Karos' Birthday
Balloons decorate the walls of the castle, not a brick was bare. Streamers and ribbons hang loosely in the spaces between each balloon. Bright and beautiful colours and creatures of all different species fill the castle for my little Karos' birthday party.
I smile to myself as I watch him anxiously await on the lawn for his giant cake.
"Can you believe he's turning one thousand today?" I squeal to a servant girl next to me, "it feels like only yesterday that he was one hundred."
Trumpets bellow as the kitchen doors swing open, "the cake will arrive soon. I can't wait to see Karos' face when he sees it." I feel myself beginning to get anxious and I gracefully move to stand next to my not-so-little-anymore little boy.
I watch as Karos' eyes grow large and a toothy grin forms upon his face as the servants bring out his ten story tall birthday cake.
Chocolate cake with vanilla filling hides under the purple and pink icing and topped with rainbow sprinkles. That was his favourite. The unicorns made it special for him, they always make the best cakes.
Lined up in a spiral pattern, a thousand bright, spiral candles stand proudly lit upon his cake. I smile up at my little dragon and I give him a nod.
"Go on, you may blow out your candles now." I say with a proud smile, "don't forget to make a wish too."
His grin widens and he inhales deeply. He closes his eyes tight and I can see him concentrating hard on his wish. He then exhales his blow, except instead of air, flames spew from his mouth. His firery blast brushes past the lit candles, burning them quicker. It scorched the lands behind the cake, leaving only charred bits of foliage in its path.
"I keep forgetting that he can do that...." I scrunch up my lips and I tightly fold my arms behind my back.
"Welp," I utter, staring over the charcoal land in front of me. "That did not go as planned."
