Chapter 12: Jealousy

Although a lot did happen in this chapter, I am not going to upload chapter questions this time around.

Was it wrong to admit that you never came to like hospitals? It's not that you're against the idea of a safe place to get medical attention, you just don't like being there period. Your entire childhood up until your admission into UA was spent in and out of hospitals thanks to your cursed quirk. Not to forget, just going in for a visit to a friend or family member in the hospital is just awkward to say the least. They're in pain and in the back of almost everyone's minds they're thinking 'Are you gonna die?' or 'You're in so much pain I can't relate' or even 'Your life is over. Anybody would be upset.' That's why you hate hospitals so gosh darn much and you're confident that others share the same opinion.

Now you're the one in the hot seat. While the hospital stay is bearable to say the least, in the pit of your heart you had the innermost desire that your endless boatload of visitors would muster up some respect and quit visiting you.

Your visitors did thankfully stop dropping by as the hospital had strict visiting hours. Needless to say, you were so close to giving the hospital a list of people you were fine with visiting like Shoto, Midoriya or even your brother. You didn't do it though, you weren't that heartless. The visiting hours weren't a definite rule apparently as you weren't wise enough to think that some people just don't like to follow the rules period. In the dead of night, an unknown visitor entered your hospital room unannounced while you were in a slumber. Luckily, your clairvoyance came handy in moments like these as you woke up within the girl's presence. Typically, clairvoyance would kick in to alert you of someone approaching your bedroom door or if you were about to receive a text. Now though, it forewarned the potential dangers to come.

The visitor took a stand just before the foot of your bed. Your eyelids weakly fluttered open and locked with the golden gaze of a crazed female. Of course you had all the right to call her crazy. Her dirty blonde hair was pulled up into two messy buns on either side of her head. Her eyes were clouded over in lust as she bared her vampiric razor sharp fangs with an array of syringes cluttering her body as they held the liquid crimson of countless victims. Each syringe was labeled: Shinsou Hitoshi, Eijiro Kirishima, Momo Yaoyorozu, Mina Ashido. Those were your classmates, and only the names of your classmates were on hand, and she's attacked them all.

Something about being conscious within this girl's presence told you that she enjoyed it dearly. There was a flicker of overbearing excitement in her eyes. "I know my mind isn't completely here..." You struggled to talk through your drowsiness and intoxicating pain medications. "I can tell you don't mean well. Why are you here?" What was the point in asking? As if a dangerous person with any ounce of sense would foil their own plans.

The blonde hummed sweetly. "Just doing a little blood collecting."The contraption she wore was horrendous as stated before. It was a gunmetal grey frenzy of tubes that connected themselves to the syringes that held the blood of your classmates. The last canister was polished with shine as it had your name on it. "Now cutie, we can do this the easy and sucky way or the fun and painful way," either way, you'd have no choice but to agree with one of her terms. It'd be stupid to fight in your given state.

You swallowed the lump within your throat, "Why are you doing this?" Was all you had to ask as you urgently pressed the nurse button on the side of your hospital bed. No doubt a nurse would arrive any second now to help you out of this dire situation.

The girl took it upon herself to sit down at your feet, a hand on your thigh. "It's all part of my quirk," the girl swung her feet playfully as they didn't touch the ground.

"No really... I need an answer," you retaliate. Goosebumps began to tickle at the skin of your forearms.

The girl flashed you a wicked pearly white grimace as her body began to melt on the spot in a grey sludge of sorts. Her feminine features began to melt away and become replaced with more masculine features like a flatter chest, bulging muscles and short hair. Before you knew it, you've gone petrified at the sight of your cheesy red haired classmate standing before you. "I was ordered to get blood samples from all the UA students checked into the hospital..." The Kirishima impostor too had his exact voice and it was haunting to say the least. "C'mon (Y/n)! Would you give me blood if I asked?" The Kirishima imposter smirked in your direction.

"Just how strong is my pain medication?" You began to blink rapidly. Please tell me I'm just tripping balls or something? Am I lucid dreaming? Someone wake me up from this nightmare.

"Oh forget it..." Kirishima melted away in a grotesque fashion to become that girl from before. "I'll just leave. Mr. Buzzkill told me to leave you alone anyways..."

"Who?" You cocked a brow. Someone I know is out to hurt my friends?

"My hottie of a boyfriend," the girl entered dreamland as her head dropped off to the side to rest upon her shoulder. "Well, he isn't my boyfriend yet," immediately came back to reality with an upset groan. "Dabi also told me to leave this Shoto guy alone too. What is up with everyone? Don't tell me who I can and can't touch! They joined the League for a damned reason! Could you just let me grab some of your scrumptious blood and I'll be out of your hair?" This girl was desperate that's for sure...

"You were gonna take my blood whether I gave you permission or not..."

"No," the girl pouts her lip. "I was gonna take your blood if you were asleep. Big difference!"

Your eyelids began to droop. "Fuck off..."

"Fine..." The girl trudged away. "Better sleep with one eye open."

"I will..." You growled as the girl left the room with a skip to her step. Not even a second later, Kirishima entered the room in a hospital gown with bandages covering his arms and face. All you could do was point towards the door. "No more bullshit! Get your ass out of here!" For all you knew, this Kirishima could be that blonde chick again trying for another taste of your blood.

"(Y/n) I'm not that crazy chick," Kirishima assured as he held up his forearm that bled profusely from a large hole. Kirishima knew to keep his placement as he saw your fingertips sparkle with blue glitter. "She attacked me too. I would've been here sooner but I couldn't exactly get out of bed." Kirishima signified his struggle by shaking the IV machine within his right hand's grasp.

"Yet your happy ass is walking around..." You grumbled. Yeah, this was the true Kirishima. No way that girl from before could change her clothes so quickly and hook herself up to an IV.

"Did she attack you too?" Kirishima approached the bed with alert eyes that scanned you from head to toe.

"No... But she was close."

"Should we call the police?" Kirishima wasn't sure what to think. Technically the girl didn't gravely injure anyone, or at least from your understanding she didn't hurt anyone enough to send them to the grave. The night nurses are bound to stop her on the spot.

"I pressed the 'Call' button on my remote," you unlatched your personal nurse/tv remote from the side of the bed. The Call Nurse button was lit up red meaning you did in fact press the button. "Where are the nurses? Unless..."

"The girl attacked them too?" Kirishima feared for the worst.

The nurses weren't injured at all. In fact, they were too busy dealing with Shinsou, Momo and Mina as that crazy blonde chick had attacked them first in that exact order. Kirishima ended up spending the night within a 'special' chair in your room. The nurses almost complained, but respected how Kirishima remained there like a guardian angel in your time of need and let things slide. Didn't get past the fact nobody could catch that blonde girl let alone figure out what she was going to do with the blood of your classmates. The police flooded the hospital the next morning conducting a thorough search and questioning the hospital wing. They came up with nothing and left. The hospital didn't allow visitors that day leaving you to chat it up with Shinsou and Kirishima for the rest of the day despite how badly your pain medication made you bipolar as hell. You tried to talk with Momo, but she kept turning her nose up at you with false lies saying she was 'tired' and 'Wanted to sleep.' She's just lucky the hospital gave her permission to go home or else you would have long given her a piece of your mind. You did absolutely nothing wrong to her! Why does she hate you so gosh darn much!? Anyways, you're just glad that the police questioning was over and that you'd take visitors from your classmates over the police anyday.

"Too bad you two are stuck here," Shinsou flared out the collar of his jacket as he entered your hospital room. The hospital must have released Shinsou as well judging by his looks. The violet haired boy turned to Kirishima in particular who sat within the comfy chair of the room. "I didn't think you got hit too bad in the sim... What's up?" Shinsou's curiosity peaked. Kirishima, although he had bandages all over his body, was allowed to run around shirtless and in a pair of sweatpants. The second you aren't required to wear the hospital gowns, you should be allowed to leave. That's what Shinsou believed at least.

"It's a long story," Kirishima snickered. What was so funny?

"Not really," you point out bluntly. "You got your ass handed to you."

"What is up with your painkillers to give you such a pottymouth!?" Kirishima whined.

You weakly snickered, "You don't seem to have a problem when Bakugou does it."

"Because he's..." Kirishima trailed off. "Bakugou."

"Whatever... Get on with your story."

"The doctors are worried that I need surgery..." The crimson haired boy sighed. He doesn't need surgery on top of that attack from the blood chick. "Apparently when clone Tamaki attacked me in the Gauntlet, his tentacles were poisonous. On top of that, Mina's acid burnt my skin clean off. I'm stuck here for observation until they can conclude if I need a skin graft or something... I don't know." A skin graft is a doctor's term for a skin implant. Kirishima lacks flesh and unless he can start growing it back fast, he's stuck undergoing a surgery.

"Could've just said that you needed surgery..." Shinsou wanted specifics yeah, but he didn't want that much. "I'm just pissed that the police crap kept me here an extra day," Shinsou sighed as he explicitly wanted to return to the dorms as soon as he can. He was mad that he was put in here in the first place. Yeah, he's banged up and has a few bruises, nothing time can fix. The only reason he was checked into here was because Ojiro knocked him out cold. "I'm going back to UA. Do either of you need anything? I can bring them down later or send them up with Shoto." While he might be pissed, he's willing to make your stay better because it was torture on his end.

"Can you ask Bakugou to come and visit me?" Kirishima smiled with radiance.

"How about some real food..." You refused to look at the swing out tray that sat on the left side of your bed. The hospital has been feeding you the most bland food imaginable since your medications don't play well with your stomach. Over the last three days, your food pallet consisted of water, chicken noodle soup, toast and plain jello-and not the good kind either. Are they trying to take away your love of food as a whole?

"I'll pass on the message," Shinsou agreed to that much at least. He spun around to leave, only to come right back with a burning question. "Can I have you water?"

You peered at the plastic cup sitting on your side table. The nurse brought it in like ten minutes ago yet the mountain of ice it held looked as if none had melted in the slightest and condensation had clouded it's outer shell. "Have at it," you offered.

"Thanks..." Shinsou picked up the cup. You expected him to drink it, but instead he pressed the icy cup to his right eye, his black eye, and let out a sigh of relief. Yeah, during the exercise Ojiro knocked him in the face with his tail and even days later he can barely open said eye. The ice must feel marvelous against it. Shinsou greatly appreciated the relief, "Bye..."

"Have fun with your eye," You could only snicker as Shinsou gave you a deserving glare and left the room with a limp to his step.

"Dude... You're so rude when on painkillers," Kirishima commented.

"Oh this is nothing," you grinned. "My dosage was much higher on day one. I was laughing at the dumbest shit."

"Like what?"

"I don't know," You shrugged. "For some reason I kept laughing at the word bananas..."

Kirishima's face went red, "I think I'm gonna take a nap."

You watched as Kirishima was rushing himself out of your room. "Banana whore..." You pout as you knew the banana joke must have originated from somewhere and that somewhere was Kirishima. "You're a whore for bananas..."

Although it was late, someone did visit. Yeah, you know who that was. It was uplifting to see Shoto step into the room with a relieved look on his face upon seeing you overjoyed to see him. "I take it you're fine? Everybody heard about the attack and you look better than you did a few days ago."

"Well no shit..." You spoke sarcastically. "I really want out of here. I hate hospitals. I spent like half of my childhood in and out of hospitals."

"Well that isn't concerning at all," Shoto spoke sarcastically in return. You've noticed that while he's normally monotone in speech, he doesn't take sarcasm and mockery lightly. Despite his tone of voice, he proceeded to swing his backpack off from one of his shoulders. "I heard from Shinsou you're in a bad mood so I brought you a few things... I have one question though."

"What's up?" you hummed.

"I know your vocabulary is a bit vulgar right now, but did you say something to Yaoyorozu?" It's official, Yaoyorozu is out to get you. Why else is Shoto now aware of the sour relationship the two of you share.

"If you mean I tried to have small talk with her, then yes," you suggested. "I'm sorry but she doesn't like me. I can tell. Thanks to Enji, I can read emotions really well and hers towards me is like a big 'Fuck You!' To the face," Shoto doesn't believe you to say the least, yet he also does. You haven't lied to him before but your swinging emotions leave Shoto to believe you did say something horrible to Momo without being aware of it. Now that you think about it, "Did Momo say something to you? Why else are you asking?"

"She's been acting weird lately. I haven't noticed it personally..." Shoto admits. "Kaminari and Midoriya pointed out to me that Yaoyorozu has been clinging to me more and more lately. Especially today I guess. She wanted me to help her get caught up with school work and that's why I was late. Kaminari suggested that I tell her to back off... But Why?" You've never seen Shoto look so visually confused since he met your foxy little siblings and even now you're still unsure if Ryota and Ryuko are family pets or siblings.

"I can barely think straight and I can tell that she's being a jealous bitch," all you had to hear was the facts.

Shoto was stupefied, "she's jealous of us... Jealous of us dating right?"

"You're so slow sometimes..."

"I've thought about that before," the boy states in such a bland manner. He never did understand why Yaoyorozu of all girls would stick so closely to him since day one of UA. In the back of his mind, he knew she liked him but never felt the same way. "Yaoyorozu, she's better than to stoop so low. That's why I didn't come to that conclusion on my own."

"I can agree... To some extent," you pat the bedside, inviting Shoto over. "I don't know much about her, but I do know that she comes from a rich family," you held up your hands in an elegant manner. "She has etiquette," you spoke mockingly. "She's also polite and keeps to herself so yeah! I can see why you thought she wouldn't stoop to jealousy. Jealousy is a bitch though," now you're laughing like a maniac.

"Is this how you were when you were dating my dad?" Shoto couldn't help but wonder. You're brutally honest and your vulgar language was concerning. Even on the first day you came out of the ice you were butting heads with Enji and cussing him out.

"I didn't..." You paused with a small growl. "He bossed me around, I bossed him around. It was an extremely love-hate relationship. Kinda like Bakugou and Kirishima. You and Midoriya mellowed me out and honestly I'm happy so..." Seriously, those boys had killed you with kindness.

"That's why you were so aggressive towards my dad and Kirishima at first... Right?"

"That about sums it up," you agreed. "Do you have a problem with my past self?"

"No," Shoto spoke. "I like how it's a good middle now. You're mellow, honest and fight for your beliefs."

"Thanks," your heart melted but your attention was elsewhere. "What'd you get me?" You spoke like a child. Shoto never brings his bag anywhere unless he's carrying something important.

"Oh," Shoto carefully sat his bag down upon the bed. "Shinsou said you wanted food," he opened up the bag and pulled out two bowls with plastic lids. "I checked in with the hospital, they said I could only bring in fresh food. So I brought us soba for dinner. Mine is cold, but I thought you'd prefer yours hot."

Shoto took the lid off the bowl. Some steam wafted off from the dish of brown noodles whereas a large 'puff' of steam came from when Shoto shoved a pair of chopsticks into it. "Isn't this your favorite food?" You recognize the dish very well. Shoto prefers to eat it whenever he can for lunch.

"Yes," Shoto loudly began slurping his noodles. He couldn't wait to dig in could he?

"That's sweet of you," as a child, you never liked Soba. While your mother made it often, probably five times a week, she could never afford the sauce let alone any vegetables to go with the meal. Wheat was extremely affordable back then, so your mother grew it as well as bought it in bulk. Wheat bread, noodles and many many more foods was your daily diet. Now, you're actually eating authentic soba! It had a dark sauce, sprouts, carrots and chicken too. Maybe now you'll actually enjoy the soba instead of despising it.

With the chopsticks, you pinched them together picking up a healthy amount of noodles. Your stomach was rumbling for food so you didn't hesitate to bring the food to your mouth and your mouth was filled with bliss. The first real food you've had in days that wasn't completely bland and tasted great too. Earthy yet savory. Shoto was pleased with your expressions as he had chosen the right food.

Afterwards, the two of you sat around, not like you could do anything else really. Unlike Kirishima, unless you needed the toilet or preferred to sit in the comfy chair, you weren't allowed out of bed. In fact, they put a sensor on you to make sure you didn't try anything. You've lost count of how many times you've accidentally triggered it but whenever a nurse comes stomping in you're dying of laughter. Shoto conversed with you as long as he could before you fell asleep. That being he also fell asleep as watching others sleep makes him drowsy. Wish you could've been aware of such. Even the doctor found the two of you adorable when he came in for a check up. The two of you were sound asleep with both of your heads resting against the other.

However, due to a broken curfew, Shoto got detention and couldn't visit you the following day. The day after his scheduled detention, Shoto had hero studies. Shoto definitely regrets his decision to allow his father to mentor him but of course he had to suck it up and do as told. Today, Shoto shot you a text saying that he might visit you but can't promise anything as it all depends on when he's done visiting his mother. Of course you weren't gonna argue since even boyfriends have a life of their own aside from their girlfriend.

Shoto was in a hurry today. The boy entered his mother's room, nearly throwing the door open but a firm grip on the handle kept it from doing so. Small talk wasn't on his mind, not in the slightest. Even his mother could tell at first glance that something was itching to get out. "Hey mom... I have a favor to ask," Shoto cut right to the chase.

"What is it Shoto," the woman sat forward in her seat. Shoto hasn't ever come to her for help before today. Normally he talks about his day and shares a cup of tea.

"How well can you use your quirk?" He popped the question.

"I rarely use it," she regrets to admit. "Why do you ask?"

"I've been trying to do something for a week now," Shoto held out his right hand. Ice began to collect within his palm as it grew and took the shape of a large jagged icicle with a weird large circular lump on the end. That's when Shoto sighed and showed his mother the end product. "I've been trying to make a rose... It looks horrible doesn't it?"

"It's not horrible..." She lied. Shoto's mother didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise.

"It's horrible... I know it," Shoto pushed on the subject. If anything, this atrocity looked like a poorly trimmed christmas tree with a topper larger than itself.

"Why a rose of all things?" His mother held his hand gently. She's worried beyond belief.

"(Y/n) can make amazing things with her ice quirk. I can't..." Shoto sighed. His mother then knew it must've been jealousy over the idea that his girlfriend is better than him at something. "She's in the hospital right now. I wanted to show her how much I've improved but I can't make a simple rose."

"Your girlfriend's in the hospital?" His mother's gentle smile faded. "What happened to her?"

Tension began to fill the room, "I'd prefer if I didn't say..."

"Did you hurt her?" Her voice went dark.

"Not directly," Shoto was blunt.

"Shoto..." She bellowed.

"It was a class exercise. We went to a simulator where she fought an evil clone of me and lost..." If only I got to her sooner, she wouldn't be suffering in the hospital.

Shoto's mother regrets asking for further details, "Are you okay?" Everything must be taking it's toll on him.

"For the most part," he perked up. "I'm just happy she's okay."

Such a sweet boy... "I'll help you make that rose."
