Chapter 18: Fire & Ice

So, we all know that Dabi/Touya is making an appearance this chapter. Yes, I'm definitely going with the Touya Todoroki theory just as a warning. Since Dabi's age isn't definite besides the fact that he's in his twenties, I'm just gonna make him 20 years old since I truly believe he's no older than 21. Okay good, hope we're all on the same page!

Also, 7300 word chapter ahead.

There, within (Y/n)'s shaking palm, was a phone that rung with a vigorous vibrate that shook her entire being. She hadn't dared to answer the phone with her brother in the hospital, it'd be wrong to go through his phone. While that was true, she nearly pressed the red button on the screen. In the end, she felt It'd be downright wrong if they didn't answer a call from the poor boy's presumably worried best friend. Touya. "We're gonna give the boy a heart attack..." (Y/n)'s thumb hovered over the green button on the phone's screen. The anticipation was overwhelming on Shoto's end. He wanted to slam the green button so badly!!! With a gaze from (Y/n) to Shoto seeking for approval, she'd made her mind. "I'm answering," (Y/n) finally accepted the call and pressed the device to her ear. Shoto found himself leaning deeply into her side in order to listen in as well. (Y/n) nudged him as he was too close for her liking yet he came right back like a boomerang! Well... Guess she can't get rid of Shoto.

An aggravated sigh came through the other line. "Shit's hit the fan. I KNOW you're not dead. You've gone through worse shit than this..." Touya's claim really opened (Y/n)'s eyes as the only people who are aware of Shun's status was Shoto, Midoriya, Shinsou, Mina and herself. How did he know Shun's alive? How did he know that Shun was attacked in the first place? The police bribed the news networks to keep the news of his attack under wraps. Anybody who wasn't at the scene shouldn't know of this.

Maybe answering the call wasn't such a good idea. "And how do you know that?" (Y/n)'s eye began to twitch. If Shun's friend knows exactly what went down the night of the attack he better come clean. (Y/n) swears if Touya was responsible for the attack then she'd happily commit a murder even if it meant going to prison.

"Tch," Touya wretched. "Who the hell are you and how do you have this phone?"

"I'm Shun's sister," (Y/n) claimed.

"Which one?" Touya narrowed his eyes.

(Y/n) clicked her tongue. "Why do you need to know?"

"Depends," Touya snickered. "How much information you want out of me?"

"You-" (Y/n) found herself backed into a corner here. Shoto too didn't know what to say as he's been closely listening in on the call at hand. "How did you know I wanted information?" The girl's rage had subsided as curiosity sat in heavily like a fog that clouded her senses.

"Why else did you answer the phone?" Touya had a cocky ring to his voice. "I know you're not Nyah or April so that doesn't leave many options... That means you must be the sister lost in time. You're the one who suddenly turned Shun's life for the better."

"Holy crap you're smart," (Y/n) awed only to curse as she thought she said all that within her head not out loud.

"Look... You have info that I want and as do you. Will you cooperate?" Suddenly, Touya went from a nasty jerk to a cooperative ally.

"Okay," (Y/n) took a seat on the ledge of a nearby fountain and Shoto joined in at her side. He's still leaning heavily into her. "You first."

"Shun..." Touya hissed. "Tell me about him."

"He's in the hospital but he isn't expected to live much longer," she sighed. "He's on life support till he can get his hands on a few new organs."

"Okay," the man growled. "You're not answering me... What happened to him!?" Touya swears he's dealing with a dense bitch right about now which is saying a lot since he deals with a snarky blonde and a man of many personalities on the daily.

"A girl stabbed him last night. Once in the shoulder, chest and stomach. All..." (Y/n) swallowed the lump in her throat. "All of his vitals besides his heart. She had no weapons either."

"Hmm now was it that hard?" Touya mocked (Y/n) through the phone.

"Now you gotta answer me a few things," she growled in return.

"Yeah," Touya tuts. "No."

"Hey!" She snapped.

"Phone Calls are tracked all the time Sweetheart," Touya sang. He's very well aware that he shouldn't even be taking this call right now. "Anything I say will only cause problems."

"Fine, okay," (Y/n) rapidly tapped her foot on the ground. "Let's meet up then."

"(Y/n)!" Shoto's eyes lit up with betrayal.

Touya chuckled. He heard Shoto loud and clear. Yeah, of course this call's being tracked. "Yeah you don't want to meet me." Nothing to lose now right?

"Yes I do," (Y/n) took a stand. She's determined to get the truth one way or another. "I want to put the girl who tried to kill my brother behind bars and clearly you know more than you should. Either you help me, or I'll hunt you down..."

Ooh so scary. Sounds like something out of a movie. "Well you aren't wrong," Touya rested his side up against a wall with a pleased sigh. "I want to kill the bitch that pulled this stunt as much as you do. Tonight then... Midnight. The phones are connected. Just follow my location."

That was surprisingly easy... "See you then."

"Come alone."

"No," (Y/n) turned to Shoto. The boy was still in complete and utter shock over everything that was playing about like a deck of cards. You had no idea what was gonna happen next. "I ask that I bring a friend. He saved my brother last night. He may be of help."

"Only the two of you then," Touya compromised. "If he's a pro or if you try to pull any stunts... I'll make sure you burn as kindling for me."

"That's the last thing I'd do..." Betray your only hope in solving this attempted murder, yeah that'd be stupid on so many levels. (Y/n) hung up as Touya's last line lingered on the mind. "Burn as kindling for me..." She muttered to herself. Something about Touya's words bothered (Y/n). There was dark intent in his voice. Not only that, "I've heard that before..."

"His voice is familiar..." Shoto too was bothered by the phone call.

"Yeah..." (Y/n) groaned in realization. "I've heard it somewhere... Do you think we've met Touya before? Maybe under a different name? He made his point clear that he's a criminal who wishes to remain on the down low..." (Y/n) really can't put her finger on it. Maybe Touya's voice isn't familiar, but that quote is for sure. "Why can't I recall where I've heard that line before?"

"Let's just get ready for tonight," Shoto suggested with an arm wrapped around her backside. "You really just set us up with a villain. We're gonna be screwed if we get caught."

"No," (Y/n) hummed. "It's Friday. I'll just tell Mr. Aizawa that we both want to spend the night at your house since we're Enji's apprentices afteral." Strangely enough, (Y/n) was a master at coming up with fool proof plans on the fly. She's got that talent from Enji. Sneaking out was her main priority thirty years back and hey! It all paid off.

"That's..." Shoto's eyebrows arched upwards. "Smart."

"Touya has our backs too. We won't get caught."

Shoto locked eyes with his girl for a moment. She traced his conflict while he saw her raw determination. (Y/n) was determined to bring her brother's assailant to justice whether she did it with him or not. Shoto can't bring himself to allow (Y/n) to walk the long treacherous road alone, not after she stuck to him for as long as she had. "I meet him first... I don't trust him." Was Shoto's only condition.

"When don't you go ahead of me?" (Y/n) teased and nuzzled her cheek into Shoto's arm.

At an hour to midnight, Touya shot a text to Shun's phone claiming that based on Shoto and (Y/n)'s current location, it'd take them a while to reach the spot. That text alone basically said that they should get off their lazy butts and start heading towards the location. Sadly, Touya's location was in the next city over. No wonder why he suggested otherwise. A long monorail ride later, the couple made their stop and walked towards their destined location by following the blue marker on the mobile device's screen. The city was dark, barely illuminated by neon signs that were half burned out. Homeless folk were perched every few feet in ragged clothes begging for money from the lushes that scrambled out of bars. Even the streets weren't well kept as cigarette butts and waste were flattened upon the concrete. (Y/n) didn't like the feel of everything and as did Shoto as he forced the hood of (Y/n)'s jacket atop her head and he did the same to himself. He made sure to pull the strings to his hoodie partially to conceal his two toned hair. "We don't need to attract attention," he claimed.

(Y/n) sighed. While everything felt bad, she could tell that this part of the city was just barely hanging on. Most of the buildings were demolished, few stood and looked brand new. Still though, based on the state of everything, (Y/n) understood that a great tragedy happened here and not all that long ago either. "Do you know this place Shoto?" (Y/n) finally spoke up. "It's so sad here..."

"This is where All Might fought the Head of the League of Villains," Shoto informed his girlfriend in a harsh whisper. As far as (Y/n)'s aware, the League of Villains is a very large and infamous villain group who's succeeded in putting the All Might into an early retirement. Apparently, due to their sneaky and violent ways, the students of UA now live on property. "Their fight destroyed twenty city blocks..." The male continued on as the memory was etched to his mind as if it all happened yesterday. "I was there when it happened."

"You were?" She blinked. Shoto witnessed the fall of the Symbol of Peace?

"I was," he agreed. "The city is slowly fixing the damages. Not quick enough. Almost everyone within range lost their businesses, their homes, everything they had. It's... Quite smart that Touya asked us to come here," Shoto agreed with difficulty on his end. "There's police, but they only watch over construction equipment to prevent theft. It'd be perfect to pull a crime here," How does Shoto know so much about this place?

"Damn," (Y/n) whistled. "I'm guessing the city looked much better before then?"

"I guess you could say that..." Shoto's eyes were locked on the phone at hand. His free hand had a death grip on her hand.

Something's not right... "Why are you so on edge?" (Y/n) grew concerned.

Shoto stopped and his eyes were brought to a close. "You made the news how long ago? I don't want anyone to recognize let alone hurt you... Especially here in a horrible place."

"I'll beat anyone's ass before they can lie a hand on me," (Y/n) tuts. Just ask Kirishima! He's one of the strongest hand to hand fighters in the class and she's put him in his place thousands of times! "That's sweet but please worry about yourself Shoto."

"Not happening," Shoto huffed.

"But I should be able to care for myself. Why do you baby me all the time?" Seriously, he's never NOT around like a clingy cat, putting the beat down on just about anyone who poses any harm to herself, almost always walking ahead of her as if she can't lead her own path. Either Shoto wants her to become so reliant on himself that she can't do much for herself or he's being a clingy jealous boyfriend... Again.

"Because I'd rather die for you than see you hurt again..." Shoto sighed and turned towards (Y/n). His hand gently caressed hers. "It hurt so much that day we were in the simulation and my clone nearly killed you (Y/n). It's as if I was the one who hurt you, and it hurts knowing I did. Like... I felt a connection to you before we even met. Ever since then, and we got to know each other, we truly understand one another and care just the same. You make me really happy (Y/n)," he pressed his forehead to hers. "That's why I don't want you hurt... How do you feel about me (Y/n)?"

The shock of everything got to (Y/n). Shoto was pressing his forehead into hers and the weird part about that is that the forehead thing was hers and she's never seen Shoto initiate like that before. Shoto's mother did mention something about soulmates before to her, and now (Y/n) feels stupid for never considering such a possibility that Shoto was her destined love. He was right. They've always been on the same mind length, understood one another, unconditionally loved each other as if they've been together their whole lives. "Can I..." (Y/n) was at a loss for words. "Can I just say ditto?"

"Ditto my ass!" A raspy deep voice penetrated the conversation. (Y/n) was startled, her head whipping around to a man clouded in back from his hair to the shoes on his feet. His turquoise eyes illuminated within the night and the teens could just barely make out that his skin was patchwork of pale and violet all kept together with sterling silver staples. "You two about done with the lovey dovey crap? I've been waiting!" He claimed with an assertive glare. Imagine if looks could kill...

Shoto recognized that face from anywhere. "(Y/n)!" Shoto planted his hands to (Y/n)'s chest and shoved the girl behind himself with bone crumbling force as she tumbled to the ground. (Y/n) began to pick herself up before she was mortified by the sight of Shoto's orange and yellow flames consuming his left half.

"Shoto!?" Her voice cracked under the pressure.

"He's with the League..." Shoto hissed. His eyes fleeting from her horrified expression to narrow in on the enemy before him. "We've fought before."

"Gah!" (Y/n) shot up from the ground. She ran around Shoto and threw herself before Touya with her arms held out wide. While Touya was intrigued by her selfless act, Shoto was mortified with her decision while his flames slowly began to die out. "Touya is Shun's friend! We all want the same thing Shoto! We're all friends here!" Her voice echoed for miles. There she goes, being the most brave person in the universe yet again...

"Tch," Touya clicked his tongue. "I could've handled that myself Princess," the man claimed as blue flames crackled within the palm that hovered over her shoulder. Despite how cold (Y/n)'s body normally was, his flames were overwhelming! She felt as if the skin of her cheek was melting off!

"Blue..." Much like Shoto's evil clone in the simulator. (Y/n) found herself spinning around and examining Touya's features. Turquoise eyes, flames... Touya looks like a younger Enji behind all his scars. Didn't Shoto also mention something about a missing brother? "Touya... Todoroki?" (Y/n) connected the dots although she wanted to deny the facts standing before her.

"Touya?" Shoto heard (Y/n)'s claim in disheartening belief.

"Oh look," Touya tore his eyes from (Y/n) as he trudged to stand before Shoto. Shoto visually shuddered in the presence of his long lost brother. "Your girlfriend figured it all out sooner than my own kid brother ever could."

"I..." Shoto was too stunned to form words. "I thought you died..." Were his eyes playing games on him? What about his ears? Nothing was adding up.

"Guess again. Plus, You were that Scumbag's favorite afteral," Touya shared one last glare with Shoto before turning back to (Y/n). "You're right Princess... We're all on the same side here. From here on, only call me Dabi. Touya's dead..."

"Don't call me Princess..." She glared at him.

"Well Shun did call you the Ice Princess," he teased.

"Just how much did he tell you?" (Y/n) frowned.

"I haven't seen him happy in over a year y'know," Dabi leaned up against a nearby building and crossed his arms. "He only talks about the things that mean the world to him."

"How's a villain like you friends with a... A hero like him?" Despite how meaningful everything sounded in (Y/n)'s ears, she needed to get to the point.

Dabi smirked, "you have no damn clue do you?"

"No clue about what?"

"He's a villain too," (Y/n)'s heart went faint much like yesterday when the nurse delivered the grim news. "Or... Was," Dabi corrected himself which eased up (Yn) enough that she didn't feel as light headed as before.

"Still," Shoto let out a deep breath and approached the group. "Who are you to him? Why was he a... Villain. In the first place," Shoto admittedly couldn't care less about Shun anymore yet somehow he was in the same boat as his girlfriend. Both of their brothers are villains and best friends to top it all off.

"I've been friends with that Jackass even before I took on my new identity," Dabi claimed as he gestured his entire body. Scars and all. "We met a few years ago... It was before my first kill as far as I know..." The man thought long and hard about the day he met the pain in his ass.

Three years ago as Touya was still a teen, his body was a mess of purpled leathery skin. His quirk was to blame. With a fire quirk, his skin can only put up with the heat for so long before caving into the pressure leaving him beyond what most would consider to be 'cute' or 'handsome'. At this point in time, he was a teen fending on his own with no place to call home. He'd gladly call himself homeless if it kept him away from his abusive father. Touya gained quite a reputation among the small businesses, gangs and teenagers for his ugly complexion as well as his heartless means to deal with those who bothered him.

It was on a cloudy yet bright day that Touya came out from the shadows in search for a little bit of work. He had to get food into his stomach one way or another. Touya's grown to hate the latest generation. The teenagers were cocky as hell, acted way older than they should and loved to partake in just about everything that could fuck up their life in one way or another. Hello alcohol, smoking and sex! That was the easiest way to describe the generation to put it simply. While Shun Renora was a well behaved kid for the most part, Quirks and rich parents gave him that sense of entitlement Touya disliked the most. At this time, Shun was fourteen, Touya seventeen. Touya was minding his own business before that cocky rich kid you know as Shun came onto the scene. He's heard from miles over of Touya's impressive resume when it came to fights and sought him out!

"You!" That bright eyed teenager approached Touya wearing quite the ridiculous get up. Shun wore the black uniform of his academy but he had his hair done to mimic All Might's iconic bangs. Touya rolled his eyes and stepped around Shun without a care. "Hey!" Shun snapped. "I'm talking to you!"

"Talk to my ass, brat..." Touya growled without a look back.

"I WILL become a hero like my sister! I want you to fight me!" Shun claimed yet Touya remained disinterested. "I'm strong! I've never fought someone with a fire quirk before!" Touya kept walking. "Wanna bet something? Name your price! My parents are loaded," he snickered yet in the meanwhile his offer was tempting to Touya. Why bother to look for work when there's a cocky fourteen year old here that he can con out with ease?

Touya came back, surprising Shun as he thought his offer wouldn't tickle the elder's fancy. "What's the bet?" Touya reeked with desperation.

"Anything I got on hand... U-Unless you have a price?" Shun began to worry as he dug himself a hole.

"I just need money," Touya claimed.

"I think you need a hospital more than anything," Shun commented, taking notice of Touya's burned skin.

"Money," Touya repeated.

"You can take my wallet for all I care," Shun placed his leather wallet into Touya's hand. "You don't need to win or anything. You need it more than I do," Touya was astonished by the selfless act of this kid. Shun bowed his head, "I haven't had a good fight in a while, so please... Please take me seriously without actually killing me! That's all I ask," his head rose.

"I really can't promise your life," Touya frowned. "My quirk is a curse."

"So is mine!" Shun flashed his hands before the males face. His fingers were sickeningly skinny as if they had no meat on them while his fingertips were countless shades of purple, almost black. "My quirk gives me frostbite bro! I literally can't feel my hands anymore, but they still move and that's fine!"

"Disgusting..." Touya commented, yet he perfectly understood Shun's position.

"I'm aware," Shun chuckled

Two years later, Touya had discarded his true name for another: Dabi as he'd join the life of villainy for good. Shun Renora kept to his side like glue despite how far apart their worlds had stretched apart. A villain and a boy who strived to become that of a hero. Yin and yang. You can't have one without the other, and that's why they hadn't split apart yet. Dabi had understandable motives behind his decision to turn villain: To rid the world of selfish heroes who only act for fame and money. And for that, Dabi's belief in Hero Killer Stain's ideals had him recognize Shun as a future hero. The boy already had the money, and he hates attention, he just loves to beat ass and feel good saving others in the meantime. Dabi has never told Shun that he's recognized as a hero in his eyes and plans to keep it that way. Except, the news might just come out today.

"You know I can't just go out into public ya Dipshit..." Dabi cursed as Shun forced a face mask over his friend's mouth and nose to conceal his scars only to turn around and whip out a pair of one-way shades. As of now, besides Dabi's nose piercings, Dabi had no defining features.

"I got accepted into UA dude..." Shun smiled merrily as he held up his phone for Dabi to see his own reflection to prove he was well disguised. "My other friends are throwing me a celebration for getting in. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am. You're celebrating with me Touya. Besides," he punched his friend harshly over the shoulder. "It wouldn't hurt for you to have some fun with actual people NOT corpses."

Of course, his mind's set. "How many times have I told you to ditch that name?"

"Cause," the boy shrugged. "I don't see you as Dabi. Only as Touya."

"I..." Dabi went speechless. "Let's get to your damn party."

"Just tell me ya love me!" Shun sang.

"Fuck off Dipshit!"

The boys walked to their destination. Emphasis on walk because Shun wanted to show Dabi how nice it was being able to walk in public without the fear of a policeman or a pro taking you into the brig. While it was enjoyable, Dabi soon grew on edge to the sudden flurry of civilians and pros gathering in escalating numbers to a bank of all places. Based on what the boys could pick up from the fleeing civilians, there was a bank robbery in progress. Apparently, the villains were picking off Pros left and right with ease.

Dabi knew exactly what Shun was thinking. "Oh fuck no," Dabi cursed snatching Shun by the collar of his shirt before he could run off. "Don't get ahead of yourself. Leave it to the pros. At least they're trained."

"But..." Shun struggled under his hold. "Someone has to defeat them."

"And it's not gonna be you..."

"Then you!"

"What?"

"You take care of the villains then if you won't let me!" Shun had a point, Dabi has yet to lose a fight since honing in the capabilities of his cremation quirk.

Dabi sighed, "I'm not risking getting caught."

"Then I'M helping!" Shun punched Dabi in the chest and ran off. Dabi was doubled over, struggling to get air into his lungs as the punch encrusted icicles to his chest upon contact. Each breath in made his lungs seize as if he was breathing atop a mountain. Shun was adamant. He took his friend out of the equation to make sure no one would get in his way. That there's why Dabi recognizes his friend as a true hero in the making.

Upon arrival, all the rumors were true. Bodies were piling up, civilian and heroes alike. All battered and bleeding. Crimson stained the scene. Someone has to end this. Shun fought his way to the front of the crowd and jumped into the heart of everything. A quick reflexed Pro was holding up her own against another female opponent. Her opponent being a freak of nature. A girl with technicolor hair, a long tongue that hung from her mouth all the while dressed in a form fitting suit of black with a long prehensile reptilian tail. The girl was scary quick, utilizing her tongue and tail to wield two large knives, two more within her hands, as she attacked the pro relentlessly. Shun glared at the monster, so unforgiving... He allowed icicles to form within the air around his body and mentally commanded them to rain hell upon the reptilian female. The girl foretold the attack, using her lightning fast reflexes to swipe and destroy each and every icicle until all that remained was snow. It wasn't until now that Shun realized that he should've listened to Dabi.

"Whew," the girl wiped the sweat from atop her forehead with the back of her hand. "That was quite a workout," the pro, thinking the girl was distracted, instead got blindsided by the reptilian tail that stabbed her square in the hip. She collapsed to the ground. The tail finishing her off with another stab to the back. Shun was mortified by the murder he just witnessed and his body refused to move. "Hey boy," the reptile winked at Shun seductively. "Impressive quirk ya got there. I could barely block those ice thingies. I say you join us, we could use you."

"You..." Shun's body began to tremble. "You killed her so-so-so ruthlessly..."

"Yeah, so?" She shrugged. "Don't get in my way."

"Why would I want to join you?"

"Um because," she cocked her head forwards. "It's the only way I won't kill ya dreamboy. Do you wanna live or visit heaven? It's quite simple!"

"Fine... Yeah..." Shun stepped forwards. "I'll join..."

"Good boy," Reptile Girl slurped up her long tongue back within her mouth. Her hair changes colors to that of a deep violet, the same exact tone of Shun's hair. "Damn this color looks great on the both of us!" She hooted and smacked her hand square between Shun's shoulder blades and led him within the bank.

This girl... She must have a chameleon quirk. And why is she trusting me so easily? Shun thought as he progressed to mimic the girl's actions. His palm had an icicle jutted from his skin that hovered just mere centimeters from his back. Stab her in the heart, take her out now- NOPE NOT NOW!!! Within the bank was an army of more animal hybrid villains. Shun could make out a man with dog characteristics, another man with monkey characteristics and yet another man with what he assumed to have bear characteristics. If Shun pulls anything, he's as good as dead.

"Should've listened to Touya," Shun muttered beneath his breath.

"Touya?" The girl hissed. "Friend of yours?"

"More like a pain in the ass," Shun didn't hesitate to answer.

"I'm right here," Dabi tuts as he effortlessly entered the bank behind them.

Reptile girl pulled three knives on him, "Who said you could come in!?"

"I did," Dabi sheds himself of his glasses and mask to reveal his true identity.

Reptile Girl's entire body went ghost white. "Oh..." She cleared her throat. "Whatcha want?" What? Does this girl know him?

"Half," Dabi narrowed his eyes. "Or else I burn down this entire bank and everyone here."

"Fair enough," she ran away to tell her partners in crime about the new plan.

"Let's get the hell out of here," Dabi snatched Shun's wrist.

"You're here, let's kill them right here right now," Shun hissed.

"You fucking owe me," Dabi claimed. He truly wanted no part in this bank heist but apparently he has to play friendly a little bit longer.

"The girl is the most dangerous," Shun warned.

"That's why I'll burn her ass first," Dabi casually approached the group of villains. Shun followed in his footsteps and not so surprisingly Dabi didn't have the patience and pulled the first attack. The villains screamed out in pain to the blue flames that doused their bodies. Shun ran away to avoid the attack and ushered all the staff and hostages to flee before things got too dangerous. Everyone got out, but that didn't mean shit...

Dabi was being overwhelmed by the villains. This wasn't a one man job and luckily this place was hot as hell! Shun dragged a hand across the ground as large icicles shot up from the ground in a trail towards the cluster of villains. Sadly, they all dodged and the bear man was enraged! He was steamrolling his way through all the flames with a fist held far behind his head. Shun dodged out of the way before the bear could collide with him as his fist lodged right into the wall behind. Shun threw more icicles at him, all of them seeming to harm him little to none at all. The bear unlodged himself and came back with steam coming from his nose. This time, Shun couldn't outrun him and took a body crushing punch to the chest. On the ground, choking on everything from air and blood to the bones of his collapsed ribcage, all of the villains surrounded him with wicked grimaces.

"I say we let him burn with the rest of the place," Reptile girl sang.

"Break every last bone!" The dog man kicked the boy across the room.

Shun thought that it was a miracle he was still alive let alone conscious considering how it felt as if his body was being broken little by little. "Breaking bones sounds fun!!!" The girl rocketed over! Her chameleon tail wrapped around one of Shun's legs, coiling around the limb ever so tightly, before constricting to crushing feats! Every bone crushed to dust. Shun screamed in agony, the floor around him becoming icy as he encapsulated himself within his own icicles to protect himself from further harm. That bear man was making quick work of the Shun's capsule and it didn't leave him with many options.

'I got everyone in the building to safety... I'm fine dying here knowing I did what any true hero would. Would (Y/n) do this? Maybe I can ask her once I reach heaven...' And with that, Shun let go. He was going to end his life to ensure these villains wouldn't harm another soul. Surprisingly, his arms were still in tact. Shun could just barely lift his torso off the ground with two hands planted firmly below. He surrendered all of his body heat as the entire bank flooded with sky high icicles, destroying everything in their path. Everything except his friend. Dabi survived only because he used his quirk to melt the ice. His body was still battered and weak from fending off those villains and it was a treat seeing them impaled by Shun's impressive work of art which only left room for concern. Dabi remembered full and well that Shun can only use his quirk so much before risking hypothermia and frostbite.

"Did he really?" Dabi refused to finish his sentence and he weaved through the minefield of ice to reach that ice capsule of Shun's from where the attack originated. He melted an opening, and entered the capsule to find Shun's arms encrested with ice up until his shoulder. He was pale, motionless, his lips purple too. "He really did it..." Dabi clutched onto his chest and worked to free his friend's arms from the ground. Once freed, his hands and most of his arm was shades of purples and blacks. "Well... I can't save those..." Dabi tried to stay strong but was ultimately about to break. "I won't let something as stupid as this kill you... Dipshit..."

Back in reality, Dabi cursed remembering both the most important and life changing moments of his life. "I've never met anyone who wanted to beat someone's face in as much as that purple haired pain in the ass," the man cursed. "He wouldn't leave me alone. He's just lucky to have grown on me or else I would've burned him down."

"Sorry to interrupt, but did you turn my brother villain?" (Y/n) apologized from the pit of her heart. "He speaks pretty highly of you so I'd hate to learn that you turned him bad. Even my dad mentioned Shun took a turn for the worst after his 'accident'" the arm accident.

"That was around the time he joined up with the League," Dabi mentioned. "It was shitty when he thought his life was meaningless after his arms waved goodbye. Shitty schools and pros turned their backs on him. Shun wanted a 'sense of belonging' since he wasn't cut out for hero work" Dabi mocked his friend. "Shun joined up with the League before I did. No damn clue who or why someone talked him into it, but he's my main reason for joining."

"That's why you're so willing to work with us?" (Y/n) jumped the shark.

"I just want to know who tried to kill him," the air around Dabi turned dark. "I'll burn them to ashes..."

"Do you have any idea why someone tried to kill him?" Shoto questioned.

Dabi nodded, "Because you set him up in a cozy position with Eraserhead, he signed his resignation with the League. Shun kept pestering me over how he should leave because he was worried about how Tomura would take the news. He even thought about faking his death! Tomura took the news of him leaving lightly since Shun was only called on raid missions. I haven't heard from him since he parted ways. Next thing I know, someone tried to give him the axe. Someone in the League because shit's hit the fan... Hard... Here we are now."

"We know it's not Tomura," (Y/n) frowned although she has no idea who this Tomura guy is.

"We don't know that," Shoto claimed.

"It wasn't," Dabi reassured. "I've seen him do fucked up shit," Dabi made a slicing motion against one of his arms. "He once cut off a man's arms and purposely left him alive for the purpose of leaving him in prison to suffer for the rest of his life."

"Overhaul..." Shoto shivered. Enji brought up to him more than a few months ago how The League raided a prison transport with Overhaul on board. They took nothing except his arms and left...

"Exactly... If Tomura wanted Shun dead, he would've done it in person"

(Y/n) wanted to cry once more. "We have no leads besides the person being a girl..."

"Oh," Dabi smirked. "I'm pretty sure I know who tried to kill him. I just need to know for sure before I put my ass out on the line."

"Who!?" Shoto and (Y/n) snapped.

"She's some bitch," Dabi surely sounds like Bakugou right now. "She's been working with the League as an assassin for hire. We've never seen her face, heard her real name, nothing. We just know she's been sticking around in order to get money in the bank."

"And how are you sure it's her?" Shoto began to glare.

"Because Ice Princess here told me earlier that it was an older girl who had no weapons," Dabi remembered the phone call from earlier like it's the back of his hand. "The Bitch is older than everyone in the League currently and her quirk turns her fingers into swords or something. She's the one who talked Shun into joining the League in the first place where he acted as her right hand man. The Bitch lost her partner... I'd say it's a revenge story." What was the point in this meeting then? Dabi already cracked the case wide open!

"It has to be her," (Y/n) embraced Shoto's arm with an excited squeal.

"No," Dabi shook his head. "We need to make sure it's her and no one else."

"Why?" Shoto rubbed (Y/n)'s backside.

"Again, I'm not risking my neck if the girl isn't the person we're looking for. You guys will keep in touch with me, feed me any information you got, then I'll burn down the whole city if I must."

"You really care about Shun if you're going this far for him," (Y/n) couldn't believe she was genuinely smiling at a villain.

Dabi remained silent then turned his back on them, "keep me informed."

"We will," (Y/n) nodded her head.

"Before you go," Shoto was through with biting his tongue and Dabi stopped on the spot to listen. "I may have been young... Dad wouldn't let me play with you or Natsuo or Fuyumi after my quirk came in... But I still cared about everyone especially you," Shoto was growing teary eyed, bringing up horrible memories. "You were there for me when my mom and Dad was beating on me... Until you just left... Did you really get into an accident? Or did you truly leave the family?" Shoto wasn't going to let his big brother leave so easily. Touya understood Enji's abuse and that's how he helped Shoto pull through. Shoto was devastated the day he left...

Dabi too was moved by Shoto's words yet his exterior remained solid. "Consider it both," Dabi had poison in his voice. "I was through with the abuse Shoto... Sorry I left, but Touya's dead. Get it through your head," and with that, Dabi left.

Shoto's entire body shook with one shaky breath. Next thing (Y/n) knew, Shoto was kneeling on the ground and tears fled from his eyes. "Shoto..." She too knelt down. Shoto lied his head upon her shoulder and wept silently. Was it wrong to say that he's only ever felt safe and sound in a woman's arms? He's always been able to reflect upon his darkest moments in the arms of those of which loved him more than their own life.

Once Shoto pulled himself together to some extent, they went to the Todoroki estate to spend the night as planned. (Y/n) went to draw herself a bath while Shoto just wanted to sleep his emotions away. On the way to his room however, he passed the shrine of Touya Todoroki. His parents put up the shrine after his 'death' so many years back. The pictures of his older brother, he was young, had flawless skin, radiant turquoise eyes and a head full of crimson hair. Nothing like the Touya today... Scarred skin, piercings galore, cold dead eyes and jet black hair. "What'd I do wrong?" Shoto sat upon his knees at the shrine with closed eyes as he paid his respects towards the brother that no longer remained. Nearly ten minutes passed, Shoto felt that it was time to move on. "You claim Touya's dead," Shoto's left hand ignited into flames. They were yellow with a near blue middle, the hottest his flames had ever reached. He aimed for the wooden frame of the lost boy. The flames quickly made work of the small shrine and the boy couldn't care less as it burned his memories away. "Goodbye..."

"Shoto!!!" Shoto's brother Natsuo charged in as smoke filled the home. His hands were full with a fire extinguisher as he fought to put out the flames. In due time, the problem was taken care of. Natsuo wasn't happy of course. "Shoto... Why..." The sight of his late brother's shrine reduced to charred rubble brought out the tears in his eyes. "Why would you do this brother?"

Shoto took a few breaths in and slowly released. "(Y/n)'s brother is guaranteed to die..." Shoto began to list off his problems one after the other. "Touya left us... He cares more about her brother than us... He's... Dead to me."

"What..." Natsuo tried to choke back his tears. "I'm not mad at you Shoto," Natsuo sighed. "I still blame Dad for his death every day."

"Yeah..." Shoto trudged away from his mess. Off to bed he went.

Sometime later, (Y/n) finished her bath. The entire home smelled distinctly of sweet smoked cherry wood. Nature smells, (Y/n) couldn't get enough of them. She knew that she was sleeping well tonight! The girl passed by Shoto's room on the way to her own before she backtracked and at the thought that Shoto left his door wide open. Even before she was a student at UA, Shoto never left his bedroom door open. (Y/n) knew that she should check in on Shoto before bed and so she stepped within the room, her feet made the floorboard creak beneath her weight. Shoto never bothered to get out of his uniform as he slept soundly on his back upon a neatly made bed. Normally, (Y/n) found Shoto to hold everlasting youthfulness while he slept, but not today. The poor boy was worn out, a mental tug of war took place as she could trace the sight of dried tears upon his cheeks. Did he cry himself to sleep?

"Looks like we're in the same boat Shoto," (Y/n) knelt down before his bed. She rested her head upon the mattress as one lone hand caressed his cheek. "My brother will be dead come morning and yours... Well... He may be 'gone'... But our brothers will always care and love for us even when we're a million miles apart," she picked herself up just enough to gently kiss Shoto once on the cheek, once on the nose, and once on his lips. Of course he didn't flinch, too bad he never heard a single thing she said. "I'll always be here for you Shoto... Don't ever forget that."
