Epilogue
1 year later
One year Cole and Noelle had been together and plenty had happened in between. Cole took Noelle on a few more dates before they decided to talk to Jacob about it. When he was told that they were officially together, he just shrugged and forced Cole to play with him. Things had gone easier than expected, especially when it came to the little boy. He and Cole spent plenty of time together with Cole constantly going over for dinner. Jacob ate up all the attention. Even more so when Cole had taken him to the farm.
Cole's family was ecstatic that he found love. His parents were more excited to meet Jacob so they could dote on another child in the place. His brother and sister also took it well, with Ashley spending a lot of girl time with Noelle and Zach including her and her son in activities around the farm as well. Noelle's family were overjoyed to have Cole as a constant in their lives as well, Noelle's father warmed up to Cole again and always asked how he was doing. Every invite from both families included the whole trio as they were all stuck at the hip.
Six months into the relationship, during Independence Day, Cole had taken Noelle and Jacob camping, well it was more 'glamping' per Noelle's request. They spent the entire day just the three of them and the evening ended with Cole asking for Noelle's hand in marriage. Cole had spent hours planning an elaborate proposal that included families and friends, but when he asked Noelle's father for her hand, he suggested something more intimate since Noelle didn't like big displays that put all eyes on her. When she said yes and immediately threw her arms around him, Cole cried tears of joy.
After the hype died down, they both noticed Jacob acting quiet and to himself. When he finally opened up, he cried about not wanting to live somewhere else with a new family. Their confusion was cleared when Jacob said they would have kids together and there wouldn't be a place for him so they'd have to send him away. His sobs were heartbreaking, but the moment Cole took him in his arms and told him he wasn't going anywhere Jacob had finally calmed down. "What does it mean then?" Jacob's confusion would have been adorable if his cries weren't devastating.
"It means that I am going to be your dad, or step-dad if that's what you want. But I'm not going anywhere and neither are you, okay? You're my best friend and you're stuck with me." Jacob's tears practically evaporated and he squealed at the thought of Cole being his dad.
"Does that mean I get to call you Dad?" Cole started crying a second time while nodding at him and looking at Noelle for affirmation. Her tears and her nodding at him put all the pieces together in the puzzle that made their new family.
It was now the holidays once more and this time around, the cheer in everyone's heart was explosive. With a wedding to take place at the farm amongst the normal festivities, Cole's family hired extra help to make it through. The decorations were perfect for the season and the air of excitement running through the place had everyone giddy and impatient.
Noelle sat while her mother and Cole's mother went over last minute details. Noelle had been ordered not to move so her hair and dress wouldn't get anything on them. With all the panic and running around she had done the days previously she was glad to not have to worry for now. Not until she walked down the aisle to her forever.
She was forever grateful for her mother, Cole's mother, and Ashley his sister. They had been amazing at planning and patient with Noelle's indecisiveness. On top of dealing with the holiday season, they had been troopers with handling a wedding as well. In fact, everyone had been just as excited for the upcoming nuptials. Especially Jacob.
Jacob had been the most excited. Although he already called Cole dad, in his mind this was cementing it. What Jacob didn't know was that Cole had another surprise for him for Christmas.
Because Jacob's biological father didn't want anything to do with him and Noelle didn't want to force fatherhood onto anyone, she kept the father's name blank on his birth certificate. This made the process of legally adopting Jacob much easier as there was no one to sign away their rights. The day Cole and Noelle had gone to the courthouse for the paperwork, Cole had cried. It then made Noelle cry and they held on to one another while they calmed. Jacob had mentioned nonchalantly one day how he wanted Cole's last name if his mom was taking it as well and now that would soon be official for the both of them. Noelle constantly had to pinch herself to remind her it was all real.

The wedding passed in a blur for Noelle, mostly because of nerves and then being hypnotized by Cole. He was emotional watching her walk down the aisle and Noelle had thanked her mother for pushing for waterproof eye makeup because his tears had an instant effect on her own tear ducts. When they both shared their vows, they once more cried and Noelle's quick glimpse towards her and Cole's families had shown her that some were also spilling tears of their own. Noelle had never felt so much love in one place and she would cherish that day forever.
They dance the night away and Jacob had been the main event, dancing with everyone who would ask. Anytime Noelle felt sad or down she just closed her eyes and thought about that day. She also thought plenty about the following Christmas when Cole told Jacob he was officially going to be his dad. Jacob didn't understand the logistics and assumed he was already dad, but sharing his last name had him beaming.
It was only a few months later when Noelle dropped the next surprise on Cole. She was pregnant. Cole, being the biggest crybaby he knew for a whole year cried with her news and then proceeded to freak out and order every baby book there was.
He'd cry again when she was born, and a couple years later when the twins arrived.
Jacob's Christmas wish was granted and then some.
