Alex
"Alexander, sleep, honey. It's 2am."
Alex sat with his shoulders hunched over and his eyes blaring at his laptop screen, typing madly. His freckled roommate was leaning on the edge of the wall and wrapped in a blanket while rubbing his eyes dozily.
"Just a minute, Johnny. I'll be there soon." The human nocturnal replied, barely taking his eyes off of the bright screen. His heart ponded with tension and his head tightened with every second that went by. Just go away, John. Please.
John sighed, walking over to Alex and placing his chin on the top of the boy's head and rubbing his shoulders lightly. "Please, Lex. You said that an hour ago, sleep."
Alexander felt his shoulders relax and loose tension, and although he wanted to accept John's offer, he knew that he had a good reason to turn it down. Alex placed his hands over John's. "I know, Peaches. I'll be there soon." He grinned, knowing that his lover would always soften up to being called "Peaches".
The freckled boy sighed again, then let his arms drift to Alexander's neck and they hung loosely. "Alright, Alexander. But please, your sleep is important. You can't keep pulling all-nighters like this. Promise me you'll come to bed soon, okay?" Alex only hummed in response and John sighed, placing a kiss on the boy's head then shuffled back into Alexander's bed- which they now both slept in.
Once hearing the door eased closed, Alex discharged his breath in relief, clicking through his tabs and pulling up a conversation with the whole group excluding John.
Alexander was told that John's birthday was to happen the day after, and he was also told that every year John would not make at all any fuss about it, and didn't bother reminding the group. They take blame for the matter however, explaining that they should just know when his birthday comes. But no matter how much they prepared, every time it just slipped past their minds and the forget (which was strangely funny to Alexander). So this year they had decided to surprise John with a small party, just with the group. In order to plan, they had to stay up to ridiculous hours debating on where the get together should be hosted and who brings what.
Alex: Okay, he's gone
Angelica: thank god.
Herc: that was a close one
Peggy: so back on topic! what else do we need?
Herc: streamers
Burr: Green streamers.
Peggy: but where do we hang them ??
Angelica: on the trees you dingus.
Peggy: but what if there arent any trees where we're hosting the party?!
Laf: whell were are we hosting the party ?!
Eliza: guys, shut the fuck up for a second!
Alex: Yeah, stop arguing!
Peggy: we aren't fucking arguing!
Angelica: Peggy I swear to god no cursing.
Eliza: Peggy!!!
Peggy: >:0
Eliza: guys! If John likes nature and turtles maybe we should do it at the park around the corner from Starbucks.
Herc: why does Starbucks always have to be in the conversation
Alex: That's such a great idea! We have to make sure not to drop any rubbish or streamers that will pollute the environment. You know how John is like sustainably wise.
Laf: good idea alex ,
Peggy: i think my burrito has a hole in it, i can feel sauce dripping down my leg |:/
Angelica: why would you say something like that Peggy.
Theo: what?
Herc: i think it's a great idea
Laf: why u think its bad Angie
Angelica: I'm talking to Peggy.
Alex: guys, John is getting suspicious of me. I think i need to go.
Angie: well the whole reason you're using a computer is so that he can hear you typing so that he just assumes that you're working on an essay, so that he doesn't get suspicious.
Alex: yeah, but he keeps calling out for me to go to sleep.
Eliza: i think you should go then.
Laf: yeah
Herc: make sure to close the chat after you
Peggy: baiiii
Alex: goodnight, enjoy your burrito Peggy.
Alexander finally closed off his computer screen and swivelled on his chair from the computer, massaging his stubbled face. He stayed sitting quietly for a minute or so before remembering that his beloved John was waiting for him in their bed. Someone provide a Lenny face, PLEASE。
Alex gently tapped on the door before creeping in, shuffling his eyes over to the figure of John. Alex smiled adoringly. He was extremely lucky to been given the opportunity to openly love his precious John like no one else could. He leaned down, pressing a kiss to John's temple. The freckled boy squinted slightly, then opened his eyes fully and yawned. "Lexi."
Alex chuckled, crashing down gently on the bed beside John. "Hi Peaches."
John giggled, flipping onto his other side so he could face Alexander. "Why do you always call me that?"
"Because, peaches are beautiful and sweet, and delicious." Alex winked, causing John to laugh out loud breathlessly.
"Oh my god, did you just call me delicious?" John snickered, flinging his face in his pillow.
"Yes I did, my dear." Alexander mimicked, threading out another embarrassed laugh from John.
"You are so weird!" John squealed and shuffled a little closer to Alexander and rested his head on Alex's chest. Alex sighed lightly and wrapped his arms around John's waist and stroked his hair lovingly, rocking back and forth while gazing deeply at John's ever so millions of freckles.
He had never felt like this with anyone, not even Eliza. When him and Eliza kissed, it felt unnatural and forced, unlike with Alexander and John, to him it felt like trillions of scarlet and Amber coloured fireworks had erupted through his chest like a gurgling volcano. It was spiritualistic.
"I can't believe that its been only weeks ago when you confessed to me. It felt like ages ago." John suddenly whispered wonderingly. Alex's heart bubbled adoringly and pressed his forehead against the top of John's head.
"Yeah, you're right. But I'm so glad I did it. I couldn't think of any better decision that I have made in my life." Alex nodded, earning a small giggle from John.
"Aww, Lex, that's too sweet." John cooed, turning a petite shade of rose causing Alex to mentally swoon.
"Not as sweet as you, Peaches." Alex reminded on an additional note, and John burst into a twitter of even more giggles. God, his laugh was so addicting to Alexander, he would do anything to keep that laugh lasting forever and ever.
"Oh my goodness, Alex. Now I'm awake. You woke me up!" John rose from Alexander and playfully ducked a pillow over the top of the taller boy's head.
"Ack- I'm sorry! But you know what we can do now?" Alex smugly suggested. John blinked, then held his hand on one hip with an unimpressed expression and swung the pillow like a weapon in his other.
"What, Alex."
"Have late night ice cream and coco on the couch!" Alex laughed, as if it was the most obvious answer possible. John sighed at Alexander's idiotic ideas.
"How can you hold such childlike antics at... nearly 3 in the morning?!" John shrieked, starting to stand but then flopped back down among checking the time. "Alex, no! We have classes tomorrow!"
"Well, yeah, we have classes tomorrow, but then after that we have the weekend." Alexander prompted, grabbing John's hands and swinging them back and forth. "And besides, the teachers are never strict on a Friday. Please, Peaches?" Alex pleaded, pulling his partner's hands and arms closer to his chest so that John's whole body followed along with them.
John smirked lightly, rolling his eyes. "Okie, fine. But don't expect me to wake you up in the morning for your class."
"John, we both have law together, you wouldn't want me late, would you?" Alexander pushed the boundary even more by pressing small kisses all over John's dotted face.
"I- ah, haha! Okay! I'll wake you up! Jeez, you're such a stuck up. Come on, lets go." John finally withdrew from Alex but lead the two boys out of their bedroom by holding hands.
"Yay! You're the best." Alex plucked another kiss on John's forehead.
"T-thankyou." John smiled once more, falling bashfully into silence.
"I love you so much, Peaches."
John left a rather surprised look on his face before beaming up at Alexander contently. "I love you too, Lexi. So much."
Such beautiful words that Alexander had adored most- and such beautiful words was truly his most favoured that had ever fallen out of his John Lauren's peach tinted lips.
John
John Laurens awoke shudderingly on the following Saturday morning to an empty bed, an unusual statement it was. "Lexi?" John croaked out, wondering if Alexander was working on homework in the study. Among the silence of a Saturday, he did not get an answer. ,,,,He sat up, shuffling into the kitchen.
"Lexi!" John called again, a little louder. No response. "Hm. He must not be here." Mumbling to himself, looking on the kitchen bench for a note.
Hi Peaches
Out for coffee with the others.
Can I meet you out at the park at 11?
Love you
Alex
John smiled weakly and folded the note away in his pocket. He sighed. Alexander didn't remember his birthday, and it seemed to be that he did not even know that it was his birthday; not that it mattered much to him anyway, he tried to hide the fact that it was anyway.
His father used to host wealthy and rambunctious parties to celebrate, where the parties were really more focused on the success and wealth of his father's career than himself. That did not hide the fact that most would make an outrageous commotion about his birthdays, commotion that he would rather not have around.
After lounging around for awhile, John decided to head out to the park in order to meet Alexander.
The wind brushed though his hair as John ambled through the autumn leaves and smiled when spotting alexander shifting his covered legs through a pile of flame red leaves. He let his feet fasten his pace as he moved faster towards Alex.
"Lexi!" John called out, reaching Alex and tackling him from behind in a warm bear hug. Alex jumped, but let out a stiff laugh.
"John! You scared me." Alex grinned, turning around and applying a quick peck on John's cheek. "I missed you!"
John rolled his eyes and bumped his shoulders against Alexander. "It's only been... what, less than 6 hours or something?"
"There's a lot more complication to it, Peaches, but I'll give you an exception." Alex intertwined his fingers with John's as he spoke indefinitely.
John scoffed, then looked around. "You dork. Why did you want me to meet you here anyway?"
Alex shrugged. "I just wanted to see you."
"Ugh, seriously? You brought me out here just to see me? You could of come back to the dorm, I had stuff on my to do list to do!" John groaned, rather more playfully than he originally wanted it to be.
"John Laurens, you and I both know that there has been nothing on that to do list since you first put it there." Alex reminded him and laughed. John huffed.
"Yeah, yeah, okie. So, what are we actually going to be doing out here?" John raised his eyebrow and smirked.
"Ah, I just wanted to go for a stroll with my lovely boyfriend. Is that so hard to ask?" Alex asked in a matter of fact tone. Inside John's heart was sizzling with tenderness. Alexander was just too sweet to him.
"Okie doki doki. Lead the way."
"That sounded so cliche." Alex replied bluntly. John felt a 'psh' effect slip out of his lips and started giggling.
"Hey, you know what would be even more cliche?" John didn't give Alex a chance to respond before leaping onto his back suddenly and grasping onto his shoulders. "Lead the way, my beloved boyfriend! Carry me to our destination with your muscular power!"
Alex burst out laughing and nearly crumbled to the ground (partially because of the sudden weight, in John's perspective). "God, that's even worse!"
Although alexander was surprisingly light, John found that he seemed to be lighter, the way that alexander briskly carried John on his back through all the thickly branched trees seemed to give him such idea. The small stroll was eventful and exhilarating- mainly because Alexander hadn't come to the point that it was his birthday. Through the peaceful travel, all that the pair did was muck around and playfully insult each other, every time John called Alex something stupid Alex tipped him over and warned that he would let go, causing John to squeal and cling onto Alexander's neck even tighter.
Once, Alex tilted so far back that John slid off, and in shock Alex twisted his back even further and lost balance as well, tumbling over John and landing on John's legs.
"Alex, your butt is crushing my legs!" John giggled, throwing his head back in giggles.
After a small period of struggles and more laughter, John and Alexander were finally up, making their way down the track. There was a small place during the track where the path was guarded by willow trees that shielded the path from view. One would have to pass through the willow trees branches to get to the path again, where, there was a nice patch of shaded grass and a bunch of picnic tables placed. John had only rarely been to this spot before, but didn't realise how beautiful it was.
As they were coming to this stop, Alex came to a halt and slung John down from his back, taking his hand instead. John just assumed this was for safety reasons until Alexander screamed 'Nous sommes là!' out to what looked like was directed to the willow trees (John wondered if Alexander even knew he could understand French and what he just screamed out to the world) and John just stood in confusion until Alex finally took him through to the picnic area.
Surprisingly, all of his friends were hovering over one of the picnic tables, waving at the two and beckoning for them to come over. Oh dear. John felt a sudden jolt as he had a sudden idea of what exactly all this was for.
Once they had reached a sensible distance towards the table, Peggy was the first girl to run up to John and throw his arms around him, swinging her kegs off the ground. "Happy birthday, Johnny! We finally got you on your birthday, after all of these years!" The young Schuyler sister squealed.
Keep in mind, the first girl.
One after the other, each girl enveloped John with every kind of hug: Eliza engrossed him into a motherly hug, Angie gave him a rough squeeze and ruffled the top of his head. Theo nearly knocked him over, and Maria wasn't really into hugs, so sort of picked him up off the ground and twirled him around a bit. Even all the boys tackled him in a group hug while John was squashed in the middle, confused and petrified. "Eh? How did you know?!"
Maria smirked and held her hand to her chin to impersonate a detective. "Hehe... We have our ways."
Peggy giggled childishly. "Come on, Johnny! We've been trying to celebrate your birthday for yonks and we've always failed! Look, we made up a picnic table and everything!"
John peered over at the picnic table Peggy was now pointing at, and let out a small gasp. The table was decorated with green streamers that also strung over a nearby tree, a small seaweed coloured table that spread across the table, and an pile of assortments like food and presents were set on top. John swelled up. Not only did it feel touching that his friends would even think of doing such things, the setting was very homely and casual, not a huge night party filled with people that were most likely his father's colleges that he didn't know. "I...wow...t-thank you, thank you!" John cried, grabbing Peggy and giving her an almighty squeeze.
"Hey, it wasn't just me! It was mostly Alex and Eliza, to be honest."
John looked over at the two, who were side by side and were probably in the middle of some form of mischief before being addressed. Since the two got together Alex and Eliza had become extremely mischievous together, possibly worse than Peggy or Maria whenever those two were together. It was like a bomb was to explode any time soon and everyone was on the edge of their seats. Alex and Eliza could not be trusted out of sight together anymore, they had already exploded a fire hydrant once when they got separated from the group once.
"Well, it wasn't really, it was everyone." Eliza added, Alex nodding alongside her. She stepped forward, taking his hands and leading him along to the picnic table. "Now, come on! We want to show you a present! It's from all of us."
John attempted to stay rooted to the spot but got dragged along with Eliza when Alex took his other hand. "Oh, no no no... I don't need a present, I don't want anything!" He laughed nervously, declining their offer.
"Yeah, well no matter what you're taking this present, we aren't planning to take it back anytime soon." Hercules backfired, who was leaning on the streamer decorated tree.
John gulped. "Really, I don't want anything, I-I'm good! You didn't need to go through any trouble!"
"Yeah, well no matter what we aren't returning this gift. He was really expensive, you know." Theo argued back. They had reached the table and drawing open a rather large green box with holes. The box was carefully placed into his hands.
He hesitantly unraveled the paper, and opened the lid to be met with...
"Oh my god, you didn't!"
Completion-4/3/18
Okay, you may think what you think it is is right, but NOOOOO. NO.
I'm talking about the present. No. It is not a turtle.
Because turtles can't walk on land. Literally in any lams book, John gets gifted a turtle. And... unless I'm mistaken, I don't think turtles can walk on land? Pffft, i don't know.
