Chapter 20: Awakening
Midoriya
After being gone for more than a week for an attempted murder investigation, Shoto was already exhausted beyond belief and wanted nothing more than to get comfortable back at home in the dormitory. Just being in school was enough to put his nerves at ease. It was oh so unfortunate once his friends warned him of how his best friend, Midoriya, was missing out from school due to injury. Injury... Considering Midoriya's track record, being excused from school because of an injury wasn't in the least bit surprising. However, taking into consideration all of the events that happened lately being his newest friend was hospitalized, Shoto made his point abundantly clear that he needed to know what happened to Midoriya while the two of them were gone investigating over the last week. Shoto was terrified beyond his wits that his friend pulled an Iida as some like to call it. The details were vague, but Shoto gladly explained to (Y/n) that Iida went out and tried to murder a villain who previously forced his Pro Hero brother into an early retirement. Such a plot doesn't sound all that far-fetched coming from Midoriya depending on how you go about it...
One long school day later, (Y/n), Shoto and Hitoshi were met with the reality that everyone was correct: Midoriya was up and about without a scratch or scar. As if nothing was wrong at all.
Actually, the group couldn't exactly make such an assumption just yet. They just entered the dorms and Midoriya was waiting around just for them. "Hey Todoroki! Hey (Y/n)!" The bushy haired wonder greeted the couple with a beaming energy as they passed through the dormitory lounge. Another glance over his body, they could safely say there's nothing 'wrong' with him. Midoriya's previous scars were the same in number and still as large as they were before. "How's the investigation going? Shinsou sort of left out of the blue after you guys... Are you all working together? Anything I can help with?" Wow, the energy coming off this boy was almost sickening. Guess his curiosity makes sense though given he's practically Shun's best friend on the hero side.
(Y/n) slightly puffed out her cheeks. "My entire family's in danger now. Basically um... Shun has to either die or play dead or else more people are in danger cause the League of Villains and all this other crap," the investigation really took it out of (Y/n). She wants to call up her dad and tell him everything that's going on and how his son is on his deathbed but nope... That's actually the worst thing she could do at a time like this. She can't even go to her father about anything, period. Imagine being unable to turn to your loved ones. Imagine being the father in all this... He's going day by day blind as he has no clue how his children are doing.
Midoriya's orbs enlarged at her claim. "Is that what's going on? I've never seen you this upset."
"Yeah well," (Y/n) lightly embraced Shoto's arm. She's been clinging to Shoto more as of lately. He's always there for her and she couldn't be more thankful. "Midoriya... Put yourself in my shoes. I'm losing my brother and my family so..."
"Actually," Midoriya rubbed his arm with a light dust of pink to his freckled cheeks. "Shun's actually recovering really fast! The doctors thought he wasn't gonna live past the first day!"
(Y/n) didn't even react, but Shoto was genuinely moved. Even he had to side with the doctors. He's never seen someone lose as much blood as he had and lived to tell the tale. The crimson that made up his girlfriend's brother's body stained his skin, his clothes and left him mentally scarred up until now. "He was practically dead the last I saw him," Shoto still couldn't believe what Midoriya had to say. "Those injuries were fatal... They take weeks or even months to recover from. It's been a week... How?" The whole world was against him... Really, how?
"Um..." Midoriya's scarred fingers fiddled with the hem of his loosely fitted olive shirt. "Just between us," the boy took hold of his shirt's hem and lifted up with care. There was a long string of stitches running along one side of his ribcage. The skin was red, purple ink remained where the doctors marked for incisions. "I donated just enough of my lung to help him along. Just enough that I shouldn't be affected at all! Recovery girl stepped in too! He still has a long way to go but Shun isn't on his deathbed anymore!" Recovery Girl's quirk really could make wonders and defy the inevitable. Without her, Shun would be six feet under right about now.
Yes, here's a little author's note. As many of you speculated in previous chapters that Midoriya CANNOT donate as he's still living, he actually CAN donate. You can actually donate part if not an entire lung and still be living. However, donating isn't recommended given how advanced current technology is that artificial organs are actually better as bodies can't reject them. For the donor to be unaffected or remain almost as healthy as they were before, they can donate a lung lobe in which a little can go a long way to the recipient. It won't be mentioned in the actual story, but the reason why Shun can't use an artificial organ is because in Chapter 8: The File, It was mentioned that he's allergic to certain metals. Yes bitches! I PLANNED THIS FAR AHEAD!!!
(Y/n) unhinged herself from Shoto's side and threw herself upon Midoriya in a desperate hug. He hissed as the stitches were tender, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. The boy was stunned and couldn't even react besides staring at a betrayed Shoto. "Thank you Midoriya," (Y/n) sniffled and buried her face within the fabric upon his shoulder. "You're going above and beyond for him and I can't even bring myself to visit him once... Some Sister am I," throughout all her tears, (Y/n) found humor in such an inappropriate moment. "Can you please keep being there for him? I really hate myself for this but I really can't bring myself to visit. Seeing Shun right now would only ruin me..."
"Yeah... Of course," Why wouldn't he? He's already gone this far for him to stop now. A true hero would stay until the very end. "Do you... Do you even wanna know what's going on with him?" Because (Y/n) finds everything related to hospitals and her family to be forbidden subjects at this time. One wrong move and she may just break down on the spot.
"Why?" (Y/n) sighed. "Is it something I should know?"
"He still hasn't woken up yet," Midoriya frowned. "The doctors took him off the meds that kept him in a coma. Should wake up any day now."
"Be there when he wakes up," Shoto bowed his head. He understood how (Y/n) couldn't bring herself to visit and now he's putting all this faith on Midoriya to keep everyone going. "(Y/n) and I found a rat in the League of Villains. He's helping us bring Shun's attacker to justice. You worry about Shun... We'll worry about everything else."
"You're working under the radar again aren't you?" Midoriya knew everything didn't he? It's astonishing how he's normally one step ahead of everyone. "Just like the time we rescued Kaachan?" That's another subject (Y/n)'s gonna have to ask about soon enough. It's been brought up quite a few times around the dorms yet she's never bothered to ask about it.
Shoto smirked. "Exactly."
"Be safe," Midoriya nodded his head. "Both of you."
"He won't hurt us," Shoto darkly admits. "If he does I'll kill him..."
"Sho...To," (Y/n) couldn't believe that her boyfriend was still hung up on the whole Dabi thing. Actually, no she isn't. She's been upset about her whole life basically longer than he has, Shoto has a right to mourn too.
"I'm... I'm gonna go see Shun now," Midoriya feared questioning Shoto about this 'rat' would lead to some sort of violent outburst. He chose correctly as (Y/n) is jumping head first into the subject on her own. "Wish you both luck," and the boy excused himself as fast as he could. He has absolutely no place dealing with couple troubles!
Shoto could feel (Y/n)'s gaze burn into his being. "And this is why I'm the one who meets up with Dabi... Not you. Seriously though... Anything you wanna talk about? At first you only agreed to help since Shun's my brother and you hate him but now you're determined to help? What's going on?" Shoto resumed to divert his gaze to the wooden floorboards below. If one of the most straight forward guys she knows is avoiding a subject, he's hurting more than she ever imagined. (Y/n) sighed before caressing his cheek with a gentle hand.
Shoto held her hand gingerly to keep it on his cheek. "I love you and... I don't want you to know how it feels to lose your brother. And... I don't hate Shun that much anymore," Shoto lifted his head and locked his eyes with (Y/n). She couldn't trace any sadness or rage within them as she usually could but instead there was a tranquil peace that drifted from eye to eye like a breeze."He's a jerk... We all know this... But I understood that he acted the way he did because he's coming out of a dark place. Your brother reminds me of myself, my past self, and I can't help but hate him because of it. Now... I kinda just... Wanna help him get out of that dark place. For us both to help him, we just gotta let Midoriya work his magic."
"Well," (Y/n) smiled lightly yet it was just enough to bring warmth to Shoto's chest. "That was deep... Even for you."
"I just..." He shook his head.
"What?"
He dropped his head upon her shoulder. "I want Touya back..."
"Over the last few nights..." (Y/n) found herself trailing off. Every other night when she sneaks away from her hero life to meet up with Shoto's villainous brother about the attempted murder case, she'd talk to him and he'd casually answer back. Touya, or Dabi as he prefers to be called, he really is a heartless man depending on the subject. For one reason or another, he'll choose to avoid talking about his family if at all possible. Sometimes she'd be able to snake beneath his skin and open him up even if it was just a little bit. She'd never get much out of him, but in the end (Y/n) could tell Touya meant Shoto and herself well. "Forget me... Okay? I think you should start coming to the meetings again. I think you can handle it."
Shoto lifted his head and let out an overbearing sigh. "You really think so?"
"Why not?" She shrugged. "Touya might be Dabi now, but deep down he's still your brother."
"I'm stealing Africa tonight..."
"W-Why?" (Y/n) gasped. That came out of buttfuck nowhere!!! "I haven't seen her in a week! Yeah she's our cat, but she ALWAYS sleeps with me therefore she's mine!!!" Becoming desperate over a cat? Yeah... Add that one to the list of things to be ashamed for.
"Then I'm hugging you for a few hours." Oh no, Shoto's giving her his rare wholesome smiles!!!
"No," As much as she'd love that, she can't. Declining a hug from Shoto was one of the most painful things she's ever had to do. "I got so much homework to do and I gotta meet up with Dabi to get the weird black stuff checked out."
"I'll do the homework then," Shoto took the backpack from off of (Y/n)'s shoulders. "Take care of Dabi now, then we can do stuff."
"Such a sweetheart," she awed then pulled out her phone. The device was still foriegn to her as it always takes her a few seconds to find the on/off button. (Y/n) even had Shoto transfer over a few of the numbers in Shun's phone over to hers as sometime soon his phone will get confiscated again considering where the case was heading. It was scary how much Mr. Aizawa, Endeavor and Hawks could figure out in such little time. They have no idea that Shun used to be a full fledged member of the League of Villains but instead they're dancing around said fact. The proof is screaming at them in the face!!! Anyways, what the pros don't know works in her favor.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Midoriya's seated beside Shun's bed casually doing his homework. In all honesty, the monotonous beeping of the machines and the endless hum of the ventilators feeding oxygen into the empty hust he called his friend was coming so close to driving the boy mad. Midoriya too found it hard to look at Shun at this point in time much as his sister feared. The doctors removed all of Shun's false limbs upon being admitted into the hospital. Now, Shun only had his one remaining leg and the disproportionate body was an almost nightmarish sight alongside the mechanical ones lying in a heap in the corner. The clear breathing mask hugging the purple haired boy's face was always an uneasy sight in itself. If only he was awake, being in this room wouldn't be so difficult. At least then Midoriya wouldn't feel as if he's sitting beside a corpse.
Midoriya had been nodding off for some time now. To pass the time, he'd been reading ahead in the school textbooks. Little by little, a nap didn't sound all that bad. Heavenly even. Such a desire ripped him out of Cloud Nine as he heard little grunts or heavy breathing as others would call it. The heart monitor was picking up in pace! That only meant one thing, "you're... You're finally awake," Midoriya shot up from his chair to aid his friend at this time. Shun's upper half was elevated upon the bed, he was struggling to move his head at all. His crimson eyes were blinking like crazy yet he couldn't get his eyesight to clear and all to leave was a hazy fog. His eyes could trace emerald green off to the left. Shun could recognize that color from anywhere. "M... M..." His lips hummed as he tried to form words but he felt as if his voice was stolen from him. "M-M-Mid... Midor... Midoriya?" Shun choked out after a great struggle. "That... Y-You?"
"It's me," Midoriya's eyes glittered. "H-How you feeling!?"
"Like I'm... Dying," he moaned out like a ghost. "It... Hurts..." Everything from his chest up felt as if a million knives were penetrating through him. Swallowing should've been effortless but instead felt like he engulfed an entire pincushion pins and all. His stomach was hollow as if it hadn't ate in forever. Breathing was another story for him. He couldn't. Or at least not without his ventilator to thank. Barely anything could enter his lungs, or, what was left of them.
"I'll get a doctor!" Midoriya ran out and came back as soon as he left. The doctor made quick work and administered Shun a heavy dose of morphine before reprogramming a machine that's already hooked up to him to administer more doses on a more frequent schedule. Since Shun didn't have arms, he instead had his IVs inserted into a vein on his upper leg. Midoriya's never seen an IV put anywhere else besides a hand or arm. The doctor did a few more things like checking vitals, replacing saline and asked a few questions before leaving the boys to converse.
Throughout everything, Shun still remained puzzled as to why he was in the hospital in the first place. No matter how hard he dug through his memories, nothing came together to form any sense of understanding. "Why is it so... Hard... To b-breathe?" Shun spoke through heavy breaths now that he wasn't in heart stopping pain. Even then, each breath he took was as if only half of the oxygen he was expecting was cut off leaving him with little to utilize.
"You got stabbed... In the lungs... And your shoulder... And your stomach." Midoriya unconsciously traced his own stitches through his shirt. The skin was still tender to the touch yet he paid no mind to it.
"Stabbed?" Shun openly questioned himself.
"Do you not remember?"
"Nothing..." No matter how hard Shun tried to call back to his weak memory, nothing came through. Not even mentioning an event where he was brutally attacked didn't recall anything semi important. "I don't remember... Any...Thing... Past us... Sleeping... On the couch," and that damned fucking cat of his sister's.
"A girl attacked you," Midoriya sighed. "She stabbed you three times."
"Was her hair bright... O-Or dark?" Shun urgently strained himself to get that question out.
"Dark?" Midoriya guessed. "I've heard very little about the case."
"Is... Is my sis... Alive?" He began to tear up.
"She's with Todoroki."
"Good," he let out a sigh of relief but he really couldn't hold back those tears of his.
"I-UH!" Midoriya ran around panicking about how to handle everything. He soon settled on grabbing a tissue and helping the boy dry his tears. "W-What's wrong Shun? Will whoever attacked you go after (Y/n) next?" He nods weakly. "Who is it?" Silence. Shun lied there stunned. He refused to speak up, just lied there cursing his existence.
Till finally, Shun turned his head towards Midoriya. He would reach out to Midoriya, but he just realized he had no arms. "C'mere," Shun grunted. Midoriya's head hovered just inches away from his face. Shun used what little energy he had to press his forehead to Midoriya's. Shun closed his eyes and stayed like this for a moment and Midoriya had mixed feelings. He didn't quite understand what was going on. "Nobody can know I'm... Alive," he sighed. "I fucked up Midoriya... Fucked up..."
"What'd you do?" He asked.
"The League... They need my family... Dead... They had no idea... Who I was... Until I left."
If Midoriya could hold hands with him, he would. "You're safe with me. Forget everything else."
"You don't care," Shun grunted to the sharp pain in his chest. "That I was a... Villain?"
"I sort of always assumed you were," Midoriya pulled his head away from Shun and fiddled with his hands. It all started on the day Shoto was speculating that Shun was a villain in the first place. It was also the same day that Midoriya met him for the first time. Shun really reminded him of Bakugou and how he could've easily turned to a life of villainy. Instead, Shun was living that reality. His eyes said it all. Regret, pain, anger, they said it all. Why did Midoriya stick around after figuring him out? "Did you leave for your safety or because it was the right thing?" Because he wanted to make sure that Shun would turn himself around and made a friend in the meantime.
The waterworks were back, "I fucking regret ever joining."
"You're safe... With me," Midoriya tilted his head and gave off his biggest smile yet. Never has a smile moved Shun as much as it had today.
Back to (Y/n), she had traversed across Japan to meet up with a boy with skin of patchwork. Shoto's brother, and her own brother's best friend. They filled each other in on the new evidence collected, the suspects, what the Pros think the League is doing at this time. Dabi kept the new evidence and suspects in mind and agreed to everything (Y/n) speculated about the League's plans. Dabi confirmed her greatest fears: The League was organizing an attack to eliminate the Renora family, keep one member alive, said member inherits the family fortune and business then hands it all over to the League. The League planned to persuade (Y/n) to join the League so that the plan could run smoothly. However, they had no clue that Shun Renora was a number in their ranks but Shigaraki had his assumptions. He wanted to keep him alive. Shun was acting as a rat and fed very little 'false' information about UA to the League. Someone decided to have him kick the bucket despite how vital he was to the plans. Now they're scrambling and now (Y/n) had a price on her head.
"Why aren't you kidnapping me or persuading me to join the League Dabi?"
"I tried," the man shrugged. "Shun hacked into that training simulator a while back. 'I' was in there acting as Shoto. I tried to get you to kill 'me' but instead I beat your ass. It's all in the past now, my apologies, but now the League can kiss my scarred ass. Should've thought twice before fucking with my Dipshit and his family," Wow... Just how straightforward can this guy get? It must run in the family.
"You fucking put me in the hospital..." (Y/n) massaged her temples. "But WHATEVER!!! I'm thankful that you're not trying to kill, kidnap or hurt me anymore," anybody should be thankful to not be hurt, kidnapped or killed...
"You're welcome?" He cocked a brow.
"So can you tell me what these things are?" (Y/n) passed off a vile of black sludge to the boy riddled in scars. One glance and Dabi threw it right back.
"Shit that shouldn't exist," was all he had to say.
"What does it do? Shun had it on him when he got attacked."
"Well..." Dabi whistled. "That'd fucking explain part of why his ass nearly got killed!"
"What does it do!?" (Y/n) repeats.
"Bad shit," Dabi claims. "Part of the reason why your brother wanted to leave the League in the first place."
"Again... What does it do?" (Y/n) found herself staring at the vial with more curiosity than before. She long knew that the dark substance trapped within could move completely on its own as if it were sentient. This thing can do such great harm that even Dabi fears it? Just how can it do that? It's so small.
Dabi swallowed the lump within his throat. "I'm not entirely sure what it is," Dabi admits. "It was an unfinished project of the Eightfold Cleansers. Its purpose was to help prevent captives from fighting back. Instead, he made something that'll latch onto your brain and attack it until you're a mindless zombie that'll follow Shigaraki's every order. Until it's successfully taken over the host, the host will attack just about anything that moves... Even I don't agree with those things," hearing Dabi claim such a thing, these mind parasites aren't something to mess around with.
"Why... Why would Shun have them?" (Y/n) clutched onto the vial.
"How many did he have?"
"Like five?"
"Yeah... He ran off with the only working products," Dabi snickered. "The fact that you have them and the one who I think attacked Shun didn't take them meant she was in a hurry or there's something else going on."
(Y/n) couldn't believe what she's hearing. "Why can't you tell me who you think attacked him?"
"Because." He shrugged.
"Because why?"
"Because, Princess," the boy mocked the girl standing before him. "She's closer to you than you think. You can't take her down on your own," with each claim, Dabi remained taunting and was closing in on (Y/n) until her back was squished against a brick wall. "The dipshit would prefer if you didn't know either. There's reasons why he wants to keep his family out of this completely."
"Answer me something then," (Y/n) shoved Dabi away from her. Surprisingly, he barely budged. "Is this girl we're talking about blonde? She can shape shift too and has a thing for blood."
"No," he shook his head. "Wait... You've met Toga?"
"The bitch attacked me when I was in the hospital the time YOU put me in!!!!"
"Oh..." The memories were coming back to him. "I know what you're talking about but no. It isn't her."
"Just my luck..."
"We're done here," Dabi claimed. "I answered your questions, you gave me new info."
"Fine, okay," (Y/n) could only shrug.
Before she could turn away, Dabi snatched her by the wrist. "Destroy this thing," (Y/n) wasn't able to pocket the mind controlling sludge. In fact, she won't pocket it at all.
"Don't worry."
Dabi released the girl, "Actually... Let's just destroy it here and now."
"Be my guest," she didn't waste any time in handing the vial over to Dabi's scarred hands. He bent over, setting the vial upon the ground and lifted up his foot. With a grunt, his shoe crushed the vial in a shattering echo! A pained cry came from beneath Dabi's shoe. (Y/n) was mortified by the sight of the black sludge flailing about trying to squeeze out from beneath for freedom. "It... Didn't die?" She gasped!
"It didn't?" The boy mindlessly lifted his shoe and the sludge lunged forward at (Y/n)'s ankles. It scaled her legs effortlessly and all she could do was whine and swat at the sludge yet it wouldn't budge and continued with it's goal. Dabi hissed, reaching out with a flaming hand and snatched the being. Once again, it whimpered in agonizing pain before slipping out of his grip to make a break for it.
Dabi and (Y/n) ran after the being until it reached a busy street and Dabi refused to go into the public and held out his arm to keep (Y/n) from chasing after it any longer. "No sense..." Dabi shook his head. "Can't find it in this mess. Not our problem anymore."
"Don't say that!" She slapped the man. "Those things are capable of doing horrible things. We can't just let it run free!"
Dabi's head was still facing the opposite direction. He's still shocked after earning a slap. He did eventually turn his head back with a heated electric blue glare. "I'm sure a real hero can deal with it..." Was all Dabi had to say before spinning around on his heel.
"Yeah," No wonder why Shoto hates him so much now... "Me," (Y/n) blindly charged onto the bustling street lit up by electronic billboards and tall building lights. Dabi, realizing that she literally just ran head first into a dangerous situation to unfold, came back realizing that he was too late to stop her. His eyes traced her erratic movements through the crowd, yet nobody was reacting. Nothing was happening. Shouldn't the sludge victim start attacking people by now? No... What's the point in even worrying? It's (Y/n)'s fault for taking that thing into public in the first place. With that, Dabi threw up his hood and entered the crowd to find his way back to the League hideout.
(Y/n) could've sworn that her heart was in her ears. Her head was pounding like crazy in anticipation to come. That 'thing' is bound to find a host anytime now. It's possible that it ran away and died, but she fears that's the absolute last thing that'd happen as it'd be too convenient and in a world of heroes and villains such an outcome is too far out of reach. Just as she feared, a skull splitting howl erupted out of the sea of working men and women returning home. The civilians jumped head first into an escalated panic. They ran and ran, shoving (Y/n) further and further away from the threat. (Y/n) fought her way through the crowd until it began to thin and the threat was finally at reach. A man, maybe in his early thirties, was clawing and ripping out handfuls upon handfuls of his chestnut hair. Perched atop his head was a pair of antlers. One antler belonged to that of a stag, the other a moose. His quirk was easily read to be related to animal antlers and horns. This guy can easily prove to be trouble. (Y/n) ran over to him, yet kept her distance. "Sir! Everything's gonna be alright I just need you to tell me what's wrong!"
The man, he screamed and fought himself just to be able to lift his head. That black sludge, yeah the one that can take over minds, was latched onto the man's temple and little tendrils snaked into one of his eyes and ears. (Y/n) wanted to scream, to tell him that this situation wasn't going to end well. "Help," was the only word of his vocabulary. Help, help, help, he'd plead yet she had no idea how to exactly help him without causing more harm.
(Y/n) held out one of her hands. Her fingertips were glittering a vibrant blue. "I'm gonna freeze the thing off you... Trust me," She spoke with a reassuring smile. The man shied away, but his true consciousness told him to stay put and let the girl do her thing. If only she was a split second faster, the man would've been free of this curse but instead he reared back and dug one of his feet into the pavement with his head held low. Those antlers, they'll impale her for sure! (Y/n) jumped back and as soon as the man charged she conjured herself a protective ice wall. She knew all too well that it most likely wouldn't keep him at bay so she dove out of the way and CRASH! The man broke through with shards of glass like ice scattered within the air. Once again, he dug his feet into the ground, gave himself a few kicks, and charged. (Y/n) took a deep breath in, pressing her hands to the ground and coated the street with ice. The man slipped and fell a healthy distance away from her only to crash into a car. (Y/n) made herself a pair of skates, striding towards the man. So much ice in so little time, (Y/n)'s core was shivering violently and her breath coming out in thick white clouds. One look at her hands, and they were changing colors. Frostbite, hypothermia, it's all settling in. Gotta end this now!
(Y/n) approached the man who struggled to get his antlers unstuck from the car's frame. "I'm sorry," she held out a hand. "Forgive me..." Ice shot out from her fingers to entrap the man against the car. She used as much ice as she could before collapsing and hugging herself for warmth.
Unfortunately, the man was thrashing about. She could hear the ice that kept him at bay shatter little by little, and (Y/n) couldn't move even if she wanted too. She closed her eyes and awaited her death to come. Instead, she was whisked off the pavement into someone's arms. They were warm and strong. Her eyes peeled open to find a crazy head of midnight black and skin of purple. "Dabi?" (Y/n) breathed. "I thought you abandoned me..."
"Someone has to look after my brother," Dabi hissed as he embraced the girl tightly to his chest as he used his free hand to douse the man in his flames.
(Y/n) fought under his hold, "You'll kill him!" She cried.
"Once that thing begins to take over your mind," Dabi continued to shower his flames upon the man as he cowered and screamed in a burning mess. "There's no saving it... If anything, I'm doing him a favor." Sadly, (Y/n) couldn't fight Dabi's words and could only bury her face within his chest to conceal her eyes from the horror of being burnt alive. When Dabi felt his job was done, he picked up (Y/n) once more and ran for cover. No doubt this was all gonna make the news and their short forbidden truce of hero and villain would be broadcasted everywhere.
Eventually, Dabi stopped running. He managed to get (Y/n) on his back and continued on. Her body was as cold as ice. She hasn't even moved let alone spoken up in forever. Now he's beginning to think he's been carrying a corpse all this time. "Hey Princess," Dabi nudged (Y/n) with his head. "You awake?"
"Barely," (Y/n) replies weakly.
"You're so fucking cold," he growls.
"I overused my quirk dumbass..."
"Shun's more like you than I thought," as teenagers, Dabi and Shun fought all the time. Shun always suffered from frostbite in some way shape or form even if he barely used his quirk at all.
(Y/n) had things on her mind. "Why'd you save me Touya?"
Dabi tensed up to her words. "Call me Dabi," he hissed. "And I told you before... Someone has to look after my brother. I can tell you mean the world to him."
"Shoto's been a mess..." (Y/n) points out. "He's... Upset that you aren't his brother anymore."
Dabi was moved and found it hard to conjure a reply. "Just consider ourselves even. I saved you, and I'm one step closer to killing the bitch who hurt your brother."
"Fine..." She sighs. "Change the damned subject why dontcha?"
"Just take care of Shoto," Dabi groaned. "We all know I won't and neither will that jackass of a father we share."
"I promise," (Y/n) loosely embraced Dabi the best she could given her stiff body and this position. Dabi carried her all the way back to UA where surprisingly with his hood up he was allowed on grounds to deliver her to their dormitory. He snatched (Y/n)'s phone and made a call. Not even a minute later, Shoto came running outside where he found his villainous brother carrying his injured girlfriend upon his back.
Shoto's eyes were flaring up in pure hatred. "I did nothing to her," Dabi claimed as he carefully helped (Y/n) off his own back. Shoto came running over and held her to keep her from falling over. Ice, that's how cold her body was. "Man attacked her, I saved her, now we're here."
"It's true," (Y/n) weakly lifted her head.
Shoto couldn't stay mad anymore. All that rage, sadness, and betrayal he once felt had diminished all together. "Thank you," the boy bowed down the best he could given how he had to keep his girlfriend on her feet. "A real villain wouldn't have saved her... Maybe you're still in there... Touya?"
"She's a keeper," Dabi eyed the girl. "She cares about you more than you think. Don't ever take that for granted."
"Starting with you," Shoto smirked and made way for his dormitory. "Goodnight brother."
"My best friend's sister... Is dating my brother," Dabi sighed. "I really do hate my life."
Shoto carried (Y/n) to his room. He would've taken her to her own room, but he had the bigger bed and no way in hell was he going to leave her side after tonight. He sat his girlfriend upon the bed with care. She sunk into the bedding for utmost bliss as if she was sleeping on air. One by one, he piled the blankets upon her before slipping into the bed and embracing her from behind with his head nuzzled into the crook of her neck. "How'd the night go?" Shoto casually asked.
"Your brother saved me from a mind controlled deer guy."
"Not the weirdest thing I've been told." (Y/n) could feel her body heat rise. It wasn't just from all the blankets that was smothering her but Shoto being all lovey dovey right now was the icing on her cake. Shoto hasn't even said anything romantic, it's just him being him. Shoto adjusted himself, if only a little bit, all to pepper his girl's cheeks with light kisses. "What'd you say to Touya to bring you back home to me? Either way... I thank you for bringing him back into my life (Y/n)."
"Nothing really," She shivered yet all at the same time melted into his searing kisses. "Just know that I love you."
The entire room felt like it was on fire. Nevermind, Shoto's hair was literally on fire... "Don't be surprised if I have heatstroke by morning."
"Did me saying I love you really make you do that?" Now the left side of his face was on fire. "So cute! But Sorry. I'll knock it off. I want more snuggles..."
"I told you before you left earlier that I was gonna hold you for hours. Tomorrow's Saturday... I'm not letting you go."
There you go everyone. I put a little bit of everything in here from the fluff to action packed scenes. I also hope you ShunDeku Shippers got your daily dose of cuteness. If I had to be honest, Shun was never supposed to be such a huge character in this book but you all ate him up.
