AN: I know the title's cringy.... I couldn't think of anything else😅😅😅

Jack POV
I was leaving for school when I heard my mom sigh dramatically.
"Looks like we'll have to cancel our plans Winter, the sitter just emailed me." My stepdad looked at her phone over her shoulder and sighed.
"Well Jackson I guess you're in charge tonight." Emma, mom, and I all shared pensive glances before mom gingerly pointed out,
"You do remember what happened last time we left Jack in charge don't you dear?" His eyes suddenly turned the size of golf balls as he recalled the number of fire trucks that came to our house.
"....why don't we ask that nice girl from next door to come watch Emma?" He suggested hurriedly. We all nodded and I headed to school.
(Y/N) POV
I was sitting in study when, to my greatest shock, Jack sat down across from me with a plaintive look on his face. We sat there for a minute before I went back to the book I was reading. I heard him clear his throat and he awkwardly tapped the top of my book. I lowered it and he coughed uncomfortably.
"So... Here's the thing..... My parents need someone to watch my little sister tonight and we were kinda hoping you would....?" He asked avoiding eye contact in every way possible. I blinked as I tried to translate what he had said.
"Wait... You want me to babysit your little sister?" I asked slowly trying to make sure I heard him correctly. He nodded vehemently and I scoffed.
"Look snowflake, I'm doing something you can handle perfectly well. If your parents want someone to watch her why don't they just ask you?" He gave me a serious look, which shocked me because he was almost never serious, and asked,
"Do you remember last summer when like six fire trucks showed up at our house?" I groaned slightly and rubbed my temples.
"How could I forget? You and your family stayed in our in-law suite while your house was getting repairs." He cringed at the memory.
"Well that's what happens when I'm left in charge. I'm a spirit of mischief! Responsibility and I do not get along." I stared at him in shock for a moment. How irresponsible do you have to be to cause that kind of damage?! I shook my head and gave him a stern look.
"If your parents need someone to watch her they'll just have to find someone else." I said getting up to leave. What he said next stopped me in my tracks.
"They'll pay you 20 by the hour!" I turned slowly and in the sweetest voice I could muster asked,
"When do you want me to come by?"
(Time skip)
"Now remember (Y/N) don't do anything irresponsible and if that Frost boy trys anything-" I cut my father off and finished,
"'its a swift punch to the jaw and run right over.' Dad this is why I don't have a date to the prom." He nodded proudly and patted my head before I rolled my eyes and walked next door. I got to the front door and knocked confidently. Almost immediately the door swung open to reveal Jack's parents. They looked like they were dressed for some kind of fancy restaurant or something and his mother all but dragged me inside.
"There's money for pizza on the table, our business cards are on the fridge if you need anything and her bedtimes 8." They started to rush out but then she stopped and turned around and pointed at me with a serious look etched into her features,
"Oh and whatever you do don't let Jack use the stove." And with that the two were in their car and gone leaving me a little shellshocked. I shook my head and went inside, shutting the door behind me. I walked into the living room and saw Jack and Emma bundled up like the heat wasn't working.
"What gives snowflake? You didn't tell me there was a dress code for this." Emma laughed and ran over to me.
"We're going ice skating on the pond out back!" She yelled grinning brightly. I looked up at Jack who was rubbing the back of his neck and shot him questioning look.
"Sorry... She gave me the puppy dog eyes I couldn't say no." I laughed and bent down so that I could look Emma in the eye.
"Well I'll be right back then to grab a warmer coat." Jack shook his head and told me,
"You can just use my mom's, she won't mind." Before I could protest he'd already gone and grabbed a thick woolen coat and tossed it to me. I put it on and was shocked by how warm it was. Jack clapped and said,
"Well since we're all ready let's go!" I laughed and shook my head. He's such a kid. We got to the pond and I stopped dead in my tracks. Shit! This is bad.... This is really bad... I thought as I, way too late remembered a very important detail.
"You know what guys, I'm just gonna watch from this rock, ok?" I sat down on a rock just by the edge of the pond. Jack ran up to me grinning and said,
"Oh come on! It's safe I promise, besides where's your sense of adventure?" I found myself laughing at his childlike enthusiasm.
"I can't, I don't have any skates." I said holding my arms up in mock surrender. His grin, somehow miraculously, widened even further. He held up a white pair of skates and nodded to them.
"I thought you might say that, we always have a spare for my cousins." He said his grin never faltering. Damn! He is really well prepared. I thought growling slightly.
"S-still... I mean are we even sure it's safe to do this? I mean it is April after all." I said cursing myself for that stutter. His grin turned to a smirk and he asked,
"Hang on a second, are you scared of going ice skating?" I glared at him as he laughed.
"No! I'm not scared of going I...just can't skate..." I trailed off expecting him to laugh again but instead he just said,
"It's easy, I'll teach you." I tried to argue but I was met by the most powerful weapon known to mankind: puppy dog eyes. Looking at Jack Frost's puppy dog eyes was like being hit in the face with a bag of cute. Once I'd caved, which took the grand sum total of two seconds, he helped me with the skates and lead me out onto the ice. Naturally the second I got out there I started to fall but he caught me by the shoulders.
"Ok here goes," he started his grin never leaving his face. "You know how to sprint right? Taking long strides and all that?" I nodded staring nervously at my feet. I started to wobble again and I could feel myself starting to panic.
"Hey, hey look at me ok?" He said gripping my hands. I looked up at him and he continued,
"It's just like learning how to do that, you start with small steps then you work your way up." I took his advice and tried taking small, gliding steps forward. As my strides got longer he moved further away from me: first to arm's length, then moving to my side, then finally he let go.
"Hey! I'm not dead!" I yelled feeling rather proud of myself. Jack and Emma laughed and I stuck my tongue out at them. Once it was time to get back and we were walking back towards there house I tapped Jack on the arm.
"Thanks for teaching me how to skate snowflake." I grinned and to both of our utter dismay, I pecked his cheek before running to catch up with Emma.
