Canada - ATE

Dear reader,

You might have had a lot of the worst day ever's but this is by far the WORST day EVER.

Today, the sun burned out. They said that it had years to live. They were wrong.

In place of the sun stands a new star. One they call the dark star. It has the same mass and gravitational pull as the sun. But no heat.

It's cold. Colder than it has been ever. Millions of organisms die off each day.

If you're reading this, it means you have found a way to survive. If only I could say the same for myself.

A male with brown hair folded up his letter after scribbling his signature at the bottom of the paper.

"Adam!" A female's voice called from across the tiny bunker. "Europe and Asia just dropped. It's only America and Canada left standing." The female's voice had a slight British accent.

The male stuffed the letter into his pocket before walking over to the female. The two would look out the window and observe the vast land of ice that used to be Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The CN Tower was completely frozen; it stood tall like a giant upside down icicle. The other buildings were either rubble or flattened. It was a shock that the Rogers Center and the Ripley's Aquarium were still standing. There were rumours that people had taken shelter in one of those buildings.

"Have you checked the thermometer recently?" Adam asked the female as he turned away from the window and plopped down onto their couch.

The female sighed and looked over at the thermometer on the side of the window. "It's still -58°C." The female turned away and leaned against the window. A chill going through her skull, forcing her to remove her head from the window before it freezes to it.

"I wanna go out, Eve." The male looked to the female. "I hate being stuck in here."

Eve sighed. "Alright, but we need to be back by Blackout."

After suiting up, the two stepped out into the frozen wasteland. They were the last two known people living in Ontario, Canada. The ground disintegrated with each step they took.

The once vibrate and live city of Toronto was now a desolate wasteland. The Air Canada Centre was no more than a pile of rubble and dust.

A light wind blew across the frozen desert as an alert popped up onto the male's suit.

"America is no more. Canada is the last one standing." Adam turned to Eve as a large storm manifested behind the two.

The light wind began to whip up as the storm drew near, the temperature dropping drastically.

"We should head back!" The female called through the icy wind. The male nodded and the two began to back to the bunker.

The storm was closing in.

Hearts pounded with every step taken.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

3... 2... 1...

Toronto was now in the eye of the storm.

...Boom...
