06. Plan B

Aria slowly opened her eyes and was immediately met with a sleeping Damon, Aria paused and took this time to admire the guy she has learned to love so much, while sleeping Damon looked so peaceful, something she hasn't seen for a while.

Last night, Damon had stayed up with Aria, he had stayed and patiently listened to Aria as she explained her dream about Ariana and her mystery lover, after listening to Aria, Damon came to the conclusion that the guy Ariana loved, his mother was a evil witch, who wanted to separate Ariana and the mystery boy, they also came to the conclusion that she might have been the one who ended up killing Ariana.

Aria lifted her finger and started tracing Damon's facial features, at times she wondered how did she manage to get someone who loves her so much, someone who she loves so much.

"What are you doing?" Damon asked, when he felt Aria's finger on his face, his voice full of sleep.

"Admiring" Aria admitted, not even trying to hide the fact that she was staring at a sleeping Damon.

Damon finally opened his eyes and turned to look at Aria, "Why are you up so early?".

"I don't know" Aria said, "But I can't say I'm complaining, me waking up this early, means I got to see you sleep so peacefully, it was a treat".

"Was it now?" Damon asked, his voice full of mischief.

Aria nodded, a small forming on her face, "It was".

Damon smirked, he suddenly came on top of Aria and smashed his lips on to her's, slightly catching Aria off guard, but nonetheless Aria responded with equal passion.

Damon finally broke the kiss and admired Aria, "You know, I could get used to you waking up in my bed every morning".

Aria smiled, "So can I".

Damon smiled and once again got down and captured Aria's lips.

"Mmm" Aria said, as Damon started kissing down her collarbone, "Damon, I need to go shower, I'm late, I'm supposed to be decorating at the Lockwood's charity thing".

Damon groaned, "Do you have to?".

"Yes I do, and so do you" Aria reminded.

Damon sighed, "I know, I know, but Aria promise me one thing, you're going to stay away from Mason Lockwood".

"Why?" Aria asked confused.

"Caroline told me how he was going to snap your neck, something you forget to mention to me" Damon said, making Aria look at her sheepishly.

"I never got the chance" Aria defended.

"Yeah, yeah, just promise me, you won't go near Mason without me near you" Damon said.

"I promise" Aria said, smiling at Damon's protectiveness.

Damon opened the front door when he heard someone knock, opening it, he got confused seeing Jeremy on the other side.

"I need to talk to you" Jeremy said, getting straight to the point.

"And when I need to talk to you--", Damon went to slam the door on Jeremy's face, but Jeremy stopped him.

"Tyler Lockwood has to kill someone to activate his curse, he's not a werewolf yet" Jeremy informed.

"Wow, fascinating, not enough" Damon snapped, going to shut the door again, but once again Jeremy stopped him.

"But Mason Lockwood is, and he's looking for a moonstone, a special rock connected to the werewolf legend, that's why he's here".

"A moonstone?" Damon asked, suddenly intrigued.

"And I know where it is" Jeremy informed, a smug smile on his face.

"And you're bringing me this, why?" Damon asked.

"Do I need a reason? Look, I just wanna help, okay?" Jeremy said.

"I know Aria has no idea about this, but tell me, what'd your sister say about this little discovery?" Damon asked, Jeremy looked at Damon uncomfortably, "Oh, you haven't told her, have you?".

"Elena doesn't want me getting involved in all this" Jeremy defended, trying to step in but Damon pushed him away.

"And you're a Gilbert, you just can't help yourself" Damon said, Jeremy nodded, "Wow, your search for life's purpose is as obvious as it is tragic".

"Are you gonna let me in or not?" Jeremy asked.

Damon stepped aside and let Jeremy in, just as Aria walked downstairs, who got confused seeing Jeremy here.

"Jer, what are you doing here?" Aria asked confused.

Damon and Jeremy exchanged a look, both knowing Aria isn't going to be happy after finding out why Jeremy was here.

Alaric entered the Boarding House with a box in his hand.

"Ric" Damon greeted.

Alaric put the box down and looked at Jeremy in confusion.

"What are you doing here?" Alaric asked Jeremy.

"Getting himself into dangerous situations, you know the usual Gilbert thing" Aria said, glaring at Jeremy.

"I'm actually helping Damon, I'm the one who found out about the moonstone" Jeremy said, ignoring Aria.

Alaric looked at Damon, who just shrugged, "Does Elena know you're here?".

"If she knew, he wouldn't be here" Aria replied.

Damon walked over to the box Alaric had brought with him, "What do you got?".

"This is Isobel's research from Duke, her assistant sent it to me" Alaric informed.

"Vanessa?" Aria asked.

"Yeah, Vanessa" Alaric said, "Now do you remember the Aztec curse she told us about?".

"The sun and moon one" Aria answered.

"The Aztec curse, cool" Jeremy said, fascinated.

"Yes supposedly, vampires and werewolves used to roam freely, until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power" Alaric explained, "Since then, uh, werewolves can only turn on a full moon, and vampires are weakened by the sun".

"Well, some of them at least" Aria said, pointing to Damon's daylight ring.

"According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse, it's sealed with the moonstone" Alaric said, showing Jeremy a old Aztec drawing.

"What do you mean, sealed?" Jeremy asked, looking at the drawing in fascination.

"It's a witch thing" Damon replied.

"Whatever thing seals the curse, that's the only thing that will be able to unseal the curse" Aria explained.

"Maybe Mason Lockwood believes he can use the moonstone to break the curse" Alaric suggested.

"Maybe" Aria said.

"If we start believing in some supernatural witchy woo legend, from a picture book, we're idiots" Damon said, "Who has the stone now?".

"Tyler" Jeremy replied.

"Can you get it?" Damon asked.

"Yeah".

"See? Now your life has purpose" Damon mocked.

Aria sighed, she knew no matter what she says, Jeremy isn't going to let this one go, "Jer, just be careful, if you get hurt then I'm not facing Elena's anger".

"Don't worry Aria, I will be careful" Jeremy assured, he then turned to Damon, "So you believe this curse is real?".

"It's the same book that says a werewolf bite kills a vampire" Damon said, "Ignoring it would make me an even bigger idiot, let's go".

Damon grabbed Aria's hand, and the group proceeded to go to the Lockwood's charity preparation thing.

Mason carried a box outside, where Stefan was, seeing Stefan alive and well, shocked Mason.

"Hey, Stefan" Mason greeted, trying to hide his shock,

"Hey, Mason" Stefan said.

"Wasn't expecting you here" Mason said, "Or anywhere".

"Yeah, I had this little accident" Stefan said, "But, uh, I'm fine now".

Mason walked over to Stefan, "What did you do to Sheriff Forbes?".

"Oh, she's fine too" Stefan replied, "But from now on, you'll have to do your own dirty work".

"Not a problem" Mason replied, walking away from Stefan.

While walking away, Mason bumped into Aria, who was coming to talk to Stefan, as soon as she bumped into Mason, pictures started coming infront of Aria's eyes.

Stefan frowned seeing Aria go into a trance, he walked up to her and lightly shook her, breaking her trance.

"Aria, what's the matter? You okay?" Stefan asked, worried for his friend.

"The weirdest thing just happened" Aria said, shaking her head, trying to get rid of the picture.

"What?" Stefan asked.

"When Mason bumped into me, I saw something" Aria revealed.

"What do you mean, like a vision?" Stefan asked.

"Stefan, I saw Elena with Mason" Aria said, confused with her own vision.

"Elena?" Stefan asked, equally as shocked as Aria.

"They were kissing each other" Aria said, not knowing why Elena will be kissing Mason Lockwood.

"No, Aria, Elena wouldn't kiss--", suddenly realisation drew on both Stefan and Aria.

"Oh my god" Aria said, realising who she saw in her vision.

"You didn't see Elena" Stefan started.

"I saw Katherine" Aria finished, looking at Stefan in shock.

"Katherine's with Mason Lockwood?" Damon asked shocked, as Aria told him about her vision.

"We missed it, he got into town right after she did, it makes perfect sense" Stefan replied.

"I know, but Mason Lockwood?" Damon asked, having trouble digesting the fact that Katherine would go for a werewolf, "Werewolf thing aside, the guy's a surfer".

"Maybe she's using him" Aria interjected.

"Using him for what?" Stefan asked.

"No Aria's right" Damon said, "Mason Lockwood's looking for a moonstone, that allegedly can break the full moon werewolf curse, maybe Katherine wants it as well".

"But the question is, why does Katherine want a thing that's related to werewolves?" Aria asked confused.

"Well--No idea, that's the beauty of Katherine" Damon said, "She's always up to something".

"So how are we gonna find this moonstone?" Stefan asked.

"Already found it" Aria replied, confusing Stefan.

"What?".

"Jeremy's getting it from Tyler" Damon clarified.

"Why would you both involve Jeremy?" Stefan asked, walking away from the couple.

"He's playing Indiana Jones, he involved himself" Damon defended.

"Aria, since you're the one that linked Mason with Katherine, we finally have an opportunity to get an upper hand on them, will you help us?" Stefan asked.

"Is that even a question?" Aria asked, "Of course I will help you, just tell me what I have to do".

Before Stefan could say anything, his phone started ringing, looking down Stefan realised it was Elena calling him, "I have to fill Elena in on what's going on, Damon tell Aria the plan"

"Touch Mason Lockwood again, see if he gave Katherine the moonstone" Damon said, after Stefan had walked away.

"Damon, my visions don't work like that" Aria said, "I don't get to ask questions or choose what I see".

"How inconvenient" Damon said, "Although, let's talk about the witchy juju thing Bonnie does with me, you know the fun one where my brain bursts into flames, what is that?".

"That's Bonnie giving you an aneurism" Aria explained, "The blood vessels in your brain pop, but since you heal quickly, Bonnie does it over and over again".

"Is it vampire specific?" Damon asked.

"No" Aria replied, "It will work on anyone who heals fairly quickly".

"Good, good, good" Damon said, a plan forming in his head, only problem was the plan required Aria to go near Mason, something Damon wasn't comfortable with.

"You want me to give Mason a aneurism?" Aria asked, "Because I would gladly do it".

Damon sighed, "I know you will Ria, but letting you go near Mason Lockwood just doesn't sit right with me".

Aria smiled at Damon's worry, "Damon, you know I can take care of myself, and if Mason tries anything funny you and Stefan will be near me to take care of him".

Damon nodded, still a bit apprehensive, he cupped Aria's face in his hands, "Promise me, if Mason tries anything funny, you will get out of there straight away".

"I promise" Aria said.

Stefan walked back over to Damon and Aria only to see both of them gazing into each other eyes, Stefan coughed, breaking Aria and Damon's trance.

"So what's the plan?" Stefan asked.

"Hey, can you move your van? Blocked in" Mason said, coming outside.

Mason's eyes landed on Aria, who was trying to get out a pretty heavy table from the truck, Mason hesitated for a second, knowing Aria wasn't a huge fan of him, but after a moment, decided to help her before she ended up hurting herself.

"Hey, how'd you get stuck doing that by yourself?" Mason asked, running over to Aria.

"Everyone bailed on me, have no idea where they went" Aria said, struggling to hold the table.

"Here, let me give you a hand" Mason said, grabbing the table from Aria's grip.

After making sure no one was looking, Aria focused on Mason and suddenly, he clutched his head and started groaning in pain, Aria didn't stop until Mason was on his knees, after which Damon came and knocked him out.

Damon ran over to Mason's truck and opened the door and gestured Aria to sit, while Damon and Stefan dragged Mason's body into the truck's boot.

Aria placed Mason's bag on a nearby chair, while Damon carried an unconscious Mason on his shoulder and put him down on the other chair.

"Here, grab that corner" Damon said, pointing to the sheet under Mason.

"What's this for again?" Aria asked confused.

"Because I don't wanna stain the carpet" Damon replied.

Despite the situation, Aria couldn't help but laugh at Damon's explanation.

"Of course" Aria said, helping Damon spread the sheet out, "You realise his not gonna be out much longer".

"Whoa" Damon said, opening Mason's bag and finding bunch of chains, "Looks like this guy's used to being tied up".

Aria grabbed Mason's head and closed her eyes.

"What are you doing Ria?" Damon asked confused.

"Trying to help" Aria replied simply.

"Oh, good, yeah, find out if he gave the moonstone to Katherine, find out where she is" Damon said, tying Mason up, "And find out what they're gonna do with it once they get it".

Aria closed her eyes and concentrated, "It's in a small dark place, there's water".

"Like a sewer?" Damon asked.

"No, like a well?" Aria said confused, not sure if what she was seeing was right, "That's not right, wait no, it is a well".

"Why would it be in a well?" Damon asked confused.

Aria opened her eyes, "I don't know, I only get what I get".

Suddenly Mason grabbed Aria's hand, causing her to gasp in shock, Damon quickly separated Aria from Mason.

"Don't you dare touch her" Damon snapped, punching Mason, causing him to wake up.

After calling Stefan and informing him about the moonstone's location, Aria made her way back into the living room where she saw Damon warming up a poker in the fireplace, while Mason tried to get free of the chains.

"Ooh" Damon said, turning to Mason, "Someone's feisty".

Mason glared at Damon and kept trying to free himself, causing his chair to fall backwards, Damon walked over to him, "What?!" Mason yelled.

Damon didn't say anything just placed the hot poker in Mason's chest, as Mason yelled in pain, Aria looked away, though she refused to leave, doesn't mean the torture didn't gross her out.

"You can hurt, good to know" Damon said, removing the poker, "I was afraid you were gonna be some Beastmaster with no affinity for pain", Damon bent down to look at Mason's wound, which was already healing, "Oh, but you heal quickly, not good, guess I'll just have to keep applying pain", Damon looked at Aria, "You should leave, this is not going to be pretty".

Aria shook her head, "I'm not leaving".

Damon shrugged, "Suit yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you", Damon pulled Mason's chair up again and made his way back to the fireplace to warm the poker again, "So Katherine, how do you know her? What's she up to?".

Mason stayed quiet, just glared at Damon and spat on the floor, making Aria shake her head at his stubbornness, he knew Damon could kill him in a second yet he decided to stay quiet.

"We have all day" Damon said, shoving the hot poker into Mason's stomach, making him yell in pain.

"When did you and Katherine meet?" Aria asked, as Damon went back to the fireplace.

"She seduce you and tell you she loved you? You're supernatural, so she can't compel you, I'm sure she used her other charms" Damon said, just as Jeremy walked in, "Katherine's good that way, though they never worked on me"

"Jer, what are you doing here?" Aria asked confused.

"Thought I told you to leave" Damon said.

"I found something in, uh, Ric's box of stuff" Jeremy explained.

"What?" Aria asked, walking over to Jeremy.

"Um, I did a search on my phone, it's a plant, aconitum vulparia" Jeremy replied, "Grows in the, uh, mountainous areas of the northern hemisphere, commonly known as aconite, blue rocket, and wolfsbane".

"What else did you read?" Damon asked, taking the wolfsbane from Jeremy.

"Well, every source says something different" Jeremy said, "One myth says it causes lycanthropy, which sounds bogus, another one says that it protects people, and another one says, well, it's toxic".

Mason groaned hearing Jeremy, "From his reaction, I'm going to guess it's toxic" Aria said.

Damon walked over to Mason with the wolfsbane in his hand, "What's Katherine doing in Mystic Falls?" Damon asked, Mason stayed quiet, causing Damon to run the wolfsbane along his face, causing his skin to burn, "Why is she here?".

"She's here with me" Mason spat, "Why do you ask? You jealous?".

"How rude of me" Damon said, "I just realised I didn't offer you anything to eat".

Damon shoved the wolfsbane into Mason's mouth, causing both Jeremy and Aria to look away.

"What do you want with the moonstone?" Damon asked.

"Screw you" Mason snapped, with blood dripping from his mouth.

"Wrong answer" Damon said, going towards Mason.

"If he was gonna say anything, he would've already" Jeremy snapped, in an attempt to stop Damon.

"Taking your eyes now" Damon threatened, completely ignoring Jeremy.

"The well" Mason yelled, "You can find it there".

"We already know where it is" Aria snapped, hoping Mason will speak quicker, the quicker he speaks the quicker this torture ends.

"We wanna know what it does and why you want it" Damon said.

"I'm getting it for Katherine" Mason said.

"Why does Katherine want it?" Aria asked.

"She's gonna use it to lift the curse" Mason replied.

"Of the moon?" Damon asked, "Now why would a vampire help a werewolf break a curse that keeps them from turning when they want?".

"So I wouldn't have to turn anymore" Mason snapped.

"Why?" Damon asked.

"Because she loves me" Mason replied.

Aria felt sorry for Mason, he was another guy Katherine Pierce trapped into her fake love spell, it wasn't his fault that Katherine manipulated him into thinking she loved him and used him to do her dirty work.

Damon chuckled, "No, now I get it, you're just stupid".

"Mason, trust me when I say this, Katherine isn't in love with you, she's just using you to do her dirty work" Aria said, as nicely as she possible could, knowing all to well the pain of loving someone who will never love you back.

"I'm done talking" Mason said, refusing to believe Aria.

"Yes, you are" Damon said, he handed Jeremy the wolfsbane, "It's time to take a walk Jeremy, and take Ria with you".

"What, no" Aria protested, "I'm not leaving".

"Yes you are" Damon said, "You won't be able to take what's going to happen next, just go with Jeremy Ria, please".

Aria looked between Mason and Damon in uncertainty, she knew why Damon wanted her to leave, he didn't want her to see him kill Mason.

"Just help Tyler" Mason begged Aria, "Don't let this happen to him".

"Damon--".

"I said leave Aria" Damon snapped, making Aria flinch at his harsh tone.

Aria knew Damon was telling her to leave for her own benefit, if Aria saw Damon kill Mason, then she will never be able to come out of it, she will never be able to face Tyler, but leaving she would feel immense guilt but it would save her from the countless nightmares.

And even if she wanted to stop Damon she couldn't, because she knew the first chance he got, Mason would come after Damon, and call her selfish but Aria couldn't have that, so she didn't try to stop Damon, knowing all to well this war between Mason and Damon will only end with one of them dead, and Aria couldn't let that be Damon, so as much as she felt guilty, she didn't try to stop Damon from killing Mason.

Seeing Aria make no movement, Jeremy grabbed Aria's hand and dragged her out with him, like Damon, he also knew Aria wouldn't be able to see Mason die.

Aria walked into the Gilbert's kitchen where she saw Alaric and Elena setting the table for dinner, while Jenna was on the phone with someone.

"Where's Jeremy?" Elena asked Aria, knowing Jeremy has spent the whole day with Damon and Aria.

"He went straight to his room, said he wasn't too hungry" Aria replied, truth be told, Aria had also lost her appetite tonight, but both her and Jeremy not being on the dinning table would create doubts in Jenna's mind and Aria didn't want that, "Whose Jenna talking to?".

"I don't know" Alaric replied, "Everything go okay, today?".

"There were a few hiccups, but yeah" Elena replied, while Aria stayed quiet, the guilt of what happened to Mason was eating at her.

"Of course, I understand" Jenna said, walking over to Aria, "Aria, it's for you".

Aria looked Jenna in confusion, "Who is it?", Jenna didn't say anything, just handed Aria the phone and walked away, "Hello?" Aria answered.

"Hello Aria" Katherine answered, making Aria freeze.

"Katherine" Aria whispered, shocking both Elena and Alaric.

"You and Damon should have listened to me, also ask Elena, did she enjoy her little rendezvous with Stefan this morning? I will always know Aria" Katherine taunted, "I will always be one step ahead of you, just like the time I killed your parents, when are you gonna figure that out?".

Suddenly, everything around Aria started spinning when she heard Katherine's words, "What?".

"Oh did lover boy not tell you?" Katherine mocked, "I am the vampire you've been looking for Aria, I am the one who killed your parents, if you couldn't tell I am not a huge fan of the Connor bloodline, I want them all gone, it's taken a lot of restraint from me to not rip your heart out".

"I will kill you Katherine" Aria spat, all she could see was red.

"Now, now Aria, I'll be careful with that tongue of yours, you wouldn't want me to lose it and accidently end up hurting someone" Katherine said, loving the fact that she was getting under Aria's skin, "Did you know how easy it was for me to get inside your parent's house, it was as easy as getting into Elena's house, to replace Aunt Jenna's vervain perfume, to convince her to stop drinking her special tea".

Aria looked at Jenna in shock, "No".

"Jenna's been my little spy for days now" Katherine revealed, "But unlike you and Elena, Jenna actually listens to me, so when I suggest the world would be a much better place if she were to just--".

Aria looked towards Jenna, to see her about to stab herself with the knife, "Jenna, no!", but it was to late, Jenna had already stabbed herself.

After Jenna had stabbed herself, Alaric and the girls quickly brought her to the hospital, after admitting her, Elena and Aria walked back to the waiting room where Jeremy was waiting for them.

"Is she okay?" Jeremy asked, extremely worried for Jenna.

"The doctors told Alaric that she got lucky" Elena replied, while Aria stayed quiet, "She's gonna make it, she's gonna be okay".

"Does she remember what happened?" Jeremy asked.

"No, nothing" Elena replied, "It's all part of Katherine's mind compulsion".

"Now, why would Katherine hurt Jenna?" Jeremy asked confused.

"Because me and Elena didn't listen to her" Aria whispered, tears slipping down her face.

"Hey, hey, hey, come here" Jeremy said, bring Aria into his embrace.

"She killed them Jer" Aria cried, finally registering what had happened, "She killed them".

"Who?" Jeremy asked, "Who did she kill?".

"My parents" Aria sobbed, "Katherine was the vampire who killed my parents".

Jeremy and Elena looked at each other in shock, now they knew why Aria has been so quiet since Katherine's call.

Jeremy tightened his hold on a hysterical Aria, "Shh, it's going to be okay".

"No, it's not" Aria whispered, knowing all to well until she does what Katherine wants, nothing is going to be okay.

"She's gonna pay Aria" Jeremey promised, "I don't know how, but she's gonna pay".

Aria walked into Damon's room, to see him sitting on the side of his bed, looking down at a polaroid of them, sensing Aria's presence, Damon looked up, he knew why she was here, and he dreaded it.

"I'm so sorry" Damon apologised, knowing the only reason Katherine went after Jenna was because he provoked her.

"Did you know?" Aria asked, "Did you know that Katherine killed my parents?".

"Ria--".

"Answer my question Damon" Aria snapped.

Damon sighed, "Yes, I had my suspicion when John said that the vampire who killed your parents was a girl, and then Isobel confirmed my doubt".

"How could you not tell me?" Aria asked, glaring at Damon.

"You were already hurting so much and I didn't want to add to that" Damon explained.

"You had no right" Aria cried, shoving Damon, "You had no right to hide such a huge thing from me".

"Ria--".

"No!" Aria yelled, shoving Damon again, "How could you, how could you Damon!".

Aria went to shove Damon again, but Damon quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a hug, Aria tried to get out but Damon wouldn't let her go, eventually Aria gave up and hugged him back.

"We were so stupid" Aria sobbed, "We thought we could ignore Katherine's threat, but we were so wrong Damon, we were so wrong".

"I know" Damon whispered, tightening his grip on Aria, knowing all to well as to what was coming next.

"This is our fault Damon" Aria cried, "Jenna's in the hospital, Jeremy or someone else I care about could be next, all because all four us didn't listen to her, because we still stayed together, Damon--".

"I know what you're gonna say" Damon interrupted, "But I beg you don't say it, please Aria, don't say it".

"I don't want to say it Damon" Aria cried, clutching Damon's shirt tightly, "But I need to say it Damon, I don't want to, but I need to, I've ignored Katherine's threat because I was selfish, I didn't want to lose you because I love you so so so much but I can't be selfish anymore, we are over Damon".

"No" Damon cried, not wanting to lose the girl who has become his life, "Please don't Aria".

Aria finally broke the hug and cupped Damon's face, "Just remember, I love you, I will always love you", Aria stepped forward and placed a small kiss on Damon's lips, "I'm really sorry".

Aria slowly stepped away from Damon, and after giving him on last glance, ran out of the room.

After Aria left, Damon started trashing his room, he was furious, he was furious that Katherine had won, she was successful in separating Aria and Damon, and Damon hated that.

Aria ran down the stairs and towards the front door.

"Aria".

Aria turned around to see a upset Stefan standing behind her, she knew why he was upset, while Aria had broken up with Damon, Elena had broken up with Stefan.

"I'm sorry" Stefan said, "I should have stopped Damon from riling Katherine up, but I didn't and I'm--".

"Don't apologise Stefan" Aria interrupted, "Because no matter what you say, it doesn't matter now, because she won, Katherine won".
