Lies Part 2

Hey guys! This is the second part of Lies! I hope you enjoy it!! Let's recap from last time;

..Mac ignored what he asked and persisted, "Tell me the truth..am I your biological sister?"

She was trembling while she waited for him to speak. Collins didn't know what to say. He decided to come right out and say it, "No...Mac, you aren't," he felt his fingers through his hair, letting out a shaky breath, "You are adopted..." Macaylee felt her heart began to shatter into a million pieces, "You all..lied to me." Devan said softly behind, "Mac.." She didn't listen, "All this time..everything! It was all fake!" Collins stepped closer to her, "Macaylee, it isn't like that at all..we just didn't want to tell you because—," he felt his throat close up, unsure what to say, "—be-because.."

Mac faced her head down now, the tears splintering through, "Wow..I can't believe it. To think I thought I had the best family..just to find out they really weren't." Collins reached his hand to the little one, "Mac, please let me explain—." Macaylee pulled her body away from him and hissed, "Don't touch me!" The man stopped in his movement, not sure what to do but stand there. It was a chilling wryness as Mac quivered in her spot and finally vanished into her room once again, locking it tight. Helplessly, Collins squinted his eyes shut with his heart in pain. What had they done? Devan thought the same thing, feeling more depressed than before. He put a hand on his forehead and tried to wrap his mind across what they should do next. What could they do next..but stand there in distraught...

Okay!! Without further delay, here's part two!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been two days since the boys had spoken to Macaylee. She had been ignoring them, and avoided seeing her siblings any time possible. It was really hurting the brothers, especially Collins. He was the older brother, he was supposed to make sure his family stuck together, but now everything was falling apart. He failed. Collins didn't feel like he could talk to anyone about what he was feeling. He didn't want to bring it up if he didn't have to with Devan and he wasn't going to worry his parents while they were away. The boy felt he was trapped in his own mind. What was he going to do without his sister..?
"Collins?" The young man flinched into existence, standing in his living room, after being deep in thought. He turned his head to see it was Devan, watching him with concern. He averted his eyes from his brother and stuttered out, "Sorry..I was thinking." He felt his brother pat his shoulder, "It's Mac again, isn't it?" The older one didn't answer for a long while, but soon nods unable to speak. It was silent for a long time till the younger key suggested, "Maybe we shouldn't post a Youtube video today. We can always do it tomorrow or even next week."
"No..it's fine. The keypers have been requesting us to do the slime challenge for a long time now. Come on, help me get these containers of borax outside." Devan glanced down at the containers Collins held out to him. This was the problem, the magician works so hard to not let anyone down that he doesn't see that he needs to take care of his well being too. The key brother just sighed and took the jars and the two walked outside to set up shop.
Macaylee stood by her window, observing the scene in the backyard of her "brothers" setting up for a video. She was still angry at them. They lied to her their whole life about being adopted, and she wasn't sure if she'd ever forgive them. Mac pulled down her blinds, "I bet they are better off without me anyway.." Too bad she didn't have the heart to run away like her mind was telling her too. She just sat in a ball on her bed and began to cry.
"Wassup guys, it's Collins Key. Today we will be..," Collins groaned, he put a hand on his face as they sat outside in front of a table that had all of their slime equipment set. Everything was ready to go, now they have to get through the intro. I forgot to introduce Devan! Why are you such a failure at everything Collins? A horrible brother and Youtuber! Devan just sat beside him staring down at his hands. He wasn't all there and knew Collins was getting frustrated. The boy could feel the tightness of the other body next to him. The older one tried recollecting himself and stare up at the camera, plastering a fake smile across his face, "Wassup guys, today we'll be—." He stopped talking and bit his lip angrily. I messed up again! So stupid.., he scolded himself.
Devan looked over at him wearily, "Maybe we should just..take a break and do this later." Collins knew he was right, but didn't want to believe it, "One more try.." As he was about to start once again, his brother grabbed his wrist and pulled his arm down, "No Collins, we both know that this isn't working out. Please..stop acting like everything's okay." That hit the young man like a ton of bricks. Unsure what to do, he stood up and scuffed stormily away far from Devan. He needed to burn off some steam, he needed to leave.
The little brother just stared as Collins left the table filled with gadgets of slime gear, the camera and went inside the house, slamming the screen door shut. Devan hated seeing him like this, but what could he do? He yawned tiredly, the bags under his eyes forming and his stomach cramping from hunger. The boy hadn't been taking care of himself and it's grown worse since Mac and Collins's change in behavior. The necessity for it was useless when the people he loved weren't getting along. He felt misery gripping on his heart and twisting it's way through. Bitterness took hold of him and didn't know what to do but sit there in distraught.
Collins huffed around the living room in attempt to cool down. Nothing was working. The urge to punch something surged through his body, but he chose against it. Why was this happening to me? Why was I failing so horribly at everything? What can I do to save the fate of my family? Everything seemed hopeless, too hopeless..
It was the next morning, a Friday morning. Usually this day was favored to everyone, but today it was dreaded by the key siblings. Macaylee sat at the table and ate her bowl of cereal silently, ignoring her brothers entirely. Collins longed to be able to talk to her, but he knew she wouldn't listen if he tried. He sat at the wooden furniture and watched her in silence. Devan was upstairs doing gosh knows what so the older brother was pretty much on his own. He missed his family..
"So, Mac," Collins started to say nervously, "Dev and I will be picking you up after school..be sure to not go on the bus." Was that another one of his lies, Maycaylee thought angrily. All she did was nod and take her last bite of honey nut cheerios. Collins felt his hand clamp up, a lump began to form in his throat. Why won't she talk to me...? Forcing the tears back, the man stood up and went to fetch his keys to take his mute sister to school.
Devan sat his room in silence, this time it felt so unbearable. He clenched his stomach as it fiercely grumbled in agony, Just eat something, Devan. You know it's healthy to.. But he pushed it aside as his depressed state consumed him, eating away his sense of direction. He winced, the migraines from earlier returning. The boy heard a clanging sound come from downstairs and a slam of the front door. They left..without saying anything to him. Was he not worthy to even the people who lived in his home? Tons of emotions filled his heart and he wasn't sure if he wanted to cry or punch a hole into a wall. What was happening to him..?
Macaylee once again roamed the halls of her school, keeping her mouth shut from everyone. She could tell her teachers were concerned for her, but none said anything to her let alone come and ask if something was wrong. The girl didn't mind it because she didn't feel like talking. She almost made it through a school day without Jessica and her girl group messing with her, but then it happened.
It was after school, and being a good person at heart, she waited for Collins and Devan to come pick her up in front of the school. That's when terror struck. "Hey Mac," Jess slithered, creeping behind the girl, her friends surrounding her, "how's everything going for you lately?" Mac didn't do anything but stare down at the floor. The mean girl hissed, "How's your 'brothers'?" Again, she refused to fall into her games, but that one part got to her. Jessica looked at her posse and asked, "What's wrong, cat got your tongue?" Maycaylee was silent, possibly for too long because she could feel the enemy growing upset.
Suddenly, she felt a hand grip her arm, sharp nails slicing into her skin. Jess gritted between her teeth into the key girl's ear, "If you won't talk, we'll make you talk." Before she knew it, Mac's stomach tightened as a fist penetrated her, knocking the wind from her lungs. She coughed and bent down to the floor, gasping for air. Weird, they've never gotten physical with her before..why now? They snickered at her pain, they craved it. They wanted more. There was a tug on her long locks, practically ripping the hair from her scalp, taking her to the ground. Her face smacked the cement and she saw Jess squat beside her, "You gonna cry now, dweeb?" She slapped the poor girl across the face while the other villians began kicking her body with their pointy heels.
That's when Macaylee began to cry out in agony. Bruises were all over her flesh, she couldn't get up. She couldn't breathe. Tears spurred into existence, "Help..!" Collins..Devan..help me!
Collins rode in the car with Devan on their way to get Mac from school. It was silent as usual and coincidently, 'Sad Song' by We Are Kings came on the radio. The older one looked over at Devan. He looked worse than before..like a ghost. Devan had black lines under his eyes, he wore the same outfit as he did the other day maybe before then, his face looked dead. This made him worried but he fought to not say anything. Just focus on the road, Collins.
As they made their way towards the building, they noticed something gave them complete horror. Their sister, Mac, laid on the ground in a cocoon shape as a bunch of school girls kicked her consistently. Not even having a chance to properly park, the two boys abruptly opened the door and ran towards the action. "Hey! LEAVE MY SISTER ALONE!!" Collins yelled at them as his brother followed quickly behind. The mean girls stopped their beatings and saw the key brothers running toward them. Fear in their eyes and realization coming into view, they screamed and ran in the other direction.
Collins and Devan knelt down beside their sister, pulling her up. "Maycaylee! Can you hear me? How many fingers am I holding up," the older one asked extremely terrified. Mac stared up at them and the tears continued down her face, "I'm f-fine Collins...I wanna go home." Devan nodded reaching for her waist as the other repiled, "Okay, let's get you home." Once the boy touched her side, Mac cried out in pain, pulling away, "Ouch!" The two boys looked at each other then back at her and began to cautiously pick her up.
{Time Skip}
Deadly quiet lingered in the air. No one talked, just tears from the sobbing girl in the backseat could be heard. Collins and Devan felt horrible for her and almost couldn't keep a straight face. They longed for her to be alright, why can't she be alright? Once the siblings were home in the living room, everything came into voice. "Who were those girls?" Collins asked Mac, trying to hide his burning hate for who hurt his sister. The youngest one kept her hair in her eyes, while Devan went to get a ice pack from the freezer, "Not now.."
"Yes now, Mac. I'm not keeping my mouth shut anymore.. I care for you too much to stay silent." Devan handed her the ice cold pack and she placed it on her arm, "First, you answer any questions I have about my birth family, the truth this time, and then I might tell you." Collins froze in place on the couch. He looked away quickly to see what the other brother was thinking. Devan didn't look up, it was as if he was in deep thought. He glanced back at Macaylee whom waited for an answer. The magician sighed helplessly, "Okay..what do you wanna know?"
"When was I adopted?" Collins felt an uneasiness in his heart, but he persisted his promise, "March 14th, 2008." Mac raised an eyebrow suddenly, how did he pull that date from the top of his head? "That's..my birthday." The eldest nodded, his eyes glossing over, "Well, we didn't have your birthdate when we adopted you so we used the day you came into our lives." Macaylee began to continue with a stutter, "Where..did I come from?"
"Brooklyn, New York at their TLC Adoption Center."
"Who are my real parents names?"
"I..I don't know that," Collins said, avoiding eye contact. Mac squinted at him, unsure if he's being honest, "Why not?" He rubbed his face, fatigue, "I truthfully don't know. All I heard from mom was you were found in a alleyway by a young family, all alone and in tattered cloths. No one was even around to give you a name.. The people brought you to a hospital to check for injuries then sent you to the adoption center. And..when our mom wanted to have a kid, she and dad decided to adopt," his eyes wandered, "I remember following our parents around the building and seeing all of the different children that were there. There was so many of them, I didn't know how to process it all. Then we found you..and we all loved you instantly."
Macaylee felt her eyes water, "If you loved me so much, then why didn't you tell me all of this.?" Collins explained, feeling guilty in the process, "We wanted to wait until you were old enough to understand it all, maybe we were too comfortable or too scared to tell you..we didn't want you to want to find them and forget about us," his voice cracked as he spoke, "I'm so sorry you had to find out this way, Macaylee. It wasn't our intentions at all.." Collins watched Devan again whom stayed in his same position, a shadow covering his features. Ignoring it, the older key began to say, "Now, who were those girls?"
Mac swallowed hard as she heard his command. She wiped her eyes and began to speak, "They are girls at school they like to pick on me. I have no idea why they hate me so much, but they love spreading gossip about me and teasing me. I..I had told them you were my brothers many times in attempt to search for something in common since they obsess over you both all the time. But..they never believed me. They just continued to call me a lier and call me stupid. And what they said got to me..I realized what they said was true and it hurt. I'm so worthless, nobody likes me, and I'll never be loved!"
She started to burst into tears and Collins felt himself leaned toward her, hugging her little body into his. He spoke into her ear, "It's all gonna be okay..we're here for you. It's okay..please stop crying.." Macaylee cried harder into his chest, never wanting to let go again. The two pulled away slowly and gave their attention to Devan who was starting to shake. "Devan?" The young sister uttered cautiously. Suddenly, for the first time that day, the artist opened his mouth, "Please..please don't be this way, Mac. You have no idea what it does to us—to me when you say these things. You are such a beautiful, talented and courageous girl. Don't let your pain overtake you. Don't go endless nights without sleep, wishing you were someone else! Don't stay locked in your room, not wanting anything more to just cry yourself to death! Wasting time just-just hating yourself! Telling yourself that you aren't good enough and no one cares a dang if I just die!!"
Collins and Mac's face go pale instantly hearing Devan's response. He just said "I" referring to himself..oh Devan what's going on with you? Collins thought to himself, his heart shattering. The younger boy soon sobs out of control, unable to see anymore as the tears blocked his vision. He was desperate now. Desperate for love, desperate for comfort, desperate for this depression to stop killing him slowly! It feels like it's just trapped inside with no way to come out. He can't hold it in anymore, he won't keep it in anymore.
The arms of his siblings embraced him reassuringly and his whimpers grew, his body aching for intimacy. Macaylee spoke in between sobs as she and Collins cried for their brother, "D-Don't worry Devan, I won't! I-I am never going to push you guys out! You are the best things in my life and I can't make it without you! We may n-not be blood related, but you are my brothers and I love you guys!"
"We love you too, Macaylee," Collins spoke through chokes of sobs. The three sat there in a huddle and held each other for infinity. They were never going to keep what they felt from each other again, ever.
