Chapter 22

Hello! I hope you are all really excited for a crazy dramatic chapter. There's going to be so much happening and it's going to blow your mind. If you don't believe me, just read and find out.

The notes kept coming, as did the messages. Hyunjin complied with what his parents and Jisung had told him. He deleted each text, trashed every post-it or letter, and blocked each unknown number that attempted to contact him. It was tedious and annoying, but Hyunjin knows he is doing it for his own safety. He just wishes that his parents could figure out what is happening, so that he doesn't have to keep going through this. It's enough that he has to be extremely wary around Jinyoung and Jaebum. He's met up with the two a couple more times in the past few weeks. He acts as if nothing has changed, but he feels as if Jinyoung and Jaebum are on to him for some reason. They've never outright said it, but he can feel their suspicious gazes. Evermore's leaders are good. They can tell when something is up. Hyunjin can only pray that the two don't realize how much he truly does know. Hyunjin gets out of the car and waves to Wooyoung. The driver waves back before driving off. Hyunjin stares at the school and sighs. Another day. No matter how crazy things seem to get, school sticks around. He starts to make his way to the school when he hears someone call out his name. He turns around and his eyes widen when he sees Jinyoung and Jaebum. "What are you guys doing here?" Hyunjin asks.

"We were just taking a walk and we noticed we were near your school," Jinyoung says, "We decided to swing by and see if we could catch you."

"How have you been?" Jaebum asks.

"Okay," Hyunjin shrugs.

"School giving you trouble?" Jinyoung questions, "If you ever need help with an assignment or stuff, we can help you out."

"Thanks," Hyunjin states, "What about you two?"

"We've been busy with work stuff," Jaebum answers.

Hyunjin nods, "What do you guys do? I don't remember asking." Jinyoung and Jaebum share a look, almost like they're having a silent conversation. Hyunjin wonders what they'll tell him. If they'll lie or tell him the truth. If they'll risk opening themselves up or keep hiding, even though Hyunjin knows everything. "Jaebum is a security guard and I'm an interior designer," Jinyoung answers. Hyunjin nods, they chose to lie. "That's cool," Hyunjin says.

Jaebum nods his head, "Do you want to come over tomorrow? Jinyoung has been dying to binge-watch this drama and I know how much you love those."

Hyunjin grins, "Sure." The couple falls silent after that and Hyunjin looks up at them in confusion. There's an air of tension that falls over them. Jinyoung and Jaebum flash the boy a suspicious glance that makes Hyunjin's heart churn with nervousness. "Do you know?" Jinyoung asks, "Did he tell you?" Hyunjin blinks and puts on an innocent expression, acting as if he has no idea what the couple is talking about. The two continue to glower at him, threatening him with their eyes and demeanor. Hyunjin can feel it, but shoves his fear down. He can't let them know. He has to pretend. "Know what?" Hyunjin asks with wide eyes. Jinyoung and Jaebum keep their steely gaze on Hyunjin for a bit longer, but the boy, thankfully, keeps his composure. "Nothing," Jaebum states.

Hyunjin nods, "Okay, well, I should get going so I'm not late. I'll see you tomorrow." The couple nods their heads and Hyunjin turns to walk towards the school. He barely takes two steps when he freezes, overhearing the content of the conversation Jinyoung and Jaebum, not so quietly have. "Maybe, you were wrong," Jaebum says.

"When have I ever been wrong, Im Jaebum," Jinyoung scowls.

"A couple of times," Jaebum states. Jinyoung kicks the man, who winces and flashes his husband an apologetic look. "Still," Jaebum says.

Jinyoung sighs, "Yeah...yeah...I'm reading him differently now..."

"Then, Jisung didn't tell him anything," Jaebum says.

"Yet," Jinyoung states, "He still could blabber his big mouth off. After all, those two are still hanging out."

Jaebum curses under his breath, "Bringing Han into this was a bad idea."

"It was your idea, of course, it was," Jinyoung says, "Now we have to clean it up."

"Does that mean what I think it does?" Jaebum asks with a smirk.

Jinyoung nods, "As long as there's a chance Jisung can tell Hyunjin, he can't be an issue. We can't take that chance."

"Fine by me, we were going to kill him anyway. Might as well go through with it this time," Jaebum says, "And make sure Mark is busy, so he doesn't interrupt again." Hyunjin's blood runs cold at the words of his supposed uncles. They're going to kill Jisung just because he knows too much. Cause he could possibly tell Hyunjin the truth, which he already did, but the couple don't know that. Either way they're planning on killing him. A seventeen year old boy. Jisung. Hyunjin turns around and stares right at his uncles, "I don't hang out with Jisung anymore. I don't know why, but he's just been ignoring me. You don't need to worry about him." Jinyoung and Jaebum exchange a look before glancing back at Hyunjin, who is fuming on the inside. How dare they threaten Jisung? He's never done anything wrong. He doesn't deserve this. Any of it. Hyunjin won't let them hurt him. Not again. Jaebum nods his head, "Hm, why are you telling us this?"

"Cause you were just talking about him," Hyunjin states with a firm tone.

Jinyoung gives the boy a confused look, "We weren't talking about Jisung." Hyunjin stiffens and looks at his uncles' expressions. They show confusion, but also a sense of smugness. Hyunjin's heart thumps in his chest and his hands feel clammy. They did this on purpose. They wanted him to trip up. They're onto him. "Oh, I guess I'm just hearing things," Hyunjin says, "I'll get going. Bye." The boy turns around with his head hung low and a frown on his face. He is highly aware of his uncles' eyes on him. This is just a game. They're playing with him. They want him to freak out. They want him to break. He can't. He can't or else Jisung really will be in danger. They already want to kill him now, if they find out that Hyunjin knows the truth, Jisung is as good as dead. "Let's wait a little," Jinyoung says, "It's such a pain to hide bodies. Might as well make sure that Jisung really is hanging around Hyunjin before killing him." Hyunjin bites his lower lip, knowing that his uncle is saying this to him directly. To tell him to stay away from Jisung or else.

"That's the fifth text you've gotten today," Jisung says as the two walk down the sidewalk towards his hideout. Hyunjin nods, not even looking as he taps the delete and block button on his phone. "I give it to this person, they're persistent," Jisung says, "You've gotten what six calls too?"

Hyunjin sighs, "Yup and a new post-it in my locker after every class."

Jisung whistles and shakes his head, "Don't worry. I'm sure your parents will find them."

"I hope so," Hyunjin says, "I'm getting so tired of all this. It's stressing me out. Between this mystery person and my supposed uncles...I'm losing it..."

"Yeah, I feel you," Jisung says.

Hyunjin runs a hand through his hair and looks up at the sky, "Jinyoung and Jaebum are something else. They're on to me. They have a feeling I know more than I'm letting on, but they're waiting for me to crack or something."

"You should be careful around them," Jisung says in a serious tone.

Hyunjin looks to his friend and nods, "Yeah, I know. They're so two-faced. They act nice one second and then the next I don't even recognize them. I don't know what to make of it. If they really aren't my birth family, what are they planning? Why come after me? And if they are, how can I live with that? Knowing that they have this dark side and aren't good people."

"That's Jinyoung and Jaebum to you," Jisung says.

Hyunjin shakes his head, "I don't understand how you can keep working for them."

"Oh, I'll have you know that I'm quitting the second this whole situation is over," Jisung states, "Once I know you're safe, I'm leaving Evermore behind. I've had enough of the two of them."

"You should just leave now," Hyunjin says, "If they find out..."

"They won't," Jisung says, "I'm good at what I do."

"And what's that? Being a pain in the ass," Hyunjin asks with a smirk.

"You love my ass," Jisung comments, shaking his butt. Hyunjin scowls and proceeds to kick the man's bottom. Jisung yelps and Hyunjin laughs at his expression. "Hey!" Jisung huffs, rubbing his bottom, "I had a surprise for you, but since you kicked me, I won't give it to you."

"What?" Hyunjin exclaims, "No! I want the surprise!"

"You should kiss my butt better then," Jisung states.

Hyunjin wrinkles up his nose, "Gross. No way. I wouldn't do that in a million years."

"Well, I guess no surprise then," Jisung says.

Hyunjin rolls his eyes, "I'm not kissing your butt, Han Jisung. No surprise will make up for the trauma I would experience if I did that."

Jisung huffs, "Jeez, it's not that bad. Don't need to be so dramatic about it."

"Would you kiss my butt if I asked you to?" Hyunjin questions.

"Of course," Jisung states without a second thought. Hyunjin stares at the boy like he's lost his mind and Jisung flashes him a cheeky grin. Hyunjin sighs and walks a little faster, nearing the hideout. "I'll give you the surprise," Jisung calls out, "You just need to-"

"I'm not kissing your butt!" Hyunjin exclaims.

"I was going to say buy me cheesecake!" Jisung yells back, jogging to keep up with his friend, "You've made it clear that you don't want to get anywhere near my butt!"

"You got that right!" Hyunjin shouts.

◇─◇──◇────◇────◇────◇────◇────◇─────◇──◇─◇

"How long am I going to have to wait here?" Hyunjin asks, his hands covering his eyes.

"I'll be there in a minute!!!" Jisung yells from down the hallway. Hyunjin sighs, wondering what Jisung's surprise could be. He hopes that it isn't something weird or something, but he highly doubts that. Jisung seemed sort of giddy to be giving him the gift. "Okay," Jisung says as he walks to where Hyunjin is sitting on the couch, "I'm going to put him on your lap."

"Him?" Hyunjin questions as he feels a light weight being placed on his lap.

"Open your eyes," Jisung says. Hyunjin opens his eyes and is met with a fluffy bundle on his lap. His eyes widen as the bundle moves and turns to face him. His jaw drops as he recognizes the face of the small puppy, "Kkami!?" The puppy barks and Hyunjin squeals. Jisung watches with a smile as Hyunjin grabs a hold of the dog and squeezes him. "Look at you!" Hyunjin exclaims, "You're even cuter than the last time I saw you!" Hyunjin buries his face into the dog's fur and giggles as Kkami starts to lick at his cheek. He turns to look at Jisung, "How?"

Jisung shrugs, "I adopted him that day."

"You adopted him?" Hyunjin questions, "Why?"

"For you," Jisung says.

"For me?" Hyunjin says, "You adopted Kkami for me?" Jisung nods his head as a wide smile blooms on Hyunjin's face. "He's yours," Jisung says.

"But, what about appa and dad?" Hyunjin questions.

"I talked to them and convinced them," Jisung says.

"You talked to my parents?" Hyunjin asks with wide eyes, "You were terrified of them."

Jisung nods, "I was, but they're not as scary as I thought. They just took a while to warm up to me." Hyunjin nods, glad that his parents won't be threatening Jisung anymore. Kkami squirms in Hyunjin's grip and barks again. Hyunjin squeals and touches their noses together, "I can't believe it! He's actually mine! Ahhhhh!"

Jisung shakes his head at Hyunjin's reaction, "Yes, now stop screaming. You're going to make me go deaf."

"I can't help it," Hyunjin says, "I'm just really happy."

"I'm glad," Jisung says.

Hyunjin looks to his friend and grins, "Thank you."

Jisung nods, "You're welcome."

Hyunjin places Kkami back in his lap and strokes his head, "I never expected this from you. This was one hell of a surprise."

"Yeah," Jisung says, "I've got a lot of tricks up my sleeve." Kkami stands and clambers off of Hyunjin's lap and onto the side of the couch. Hyunjin watches Kkami as he plops down and starts to snooze. "I'm sure you do," Hyunjin says, "Gosh...I could kiss you I'm so happy."

"Do it," Jisung states, looking at the boy brimming with joy.

"What?" Hyunjin says turning to look back at his friend with wide eyes. He freezes, not knowing what to think or say. "Kiss me," Jisung says again, "Not on the butt...oh, I'll just do it." Jisung bends down a little to reach the boy sitting down and presses his lips to Hyunjin's. Hyunjin's eyes fall shut and his hands find their way to Jisung's cheeks as he kisses the boy back with a passion he's never felt before. Jisung brings himself closer to Hyunjin, propping one of his hands against the back of the couch and wrapping his other around the back of the boy's neck. The two blend together as they continue to interlock lips. They don't make any noise. It's completely silent, but the two boys can feel the waves of pure affection rolling off of them like water. Jisung drinks up the sweet honey taste of Hyunjin's full lips that match his in the best ways. Hyunjin melts at the heat that flows from Jisung that leaves his head spinning and craving for more. Time passes and they stay like this, drugged by the kiss. It's then that Hyunjin remembers the words of his uncles. The threats. Almost like a bucket of water is dumped over him, the fire dies out and Hyunjin pulls away. His eyes dart back and forth with nervousness. Jisung opens his eyes and they shine with desire. The boy lowers his lips again, but Hyunjin presses a hand to his chest to stop him. "We can't do this," Hyunjin states. Jisung blinks in surprise and takes a step back. "What do you mean?" Jisung asks, "You kissed me back...I thought..."

"No," Hyunjin says, keeping his head tilted to the ground, "You...you thought wrong." His heart hurts saying those words. It is taking everything in him to not rush to Jisung and kiss him again. To feel his lips against his. He would love it, but he can't. They can't. It doesn't matter if there's something there. Jinyoung and Jaebum hurt Jisung before. Severely. They would not hesitate to kill the boy if he is anywhere near Hyunjin. "Princess, can we talk about this?" Jisung asks. Hyunjin shakes his head and bends down to pick up Kkami. Jisung flashes the boy a hurt look which Hyunjin forced himself to ignore. "Hyunjin," Jisung says in a tone that makes Hyunjin want to screw Jinyoung and Jaebum. To forget the threats and the mess that is his life. To just be whatever he is now to Jisung. To be normal. But, he can't. He can't forget what his uncles said and he has never lived a life like other people. "Please, let's just talk," Jisung pleads. Hyunjin shakes his head and flashes a quick apologetic look to the boy, who looks distraught. Hyunjin sighs before exiting the hideout and taking off towards his home.

Crazy or what? I told you that this chapter was going to be a whirlwind. We got more drama with the notes and texts being sent to Hyunjin. Some drama with JJP. And, of course, our first Hyunsung kiss!!!! It didn't end off on a great note though, but did you really expect for me to not make it angsty. I had a lot of fun writing this chapter, so I hope you liked reading it. If you did, please vote, comment, follow me, add this story to your library, and check out my Romance One-Shots. I hope you have a great rest of your day. Bye!
