Chapter Eight - Rebels with a cause
A small group of us headed back together across the bridge and back onto castle grounds. It was a successful trip with nearly twenty names.
"Right, we need to find a place to practice, where Umbridge won't find out." he stated as we were all walking finally getting into being a teacher and planning a lesson.
"The streaking shack." Ginny offered
"Too small." Harry answered
"Forbidden forest?" Hermione suggested
"Not bloody likely." Ron countered back making me laugh at him. He stuck his tongue out at me and I returned the favour.
"What happens if Umbridge does find out?" Ginny wonders
"Who cares?" Hermione and I voiced
"I mean it's sort of exciting isn't it, breaking the rules?" Hermione added making me cheer
"We've made a rebel out of you! Only took us five years, but we did it." I jumped on her shoulders "Welcome to the dark side." I joked
"Who are you and what have you done with Hermione granger?" Ron questions
"She, Ronald is still here, only we've finally rubbed off on her. Rebel with a cause. Ayyyyyyye!" I laugh as we come off the bridge
"Okay over the next few days we should each come up with a couple of possibilities of places we can practice. We've got to make sure that wherever it is, there's no chance she can find us." he requested
"Will do, Harry."
------------
Another rule or torment as I call them, not that it mattered but all student organisations were disbanded, no quidditch team or anything of the like where she thought we were in a conspiracy. Which we were but she can shove it. We searched and thought of places but it was Neville who really came through.
"You've done it Neville, you've found the room of requirement." Hermione was impressed
"The what?" Ron questioned
"It's also known as the come and go room, what have you been reading?" I sigh "The room of requirement only appears when the person has real need of it. And is always equipped for the seekers needs." I explain what I had read on one of the rare occasions where something wasn't going on.
"So say you really needed the toilet." I groaned at my friend
"Charming, Ronald. But, yes that is the general idea." Hermione replies
"It's brilliant. It's like Hogwarts wants us to fight back." Harry thought
-------
Harry began with seeing how we went with the basics, Expeliarmus being one of them. He would teach us as a whole but where someone lacked in one thing he would tell them how and encouraged them to practice. One by one he gave us spells to try for the first few lessons. In class it was a very boring affair.
"You will copy the approved text four times for maximum retention, there will be no need to talk...."
"No need to think you mean." I mumble
"Wands away." she commented
At set times we would sneak into the room of requirement, careful to keep our wits about us and if the school knew we couldn't go out the same way we came in, she would open up onto a different corridor. In training Harry then began teaching us.
"Stunning is one of the most useful spells in your arsenal. it's sort of a Wizards bread and butter really. So come on Nigel. Give it your best shot." We all looked to the 12 year old
"Stupefy." he cast and sent them both flying backwards. I winced slightly
"Good, not bad at all. Nigel." next up was Ron and Hermione. Now this was the highlight of my day. Seeing Ron get his arse kicked by Hermione. Who stunned him first. I whooped and clapped going over to her.
"Ladies, is my best friend not amazing?" I bragged
"Vega, you're up next." Harry called making me look at "And Dean." We took our places and before he could even speak I stunned him
"Stupefy!" he flew backwards and landed on his butt.
------
We practice disarming our opponents, stunning them, levitating and moving them. I was levitating Nigel.
"A little higher." Harry moved my hand up a little and I glanced back at him with a small smile there was a yelp and I quickly turned back.
"Oh I'm so sorry. Nigel." I rushed over and helped him up
"I'm okay." he assured me
The twins had been up to their mischief again and Umbridge was becoming more control freak setting up a squad of Slytherin snitches that reported anything and every rule breaking they could find or make up.
-----
"Working hard is important, but there's something that matters even more. Believing in yourself. Think of it this way. Every great Wizard in history has started out as nothing more than what we are now; students. If they can do it, why not us."
