20. The Last Day

"Tonight is a full moon, we should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse" Elijah informed, Elena, Aria, Stefan and Damon.

"Aria told me that the sun and moon curse is fake" Damon said, "It's really a curse placed on Klaus?".

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline" Elijah replied, "The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting, but if he breaks it, he'll be a true hybrid".

"Since Aria tells you everything, I'm going to assume she also told you that she was the one who told Klaus how to break the curse?" Elena snapped, making Aria roll her eyes, she was getting really annoyed with Elena's crap.

"For a matter of face Elena, she did" Damon snapped back, just like Aria, Damon was on his last leg with the doppelganger.

"If we know how dangerous Klaus will become after breaking the curse, then why are we letting him break the curse?" Stefan asked, interrupting the argument between the trio, "We can kill him today, with Bonnie".

"No one's killing anyone Stefan" Damon snapped.

"Have you lost it Stefan?" Aria asked, looking at Stefan in shock, the Stefan she knew would never sacrifice anyone's life, "You know if Bonnie uses that much power, she will die".

"Aria's right Stefan" Elena said, "It's not an option".

"How does this curse break anyways?" Damon asked curiously.

"Well the ritual itself is straightforward" Elijah said, "The ingredients, so to speak, you already know".

"The moonstone" Stefan said.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon, to release the spell that's bound within the stone, after that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire will sacrifice one of each" Elijah explained.

"And where do me and Aria fit into it?" Elena asked.

"Throughout the whole ritual, the witch doing the spell, needs to be channeling a Connor witch" Elijah said, "And you Elena, are the final part of the ritual, Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger, to the point of your death".

Elena looked at Elijah, fear shown clearly on her face, Stefan quickly grabbed her hand in a reassuring manner.

Damon and Aria looked at each other, though both of them knew Aria wasn't going to die in the ritual, there was a slight fear in both their hearts of losing each other.

"Did you bring it?" Damon asked Elijah.

Elijah nodded, he opened a wooden box and pulled out two elixirs, he picked one of the bottles and handed it to Damon, "This is the elixir Kol made for Ariana, she needs to drink this right before the ritual".

"Your hundred percent certain this would work, right?" Damon asked, really not wanting to risk Aria's life on a maybe.

"If there was even the slightest doubt that Ariana wouldn't survive this, Klaus himself wouldn't use her" Elijah said, "Rest assure Damon, Aria would be dead, then this elixir would bring her back".

Aria laced her fingers with Damon's, she knew he was scared of losing her, she was scared to, but their love story had just started, it wasn't going to end this soon.

Damon looked at Aria and brought her hand over to his mouth and dropped a light kiss on it, Damon wasn't going to lose Aria, not now, not ever.

"Is the other one for me?" Elena asked, interrupting Damon and Aria's moment.

Elijah nodded, "This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina" Elijah explained, "It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation".

"So I'll be dead?" Elena asked confused.

"And then you won't" Elijah replied.

"That's the plan?" Stefan asked shocked, "You've had these elixirs for centuries, how are you so sure they haven't expired or something? You both wanna come back to life, how about the Gilbert rings?".

"Stefan, I'm a witch" Aria reminded, "I'm supernatural, the ring won't work on me".

"And a doppelganger is a supernatural occurrence" Elijah said, "Odds are the ring won't work".

"Elena, Aria, what if these elixirs, don't work?" Stefan asked frustrated.

"Stefan, it will work" Aria replied, "It has to".

Stefan looked towards Damon, hoping he would say something, but he just shrugged, annoyed by everyone, Stefan got up from his seat and left the room.

Elena sighed, "Do we know if Klaus has everything he needs to do this?" Elena asked, "Does he have a werewolf?".

"Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for over 1000 years" Elijah replied, "If he doesn't already have a werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will".

Aria sighed, she turned to Damon, "I'm going to go get my phone from your room and call Caroline, she was supposed to be here but she's not, so I'm going to check up on her, I'm slightly worried".

Damon nodded, and after giving Elijah a small smile, Aria went upstairs to Damon's room, leaving Damon, Elijah and Elena by themselves.

"You really love her, don't you?" Elijah asked Damon, both men ignoring the doppelganger in the room.

"You have no idea" Damon whispered, "At times, it amazes me how much hold that girl has on me".

"You're good for each other" Elijah said, "You are the reason as to why she hasn't lost control of her magic yet, and she's the reason as to why you're still in touch with your humanity".

"I don't know if I'm the one whose keeping her sane, I do know that she's the best part of me, and if I lose her, I will lose my mind" Damon admitted.

"You won't" Elijah assured, "None of us will, not this time".

Before Damon could say anything else, the two vampires heard the front door slam.

"Get out!" Jenna yelled.

Elijah and Damon exchanged a look and walked over to the commotion, with Elena following closely behind.

The trio entered the scene to see a frightened Jenna, holding up a crossbow to Alaric.

"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay?" Alaric asked, slightly scared of Jenna, "It's me".

"Stay away from me" Jenna warned.

"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay" Alaric pleaded, "He let me go, Klaus let me go".

"Prove it" Damon said, very apprehensive of the men infront of him.

"Okay, uh, the first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in--".

"Okay, it's him" Jenna interrupted, not wanting everyone to know the story.

"Why did he let you go?" Damon asked.

"He wanted me to deliver a message" Alaric replied, "Sacrifice happens tonight".

"Hey Care, it's me again, calling you for the fifth time" Aria said, into her phone, "I'm getting worried, you were supposed to be here two hours ago, you said we were supposed to spend the day together, please call me or Damon, just please be okay".

Aria hanged up and slumped down on Damon's bed, she was getting really worried for her best friend, Aria was so close to going to the Forbes's house and grabbing something of Caroline's to do a locater spell, if Caroline didn't call her in half an hour, Aria will do exactly that.

"Caroline still not answering?".

Aria looked up and saw Stefan enter the room, "Nope".

Stefan nodded, he paused and looked at Aria, "Why are you doing this Aria?".

"Doing what?" Aria asked confused.

"Why are you so willing to sacrifice yourself for Klaus?" Stefan asked.

Aria sighed, she already knew this conversation wasn't going to end well, "Stefan, even if I tell you, I don't think you will understand".

"You haven't even tried to explain it to me Aria" Stefan snapped.

"I haven't tired?" Aria asked shocked, "Stefan, I told you how I feel about Elijah, yet you went ahead and daggered him, so I'm sorry if I think telling you anything is useless, because you've already made up your opinion about the Originals, no matter what I say or do, your always going to think they are the villains".

"Klaus is using the girl I love in a sacrifice" Stefan snapped, "I'm sorry if I think his the villain Aria".

"Elena is going to come back Stefan, both of us are" Aria said, "We're going to drink the elixir, Klaus is going to break his curse, and all this will be over".

"If it works" Stefan snapped.

"It will work" Aria retorted.

"Why? Because Kol made it?" Stefan asked angry, "Do I need to remind you that it was made a thousand years ago? Aria, why am I the only one who's convinced it won't work? There has to be another way".

"There is no other way" Aria snapped, "Kol always wanted me to stay safe, and his not here right to say this to you, so I'm going to say it on his behalf, Kol would never risk my life, if he wasn't sure this elixir would work, then he would have never told Klaus and Elijah about it in the first place".

"You're gonna die Aria" Stefan said, refusing to believe that Kol's elixir would work.

"And then I'll come back to life using Kol's elixir" Aria said, refusing to back down.

"That is not a risk I'm willing to take" Stefan said.

"This isn't your choice to make Stefan, it's mine" Aria said, "My life, my choice".

"I'm not going to lose you Aria" Stefan whispered.

"You won't" Aria said, "You just need to trust me, I know what I'm doing, I always wanted to live Stefan, I want to live with Damon, him and me are supposed have our happing ending, do you really think I would do something to jeopardise that?".

Stefan paused and stared at Aria for a moment, "I'm sorry" Stefan whispered.

"What?" Aria asked confused.

Before Aria could realise what was happening, Stefan had bit into his wrist and forced Aria to drink his blood, Aria struggled in Stefan's grip and tired to get out of it but failed. 

 Suddenly, Stefan was thrown off of Aria and on to the floor, causing Aria to fall to the floor,

"What the hell did you do Stefan?!" Damon yelled, fury shown clearly in his eyes, while Elijah helped a hysterical Aria stand up.

"I saved her life" Stefan snapped, "Something you weren't doing".

"Kol's elixir was guaranteed to bring her back Stefan!" Damon yelled, "But now she's going to come back as a vampire!".

"It's better then nothing" Stefan whispered.

"First me and now Aria!" Damon yelled, "First you took away my choice and now you took Aria's choice away! How could you of all people do that to her?!".

Stefan looked at a hysterical Aria, who was hugging Elijah and crying, this was the last thing she excepted from Stefan, "You can wish me a eternity of misery like your boyfriend Aria, but at the end of the day, I saved your life and not him".

Damon glared at Stefan and pushed him, causing him to smash into a wall, Damon speeded over to him and repeatedly started punching him, he then grabbed the stick from the lamp near him and stabbed Stefan in the stomach.

"What the hell is going on?" Alaric asked shocked, him, Jenna and Elena entering the room and seeing the scene infront of him.

"Stefan!" Elena yelled, shocked seeing her boyfriend on the floor with a wooden stick through his stomach.

Seeing Elena, all Damon could see was red, her boyfriend took away the choice from Aria, so how was it fair that Elena got a choice?

Damon bit into his wrist and speeded towards Elena and forced his blood down her throat.

"Damon no!" Aria yelled, trying to run towards Damon and Elena, but Elijah held her back.

"Don't stop him" Elijah whispered, "It's what they deserve".

Damon let go of Elena and turned to Stefan, "If Aria doesn't get the choice, then neither does Elena".

Without listening to anyone else, Damon took Aria from Elijah, and after picking her up in his arms, speeded them away.

Damon sat Aria down on the couch, he grabbed a glass of water and handed it to Aria, "Drink this Aria, it will remove the taste of blood from your mouth".

"I can't believe he did this" Aria whispered, her hands shaking from how shaken she was.

Damon sighed, he put the glass of water down, and sat next to Aria and grabbed her shaking hands.

"God, I'm so sorry Ria" Damon whispered, "I shouldn't have left you alone, I'm so sorry".

"Don't" Aria whispered, "Don't blame yourself Damon, this wasn't your fault, I just--I thought he was my friend, how could he do this to me?".

"Shh" Damon said, hugging Aria as she begun to sob, "It's going to be okay, I'm right here".

"I know this was going to happen one day, but I didn't think it was going to happen this soon" Aria whispered, "I'm not ready to lose my magic yet".

Damon broke the hug and looked at Aria in confusion, "What do you mean it was going to happen one day?".

"Damon, your a vampire, I'm a witch" Aria said, "One day, we both had to talk about this, you don't age, I do, remember when we were in Georgia and met Lexi's boyfriend, he told us that if you want to be with someone forever, you need to live forever".

"You were going to turn into a vampire for me?" Damon asked shocked.

Aria nodded, "Not now obviously, I had this plan, to ask you to turn me after I finish collage, I love magic but I love you more, our love is the forever kind of love, I would gladly turn into a vampire to be with you, but--".

"But you didn't think it would be so soon" Damon interrupted, his heart about to explode from seeing how much Aria loves. 

"No, I didn't" Aria whispered.

Damon kissed Aria's forehead, "I love you, and I know this wasn't in your plan, but don't worry, I will be there with you every step of the process".

"Promise to not let me kill anyone?" Aria asked, her biggest fear when it came to being a vampire.

"I promise" Damon whispered, hugging Aria.

"This is where you want to spend your last day as a witch?" Damon asked shocked.

"Yes" Aria replied, "I want to get drunk at the Grill, am I allowed to do that?".

Damon sighed, "You are one weird person witchy".

"Today is the last day you get to call me that" Aria teased, slightly nudging Damon.

Damon knew though Aria was using humor right now, from the inside she was slowly breaking, the thought of losing her magic before even reaching her full potential hurt her way more then she was letting on.

"Let's just go to the bar" Damon said, taking Aria's hand and walking towards the bar.

Damon and Aria reached the bar and Damon ordered two bourbons.

"Did you know before meeting you, I used to hate bourbon" Aria said.

Damon looked at Aria in confusion, "With the amount you drink, I thought you've been drinking since the day you were born".

"Hey!" Aria said, slapping Damon's shoulder, making him chuckle, "You, Mr. Salvatore, turned me into a alcoholic, I used to hate alcohol before I met you".

"Here's to good bad influencers" Damon said, lifting his drink up.

"Cheers" Aria said, clinking her drink with Damon's and downing her drink in one, Damon doing the same.

"Ari".

Damon and Aria turned to the side to see a blonde hair guy looking at Aria in a mixture of shock and admiration.

Seeing Aria's shocked face, Damon immediately knew who the guy was.

"Klaus, I presume" Damon said.

"In the flesh" Klaus replied.

"Any reason you stopped by to say hi?" Damon asked, standing up and facing Klaus, "Me and my girl are trying to have a peaceful day before you use her in a sacrifice".

Aria shook her head and realised if she didn't do anything, then Damon and Klaus's male ego would cause major drama, so she went and stood between the two.

"I'm here to borrow Ari" Klaus replied, looking at Aria with a small smile on her face.

"Me?" Aria asked confused, "The sacrifice is at night, why do you want me now?".

"Speaking of the sacrifice, I don't suppose I could talk you into postponement by any chance, huh?" Damon asked.

"You are kidding" Klaus said, he turned to Aria, "He's kidding, right?".

"Yes" Aria replied quickly, "He's kidding".

"Ria--".

"Damon, you're kidding" Aria said, turning to face the older Salvatore.

Damon sighed, he knew why Aria refused to let Klaus know she had vampire blood in her, Aria had told Damon how much Klaus and Ariana cared for each other, it was never romantic though, it was a sibling type of relationship, in the past life, Klaus and Ariana would die for each other, and if Klaus found out about Aria having vampire blood in her system he would postpone the sacrifice and Aria can't do that to him, he had waited a thousand years for this, and Aria didn't want him to wait any longer, having a part of you locked away can never be easy.

"Let me be clear" Klaus said, breaking Damon's chain of thoughts, "I have my vampire, I have my werewolf, I have everything I need".

"Whose your vampire and werewolf?" Aria asked suddenly, for some reason, something felt seriously wrong.

"What?" Klaus asked confused.

"Whose your vampire and werewolf Klaus?" Aria repeated.

"Some kids called Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood" Klaus informed, shocking both Damon and Aria, "Katerina had them ready for the sacrifice".

"No, no, no" Aria said, "Klaus, you can't use them in the sacrifice, please you can't".

"Why not?" Klaus asked confused.

"Caroline is my best friend, she's basically my sister, I can't let you kill her and Tyler, his also a friend of mine" Aria rambled, the thought of something happening to Caroline scared Aria, she doesn't know what she will do without her.

"Ari--".

"No please Nik" Aria said, "I can't lose anyone else I care about, please don't take my best friend from me, please".

"Okay, okay" Klaus said, realising Aria was about to have a break down, "Here's the deal, I won't use anyone you care about in the sacrifice, I will tell your boyfriend where the vampire and werewolf are, my only condition, stay with me till the sacrifice, we have a lot to talk about".

Aria looked towards Damon, who nodded at Aria, letting her know to accept the condition, Damon knew Klaus had waited centuries for his best friend to return, they deserved some time together, and Damon needed to save his blonde frenemy.

Aria sighed and turned to Aria, "We have a deal".

Klaus smiled, "Excellent".

After giving Damon, Caroline and Tyler's location, Klaus took Aria to the town square.

"You know, you called me Nik back there" Klaus said.

"I did?" Aria asked shocked, she didn't even realise she had said that.

"Yeah" Klaus whispered, a small smile forming on his face.

"I'm sorry, I didn't even realise I had said it" Aria said, thinking she had offended Klaus.

"Don't be" Klaus said, "I didn't mind, it bought back memories, happy memories".

"Of us?" Aria asked.

"Of me, you and Kol" Klaus replied.

"Are you and Kol close?" Aria asked curiously.

Klaus sighed, "We used to be, when you were with us, me and Kol were inseparable, but then you died, and everything fell apart".

"What do you mean?" Aria asked confused.

"Me and Kol both kind of relied on you, when we turned into vampires we both turned to you, we knew you were the only one who could make sure we kept in touch with our human side, and that's exactly what you did, when we were human, when our parents got too much for us, both me and Kol used to come to you, and whenever we came to you, you helped us be brothers" Klaus explained, "But then you died, the one thing that helped us be brothers was gone, me and Kol were devastated and instead being there for each other with fell apart, I guess being near each other, we remembered you, and remembering you hurt beyond anything, so we stayed away from each other, your death broke the Mikaelsons Ari, and now that your back, the Mikaelsons can finally be a family again".

"Elijah said after daggering your family, you threw them in the bottom of the ocean, is that true?" Aria asked, the thought of never meeting the guy who because of she was standing here right now, hurt Aria more then she liked to admit.

Klaus scoffed, "Of course he told you that, but rest assured Ari, I didn't throw my family in the bottom of the ocean, I'm not that cruel, I lied to Elijah".

"Oh thank god" Aria said, a huge smile coming over her face, "I told Elijah you didn't throw you family in the ocean".

Klaus smiled at Aria, "Your belief in me always surprises me".

"Why?" Aria asked confused.

"Honestly, I don't know" Klaus admitted, "It just does".

"Some people are worth believing in" Aria whispered.

Klaus looked at Aria in shock, "You said that to me the day you told how to break my curse".

"I did?" Aria asked.

Klaus nodded, "Yeah, you did".

"Well, it's the truth" Aria whispered, "I know everyone sees you as the bad guy, but if you couldn't tell, I don't listen to people's opinion, I make my own, I don't remember you, but I have some memories of you and with the little I have, I know you and your family mean a lot to me, and if I start listening to people's opinion, I wouldn't be in love with the guy I love, basically what I'm trying to say is, with or without memories, you, Elijah and Kol, are people who I believe in, no matter what anyone says".

"It's so weird" Klaus said, "You have not changed one bit, you're exactly the same".

Aria smiled, "I don't really know how I was back when you were human, but when I was little, my Mom once told me that people aren't born evil, the world around them makes them evil, and yeah they are people in this world who don't deserve a chance, but they are others who do, so I'm just following my Mom's words, I'm giving you a chance".

"And I promise not to let you down" Klaus promised.

"And I believe you" Aria said, smiling at Klaus.

Okay, next chapter is the sacrifice, but before that I have some questions for you, in the show Jenna dies, but here I don't think Klaus will kill Jenna because she is someone Aria cares for, what would you guys want be to do, kill Jenna or not? But just remember, if I don't kill Jenna, she will probably leave Mystic Falls because I don't know how to fit her in the storyline.

ALSOOO, a lot of people were commenting that Kol and Aria need to have something, in season 3 and 4 I have a lot planned for these two but, at the end it's going always going to be Damon, but I was wondering, if people want Kol and Aria to be together would you guys want me to write a alternative book, that will start on season four but instead of Aria and Damon, Aria and Kol will be endgame, alsooo, maybe instead of Hayley having Klaus's kid somehow Caroline does, I will work on how, but with that both the girls move to New Orleans with the Mikaelsons, cause obviously they won't leave each other.

Would you guys like that or not?
