Chapter 14- Eliza Interlude

The title could be worse.
Edit- Yep. The title just got worse.
And even worse.
Note this.
John calls Angelica "Ang" because everyone is quite close to the Schuylers.
Alexander calls Angelica her name most of the time (instead of a nickname) because he is not too close with her yet.
And Eliza calls the girls "Pegs" and "Ang" because they are extremely close. Even in the narration, as you'll see, Angelica is described as "Ang", unlike the pov's beforehand.

Eliza
After waltzing into the Schuyler dorm, Elizabeth set her baby blue bag down on the sleek marble counter. She felt her positive mindset still lingering through her head as she called out her other sisters. "Ang, Pegs! I'm back from my day!"

Angie and Pegs sauntered into the kitchen, both seeming to be finishing a quiet conversation. They both smiled up at the fair skinned sister. "Hey, Betsy. You want a tea?" Angie asked as she grabbed a teabag from the cupboard as if Eliza had already answered.

"Yes, please, Ang." Eliza smiled, grabbing her phone out of her bag and checking the time.

Angie nodded and looked at Peggy. "Coffee or tea, Pegs?"

Peggy shrugged. "I like both." Peggy is Pansexual. Figure that linking out.

"Hot chocolate?" Angie raised an eyebrow.

The shortest sister squealed. "Hell yes!"

Angelica smiled and shook her head and got out the golden coloured tin of drinking chocolate. "So, How was  your day with Johnny?"

Eliza grinned, remembering the calming day that the two casually shared. "It was awesome! We went to the animal shelter up the road and squeezed all the guinea pigs! We had to stop by the childcare and grab something I forgot yesterday. But we did see Susan!"

Peggy's eyes seemed to light up at the mention of Susan, and Eliza shared a amused look with Angelica, shaking her head. The golden honey skinned teen frowned as she caught onto Eliza's now muffled expression. "What? I love Susan! She's adorable."

"Only because she looks like her mother." Angelica snickered under her breath, loud enough for Elizabeth to hear and burst into snorts.

Peggy seemed to hear as well, and flinched, covering her salmon tinted face with her curly hair in embarrassment. "H-hey, that's not funny!"

"Of course it is, Peggles!" Eliza gasped between giggles. Peggy just huffed and crossed her arms stubbornly.

After a light conversation between the sisters, Eliza felt her phone vibrate against her skin: a notification from Alex.

Alexander: Hey. Can I meet you in your dorm in 20 minutes?

Eliza felt her chest tingle with unnecessary uncertainty. Her boyfriend had been acting unusual around her, as if he was hesitant to get close to her. This had made Eliza wonder if he actually shared the same feeling that she did him.

If her guessing was correct, and he did share the same feelings, he would be certain to break up with her.

So to speak, and to be honest, Eliza was pretty prepared for it. She had noticed Alexander's behaviour around her, so she had a sense of knowing. A sense of knowing that he would break up with her.

And when preparing herself for the moment, Eliza had realised that her feelings for alexander sort of... died down. They were still there of course, lingering around. But they sort of collapsed slightly when she trained herself for the "breakup". She had always been paranoid for the day to come. So, if Alexander happened to keep their relationship and not break up with her, Eliza would start to consider doing it for him.

Eliza: Sure honey 💙

Elizabeth looked up to the dark skinned teen that was in the middle of accumulating Peggy's hot chocolate. "Hey, Al is coming over in 20 minutes. Is that okay?"

Angie flinched in visual surprise, then shared a glance with Peggy, who was chewing on a straw. She looked up at Angelica and gave her an anxious glare. Angie turned to Eliza with a smile as if she had never looked at Peggy. "Yeah, sure. But Pegs and I were going to go on a walk to the bakery downstairs. We were going to ask if you wanted to come with us."

"Seeing how you would rather be with Alexander, we can meet you there once you two are done." Peggy teased. Angelica nodded with a pained expression, placing the hot chocolate in the microwave.

Eliza raised an eyebrow, examining Angie's sad face and noticing a faked hint in Peggy's voice- although it was very hard to notice. "What's up? Why are you guys looking like that?" The two guilty sisters winced.

Angie's face became expressionless and blunt. "Whatever do you mean." She spoke in a monotone voice, causing Eliza to giggle and shrug off her two sisters unusual behaviour.

Angelica soon passed the newly made earl grey tea over the marble table as she herself sipped on her black coffee.

The two sisters soon made their any to the bakery, filling their colour coded thermoses to the brim with the hot beverages. They left in a sudden rush, to Eliza's confusion and dismay.

After finishing her tea quietly, she heard a knock on the door. Her heart lunged in panic and whipped her black raven hair around to the door. Eliza heard a smooth voice from outside. "Betsy!" It's just Alex.

Eliza sighed, reaching off her seat to open the door. She greeted the boy with a warm smile. "Hey sweetie! Come in." She opened the door wider and he stepped inside with a nervous glance. Eliza's smile faded in concern as he made his way into the living room, sitting down.

Eliza followed after him quietly, her brows furrowing with curiosity. She held her hands on her hips as Alex kept his head down. "Alex, what's up?"

Alex lifted up his head and stared at her with his chocolate layered eyes, the ones that she was once enchanted by. "Eliza... we need to talk."

Elizabeth felt her heart crack slightly. She knew what was coming, she was sure of it. Oh god. It's happening now?! Okay, compose yourself, Elizabeth Schuyler. It's going to be fine.

She replaced her shocked expression with a smile, then sat by him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Sure. What is it, Alexander?"

Alex sighed, carefully placing Eliza's hand into her lap and standing up in Eliza's previous position. He stood quietly for a while, opening his mouth a few times in an attempt to find the correct words. Eliza closed her eyes painfully and tilted her head to her left.

Finally, Alexander spoke. "Eliza... you know how I'm Bi, right?"

Eliza opened eyes, surprised at Alexander's choice of words. "Yeah...?"

"Well... I think I..." Alex fumbled with the hem of his peach hoodie nervously.

Eliza couldn't take it anymore. She knew exactly what he was trying to say. "I know what you're trying to say, Alexander. Just say it." She snapped, almost like a growl.

Alex flinched, then shook his head before grunting. "I... ugh, fine! I think I'm in love with someone else."

The words hit harder that Eliza thought, and she started to tear up. She knew now that no matter how much she would have prepared for those words, it wouldn't help her to remain strong. She bit her lip. "Who is it?"

"I... promise not to kill me?" Alex pleaded. Eliza snapped her head up, curious to hear who had stolen his heart.

"I promise." Eliza finally answered.

Alexander sighed, gazing towards the kitchen with his eyes in another world. "...John."

Eliza gasped, shaking. She looked up from her lap and started beaming, unsurely doubting why she was. "Really? John?"

Alex glared at her, hands up. "You promised not to kill me!"

Eliza choked back a laugh. "N-no, I'm not mad." She took a deep breath in. "So... you're breaking up with me?"

Alex closed his eyes and held the bridge of his nose, nodding. "Yeah, I'm afraid so."

"I'm..." Eliza took a moment to self evaluate her feelings- she was tearing up, but she felt relieved. Like a weight was finally lifted off her shoulders. She was... happy? Happy for John? Yeah... I'm happy!

"I'm okay. I'm fine!" She smiled up at Alex, a genuine smile; Alex seemed to notice so, and he exhaled with relief. Even if the words were sharp to her, she knew she could get over them soon. "I mean, I was going to break up with you soon, anyway!" She accidentally blurted out, causing Alex to stare. "Oops- that sounded really shitty."

They shared a moment of silence before bursted into laughter. "Yeah, that was really stupid, to be honest." Alex chuckled, seemingly happy that Eliza was taking the news well. "But seriously, you were going to break up with me? You don't like me anymore? Wow, that sounded shitty, too. Geez, we are really shitty people."

Eliza snorted at Alexander, then shrugged. "Well, I guess my feelings just... died down a bit. I mean, I think I still like you, but I'm sure I'll get over it."

Alex nodded, sitting back down next to Elizabeth. "So... there's something I need your help with, too. It's about John."

Eliza gasped, wiggling her eyebrows. If it was anything she was tremendously talented in, it was giving romantic advice. "Oooooh, Johnny! I can totally see you two together~!"

Alex blushed a deep crimson and twirled a strand of his dark hair.
Eliza giggled at her ex boyfriend. "So, what do you need me to do?"

"I need to figure out a way to tell him that I love him. But I don't know how. Do you have any ideas?"

The raven haired girl twiddled her hair between her fingers thoughtfully. "Hmm. John is a very romantic type, he loves flowers, chocolates, cheesy shit like that."

"A romantic text?" All of you shut up. This is how i confessed to my crush XD

"Alex, that's taking the lazy way out of it. Hell no."

Alex groaned, and Eliza giggled and shook her head. "Do you and John even text? I've hardly seen you two text each other."

Alex shook his head. "I have his number, but I hardly use it. Except for calling. It's just like that, I don't know why. We write notes to each other."

Eliza nodded in understanding, trying to form a plan. "Hm. Elaborate."

After a brief explanation from Alexander, Eliza finally understood the vibe and ideas started flowing in.

At this point, Eliza and Alex were lying on their stomachs on the designer rug like children filling out colouring books. They had drawn up a list of ideas, and Eliza kept crossing things out in frustration.

"Okay, how about a note from you? On the kitchen bench?" Eliza suggested.

"No, thats too simple." Alex hummed.

"A letter?"

"... 'Liza, you know that I would go on for at least 100 pages." The boy deadpanned.

"A... scavenger hunt."

"What even is that." Alex groaned. Eliza threw her head back in laughter at Alex's stubborn attitude.

"Okay, okay. Let me see." Eliza draped her finger through the crossed or scribbled out ideas, trying to find something.

Suddenly it all clicked in her brain.

She had the best idea ever.

She turned her head over to Alex, grinning childishly and her eyes blasting brightly like fireworks. "Alex, I've got the best idea."

Short chapter to keep y'all hungry for now.
