A Simple Man
A simple man sits in a corner. His friends fading from his sight, an unseen gap pushing them further apart until they are nothing more than a dot on the horizon. This simple man does nothing, but watch as the darkness takes place of his friends. The cold blackness drowns him in a sea of despair. A devouring loneliness that had hidden been away in his soul joins the darkness. Flashbacks of shameful deeds and sinful secrets flash before his eyes, making sure that this is his last memory before death. He silently proclaims a love that is not to be, but his confession falls on deaf ears. Though, those are not his last words. Ever so quietly he says:
"Bless my friends, let them feel happiness even if I never feel it myself."
Then the poor, foolish man dies.
