Chapter 4
Stella entered the stall and locked it before lowering her yellow mini skirt along with her black tights to sit on the toilet while Carina looked in the mirror to put on her lipstick. After putting on the lipstick she thought of a harmless prank, Carina pulled out a rouge lipstick and wrote something on the mirror before setting the lipstick laser to activate via voice command and changed the password to activate the laser and took out some chewed bubblegum that she found from under the sink and glued the bottom of the lipstick laser next to the stall where Stella was. Carrina bolted out of the women's restroom when Stella grabbed the toilet paper. After wiping off her biological waste, the used toilet paper was thrown into the trash bin full of used toilet paper and rolled up menstrual pads. Stella hiked up her yellow mini skirt and black tights before unlocking the stall to read what was written on the mirror with rouge lipstick. A star doodled above that quote. "You'll burn out like a star." Then she saw a red light coming out behind her from her reflection before she ducked as the light from the laser hit the doodled star and reflected to where her head would've been if she hadn't dodged in time. The laser burned a hole in the stall where Stella was. The Izarian looked at the damage, then the laser and when she found the lipstick laser glued next to the stall with chewed gum. She rolled the lipstick as the laser reduced in width until it got deactivated. As she held the miniature weapon she looked at the writing on the mirror, it had a similar signature to Carina's.
No... no! I won't obsess about Carina. Not today! She thought while she glared at the mirror before walking out of the women's restroom.
Yin arrived to the waiting room along with June, they were a couple of feet away from the arena. "Here we are." Yin said, June looked around the room before she spotted the arena. Hundreds if not thousands of people were on their seats, waiting for the tournament to commence.
"Thank you, sir." June thanked him.
"No problem, young lady. You can call me Yin." He gave a curt bow that is how the Japanese introduce each other.
"June." She introduced herself as she gave a curt bow. Faim scratched his head, trying to find someone to talk to. When the blonde fighter saw a blonde girl erect her back after exchanging introductions he spotted an elderly man with a samurai hat and a long white beard, he could tell from a distance that Yin was a dojo Master, a sensei, meaning that he could learn new fighting techniques.
Faim's brown eyes beamed with enthusiasm as he dashed to meet the Yamitzu master.
"Kon'nichiwa, watashinonamaeha faimudesu. Watashi mo raibaru no hitoridesu. Anata mo koko ni sanka shimasu ka?" (Hello, my name is Faim. I'm one of the competitors, are you here to compete as well?) Faim introduced himself and gave a bow to the yamitzu master. To this Yin smiled.
"Hajimemashite, faimu. Watashinonamaeha masutā indesu. Sōdesu, watashi mo tōnamento ni sanka shite imasu." (Nice to meet you, Faim. My name is Master Yin, and yes, I'm also competing in the tournament.)
While Yin and Faim were communicating in Japanese, June looked around and spotted a teenage boy about her age, next to him was a little girl with long shaggy brown hair. Assuming that the impoverished looking girl was his little sister. Seeing that little girl wrap her little arms around him, reminded June of her little sister. She wanted to comfort the little girl and brush her hair like she used to do with her little sister, but she kept her distance. This was why she signed up for the tournament, to win in order to get her sister back from the underground crime organization. That was the task they gave her.
Scale thought wisely about choosing who to talk to. He didn't feel comfrotable talking to the dominative raptors or Hwa Hae Ji, who seemed nervously suspicious. Almost as if she had alternative motives for being there.
So, when Scale's eyes locked on someone who had a similar fear and nervousness to their eyes. He just witnessed her say goodbye to her companion, leaving her standing alone in the centre of the Gladatorium.
Scale takes a deep breath in before approaching Annabell and introducing himself.
"H-hello, my name is Scale. This is my first time fighting in the tournament. How about you?" Scale started, Annabell turned around to see the reptilian have a nervous smile.
"Hi, my name is Annabell, it's also my first time fighting here." The human looked at Scale in the eyes, he also had yellow eyes, eyes of a serpent though he seemed docile.
Meanwhile, Blade and Melon continue to lovingly embrace. Blade notices the variety of species, with some a look of excitement for the glory of battle while some have a look of fear and anxiety, afraid for their friends and what the importance of this tournament means to them.
Grim was used to glares and usually he wouldn't mind, but the fact a distasteful furball of a beast would judge his actions.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a keychain where a cashmere, cat made piece of fur hung into his hand.
Grim waved it in front of Jinx as he menacingly whispered, "I need a new chain."
Jinx hissed. Maggie held her cat while Jinx showed her claws. "Calm down, Jinx. He's not worth it." Maggie tried to soothe her cat before glaring at Grim and stood. She carried Jinx over her shoulder before Jinx meowed something along the lines of "don't talk to me or my human ever again" then hissed like a feral cat while Maggie moved to find a new seat. Grim elicited a sinister laugh.
He loved bringing out the worst in people, or in this case, a black talking furball. He ate the buttery treat before another woman came up to him. Must be one of the receptionists since he saw her uniform.
"Would you like a free beverage?" Vilma asked him. FREE? Nothing in this world or in any other dimension gives anything away for free. Though he accepted the free soda anyway, he would've stolen another beverage regardless.
"Anything else?" She asked.
"I wanna see the fighters kill each other." Grim responded, before Vilma leaned in and whispered.
"So do I." This piqued his interest, he looked at the receptionist and saw that she had hazel eyes, dark brown hair in a typical bob, an average human, with a lot of malice. The malice is what caught his attention. "Meet me at the reception if you're interested." She walked a step before adding, "I'll pay for the drink that you just stole." As she walked away from the spectators, Grim slurped on the straw. Now this got entertaining.
Hexice pranced up the hall into a crowd of people as he searched for Breloq. When he was drawing the crowd's attention, he stopped in his tracks, took his clover-patterned skirt and flipped it inside out to wear it as a black cloak. He was not embarrassed nor frightened by the stares. If anything, he was actually overjoyed. Every eye that he met, gave him jolts of ecstasy. Every person was a mystery. The lives of everyone were from places he didn't even know existed. His diamond eye was slowly opening. He had to hurry. If his eye opened any further, he would get paralyzed with excitement. He had to avoid any more contact if he wanted to find Breloq in time before the actual fight began. He shuffled through the crowd quickly.
Shadow stared distastefully at Hexice. "That dumb thing, what is HE doing?" Indy flapped her wings. "I don't know, showing off? He does look stupid though."
Ripper curled up, his fern padding flopping to reveal huge unhealed scars. Suzanne stared at Hexice for a while and then disappeared. "Stop being invisible!" Blue yelled grumpily. "Vampires. Uggh."
The 7 feet tall deity gasped at such an accusation. He then turned around to see a group of scaly mutts. He glared with his spade eye at what he assumed to be Blue. "My pale skin symbolizes innocence not a resemblance to those blood suckers." He eyed the lizard and continued to speak, "Why don't you return home and hide underneath a meteor or something for like ever." Hexice's eye squinted as he saw a future waiting for Blue. "Fascinating little scaled dog you are." His diamond eye opened a slit. He then spun on his barefoot and walked away. "No more time to waste. I need to find my Breloq."
Blue strides over to Hexice surprisingly fast. "Your responses indicate how stupid you are," she says in a voice dripping with contempt. "Suzanne is a vampire, not you. And you were talking to Indy instead of me. Can't you even tell the difference between an Indoraptor and a Velociraptor?"
She waggles a claw in midair and a ball of fire shoots through the air, barely missing Hexice's ear. "Also, I am not a normal Velociraptor. So don't mess with me if you want to keep your head." She strides off to where the Indoraptors are making origami daggers from human skin. Indy transforms into a huge, hulking Indominus Rex roughly the size of a T. Rex and roars at a misshapen creation before turning back into an Indoraptor and trying to fix it.
"Keep your compliments to yourself, you duck," Hexice scoffed. "That brain of yours must be that small to think stupid is an insult. I desire knowledge. And to do so I must be stupid, dumb, ignorant or whatever you want to call it, of the world." He crossed his arms and leaned on a leg. "Even then, I have no interest in you primitive lizards." His eye passed Blue to Indy. "Well, maybe one."
Breloq appears around the corner and walks up to Ryan.
"There you are. Where were you?" Ryan asked, looking up at the 10ft deity. Breloq opened the zipper to respond.
"A little exploring." He pauses. "Who was she?"
"She? Oh, you mean Haeji." Ryan responded.
"Is she taking part of the fight?" Breloq queried as he observed at the Daoitu thief sttuter something.
"Yeah."
"Any reason?" Breloq shifted his gaze at Ryan.
"I believe she said money for her brother."
Breloq rubs his chin... "That makes sense."
"Why would you care? Just go see the place and leave us alone." Felin retorted, glaring at Breloq.
"No need to argue here." Ryan said to Felin. Turning to Breloq, he spoke. "Did you hear anything?"
Breloq zips his lips and gives a shrug.
"Of course you'd do that." Felin sneered.
"H-hey, s-sorry if I took so long heh." Hae Ji saw Breloq come out. "WHAT THE SH-" , and took out her scythe.
Breloq unzipped his lips, letting his jaw hang, "Hey little miss. Save that for the fight." He eyed the weapon. "Lovely knife you have, though I'd have to say, that blade will only make a scratch on me. But feel free to slice him or," he waves his thumb at Felin, "that little runt."
"Hmph, don't call me that." Hae Ji glared at the 10ft deity.
Stella saw a 7ft tall man arguing in front of the Raptors. Shadow smirked at Indy. "Whoops, you got some attention pointed at you," She laughed. Indy flapped her wings, and a little puddle of water on the floor turns to ice. "I've got my attention on him too, because I think his hands are rather petit." Suzanne agreed. "Yes, I can smell his blood from here. I'd judge it's an O type and -" Shadow flinged a finger bone at her. "Suzanne! Shut up with the math already!" She sniffed. "I am only paying proper respect to some subjects." She pointedly drains another bowl of blood.
Hexice erected his back and turned to the lizards. "Please understand that I am not human, nor do I have blood." He placed a finger on his shoulder and nicked it. No blood appeared. "But if you insist on trying to eat me." He broke off his pointer finger, revealing an abyssal inside. A couple of seconds later, his finger grew back. He tossed the broken finger at the scaled dogs. "There is your appetizer. Being eaten is nothing new. So not arousing." Hexice finally got out of the crowd. The place wasn't that big, nor was it close to a labyrinth to get lost, yet he has yet to find Ryan, Breloq or Felin. "Did I miss them? Are they fighting already?" He thought to himself as he rubbed his pointed chin.
"Hexice," Patricia called from behind him.
Hexice turned to her, looking with a raised eyebrow. "How did she know it was me? I do suppose that I stand out a bit, but there was definitely no hesitation in her voice."
He cleared his throat as he slid off his black cloak. "Ahh… Patricia. Just the person I was searching for."
"Really," she replied with amusement. "I thought you were looking for Breloq, considering that you were calling for him for the first few minutes you got here."
Hexice gave her a poker face. "There is nothing I am getting from her. I love a mystery but no puzzle piece is simply a boring mess. She is dangerous." He took out a pack of cards and shuffled it. With a smile, he offered, "How about a fortune card reading? On the house, though I never charged in the first place."
Patricia gave a small smile before accepting.
Hexice fanned out the cards, showing all 78 images to Patricia, then quickly swiped them and shuffled. Once finished, he once again fanned them out face down. "Pick 3 cards."
Patricia eyed the cards. She smirked before reaching out her fingers to touch the cards. Feigning joy, she replied, "Fortune telling? How childish? I'm in." She slid her nail across the cards. She stopped at a card, and her eyes dimmed. "I hope you know that these things are simply a hoax, especially with physical objects such as these cards." She slid out the card and proceeded to the next one. "Pure luck, randomness… and if lucky, memorization." She stopped, and plucked out another. "Call yourself whatever you want, you have no control over someone's fate." She picked out her final card. Without turning over the cards, she predicted, or rather stated what she chose, "Upright Page of Wands and 2 of Cups, and downright 4 of Swords."
"You seem to have a little misconception of who I am, or rather what I am." He signaled her to flip her cards.
Her eyes shot open to a different set: The Emperor, 10 of Swords and Wands. All downright. "I see," she responded, realizing her mistake. "You purposefully showed me those cards."
Hexice spread the remaining cards into a ring between them, facing all the cards to her, all blank cards. "Don't play dumb. I know very well that you knew what I was doing."
Patricia clicked her tongue. "Then tell me what these say."
He gave her an ominous grin. "They say that you are nothing more than a puppet waiting to be thrown out."
Patricia's eyebrow twitched at such a proclamation. "Ha. I suppose working for someone can be considered as puppetry. But thrown out… Now, that is crossing the line."
"Believe what you want. Whether by random or by choice, your ending is the same."
Faim enjoyed talking to the Yamitzu master. "There are four forms?" Faim asked.
"Yes, there are four forms in the arts of Yamitzu. The first form is Shien; it focuses on repetitive swift and agressive attacks, commonly used to overwhelm the opponent and shoot blows in hopes of triggering Yamitzu strikes. The second form is Junu..." June perked her ears, she thought that someone called her before realizing that they were talking about martial arts. "It focuses on the addition of brute force to ordinary attacks, in order to amplify bone crushing blows there by making them far too powerful. The third form is Sianoi, it focuses on when and where Yamitzu forces occur and applying them in combat. This form is the most difficult to master because it requires paper thin precision." When Yin was about to tell Faim about the last form of Yamitzu, Mewmi called out to Faim until he found him.
"Faim! There you are!" Mewmi went up to him and grabbed him by the arm.
"What are you doing?" Faim asked.
"C'mon, we need one more fighter to sign up and I recommended you." Mewmi said before she held a strong grip on Faim's arm and dragged him out of the waiting room with her hidden strength.
"Where are you taking me?" Faim asked as he was pulled away from Master Yin. Faim's voice got farther away from the Yamitzu master's hearing.
"To the Gladatorium Tryouts!" Mewmi pulled Faim out at breakneck speed.
"I was about to know what the last form of Yamitzu was." Faim managed to keep up with her speed.
"It can wait!" Mewmi told him.
Astrid took a nervous step back, shying away from the dinos and glanced around for more friendly seeming contestants that won't possibly bite off her hands. She checked her Hologlyphfic watch for any new messages, and jumped as a very angry sounding voicemail echoed through the hall: "AY, PIPSQUEAK, WHERE ARE YOU HIDING!? I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE OF ALEXANDER'S PACING! I'M SO CLOSE TO KILLING HIM." Another voice then spoke. "Tr, chill. Hey Astrid!! We're trynna find out what part of this labyrinth we ended up in, so we might take a while." Astrid smiled and chuckled at Ash's comment, before closing her voicemail.
"Not now Mewmi, I wanna know who will be my opponent." Faim said to the Femme Feline.
"C'mon, Faim. It'll be quick, just sign your name! Consider this tryout as a substitute until the real match starts." Mewmi coaxed him. Faim sighed in defeat before accepting.
"Fine." Faim signed his name on the form.
Astrid watched who she now knows as Faim and Mewmi after the blonde fighter handed over the form to a bald man before leaving the booth. I should probably follow them. Should I follow them? I mean, that Faim guy mentioned something about an opponent, and I should be fighting in the match. She drew her own conclusions in her head before straightening her purple beanie. Follow the duo it is.
