Rewrite the Stars Part 3

Hey ya'll here's PART 3 to REWRITE THE STARS!! I hope you guys are enjoying this short as much as I am writing it! Do you like my edit up top? The background makes Devan look like he has a mustache tho but ALL WELL😂😂 I have a song up top you can play before, during, or after you read. If you play it during you can start it like ANYWHERE that has a setting change, so if you you wanna do that go ahead!

Anyways here's a recap of the last short;

..."Vanessa is my first crush. She's the only person that caused my heart stop, made my knees weak every time I saw her, the one person who could brighten up my day just knowing she was happy," he stared at the older brother with hurt eyes, "I think I fell in love with her, Collins. How can I see her normally again when the only feeling inside of me is wanting her to be mine when she's with someone else?" ...

...Roni just nodded, looking away, "Okay, but back to Devan..Collins told me that he's been locking himself away because of the fight." He was shutting himself out..because of me? She didn't mean to hurt him like this! How can she ever face him now? He probably hates her!

"....and maybe you could just talk to him abo-." Vanessa stood up quickly from the bed and stuttered out, "I have to go meet up with Harrison now." She went and grabbed her purse as her sister spoke, "But what about-." Nessa forced her tears away, "B-Bye Roni." That's when she sped out of the house as quickly as possible leaving her sister in distraught once more...

...Vanessa felt more tears welling up in her eyes. Even her fans knew something was wrong! She can't lie to herself and say everything's okay. It's not okay! She just ruined a relationship and she may never get it back! But..she needed to keep this hidden, or she'd just hurt someone else. A tear fell down her cheek and she wiped it on her sleeve, pulling out of the driveway. You can't rewrite the stars, their bound to break and her hands are tied...

Okay you guys'!! The moment you've all been waiting for...Rewrite the Stars PART 3!!!

Vanessa got out of her car, arriving at her boyfriend's apartment building. Numbness and agony filled the girl's mind as she stepped out of the vehicle. She didn't want to be there. She had no idea why, but right then she felt discomfort. Come on Nessa, stop being a baby, she scolded herself. Holding her head down, the young woman walked up the sidewalk, climbing the stairs, and to the wooden door in front of her. She stood there hesitantly for a few moments, holding in her breath, and then she pounded her fist softly against the door.

Soon, Harrison opened the door to see his girlfriend with a grin appearing on his complexion, "Hey babe!" Nessa gave a little smile, "Hey Harrison." The man leaned down to her face and pecked her lips affectionally. As he pressed his lips against hers, Vanessa couldn't help but feel queasy. What was happening to her? She used to love his kisses..but now she didn't feel the spark like she once did.

But..she formed a fake smile for him to see after he pulled away. Harrison took her hands and led her inside the room. Nessa had been in his apartment many times before, although she noticed it looked smaller than she last remembered it. The kitchen blended into the living room, the furniture crammed against one another making it harder to move around. She glanced at the open bedroom to see an unmade bed and cloths streamed all around. Would she have to sleep in that?

Harrison moved some junk off the couch and they sat down, "So, wanna have something to eat? I have pizza in the fridge..or we can order take out." Vanessa played with the braid in her hair, "Whatever you want is fine." He started to raise an eyebrow, "You sure.. because I just want to make you happy." She winced hearing the sentence he uttered. I don't know if anything could make me happy right now, she thought. The Merrell Twin just kindly said, looking up at him, "I haven't had pizza in a while.." The boyfriend grinned again, "Okay! Leftover pepperoni pizza coming right up!"

He nuzzled his nose into hers before getting up to get their food. The girl just giggled nervously in response and her eyes faded. Nessa didn't get it. She always loved when Harrison did that to her..but now she felt sick. Why was she feeling this way? As she waited for her boyfriend, Vanessa pulled out her phone. She started to skim her social media until she noticed something that she had never saw before on Twitter;

When was this?? People actually shipped them together? Nessa rethought that response, people ship anything these days. But what she was going to find next would surprise her even more;

Vanessa felt her cheeks begin to burn as she read his kind words towards her. He...he thought I was beautiful? That I was talented? She reread the message over and over again in awe. How could she have been so blind? Devan really did like her, didn't he?

There were so many comments following that;

Collins_Devan_AreBae ~ Oh my gosh!! 😱😱

17_fan_girl ~ Devan is so sweet!! Nessa should be dating him instead!

fluffydixon ~ AWEE I SHIP IT!!😍😍💕💕

yahoooo582 ~ Devnessa all the way!!

collinsgirl_1 ~ Devan must really respect her or secretly loves her.. I assume they're both true but I'm betting my money on the first one!😏💸

Nessa frowned seeing them all figure it out before she had. Devan had feelings for her..and she never knew. None of this made her feel any better, it just made her more clueless.

"Nessa?" Startled, Vanessa looked up to see Harrison holding a slice of pizza on a plate toward her. He asked again as she looked at him dumbfounded, "Nessa? Are you okay? I have your pizza.." Now she remembered. The girlfriend looked at the greasy substance and frowned, turning to her hands, "I'm not really hungry right now."

Suddenly, the man set down the glass plate and huffed out some air, sitting down next to the girl. He looked her in the eyes, "Okay enough of this. You've been acting different for almost a week to me. Something's up with you and I don't know what I did to deserve it." Vanessa shook her head quickly at him, "No no no, you didn't do anything wrong, Harrison!"

"Then tell me what's up with you?" Nessa stared into his pupils. He looked so hurt and angry. He didn't need to be punished like this. Tell him the truth Nessa. Don't keep fighting your feelings, she said to herself. She took a breath in, a deep shaky breath, "I'm sorry, I'm really s-sorry! I just..," she looked away with despair, "Me and Devan had a fight a week ago and we haven't talked since. I'm just upset about it, is all." Harrison voiced a question, "Devan Key?" Nessa said quietly, "Yeh."
"Hmm."

There is an airy silence between them as they sat at the couch. It wasn't until Harrison asked the next fragment of words that things began to clear into view, "Why were you guys fighting?" Vanessa peered at the table in front of her, unable to look at him, "He told me he's had feelings for me." The boy next to her spoke once more, hoping what he was about to say was wrong, "..Do you have feelings for him back?" Nessa felt her heart stop as memories of her and Devan floated in her mind, memories she'd never forget. Running through the meadow, chasing after their siblings, him playfully teasing her about things she'd always laugh about, the endless nights of texting one another. The sensation of her lips turning up when he looked at her...him taking her hands...him speaking her name.

Butterflies filled her stomach just thinking about it..until she realized Harrison was waiting for an answer. Vanessa stopped and fiddled with her fingers once more, "I..I don't know..." her boyfriend got the picture and nodded solemnly. He clasped his hands together, scrunching his lips in defeat. He grabbed Nessa's arms and forced her to look at him. Bluntly, Harrison spoke, "You love Devan," he continued for her, "I never wanted to admit it but I could see the way you guys look at each other. I saw a spark between you two immediately, I still tried to avoid it..I can't anymore. You're in love with him." Her eyes met his. His eyes showed pain, yet he knew this was important for her to hear. Would she take it? "Yes," She whispered feeling the tears come, her lower lip trembling, "It's him. It's always been him."

Tears leaked down her cheeks helplessly, "Harrison, I'm so so sorr..." He shushed her gently as she tried to apologize, "It's okay, it's all okay..," he hugged her tightly as she hugged him back, then they pulled away, "I think you know what you need to do. Go find him. He deserves a beautiful girl like you..I just wished things would've worked out between us," Nessa began to frown at him but he reassured her, "But it was fun while it lasted. I care about you too much to see you like this, but if fate brings us together again..I'd be really psyched." Vanessa hugged him one more time, "Thanks, Harrison."
"Anytime, Vanessa." And with that, she was gone wiping the tears from her eyes, knowing what she must do.

Collins sat on the couch in the living room tiredly as Roni laid her head on his shoulder. She came over, just sobbing how Nessa isn't being honest to her and not knowing why. Veronica let her eyes close leaning on her boyfriend, "I just care about her too much, you know?" The other nodded without a word, thinking about his brother who was still tucked away upstairs.

They sat there for about a few minutes till the silence was unbearable for both of them and went to look for a movie to watch. They found an old romance saga that neither of them had seen and just snuggled into each other. Although their minds were distant so they never even paid attention to the screen. It was more of a noise in the room to make the silence vanish.

Ding Dong. The doorbell rang all across the house. Collins pulled away from Veronica and made his way to the front entrance. Strange..he wasn't expecting visitors. The young man grabbed the knob and pulled it open to see Vanessa standing there with her hands connected together in front of her body. She looked nervous but a sheepish smile formed on her face, "Hey Collins," she looked over and saw her sister, "hey Roni." Her sister called to her beginning to smile, "Hey Nessa!" Veronica walked over and hugged her tightly. Collins asked confused, "I thought you were on a date with Harrison." Nessa looked down sadly but not moving her stance, "Yeah, I was..," she changed the subject to the real reason she was there, "Is Devan here?"

Collins blinked a moment standing there, "Uh, yeah. I'll go get him." He backed away slowly and went up the stairs. I hope this will get him out of there or I don't know what will, Collins thought worriedly. The older one made it to his door and knocked on it softly, "Dev, Nessa is downstairs asking for you." No response came from the room for a few seconds, then there were sounds of bed springs clanging as weight shifted from the other side of the room.

The door opened with a creak to reveal Devan stand there with dark lines under his eyes, his hair sticking up every which way, looking plain miserable. Collins tried to smile as Devan looked up at him, "Come on, Nessa's waiting." The younger one looked confused, "Why is she here?" The other shrugged, "I don't know, but she asked for you specifically."

So the two went down the steps to see the twins talking with one another then twisting their heads at the boys in front of them. Vanessa felt her mouth turn upward at the sight if the key boy, "Hey." Devan's eyes lock onto hers, his heart beginning to quicken, "Hey." It was silent between them as they never averted their gaze, Collins and Roni feeling excluded from the moment. Nessa cleared her throat, speaking softly, "Can I talk to you outside?" He nodded,  putting his hands in his jacket pockets, "Sure." They began to make their way awkwardly out the door, shutting it behind them as Collins and Roni looked at each other and raced over to the cracked window, peeking through the blinds to spy on them.

Devan and Vanessa stood there on the Key porch quiet..and in thought. Why was it suddenly so awkward to speak? Nessa examined the boy quickly seeing how bent out of shape he really was, then she saw his head of hair. She smirked staring up at the rats nest, "This is one of the rarest times I've seen your hair not styled." Devan self consciously combed his fingers through his hair, "Yeh well it wasn't really a priority to me." The girl sighed at the sentence, "Devan..I'm so sorry for what I said to you earlier. I should've been more sensitive to your feelings, I just didn't know what I felt yet."

Vanessa picked a her t-shirt as the other continued to be silent, "Harrison and I broke up." Devan was tongue tied. Was he the reason they broke up? Is it his fault? What would he say to her? There was nothing he COULD say! He said concerned, "I'm sorry. That must be rough." Nessa nodded, not feeling very upset about it anymore, "Yeah but we made sure we'd stay friends." The boy continued watching her face, seeing if she's being honest. She didn't show any signs of fibbing so he spoke, "I'm still sorry that you two broke up."

"...You know what was worse than the actual breakup?"

"What?"

"That I lied to myself for so long about how I really feel about you." Devan began to flush at her words. What did she mean by that? Nessa moved closer to him, "Harrison is a good guy, and I think he's amazing and funny..," she stopped and turned her face from Devan. He asked felt himself grow nervous, "But?" Nessa's face grew a bright crimson looking back at Devan, "He wasn't you." There were tears in her eyes staring at him. Devan had a lump grow in his throat right then staring at her soft, beautiful complexion.

Vanessa never left his gaze, "You mean so much to me, Devan. I want you in my life forever, you can't leave me. I just hope our relationship is the same as it was before." What if I want it to be more than what it was, Devan asked himself. He saw a tear trickle down her cheek and he went to wipe it off, "Please don't cry, Nessa. I hate seeing you cry," the boy began to joke, "unless if it's about you admitting that you took the last meatball during supper we had two weeks ago. If it is then keep going."

Vanessa began to giggle at the memory as Devan did as well, "Oh stop it, Devan! You aren't over that by now?" He started pointing a finger at her, "Ha, so you confess!" A grin spread across her face, he's back, "Shut up, Dev!" They both laughed harder, missing these times they had together. Nessa sighed in relief, "So..are we friends again?" Devan smiled at her, it's better than not seeing her in general, "Yeah..of course we are."

The twin smiled at him, feeling accomplished, "Good, come here!" Vanessa opened up her arms and Devan did the same, wrapping around her waist and she put her arms around his neck. They held each other tightly for a long time, feeling their hearts beat as one. Time felt like it had stopped and they were the only beings on the Earth, holding onto each other. Still clung onto one another, the two pulled their heads back slightly as their eyes locked. They never left their gaze and continued to stare. Nessa felt her heart quicken as she began thinking, I want to be something more..

...than what we once were, Devan thought, the butterflies in his stomach rising. Their heads began to move closer, very steadily. Vanessa's eyes never left his crystal blue ones, He really loves me. Devan's never left those dark chocolate ones, I love her. They moved closer, inches from one another. Nessa felt her pupils wander to Devan's mouth, ..And I love him. She leaned in, closing her eyelids. Devan saw this action, inches from her lips. He leaned towards her and never stopped his movement. And then they—

"Hey you two!" Devan and Vanessa stopped dead in movement, their lips practically brushing one another. The two pulled out of their grasp quickly to see Collins and Veronica standing there, just now opening the door but secretly had seen everything. Their faces were a deep red, now avoiding to look at each other. Collins spoke innocently, "Are you guys making up?" Dev and Nessa glanced at the couple then beside them. The girl rubbed her arm, "Yeah, we're friends again." The other rubbed his neck, "Yep, just friends."

Silence overtook the air again, not a depressed silence but a more something-wanted-to-be-said-but-is-left-unsaid silence. Vanessa gave a nervous cackle, "Hey, is there food inside? I didn't eat lunch." Before anyone could respond, she pushed her way into the house, "You know what, I'll go look." She was gone. Veronica and Collins looked at Devan who blurted out, "I'm gonna go to the bathroom," he stopped and mentally slapped himself, "Why am I telling you this?" He went inside and disappeared down the hall.

Vollins glanced at each other in confusion. Collins began to grow a grin across his face, "You thinking what I'm thinking?" Veronica started to smirk, "Let's do it." With a peck on the lips, there minds began to wander how they could get their siblings to express there real feelings.
