Chapter 14

Hello! I was just listening to All In, so you guys better be all in for a wild ride. Wow, that was horrible, why did I say that. Anyway, there's going to be a whole lot of craziness in this chapter. A lot has led up to this and it's going to be interesting to say the least. I'm not going to say more, so you all can go right on ahead and start delving into this chapter.

Jisung walks back into Evermore's base, his mind occupied with what had happened this afternoon with Hyunjin. His eyes widen as he thinks back to the boy's lips and he shakes his head. He must really be losing his mind. He sighs and makes his way to his room, knowing that after a night of sleep, his mind will most likely have completely forgotten the events of this afternoon. "Jisung," Jinyoung says, coming up from behind the boy. Jisung tenses, hearing the sternness in his boss's voice. "Hello, sir," Jisung says, slowly turning around.

Jinyoung nods his head, "Come with me." He turns around and starts walking towards one of the side rooms. Jisung's eyes widen, already knowing what that room is used for. His head falls and he follows Jinyoung. The two make their way into a room with dim lights and sound proof walls. Jisung keeps his head low as he is told by Jinyoung to stand by the back wall. He tosses his bag to the floor and does what the man tells him to. Jinyoung moves to stand beside Jaebum, who is tossing a whip back and forth between his hands. "Where did you take Hyunjin?" Jaebum asks.

"Just somewhere to hang out," Jisung answers.

Jinyoung frowns, "We never told you to do that."

"Well, he's my friend," Jisung states, plainly, "I don't need to be told when to-" He's cut off as Jaebum cracks the whip on the floor. Jisung tenses and he presses his back against the wall. "Do not speak unless we ask you a question or say that you can," Jaebum growls. Jisung nods his head and looks at his bosses with fear tugging at his chest. "Hyunjin isn't your friend, Han Jisung. Don't get attached to the boy. That's the first rule we gave to you when we brought you on to this mission," Jinyoung says with crossed arms, "Do not forget that."

"Yes, sir," Jisung murmurs.

Jaebum shakes his head, "You shouldn't have gotten involved this afternoon. You ruined our plans." The man starts to pace, twirling the whip as he does. Jisung eyes the weapon, wondering if they were going to use it. He sucks in a breath, he really hopes they don't. "We made it clear what would happen if you didn't strictly follow what we say," Jinyoung says.

"We had high hopes for you. You did all that we said without question before, but that changed today, didn't it?" Jaebum exclaims, "You should be grateful that we even allowed you to become a part of this mission! You should be loyal to us! Do you know what we have done for you!? How dare you act on your own! Who do you think you are to do something like that?"

"I'm s-sorry, sir..." Jisung stutters, "I-It won't h-happen a-again."

"You're right. It won't," Jaebum says, "I'll show you why it won't. Turn around." Jisung stiffens as Jaebum tightens his grip on the whip's handle. The boy pales as the man takes steps closer to him. "S-sir!" Jisung pleads, not wanting the punishment his bosses plan on giving him.

Jinyoung tuts, "This is what happens when you don't obey. Remember this moment next time you decide to act up. Now listen to Jaebum and turn the hell around!!!" Jisung shivers, but does as the man says, slowly turning around in a robotic manner. The boy squeezes his eyes shut and prepares for the whip to destroy his back.

The next day at school, Hyunjin knows right away something is wrong with his friend. Jisung walks in a weird manner and every time someone brushes against him, he flinches. The boy didn't let his back touch anything. He didn't lean against the chairs while their teacher was giving a lecture. He didn't lean against the locker to tease Hyunjin as he takes his sweet time getting his things before heading to their next class. Jisung just seems off. The two boys walk together towards the parking lot, where Jisung parked his bike. The boy still is walking in a stiff manner and Hyunjin watches with concern. "Sung? What's wrong?" Hyunjin asks for the millionth time today. His friend avoided the question all day, playing it off as Hyunjin is just imagining things. But, Hyunjin isn't dumb. He's no idiot. Did Jisung actually think he wouldn't notice? "I don't know what you're talking about, princess," Jisung says. Hyunjin shakes his head, not understanding why Jisung isn't telling him what happened. "Are you really just going to lie to me all day?" Hyunjin asks, "At least tell me if you're in pain...I'm worried, Sung." Hyunjin flashes his friend a distressed expression, pleading with him to tell him. Jisung looks back at him and lets out a sigh. "I'm fine," Jisung says, "Jaebum and Jinyoung were just a bit upset that I ran away to spend time with you."

"Jisung..." Hyunjin says.

Jisung pushes the boy on the shoulder and flashes him a smile, "Hey, don't be like that. I said I'm fine. I am. You don't need to worry about me. I'm still strong and healthy and ready to serve my princess..." Hyunjin shakes his head, not believing that Jisung is joking around right now. He has no idea what Jaebum and Jinyoung had done to the boy, but he is sure that Jisung is in pain. He wonders if the boy's guardians had hurt him. Hyunjin frowns, would Jaebum and Jinyoung do such a thing? No...there's no way. They seem like such nice people, but that could've just been a facade. He knew he sensed something off about them. "Did they hit you?" Hyunjin asks.

Jisung's eyes widen and he shakes his head furiously, "Oh, god, no! They would never do such a thing. They just took away my mattress and had me sleep on the floor. I'm just stiff is all."

"They made you sleep on the floor?" Hyunjin says, a tad bit skeptical.

Jisung nods, "Yeah, just an old punishment method that Jaebum picked up from his mom. Don't worry about it. It's all good." Hyunjin purses his lips, but slowly nods his head. He has a feeling that something Jisuing said isn't true, but what can he do about it? Jisung says he's fine. The two come to a stop in front of Jisung's motorcycle. "I would give you a ride, but I forgot my extra helmet," Jisung says. He clambers onto his bike and slips his helmet onto his head. Hyunjin shakes his head, "It's fine. Wooyoung is only going to be thirty minutes late. I can wait around a bit. I'll see you tomorrow at school. Please be careful."

"Worried about me, princess?" Jisung asks.

Hyunjin scoffs, "Shut up and go." Jisung smiles and waves before driving off. Hyunjin watches as the boy drives away. He sighs as he starts making his way back to the front of the school. The events of yesterday flood into his mind again. The brown orbs of chocolate, pulling him in like a moth to a light. His signature smile, still peeking it's way onto his face. Why the heck is he thinking about this? "Ah...what's wrong with you," Hyunjin mutters to himself as he pushes away Jisung's face from his thoughts. He really must be losing it. Why would he be that enamored by Jisung's face? It's ridiculous. Hyunjin sighs as he arrives at the front of the school. He walks over to sit on the steps of the school where he will wait for his ride. The boy's gaze falls to his shoes, which he taps against the concrete steps. "Hi, Hyunjin," A voice says loudly. Hyunjin slowly looks up and his eyes widen as he sees his favorite couple walking up to him. "Jinyoung-ssi, Jaebum-ssi, what are you doing here?" Hyunjin questions, "Jisung went home on his bike."

"Oh, yes, we know," Jinyoung says, sitting beside Hyunjin. Jaebum sits on his other side and Hyunjin shrinks in on himself, wondering what these two could possibly want. "Then, um, why are you here?" Hyunjin asks.

Jaebum sighs, "We want to tell you something, Hyunjin."

"Tell me something?" Hyunjin mutters, "Why?"

"You see...Jisung's been telling us that we've been making you a bit uncomfortable." Jinyoung says.

Hyunjin's eyes widen, not wanting to sound rude, "No, no, that's not true at all."

Jinyoung chuckles, "Don't worry about it. We were getting a bit nosy and we apologize for that. It was really unorthodox."

"We just wanted to let you know that we weren't doing that because we're stalkers or anything," Jaebum says, "We actually were hoping to jog some of the memories from your past."

"What?" Hyunjin says with furrowed brows, "Why would you want to do that?"

"We were hoping for you to remember on your own, but it seems that it's not happening," Jinyoung says.

"Remember what?" Hyunjin asks.

"Your birth family," Jaebum says, "Us."

"Y-you? Why would I remember you two?" Hyunjin questions, still not understanding.

"We're your uncles, Hyunjin," Jinyoung says. Hyunjin's mouth falls open and he blinks rapidly. Did he just hear that right? "I'm sorry....what?" Hyunjin says in disbelief.

"Jaebum and I are your uncles from your birth family," Jinyoung says, "Your mother was my older sister." Hyunjin stares at Jinyoung in shock. Could it be true? Could this man actually be his uncle? Actually be his birth family? "H-how?" Hyunjin says, "Appa and dad have been searching for years and they've never found my birth family..."

"We thought you were dead," Jaebum states.

Hyunjin blinks, "Why?"

Jinyoung sucks in the air, "Your mother passed away in a car accident. You were in the car as well, but your body was never found. Jaebum and I had hope that you were still alive, but we had no idea if you were or not."

"So, my mom is dead," Hyunjin mutters.

Jinyoung nods, "Yes...I'm sorry, Hyunjin."

"What about my dad? Or siblings?" Hyunjin asks.

Jaebum frowns, "Your mom got left by your dad when she found out she was pregnant. We have no idea where the dude is." Hyunjin's head droops, but Jinyoung places a hand on his shoulder in comfort. "You still have us, Hyunjin," Jinyoung says, "You have no idea how happy we are to see you alive."

"How did you find me?" Hyunjin asks.

"We saw you on the news one day with Namjoon and Jimin. You looked just like your mother and we just knew that there was a chance that you were our Hyunjin," Jinyoung says, "We did tons of research and tried to find out if you were who we thought you were. When our suspicions turned out to be true, we were overjoyed. We should've told you sooner, but we only just confirmed it a couple of weeks ago." Hyunjin nods, still in complete shock that these two men sitting by his sides are his uncles. He had always imagined the day he meets his birth family, but now that it's happening he doesn't know what to think. "I...I can't believe this is happening," Hyunjin says, "I never thought I would ever meet you..."

"Well, it's happening, Hyunjin," Jaebum says with a smile.

"And we'll never let you go. Ever again," Jinyoung states. The two men wrap their arms around the boy and Hyunjin stiffens for a second before relaxing. His heart warms as he allows his uncles to surround them with his love. The boy squeezes his eyes shut and basks in the warm embraces of his birth family. Suddenly, a car honk is heard and Hyunjin's eyes open. He spots Wooyoung, who is staring out the window of the car suspiciously at the couple hugging him. "Oh, that's my ride," Hyunjin says as Jinyoung and Jaebum retract their arms. "I would really love to talk to you guys more and get to know you. Do you think we could meet back up soon?"

Jinyoung nods, "Of course. You have our numbers. Just call and we'll come get you." Hyunjin nods and slowly gets to his feet. He waves, "Bye, uncles..."

◇─◇──◇────◇────◇────◇────◇────◇─────◇──◇─◇

Hyunjin sits at the dining table, eating a snack while he works on his homework. Namjoon and Jimin make their way into the room, but Hyunjin doesn't even bother looking up at them. There's still tension between the two. The argument regarding Jisung is still fresh. Hyunjin rereads the problem he's answering, trying to ignore the looks of his parents. "Why were you hugging Jaebum and Jinyoung?" Namjoon questions in a stern tone.

"How did you know?" Hyunjin questions, lifting his head up.

"Wooyoung told us," Jimin states, "Now explain." Hyunjin looks to his parents, whose expressions are completely serious. Hyunjin sighs, "They just told me who they really are. They're my uncles from my birth family."

"What?" Namjoon states with wide eyes. Jimin looks at his son in disbelief, wondering if he heard him right. "They said that they're my uncles," Hyunjin says, "Uncle Jinyoung said that his older sister was my mother."

"Don't call him that!" Jimin exclaims. Hyunjin shifts in his seat, not expecting his appa's sudden outburst. Namjoon runs a hand through his hair and places a hand on Jimin's shoulder in an effort to calm him down. Both of the men were both freaking out though. The idea of Jinyoung and Jaebum being Hyunjin's uncles is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds completely made up, but their son believes it. They can tell that Jinyoung and Jaebum have got the young boy completely convinced that they are his birth family. Namjoon and Jimin don't know how that could be true. They were close with the couple before and they knew everything about their families. Jinyoung never mentioned a sister or a nephew. And what are the chances that the nephew happens to be Hyunjin, the boy that Namjoon and Jimin have adopted. "Why? He is my uncle," Hyunjin says, "From my birth family...it's crazy isn't it? I can't believe it..."

"That's cause he's not your uncle, Hyunjin," Jimin states, "It makes no sense."

"Of course it makes sense. Uncle Jinyoung said that his sister got into a car accident and I was in the same car. If I got into an accident right before you found me, it would explain all of the injuries that I had," Hyunjin explains.

"Hyunjin...that's all circumstantial," Namjoon says, "There's no other way of proving that Jinyoung and Jaebum are actually your uncles. They could just be spinning up a story for the hell of it."

"Why would they do that?" Hyunjin asks.

"Cause they're Jaebum and Jinyoung!" Jimin exclaims.

Hyunjin shakes their head, "They meant what they said to me. They weren't lying. I could feel it in my heart that they're my birth family. I found them..." Namjoon and Jimin share a look. The two understand why their son is this way, they would be the same way if they were in his shoes. He's never known his birth family and his past has always been a mystery. When Jinyoung and Jaebum approached him with an answer, he must have jumped on it, believing it with his everything. But, the boy needs to know that those two can't be trusted. They're not good people. "Hyunjin...we know how much finding your birth family means to you, but you really can't believe that they're related to you," Namjoon reasons.

"Why not?" Hyunjin asks.

"There's no evidence," Jimin says, "You can't just trust their words."

"I'm sure they have old pictures of my mom and me," Hyunjin says, "They'll probably show them to me when we hang out."

"You're not hanging out with them," Namjoon states.

"Why?" Hyunjin questions, "They're my uncles!"

"They're not!" Jimin exclaims.

Hyunjin shakes his head, "Why are you so against them being my uncles? I know that it's a bit unlikely, but they're the only lead I have on my birth family. And what if they're telling the truth? That means they're my uncles! How can I just deny it without seeing if there's actually some truth in what they say? I could've found my family..." Namjoon looks at Jimin, not knowing what to say to convince their son. He's already upset with him for telling him to stay away from Jisung. If they insist, even more than they have been, to stay away from the couple that could possibly be his uncles, this could end up horribly. Jimin curtly nods at Namjoon, telling him that he'll handle this. Namjoon takes a step back, allowing Jimin to hopefully handle this situation. "Hyunjin, you can't trust those two," Jimin says, "You know that they're old friends, right? The reason that we're no longer close to them is because of an incident they did in the past. You see, Jinyoung and Jaebum are gang leaders. They did something to a mutual friend that they shouldn't have done. From there, they only continued to betray more and more people. They can't be trusted, Hyunjin. That's why you need to stay away from them. You can't trust what they say. They'll only warp your mind if you stick by them. They're not actually your uncles."

"Just cause they're gang leaders, doesn't mean that they're bad people," Hyunjin states, still not wanting to give up on his possible uncles. He knows that what his parents have told him makes it seem like Jinyoung and Jaebum did something wrong, but that was in the past. They don't seem like bad people now. "Just let me find out if they're actually my uncles," Hyunjin says, "If they're not, I won't speak to them again. But, if they are, you can't stop me from seeing them."

"We don't want you to get hurt. We don't know why they would tell you such a lie, but it isn't safe to spend another moment with them," Namjoon pleads, "Let us do some digging. Let us figure out if they're who they claim to be. You don't need to put yourself in that position."

"I won't get hurt," Hyunjin shakes his head, "I need to do this. This is about my birth family. I don't need you guys to get involved."

"Hyunjin, listen to us, please," Jimin states, "Jinyoung and Jaebum are not your uncles. We know who they are. We know what they did. They're not who you think they are!"

"What did they do? Why do you keep insisting that they're just saying they're my uncles to trick me?" Hyunjin asks, "You've barely scraped the surface of your history with them. You keep telling me to stay away and not trust them, when I don't even really know what happened between you two! You keep expecting me to just go with things when you won't even explain why."

Jimin frowns, "We're just trying to keep you safe."

"We only want what's best for you," Namjoon says. Hyunjin sighs, upset that his parents still won't tell him what happened in their past. He gets that his parents don't like Jaebum and Jinyoung, but Hyunjin can't just ignore what they said. There's a high chance that they're his birth family. The people that he's wondered about his entire life. The people that have finally found him. "You can't stop me from going to them. Not when there's a chance that they could be my family," Hyunjin exclaims, "We did this assignment in elementary school where we compared our parents' features to ours to show how traits are passed. All the kids were asked to bring a photo of them and their parents to school. The teacher projected the pictures on the screen and told the kids to point out features that they saw were similar. When the teacher put my picture up, one kid said he looks nothing like them. Another said it's cause you two weren't my real parents. A girl said it's cause we're a fake family. The entire class started laughing and I hid my head in shame. After that, I wanted nothing more than to find my actual family. And I may have found them today. They could be Jinyoung and Jaebum. And you're asking me to stay away?! From my actual family?! When I've spent years wondering if they could be out there. When I dreamed about the day that I would meet them. When all I've ever wanted is to have that. That missing part of my life. An actual family. Something I've never had." The room falls silent after that. Namjoon's face slowly falls as Hyunjin's words sink in. Jimin holds back tears and takes a step closer to Namjoon, placing an arm around his middle. They know that a birth family is something that has always been missing in their son's life, but they had done their best to try to fill that hole. They know Hyunjin would never stop thinking about the ones who really brought him into the world, but they thought he would be satisfied with the family they had given them. It's clear that they didn't do a good enough job. Hyunjin will always want his birth family more than any family that they could give him. Hyunjin looks to his parents and his chest seizes, realizing what he had just said. He lowers his head, he never wanted for it to come out that way. He appreciates his parents. He really does, but those words just spilled from him like a leaky faucet. And they came from somewhere. He didn't make them up. Somewhere, buried deep inside, those were Hyunjin's thoughts. He wants parents he shares blood with, just like all the other kids. He wants an actual family, not the one he's been given. He wants the one thing he has, but doesn't have at the same time. Even so, his parents didn't have to hear that in the way they did. "We know that we'll never be your birth family, but we've tried our hardest to be a family for you. An actual family," Namjoon says in a shaky tone. Jimin buries his face into Namjoon's shoulder and squeezes him tighter. Hyunjin doesn't move or say a single thing. His parents look to him with saddened faces before slowly walking out of the dining room. Hyunjin's heart clenches and it feels like there's a gaping hole in his chest. Why did he have to say that to them? The two people that have always been his family, blood or not.

Ooooooo, Hyunjin, that was mean. Crazy? Right? Poor Minjoon. Poor Jisung. JJP are something else and they're Hyunjin's uncle's on top of that. Things are going to get even more nuts from here on out. I hope you're all excited and ready. If you enjoyed this chapter please comment, vote, follow me, add this story to your library, and check out my Kpop One-Shots. Bye, bye!
