A Walk In The Park Isn't Exactly Easy

"I can't believe how fast time has passed since you got here!"
To your left, Daichi throws his arms over his head in a quick stretch as the four of you stop by a park bench. Tomorrow is the day of the U.A entrance exam, and your new friends are still trying to convince you to try your hand at them. Your Japanese has improved greatly, and your hand to hand combat skills don't suck as much as they used to when you first got here. You've also figured out how to properly use your quirk, and you're now able to fight along with your three partners with minimal mistakes. Although you truly miss your life back in your universe, along with your family and friends, you've found a place here with these people until you can find a way to return.
"No kidding. I feel like I just got here last week." With a soft smile and shake of your head, you reach over with one hand to feel for the familiar spheres in the pouches of your bag. Serpenoid presses into your touch, and Ingram floats up and out to sit on your shoulder.
"I'm just glad you don't completely suck at fighting anymore." Kaito bumps your shoulder with his, and Daichi stifles a chuckle at the redhead's words. True, you were much better then when you started, but memories of you getting your ass handed to you by Daichi and Kaito this morning make you cringe.
"Do you think you'll be participating in the U.A exams Y/n?" Benjiro clears his throat and looks over to you from beside Kaito. His blue-gray eyes catch yours as he asks the question, and you find yourself furrowing your brow.
"Honestly, I really want to. But if I do, I might mess things up."
"Right because you're from that other world and can't risk messing up the, quote on quote, plot of the show." Daichi's eyes wander over to the little lake as the four of you continue down the path. The three of them, along with their mentors had a hard time believing you about being from another world at first, but after managing to provide details about villains and heroes unknown to the public, they started to take you seriously.
Daichi was particularly distraught when he found out that he wasn’t a main character, so you didn’t have the heart to tell him that he wasn’t even in the anime or manga.
Few people are out this early, the trail you're on being mostly clear of people. So, when multiple screams sound out up ahead, the four of you pause for only a moment, before Benjiro rushes towards the sound, muttering something about already having his provisional license. Kaito and Daichi follow without hesitation, and curiosity washes over you, prompting you to tag along right behind.
Benjiro is much faster than you and Kaito, with only Daichi being able to keep up, and even Kaito soon leaves you in the dust. Ingram shoots back down to his pocket with a muffled ‘hurry’, and you push yourself to go faster.
People rush by you going the opposite way, making you grip your bag tighter. When you get to the scene of the chaos, Daichi and Kaito are already watching the showdown between Benjiro and a villain that you don't recognize.
"Take him down Overload!" Kaito yells out to his best friend from a safe distance as the ice breathing villain sends anther stream of frozen crystals towards the hero in training. Your fingers twitch towards the front pockets of your bag as Benjiro maneuvers closer to the villain while dodging his frost breath.
The blue haired boy manages to brush his fingers over the villains back, and quickly activates his quirk. The villain shouts, a wisp of frosty air escaping his lips as sight is taken away, and Benjiro swivels on his feet, leaning on one foot to bring the other up and kick the villain square in the back. The feet of the people that had been frozen to the ground are starting to thaw, and you find yourself running after Daichi to help return their scattered belongings to them.
Ushering a couple away from the scene, you snap your attention back to the flailing villain as he opens his mouth and wildly uses his quirk on the area around him.
Luckily, you’re too far away to be hit, as the icy breath fizzles out after a couple meters, but Daichi is hit on the back as he lunges in front of a little girl. Kaito quickly rushes forwards, intending to melt the ice on Daichi’s back, and Benjiro shouts for the two of them to get to a safe distance. That’s when you see that said Hero was hit. Benjiro is frozen from the waist down, standing protectively in front of a teenage boy, and the villain follows the sound of his voice to land a solid punch to his face.
“Overload!” You run forwards, instinctively throwing yourself into the path of the villains next punch. Raising one arm, you deflect the sloppy punch, and jab one fist into his throat. Gasping for air, the villain stumbles back, and Kaito runs over towards the three of you with Daichi hot on his heels.
“Are you crazy?! You can’t fight a villain!”
You mind speeds through the laws, a certain loophole coming to mind, and you shake your head as Kaito draws heat from the sunlight to melt the ice holding Benjiro captive.
“I’m pretty sure it’s legal, as long as I don’t use my quirk!”
Daichi grins at the realization, and glances between Benjiro and the villain.
“Y/n’s right! Benjiro let us help!” He’s pleading as the cold hero is finally freed, but Benjiro sighs.
“I can’t allow you to do that. It wouldn’t be safe for anyone. Please just get everyone out of the area until the police arrive.” With that said, Benjiro launches himself back towards the villain, and you’re left vaguely frustrated.
“Think about it this way, if one of us got injured, or seriously injured the villain, the blame would fall on him, and it might go on his record.” Kaito continues helping thaw people’s feet, and you sigh as you realize, he’s right. Together, you and Daichi finish helping the people that Kaito thawed to get away, and the next time you look over to Benjiro to check and make sure he’s alright, the underground hero has already knocked out the villain, and is snapping on quirk canceling cuffs given to him by the police that have now arrived.
The rest of your walk is rather uneventful, as Kaito is now feeling some of the drawbacks of his quirk, and Benjiro is trying to warm up his legs that are still tingly from the cold. The hero suit he wears under his everyday clothes doesn’t exactly regulate heat, so he relies on just sticking close to Kaito, who gives off plenty of natural heat due to his quirk. A faint bruise is forming on Benjiros face, and you watch as Kaito digs into his bag, pulling out an icepack to give to his friend.
“You know, you would make a good hero with us.” Daichi sidles up beside you as you rub your forearm, and you glance up at him.
“I don’t know…” Logically thinking, you probably could become a hero, especially with the training you had already been given by the underground heroes you’re currently living with. But honestly? You don’t like the idea of getting injured in the field.
Training is safe. Your mentors don’t want to kill you. Villains do want to kill you though most of the time, and you fear the thought of dying in this world.
"I'll think about it."
