Jack POV
I sighed as I walked into the student council meeting but froze completely when I heard an all too familiar voice.
"Is it always so freaking cold in this room?" My head snapped up to see (L/N) standing next to Tooth rubbing her arms. Oh no... No, no, no, no, no! I paled dramatically and turned to leave when a burly hand clapped over my shoulder.
"Oh geez." I squeaked as I looked up to see Vice Principal North, the teacher advisor, glaring down at me.
"Leaving party so soon?" He asked in his thick Russian accent. I shook my head hurriedly and laughed nervously.
"N-no sir, I just remembered that I promised to help Phil paint the mural at the back of the school blue! So if you'll excuse me..." I tried to walk off but was pulled back, turned around and forced into a chair.
"It can wait, we need to talk, where is Sandy and bunny? They know how important this-" Mr North broke off as his eyes landed on (L/N) who was now frozen in what appeared to be a mix of fear, wonder, and shock. He looked between her, Tooth, and me before gruffly asking,
"Who is this? She's not a guardian, I would know this, why is she here?" Then turning to glare at me, "Jack what did you do?" I shot Tooth a pleading look and she stepped up to introduce her friend while I sunk into my seat. (L/N) seemed to have recovered from her shock as she held her hand out for him to shake. Nope wrong choice. I thought deadpanning, Tooth and I shared a look as he laughed boisterously and gripped her by the shoulders before pulling the poor girl into a bone crushing hug. About this time Sandy and the kangaroo showed up so all of us winced as we heard the painfully familiar CRUNCH of an infamous North bear, or as we tend to call it yeti, hug.
"There go my ribs...." (L/N) weezed before North lowered her gently.
"Sorry, I get excited." North apologized laughing. She excused herself to get an ice pack from the nurse and wobbly made her way out of the room. Bunny and Sandy sat down and North shot us all a ferocious glare.
"We all know of the big game coming up yes?" He asked menace dripping from each word. And there it is, the infamous Vice Principal North mood swing. I thought suppressing a sigh as we all nodded.
"Well this year things are a bit different, Midnight High's old principal, Pitch Black just got released from prison and he's back. So now the stakes are higher, him and Principal Moon have a say... Running bet, every year depending on who wins this game the other school's principal has to transfer top student to the other school." My jaw dropped as I looked around at the others in the room. Sandy had a traumatized look while the others stared solemnly at the table.
"I'm sorry am I the only one questioning the legality of this 'bet'?!" I asked slamming my hands on the table as I stood up suddenly. North shot me a warning look and I sunk back into my seat.
"The superintendent approved it so we can't question it Jack." My eyes widened hearing this.
"Are you kidding me?! Why would anyone approve something like that?!" I asked nonplussed. North just shook his head unable to respond. I scoffed and asked,
"Ok so who's the top student?" Tooth, Sandy and Bunny shared an uncertain look and there was a sudden heavy silence that filled the room. Finally Tooth looked at me warily and gingerly said,
"Jack... The top student is.... Well it's Jamie."
