The Window (Sonakshisrivadtava)
Staring out the hazy window
I look at the empty streets,
Which now resemble my sorrows
Waiting for them to retreat .
As I watch a lone tear drop
I realised why time had stopped.
It's been a long time since
I've watched the sunrise spark
On the horizon light commenced
Banishing away the night's dark
Morning began to ripple slowly
Seeping into my lonely heart
Scents that once were deadened
Coupled with nature's fine art
Sweet sunsets now seem a thing of the past
For these narrow lanes call out to the dark
Sighing, I wonder if this melancholy will last
Will the hustle return, bringing back its spark
What once used to be a chirpy morning call,
Now resembles the dusky sombre fall.
But it can't be the end of the journey
It can't be the end of our time
As long as there are words in me
As long as I breathe out rhymes
The fall must step aside one day
And spring bloom shall replace the gray
For even sorrows don't live forever
And hope can grow from a minute sliver
A desire for hope rekindles my heart
Someday this will end, this too shall pass,
For now I'll watch the silver clouds part
Till they make way for some greener grass
We'll meet again for a lasting embrace
Our happiness will chase down the lingering greys.
We'll find again the will to live,
and memories are all that we will give.
