show them that we weren't hanging out at all. To keep you alive...I pretended like the kiss meant nothing when it meant everything. I ignored your texts and made up this silly story to get you to go away. But, it hurt....it hurt so much. To act like it was no big deal. To push you away. It only made me realize how much more in love with you I am then I already was. Dad and appa made me realize that it was a bad idea to begin with. They said that you can handle yourself. That you don't need me to do this just to protect you. And they're right...so I'm telling you the truth...cause I can't bear to lie to you anymore. Not when I still love you....and you don't have to feel the same way. You can hate me and never forgive me and that's fine, but I needed to let you know why I did what I did....I'm sorry, Sungie....really, really sorry..." Jisung stares at the boy, who has tears building up in his eyes. He sighs and moves closer to the boy. Hyunjin looks up at him as Jisung grabs his hands and gently squeezes them. "How do you expect me to stay mad when you call me Sungie? Didn't I say I love that?" Jisung questions with a small smile on his lips. Hyunjin's eyes widen and a tear falls from his eye. Jisung sighs and gently wipes at it. "Don't cry, princess," Jisung says, "It's okay."
"You forgive me?" Hyunjin asks.
Jisung nods, "I'm a little upset, but I understand. I would've done the same thing if I was in your situation. Plus, how can I stay mad at the person who I love?"
"Y-you love me?" Hyunjin stutters. Jisung nods and pulls the boy close to him, wrapping his arms around the boy. Hyunjin presses his face into Jisung's chest, a bit in shock that this is happening. "Be my boyfriend," Jisung says.
Hyunjin murmurs into his chest, "Just like that? You haven't even taken me on a date yet."
"I'll take you on a million dates once I know you're mine," Jisung says back.
Hyunjin scoffs, "I can't believe you just said that." He pulls back and Jisung pouts. "Does that mean you won't be my boyfriend?" Jisung questions.
"I never said that," Hyunjin says.
"Good," Jisung says, "Cause I've been wanting to do this again." Jisung presses his lips to Hyunjin, who quickly presses back. This kiss is desperate and a tad bit sloppy. Unlike their last kiss, but the same in every single way. There's still that love and passion that sparks through their body like a wildfire. But this time, they blend together like they haven't in years. Like nothing else matters but this kiss. Eventually, the two break away. Out of breath and flushed red. Hyunjin flashes Jisung a sweet smile and the other touches his boyfriend's lips tenderly. "Gosh, I love you," Jisung murmurs.
"Is it just cause I'm a good kisser?" Hyunjin asks.
Jisung nods, "It's partially because of that. You have beautiful lips." Hyunjin scoffs and slaps Jisung's shoulder. "Hey! It's also because you're sweet and kind and you always worry about others," Jisung says quickly. Hyunjin beams at his words and gently places a kiss to where he hit. Jisung laughs at him and shakes his head, "I missed you."
"I missed you too," Hyunjin says, "That being said...I kinda need to ruin the mood..."
"What does that mean?" Jisung asks.
"Last night, you said that you found me because of a tracker," Hyunjin says, "You said it wasn't yours...then whose is it?"
Jisung's eyes widen and he nods, "Right, I've been meaning to talk to you about this. Give me your phone." Hyunjin's brow furrows, but he reaches into his pocket and hands Jisung his phone. The boy takes it and taps on the screen, "Jinyoung and Jaebum put a tracker on you."
"What!?" Hyunjin exclaims.
Jisung nods, "You text them and stuff, right?"
"Yeah, why?" Hyunjin asks.
"Well, that basically gave a direct connection between your phone and theirs. They got Evermore's hackers to set a tracker on you," Jisung explains. The boy huffs when he can't seem to fix whatever Jinyoung and Jaebum did to the phone. "That's why they've always been able to find me..." Hyunjin murmurs.
Jisung nods and sighs, "I can't disable the tracker, so I'm gonna do something with your phone."
"What are you going to do?" Hyunjin asks.
"This," Jisung states. He takes a step back and winds up. He throws the phone right into the wall. Hyunjin's eyes bug out of his head as his phone collides with the wall and breaks. "There. They can't track you anymore," Jisung states.
Hyunjin groans, "You ruined my phone."
"I got rid of the tracker," Jisung states.
Hyunjin sighs, "I could've just brought it to one of Moonlight's hackers and gotten them to disable it."
"Hm, yeah, that probably would be a better idea," Jisung says, "Well, it's too late now. I would suggest getting a new phone that has better protection."
Hyunjin nods with a scowl on his face, "Yeah...I'll make sure of that." Jisung bends down to pick up the broken phone and passes it to his boyfriend. Hyunjin huffs and slips the broken pieces back into his pocket. Hyunjin sighs, "I need to tell you something else. A lot has happened since we last spoke." Hyunjin quickly explains to Jisung about Minhyun and the rings and everything his supposed brother told him. Jisung whistles, "Wow...never expected your brother to be the mystery person."
"That is if he even is my brother," Hyunjin mutters, "I don't even know who to believe anymore. But, if what Minhyun said is true...it kind of explains why they're after the ring, right?"
Jisung nods, "Yeah, but why would Jinyoung and Jaebum want money?"
"I was thinking the same thing!" Hyunjin exclaims, "I don't know what to do."
Jisung sighs, "I guess we just need to do more digging. With the info Minhyun gave to you, I'm sure we'll be able to find something. Even if he's lying about some parts, I'm sure there's some truth to what he said."
"You think?" Hyunjin asks.
Jisung nods, "We'll figure this out. Don't worry."
And they have finally made up! It took a while, but Hyunsung are besties once again. The dream team is back and running! They definitely have their work cut out for them too.
