ㅤㅤI've been waiting for Jimin to step outside his house for hours. Is he still asleep? Is he really not coming to university? It's already the first subject now, he's late.
I stood by the gate, waiting and keeping a lookout for him. I realized that the other students wouldn't be able to find his address unless they invaded the teachers' office, and for some reason, I have a strange feeling that Jungkook managed to obtain his address and have the audacity to show up here.
And that's not going to happen. He has to deal with me first.
"Jayeon? Is that you?"
I whipped my head to the side and saw Jimin with wide eyes. "How long have you been standing here?"
"I came here three hours ago," I scratched my nape.
"What?" His eyes enlarged little more. "Why didn't you go inside?"
"I just plan on chilling here, and I don't wanna trespass your house 'cause I respect your privacy my dude."
"Oh thank you." He let out a sigh of relief. "Wanna go in?"
"Yeah, yeah."
I sat down comfortably on the sofa while he arranges something outside. "Did you eat breakfast already?"
"Not yet," He responded.
"Oh come on eat now, you'll lose the fat folds if you don't."
Jimin entered his apartment and threw a look at me, "Can you help me? Do you cook?"
"Nah, I've tried once and I almost burned down the house. Mom was so mad she whooped my ass for a good one hour and I just never tried cooking again after that."
"Alright don't wanna risk turning this house my granmda rent into ashes." He snickered, then he went to his small kitchen and starts to prepare his food.
"What was that sound?" I asked him when something shattered on his room.
"It's the kitten probably."
"I didn't see any cat last night."
"My neighboor has lots of cats. They get lost and go here occasionally." He shrugged. "Oh it's here."
The black siamese cat meowed at Jimin, he crouched his knees and softly carried it. I smiled. "Where's your family by the way?"
"They're in Busan."
"You live here alone?" I gaped at him.
"Yeah." He released his hold on the cat and continued with the preparation of his meal.
"That's why you're independent."
"I guess." When he was done, he hastily placed the food on the table. "I'll just eat okay. Uhm, you can wonder around if you want to. Which I know you do just by judging by your expression."
I grinned. "Hehe! Thanks!"
I slowly got to my feet and took a minute to look over the simple features of the home. The living area had a warm chocolate color that gave off a homey vibe. The kitchen was well arranged and welcomed me as I entered with a blend of spotless white and soothing beige tones. I focused on the left corner where I could see his room. I pushed open the door a little farther because I saw something that piqued my interest.
The drapes of his room was moving rapidly. As if someone just passed through the window. I hastily teleported infront of it and checked something.
"I was right." I smirked to myself when I saw dirty footprints on the floor.
I positioned my hand on the window and it wasn't locked. One thing I've noticed was the motion of the drapes are moving indoor—it means that someone just got here.
"If I were you I would come out already because if you don't, I'll be the one who'll find you and I'm not really nice." I declared, tracing my fingers on the window, humming a song.
"Were you the one who was following me last night?"
I ran to Jimin's massive closet to open it but I didn't see anything.
"Oh you're not in the closet, I guess you're just under..."
"In bed?" I cocked my head to the side. "Come out motherfucker. Show your face."
I laid down on his bed and grinned. "I'm giving you a chance to explain yourself. I'm not really nice when I'm mad."
"Guess we'll have to do torture," I smirked and was about to pass through his bed while still laying down when someone opened the door.
I gasped.
Jimin gasped.
"It's not like what you are thinking!"
Jimin frowned at me. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing!" I answered.
"You're acting like a person who would get in trouble getting caught."
"...I'm not."
He then shook his head before telling me to get out 'cause we have something to talk about. I nodded before I literally dived on the floor to check what's under the bed but I saw nothing, except for different colored socks.
Jimin peeked on the door, looking down to me. "I heard a thump. What are you doing again?"
"I said nothing..." I gritted my teeth when I saw the window's now widely open. "Did you see someone leave?"
Jimin shook his head. "Leave from where?"
"Never mind."
I'll know who you are soon.
And you will know who I am.
Jimin looked at me like I'm a puzzle he was trying to solve. We are now both seated on the couch as he sips on his tea. "What's the question you have in your mind?"
"I actually have alot." I bit my lip. "First, why are you wearing a goddamn shoe in your own house?"
"Oh I didn't know I was wearing it in the first place."
"And its even dirty..." My eyes went wide to the sudden thought. The footprints on his bedroom floor flashed before my eyes. "Were you wearing it when you went to your room?"
"Yeah," He blinked.
Was I overthinking? I speculated that there was other people on the house. Was I mistaken? "Was it the cat?"
"What's wrong?"
"There's something wrong with my head, I keep overthinking everything..." I huffed. "Alright, I have a very important question."
"I have an idea what it is." He said.
"Honey. Why am I able to touch you now?"
"To be honest... I don't know too, I was really craving for a company and affection last night like what my grandma does to me when I get attacks," He explained. "When I reached out for you, I was really shocked I was able to touch you too. But I forgot about it eventually because I remembered his threat..."
"Did my powers really upgraded...?" I mumbled.
He frowned, "Is it a bad thing?"
"No I just can't believe it."
"If you ask me, I'm really happy I can touch you now." He showed a warm smile. Me too, me too. "Do you have another question in mind?"
The smile on my face faltered, "Do you notice someone following you just now?"
He squinted his eyes. "No, I don't. I actually don't feel any danger because you're around me."
"I'm happy to hear that." It felt like a thorn was plucked out of my chest.
"Can I ask questions now?" He opened up.
"Sure thing, boy."
"Do you think its weird that ghosts have powers like you do?"
I know right.
"It's weird as fuck but I don't know. I'm getting used to it though."
"How does it feels like having such powers?" Jimin asked in curiosity. "Is it great?"
"Yeah..." I trailed. "I pretty much enjoy this privilege."
"I hope I'll have that too when I die."
"Yah. Stop talking about death. Death is tragic and not ideal..."
I was humming a certain song when he talked again. "If you have a chance to become human again would you risk it?"
It made me stay silent for a moment. "I don't know actually. There's a part of me that is favor but the other half isn't."
"If you ask me, I want you to be alive again."
I chuckled, "Why do you say so?"
"Because the world needs a person like you."
Jimin and I locked eyes, and I know for sure that if I was alive—I would feel a weird sensation in my stomach. He gazed at me, clearly puzzled, while I chuckled to myself.
"Will you go again here tomorrow?" He questioned.
"Yeah." I smiled at him. It was evening already and I decided to call it a day.
It's been days since Jimin didn't attend school and I haven't seen any threat lately. I tried to find any traces of Jungkook but there's none. I wonder where he went.
Jimin and I spend our days engaging in aimless conversations. It's like that moment when you're talking to a friend and the topic becomes so nonsensical that you both lose track of what you're actually discussing, but you continue anyway because you enjoy each other's company.
He sure likes talking about unusual stuff like ghosts things, and just everything that has connection with horror.
As a ghost, I don't like the thought of it at all.
"You can teleport with your powers right?" He asked and I nodded. "You're like the girl on fantastic four."
"I have no idea who that is," I frowned.
"What? It was a well-known movie. In America it was one of the most watched movie ever."
"I only watch korean stuff," I shrugged.
"You should try watching foreign movies."
"Nah, I'm good." I answered, teasingly.
Jimin also has his eyes in superpowers. He knew a lot of things about it, he actually had a collection of comics about powers. It's his pastime I guess.
"Hey, can I say something weird," I trailed.
We were just chilling out silently when my eyes captured something odd.
"What is it?"
"Who's that soul behind you?"
