I ran down stairs. For my age, I was smart; well, smart in some areas. I knew that if I took my time everything would be worse, that's for damn sure.

I stood straight up. No slouching. That's what Anki taught me. She said it was good manners, and might help me get in less trouble if I look like I actually care. I thought it was a smart idea as a kid, but it couldn't have helped in this situation.

"Maemi! Please tell me why there is a broken plate on the ground when I just bought new ones! I know well enough that I didn't break it!"

I accidentally hit it earlier when I was dancing in the kitchen. (We all do it, don't lie to yourself.)

I just didn't care at the time, and so I left it. I was a kid for Jashin's sake!

What was I supposed to do? Pick it up? God forbid I do such a thing.

"Yeah yeah, I broke your stupid plate. I'm very sorry!" I had a snide look on my face.

The miss's fave went red. "Apologize sincerely! I am tired of your disrespect! You shou-"

"Calm down, honey." It was the sir. He never really did much for arguing, but did he just stop the miss? From yelling at me?

Tch. Yeah, that bastard did.

"She- he's a kid, for heaven's sake! Just give em awhile, you need to unwind. Go to the spa for awhile, let out that steam." This had never happened before.

"*sigh* you're right. I need to relax. I'll go take awhile off, and maybe by then someone can behave." She walked away pompously.

The sir turned to me. "Hm? Why'd ya do that?" Little me was suspicious, and for good reason. This dude was suddenly helping me, why? This wasn't a normal thing.

"Because you needed it! I could tell she was being to harsh on you." He gave me a smile, and I smiled back.

"Thank you!"

He gave me another big smile. "Just come to me when you need a- I mean, help."
