Chapter Thirty-Four

"Behave yourself," I told Rayne as he leaned over the car's window to kiss me on the lips. He pulled back with a confused look on his face.

"What do you mean behave myself?"

I shrugged slightly, gripping the driving wheel. "Just behave and have fun. Call me when you're done with the photo shoot."

               "Okay..." he said loosely.

"Now give me a better kiss before I go," I demanded.

He scrunched his face. "Kiss my ass," he snapped and walked away.

"Baby, I will," I whispered to myself. I studied the way he walked, how his arms gently swung back and forth. His hair - which was growing longer - flowed gently with the breeze. I was seeing perfection before my eyes.

I shook my head, smiling at myself, and exited the parking lot where I dropped him off. I didn't want to go with him because photo shoots weren't my thing. I didn't have the patience. Besides, it was his job not mine. There was no need for me to follow him all day long.

We had only arrived a few hours ago from spending the weekend at my mom's house. I didn't think it was such a disaster, it was definitely a success. I came out to my mom and she accepted me with open arms.

What more could I ask for? Rayne and I were finally a real couple. Now that I didn't have to hide it from my mom ... now I wasn't afraid anymore. I had nothing to lose. So now we were real. And I was happy.

Suddenly, I felt a vibration in my pants, and not the good kind. I reached inside for my phone and stared briefly at the bright screen. It was a text message from Priscella. She wanted me to pick her up from her job.

Lucky for her I was in a good mood and I was free for the rest of the day. I made a U-turn and drove straight to her job. Which was at pizza hut.

A few minutes later and I was at the red stop, waiting for it to turn green. I could see Priscella waiting at the entrance of the restaurant. I honked multiple times and she looked up. She jumped up and down all excited and began dropping it like it was hot.

"Get it girl!" someone yelled in a passing car.

               I rolled my eyes.

The light turned green and I drove straight for her. I wish I could just sometimes drive the car straight into her but then I'd go to prison for murder of a hoe.

Priscella giggled her way into the passenger seat and quickly buckled her seat belt.

She turned to me and smiled. "I missed you guys. Where is Rayne?" She looked back, checking for Rayne.

"I just dropped him off at the studio."

"Here." She handed me the box of pizza that she held in her hands. "Thanks for picking me up."

"Thanks." I turned and placed the box in the back seat. "So where to?"

"Let's go visit Rayne!" Her eyes bulged with excitement.

"We shouldn't bother him. Let him work."

She raised a brow. "Did I just hear you say no?"

"Um. I didn't say the word no but no was what I meant."

"Turn the car around and drive straight for the studio if you know what's good for you," she threatened.

And my happy mood was gone in a blink of an eye. I drove us out of the Pizza Hut parking lot and headed towards the studio again. Priscella nagged me the entire fifteen minutes that it took to get to the studio again. Normally it would have taken more but I hit that pedal like Rayne's prostate.

I parked the car in the same place where I dropped Rayne and turned off the engine. I turned to Priscella. "Knock yourself out."

"Get out of the car, you're coming too."

Sighing, I unbuckled my seat belt and got out of the car.

"That's my boy," she smiled slyly.

I felt like I always got bossed around. Even with my jerk side, I was still a good guy. Though, Priscella ticked me sometimes. I wasn't hers to boss, that was Rayne's job.

"The entrance is this way, smartass." I pointed in the opposite direction of where Priscella was walking too.

She frowned at me. "How was I supposed to know?"

"It says Entrance on the door," I said in an obvious tone.

She raised her fist and stopped half way when one of the workers came out the door.

"I won't hit you because Rayne is my friend."

I blinked. "Wait you— huh? I've been your friend for years! You should quit the abuse period!"

She shook her head. "Oh, no. I already had mine last week, thanks though."

I grumbled a few words that shouldn't be said out loud.

We entered the building and looked up at the giant hovering lights above. And I saw none other than Cassy who just left the main office.

               "Cassy!" I called out.

Her head turned in our direction and the creepiest smile swept across her face.

               "What the f—"

               "Shh," I cut Priscella off.

"Hey, Jesse. What are you doing here?" Cassy asked, approaching us.

"Do you know where I can find Rayne?"

She nodded. "He's in stage ten. Just go down the hall and turn right."

               "Thank you."

Priscella and I walked down the long hall and turned right just as Cassy said. There were two stages, one was empty and the other one was a mess. Then I saw Rayne who stood next to a shirtless guy as the camera flashed away.

Priscella quickly ran behind the lady who was taking all the shots, the photographer, I assumed.

I walked closer to the stage and I couldn't believe my eyes. What ever they did to Rayne ... they did a good job. He didn't look like himself anymore. He was covered in so much make up and props that he just didn't look the same anymore. He was right too ... it was dark and creepy.

"Benjamin, turn around and lay your head on Aaron's shoulder." Rayne did what she said. "Perfect. Now touch his chest."

Priscella looked amused. Actually, she looked like a fan girl. Wide eyes and a little bit of drool on the corner of her lip.

I scanned Rayne's new features and my right eye twitched. He looked so different, I just couldn't believe my eyes.

He wore black leather pants with what looked like female boots. They had heels and spikes. I felt completely bad for him. But he looked like he was enjoying it, so why stop him?

"Guys. Please change your poses and stop staring at each other." The lady ordered.

"You told us to stare at each other!" Rayne retorted.

"And now I say change poses."

Rayne tripped while he tried to change his pose and Aaron caught him before he hit the ground. The pose they were in right now was a perfect shot, in my opinion.

"Don't move!" The photographer warned as she took the photos from different angles.

"Priscella? Is that you?" Rayne squinted his eyes and tried to block the bright lights.

               "What's up, sista?"

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"Just watching with Jesse. You're doing great, baby!" She applauded him.

"Jesse is here?" he looked surprised.

"He's behind me. We think you look really professional. And I want those shoes."

I didn't say he looked professional. I thought it, yes, but I never said it. Priscella is full of it.

The photographer ended up kicking us both because Priscella wouldn't shut up about the shoes so we had to wait in the resting room. The same place where Rayne had attacked Cassy.

"He looks happy." Priscella broke the silence.

"And you look stupid with your uniform."

"You're lucky there are no weapons near me."

"I'm guessing your fists aren't enough?"

The devious smile on her face disappeared. "What's wrong? You look really mad."

Just then Rayne stormed through the door with Aaron following. Rayne was laughing as he finished wiping off the make up from his face.

"You don't even wanna know what she does with the pictures she doesn't use," Aaron laughed.

Priscella casually threw her arm over my shoulder and placed her feet on the coffee table.

"What's so funny?" she asked them.

Rayne shook his head. "Nothing. Aaron is just making fun of the photographer. Do you guys wanna go get something to eat? I'm starving."

"Are you paying?" Priscella, obviously, raised an eyebrow.

               Rayne pointed at Aaron.

               "It's on me," Aaron answered.

               "Great! Let's go!"

We ended up going on my car since it was nicer and it was more comfortable for all four of us. Priscella threw the pizza box out of the window while we were driving and I had to stop the car in the middle of the road to retrieve it. I didn't want to get a ticket.

Priscella and Rayne were arguing about where to eat.

"We should go to Denny's! It's right there and it's good," Rayne suggested.

"Scott's Bar has better food and less old people running around," Priscella pointed out.

Abruptly, I turned the car around and made everyone slam against their right side.

"Shut up, both of you! We're going where I want now."

               "But—"

               "No but's. You're both grounded."

I took us to the place where Rayne and I had our first meal together. The restaurant next to the boats. It was my favorite and more peaceful than their suggestions. They didn't complain, they were content with my choice.

"Table for four, please," I told the waitress.

"Sure, follow me." She took four menus from the counter and we followed her.

Once we were all seated the waitress took our drink orders and left.

"They have shark here? Isn't that illegal?" Priscella asked.

"Isn't that nice. We eat the sharks and they eat us." Rayne grinned.

               "Nature, baby," she replied.

"I just noticed that I didn't introduce you guys to Aaron. Wow. I bet you all feel awkward." Rayne blushed.

               "Not really," Priscella muttered.

"Guys, this is Aaron, he worked with me in the photo shoot. Aaron, this is Priscella and Jesse."

"Nice to meet you guys." He nodded.

"So how messed up do you have to be to work for that lady?" Priscella asked with a chuckle.

"That's why Rayne and I were laughing. She put two horns on him and a tail after you left."

Priscella's jaw dropped. "That doesn't make any sense! What the hell was she going at with this photo shoot?"

"A black and white wonderland, she calls it."

               "Wow. Makes sense now."

I looked up at Aaron and studied his profile. His face was perfect, it made me paranoid. What if Rayne thought he was cute and wanted him instead of me? His jaw line was so smooth looking and flawless. His eyes were two shiny blue marbles. And his hair was too perfect.

I wasn't jealous, just paranoid. Rayne will surely be working with a lot more models and what if he really likes one of them? I already felt distant from him. He hasn't even looked at me in the eyes.

Was I right when I believed that after a person sleeps with me they just didn't care anymore? Could it be happening with Rayne?
