Honour Bound - JWD
I picked up the blood stained crown and held it in my hands. As I looked down at my reflection on the redish-brown tinged golden crown, a single, salty tear escaped my left eye and rolled down the curvature of my cheek.
"I will make you proud." I mumbled lowly to myself, only wanting my father to hear my prayer to him.
As the last remaining ruler of the Valerya Kingdom, I will end this war and bring honour to my father.
I looked back to my dragon, Quintessa, with a determined look.
"Will you aid me in my quest?" I held my hand out to her.
She looked at me and blew a puff of smoke at me. I closed my eyes, but kept my position, as the smoke blew through me. Smoke covering me everywhere.
"I'll take that as a yes." I slowly opened my soot covered eyes, before a slight grin formed upon my face.
A cough then escaped my mouth and ruined the moment.

I ran through the smoke clouded woods, cinders crackled around me as the forest burned from the dragons' rage.
I looked up as Quintessa and her kin flew high above the skies, incinerating our enemies and plowing a path for me.
In the kingdom of Valerya, we lived alongside the dragons. We became a single race, so when the other kingdom attacked us, they attacked the dragons too. And our dragons don't like to feel attacked, they're super sensitive.
I raced past the charcoaled bodies of my enemies and into the burning castle of my rivals.
The flames licked at my feet as I walked towards the king's chambers. I pushed open the large heavy doors and grinned widely at the sight of the king cowering in the corner of his champers.
Quintessa hovered above his balcony, keeping watch on her prey. She knew I wanted to end him myself, so she made sure he wouldn't escape.
I drew my father's sword as I walked closer to the man who ordered his demise. His trembling face reflected into my sword, making this moment ever more sweeter than I could ever imagine.
"Have mercy on me." His whimpering cries didn't faze me as I stepped closer to him.
"I want you to apologize." I spoke in a clear and demanding voice.
"Apologize for what?" He looked at me, his soulless eyes twitching with confusion.
"Apologize for killing my father." My tone remained the same as I clenched my fist around the handle of the sword with anger.
"I'm sorry for killing your father." His tone indicated that he didn't really mean it.
"Say it like you mean it!" I snarled at him, he shot back and began to shiver with fear.
"I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me." He cried, tears streamed down his scaled face.
"That's not good enough." I mumbled as I pieced the sword through his chest, I watched as he turned to mush and slipped away.
"Begone, vile Cancer."
