Heartbreak Part 2
Hey ya'll! So I've decided to create a part 2 to heartbreak! I hope you enjoy it!
Here's where we left off:
Once the door shut, the younger one sighed as he grabbed his chinese food, thinking about what Collins said, "Stars cannot shine without darkness" He looked down at the sketch he was working on and frowned. How can stars shine if there's fog blocking it's sight?
Welp, hope you enjoy the chapter!😄

"Hey twigs" Devan looked up to see Jesse standing in front of him, "Just leave me alone Jesse! Where's the gain in doing this to me?!" Jesse gave a evil laugh, "To see you squirm" Without any notice, the bully slung his fist into Devan square in the face. The young boy toppled over onto the floor. Everything went dark. His eyes opened suddenly to see a spotlight on him and everything else around was pitch black. Cackles filled the void with harassment penetrating his heart.
"Why are you so awkward, Devan?"
"Do you wonder why you don't have friends, Devan?"
"Everyone hates you, just disappear, Devan!"
Disappear... For every harsh word, he got socked in the chest, his legs, his head. Devan dropped to his knees with uncontrollable sobs. No one cared, no one cares about him. No one can reach out to him? Was he that pathetic?!But suddenly, there were screams coming from the tormenters and he didn't feel the poundings anymore against his back. He continued to shake in fear on the ground until he felt a hand softly touch his back. Devan looked up and saw a glowing light with a silhouette of a girl staring at him. She had a kind complexion, she was beautiful with a soft smile directed to him. The boy felt his eyes sag and his body drop to the floor. Then he passed out with the last statement releasing him, "Better things are coming."....
Devan felt his body jolt in his sleep and he woke up with a gasping breath. His eyes came into focus, staring ahead across the room. His breathing was quick, tense. Sweat came down his forehead and he wiped them off trying to relax himself. It was all a dream Devan, he said to himself, but why did it feel so real?
He wiped a tear that came down his cheek and pulled himself out of bed. Devan rubbed his eye and yawned waking over to his dresser. As the boy went to open one of the drawers, his stomach twisted into a tight knot. If he goes to school today, they would all make fun of him again. Devan doesn't know how he'll avoid Jesse, as well as Chloe. He slowly closed his dresser drawer finding his solution.
The young boy left his bedroom and headed down the staircase towards the kitchen where his family ate breakfast. The scent of warm pancakes and crispy bacon lingered in the air as he inched closer. Devan thought it sounded delightful, but he was too depressed to eat anything. He turned the corner hearing his parents and Collins chatting about some family reunion coming up. Once the sophomore walked into the room, their faces depicted happiness yet they were confused why Devan was in his pajamas. The mother asked her boy slightly confused, "Morning Dev, shouldn't you be dressed by now?" He sighed looking down at his hands, "Can I stay home from school today? I'm not feeling well."
That confused the rest of the family. Devan has close to never missed a day of school. He'd always fight with his parents to take him to school even when he had 102 degree fevers. Devan was either really sick or something was wrong. Anne glanced at her husband and back to her son, "Of course, sweetie. I hope you get better. Do you want me to get you some pancakes? Bacon?" The boy looked at the stacked pancakes and bacon beside them on the table. It looked so good. But, Devan answered with a stutter, "I-I'm not really hungry right now. Maybe later."
That's when everyone knew something wasn't right. It's unlike Devan to not want to eat in the morning. He felt his forehead perspire and began to walked backward, "I'm gonna lay down for a while." And with that, he was gone.
Collins didn't get it. Last night he had thought Devan was doing fine after their talk. Maybe he was missing something. Devan walked away and both parents turned their direction to the boy. His dad spoke first, "You need to talk to him." The older one just sighed, "I did last night. He was telling me how he's been not liking school and I told him what mom always told about stars not shining without darkness, but I guess he's still feeling worried.." His mother placed her fingers on Collins's hand, "Devan needs you right now, Collins. You're his best friend. Please help him." Collins nodded as an idea formed in his head, "I will mom. I think I have just the thing!" His parents smiled as Collins got up to go set up.
After an hour and a half, Collins raced up the stairs into Devan's bedroom. As he swung the door open, he saw his little brother working on a painting on his canvas. He looked to be really focused on it. But the older one couldn't wait to tell him his idea.
Collins circled around and stood behind the artist as his painted;
The proud brother shook his head in disbelief, "I dont know how you do it, Dev! It seems like every new creation is even better than the last." Devan just nodded still stroking a teardrop. Collins then spoke, "Now I think it's time for you to take a short break." The younger brother continued to work slightly annoyed, "If you are wanting me to stop working because you want me to eat lunch, I'll pass." The other chuckled a little, "It's only been at least two hours, Devan. I want you to do something better."
"..I'm listening," Devan replied with a little curiosity. Collins smiled as he said this, "I need you to help me out with a new video." The interest he had once before deflated, "Collins, that's no different than any other time I helped-." The older one stopped him, "No, you don't understand. I want you to be in the video with me!"
Now that got the young key's attention. He has always wanted to be apart of Collins videos, but he never had the chance to. Devan stopped painting and let his brother continue, "Come on, bro. It'll be so much fun and all my fans have been requesting to see you." What? Devan turned his body around and faced him, "They've been requesting..to see me?" He pointed at his own chest as he said "me". Collins reassured him walking over to the door, "Of course! Why wouldn't they want to see you? So, you gonna come down to film?" Devan looked from his art and then to his brother. He set down the brush into a cup of mucky paint water next to him and went to rummage in his dresser, "Give me 5 minutes!" Collins laughed and headed out the door as his brother went to change out of his pajamas.

Devan headed down the hallway into Collins's bedroom where the older key had set up the camera in front if his desk with various pictures hanging up that his fans had sent him, two chairs in the shot. The magician looked up from centering the camera to his younger brother and smiled, "Okay awesome you're ready!" Devan have a nod and looked at the setting, "Soo, what do I have to do?"
Collins began to explain, "Okay, so for today's video I'm going to be doing the sibling tag and I was thinking to introduce you, I would make you appear by snapping my fingers and I'd edit it later to make it look realistic. Sound cool?" Devan nodded as he processed it in, "Totally cool, but unlikely it'd look reastic. What else are we doing?" The other responded using hand gestures, "So I asked everyone last week and give us questions that they wanted us to answer, and we'd read them and respond. This is all just gonna be fun so just be loosy goosy with it." That's when Devan couldn't contain his laugh, "What the heck, bro? Loosy goosy?!" Collins started to laugh to along with his brother. Maybe Devan was starting to feel better.
By the time they stopped laughing, Collins's face turned red with tears across his cheeks,
"Oh man, now I need a tissue." Devan handed him one trying to calm down as Collins wiped his eyes. The younger one said, "Can we get rolling?" The other yelled pumped up, "Yes! Let's do this!" Collins went over to his wheely chair and sat in it getting into position. Before he started, he asked, "Did my face go back to it's normal color?" Devan answered, "Yep, as pale as a vampire." They took in one last laugh and Devan hit the record button;
"What's up everyone, it's Collins Key and welcome to the Thursday vlog. Last week I asked you guys to comment down below what kind of video you wanted to see me do. And I got a ridiculous amount of comments asking if I can do the sibling tag," Devan smiled a little hearing a lot if people were requesting to see him.. Collins continued his speech, "So without further ado, this is the sibling tag!" He pointed over to his right and began to motion around, "There's going to be something around here." Devan said playfully behind the camera, "Something? Someone!" Collins continued, "The man, the myth, the legend, the expert selfie taker: Devan Key!"
Just as Collins was about to snap his fingers, he looks up at Devan, indicating to come around the camera to sit beside him. Obeyingly, he came over and sat down feeling himself to get a little excited. As he was fully sitting Collins finished snapping his fingers, his brother yelled out as if he made him appear in the seat, "Oh! There he is!" Devan laughed a little jokingly, "Wow, crazy intro man." Collins started to talk to the camera as Devan slowly reached his arm over to his brother's chair and pulled the lever. The older one started to sink down and he started to laugh, "Hey no, no, no! I'm not going to be short. HEYY!" They both laughed as Collins said, "Whoa this is not cool!" Devan laughed putting his hands to his hips, "Yeah!" The other laughed, "Okay no, I'm not doing the video like this!"
When Collins fixed his chair, the brothers commenced the video that was filled with various hilarious moments, old time stories, and poorly sung song lyrics. They had such a great time and Devan had forgotten everything about school as he let himself be excited to be apart of the hilarious video.

Devan sat at the table eating a grill cheese sandwich hangrily. Why did he choose to not eat breakfast?! He was starving! He smashed his teeth into the crisp bread and stringy cheddar cheese feeling as if he just had a taste of Heaven. He is never going to skip breakfast again!
As he sat at the table, he heard his brother stomp down the stairs in a hurry, coming his direction. Collins yelled, "Bro! Bro!" Devan looked up to see him flying over with his laptop in his arms looking super excited. The older one pounced next to his brother, "Bro, look! I just uploaded only three hours ago and check out the likes!" Devan glanced at the screen and he lost his breath, "4k likes?!?!" Collins bobbed his head crazily, "I know this is the most I've had in this little amount of time! And look at the comments!" The younger brother listened and scanned the messages in astonishment;
'You guys are like best friends and its like you guys never fight'
'The ninja story killed me #kepersquad'
'Tbh Devan is super funny! Why hasn't he been on the channel before?'
'I feel like if you mixed Zac Efron and Niall Horan you'd get Devan'
'You both are so cute! Those eyes and that hair!'
'Who thinks Devan should have a Youtube Channel?'
~560 likes
Devan's heart began to swell with joy! Did they really think this about him? Collins saw the younger one smile with pure happiness, "See Devan? People really do care about you! These people think you are so special and they'd take you in and love you no matter what! These people..the keypersquad, you know Devan are family to me. And they will be family to you." The younger one felt a tear fall down his cheek, but it wasn't a sad one. Devan wiped it off and said with a laugh, "I guess I know why you always gets so hyped for your videos." The two laughed and gave each other a bro hug.
{Time Skip}
The next day, Devan walked down the sidewalk to the school with his head held high. He wasn't going to be afraid anymore. He knew he had what it takes. He knew he was good enough. He knew he was something to someone. He knew he was special. The boy walked towards the glass door of the school, taking a deep breath and walking inside.
As he did so, he noticed the groups of people turning their heads at him, staring at him. Had they heard about Jesse harassing him the other day? It's okay Devan, he told himself, whatever happens, the keypers have your back.
Devan just smiled a little and he saw people whispering;
"Oh my gosh, it's him!"
"Isn't he brothers with Collins Key?"
"Wasn't he in that Collins Key video yesterday?"
"Has he always came to his school?"
"I never told anyone, but me and Devan are like...best friends."
"He's so hot!"
Devan was just keeping his cool, still unsure why everyone was staring at him. Suddenly, a girl came up to him, "Are you Devan Key?" He stuttered at the sudden question, "Uh....yes?" She held out a piece of paper and a pencil, "Can I get your autograph?" He raised an eyebrow but smiled, "..Sure." The girl squealed as some other girls came over to get a signature. Was this really happening to him?
He began signing papers, notebooks, and even a wrist. After finishing someone called to him, "Hey twigs." The back of his spine chilled when he heard the familiar voice. Devan turned around to see Jesse and two of his friends behind him. Before he could decide to run, the bully spoke, "Truce?" What did he just hear? Devan looked to see Jesse holding out his hand to him. Would he forgive him? He seems so credible..
Devan shook his hand with a slight smile. Jesse just nodded at him and walked away, to never bother him again. "Hey Devan!" It was Chloe. He felt himself have an aching feeling in his stomach. She skipped to him looking as if all the things she taunted him with the other day wasn't said, "I watched your video yesterday with Collins Key. I didn't know he was your brother!" She twiddled with his jacket strap, "I feel bad for what I said earlier. Would you want to skip class and meet me in the janitor's closet to 'talk'?" The witch winked at him with a devious smirk. How did he ever like her? She was so fake, had she any integrity?
Devan pulled her hand away, "I forgive you, Chloe, but I think it's best if we both stayed in class...and remained as just acquaintances," he started walking away, "Have a good day." After that, Devan never heard from her again.
He sighed feeling his body relax as he left the crowd. He felt so free from the previous day's heartaches! When he was turning the corner to go to his locker, Devan bumped into someone. He heard a small yelp that sounded like a girl. Devan winced as he apologized, "I'm so sorry-" he fully opened his eyes and stopped. It was Emily. She looked at him with a soft smile, "Hi Devan." He slowly gave her a kind smile and a little wave, "Hi.." The girl pushed up her glasses not breaking eye contact, "Are you okay? I guess it really isn't my business but..when you were running from the school, I just..wanted to make sure you were alright." Wow, this was the first person he came in contact with today that wasn't going gaga over him or talking about the video. He reassured her, "Oh, yeah..I'm doing a lot better now, thanks."
Emily just removed her brunette hair from her face, "That's good." Devan looked and noticed her eyes. He had always thought she had plain brown eyes, but there was a tint of light green that spread across the dark color. How did he never notice? It was..quite pretty.
The girl looked confused, "What? Is something wrong?" Devan caught himself staring and shook his head, "Oh, no no! Everything is just fine." Suddenly the school bell rang telling the kids to head to their first classes. Devan smiled at her sheepishly, "I guess we have to go to class.."
"Yeah, I'll see you later then," Emily pulled out something out of her pocket, "Here, I wanted to give this to you." A faint blush began to fill her face as she placed it in his hand, "Bye, Devan." With that, she disappeared into the crowd of students. Devan looked down at a piece of folded paper in his palm. Curiously, he started to unfold it to reveal what she wrote inside; "Better things are coming ❤️" The young boy felt his heart skip a beat as he read her note. No one has done that for him before... Devan knew he had to keep her around. After that, Emily has been a big part of his life.
