The Pursuit
I watch as thousand of people emerge from their homes. The young and the old fill the streets. When asked where they are going, they say: "I don't know, but I'll know when I get there." I see some sprint towards this goal, like if they don't hurry, it won't be there tomorrow. Others diligently march forward, their bodies too worn by old age or poor health to run. I chuckle as I see some people still in their work clothes, their journey too important to waste time on changing. Nothing stops these crusaders; not law enforcement, not ocean, and not walls of any kind. I convince myself I won't be infected by their drive, but it hits me so suddenly that I don't have time to deny it. This infectious need to walk pushes my feet forward; pushing me harder and harder until I am sprinting. I have joined the Pursuit.
