01. Day One Of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give Or Take

Five Years From Now,

Kol Mikaelson entered his house and immediately someone crashed into him and hugged his legs.

"Woah, careful Nova" Kol said, steadying the St. John girl before she fell.

"Uncle Kol, Alec is being mean to me again" Nova complained.

"Don't listen to her dad!" Alec yelled, running over to the duo, "I am innocent, look at my innocent face do you really think I can be mean to her?".

Kol chuckled at Alec's antics, "Nova, what did he do this time?".

"He keeps pulling my hair and everytime I try to run to his mom, he keeps using his magic to make sure I can't move" Nova complained.

Kol turned to his son, "What did we say about magic in the house?".

"Well, mom said no magic in the house but you said we should never put a restriction on our magic" Alec said, giving his father a cheeky smile.

Kol shook his head, "You are going to get me into so much trouble with your mother".

"I would never" Alec said, "As long as you keep this Nova thing between you and me".

Kol looked at Alec in amusement, "Are you blackmailing me?" he asked.

"No, I'm doing what you do to Uncle Nik" Alec replied, "You tell me if he doesn't do something for you then you will tell on him to Care Bear".

Kol faceplamed, "Remind me not to blackmail Nik infront of you" he mumbled, he then picked Nova up in his arms, "Come on Nova, let's get you to your best friend".

"You mean my future husband" Nova corrected.

Kol chuckled, "Yes, your future husband, he will protect you from Alec".

"He always does, which is why Alec always makes sure I can't reach him" Nova said.

"Well, I'm Alec's father, he can't stop me" Kol said, glancing at his son who was glaring at Nova.

"No brother of mine will marry her!" Alec stated.

"Show some respect Alec, we're going be family soon" Nova teased, making Kol chuckle.

"Mom!" Alec yelled, running away from his father and Nova, "I promise you all I will leave this house if Nova comes here one more time!".

"He says this all the time" Nova told Kol, "Does it not get tiring?".

"Alec get tired of doing drama?" Kol asked, "Not possible".

"I agree" Nova said, "But don't tell Alec, he might set my hair on fire".

"Your secret is safe with me" Kol assured, carrying Nova to where her future husband was.

Today,

Dear Journal,

It's been two weeks since the triplets turned one and also been two weeks since their father kidnapped us and Ric and flew us to Europe, claiming not only are we going to help Ric grieve, but also his kids deserved the best first birthday ever, and what was better then a getaway in Europe, despite knowing that the triplets won't remember any of this, Damon doesn't care, he claims that they are the Salvatore triplets and they deserve the best and they are always going to get the best. Currently we are in Amsterdam, I have my hands full with making sure Damon and Ric don't do anything stupid and also making sure that the triplets, who have started walking, don't walk off with strangers, but despite that, I am actually enjoying myself.

"I can't feel my cheeks" Ric complained, touching his face, "What are we drinking?".

"No idea, can you read German?" Damon asked, looking at the bottle he was holding.

"That's actually Dutch" Ric corrected.

"Oh" Damon simply said.

"Don't oh, Mr. Salvatore" Aria said, "And sober up, I am not taking care of three very hyperactive toddlers by myself".

"I am sober" Damon assured, making Aria give him a pointed look, "Ish".

"Great, then you won't mind taking care of Alec and Asher" Aria said, plopping Alec down on Damon's lap, she then removed Asher from the booster chair and handed him over to Alaric, "Congrats you two have been appointed babysitter for the afternoon, while me and Mia go sightseeing, have fun".

"Are you serious?" Damon asked, as Aria picked Mia up.

"Very, have fun boys" Aria said, "Mia say bye to your dad".

"Dad!" Mia yelled, clapping her hands and laughing, making the three adults laugh.

"Bye sweetheart" Damon said, using Alec's hand to wave Mia and Aria goodbye.

"Take care of my sons!" Aria yelled, walking away with Mia.

"Well, looks like it's just the four of us now" Damon said, looking at his son.

"How is Asher so much calmer then Alec?" Alaric asked, glancing at the two boys, one who was sitting peacefully, the one was trying to get grab everything and anything and put it in his mouth.

"One's like me, the other is like Aria" Damon simply said.

"Hmm, I see it now" Alaric said, making Damon chuckle.

After touring for a bit and buying a bunch of souvenirs, Aria went back to Damon and Alaric just as Kol called Damon, informing the couple that someone has been murdering people in Mystic Falls.

"How are we sure this isn't Lily again?" Aria asked, putting Mia in her booster seat, which was placed in the middle of her two brothers.

"Because Ri, Lily is a ripper, and those bodies were not killed the ripper way" Kol informed.

"You would know" Damon taunted.

"Obviously, I am the original ripper" Kol bragged.

"Not something you brag about idiot" Damon said.

"It is something I brag about, idiot" Kol retorted.

"If not Lily then who can this murderer be?" Aria asked, interrupting Damon and Kol's argument, knowing that once they started they took hours to finish.

"My guess, the heretics" Kol replied, shocking both Damon and Aria.

"Reception went a little fuzzy, brother" Damon said, "It sounds like you said my mom got her family of crazies back, can I have some details?".

"One victim had bite wounds" Kai informed, letting Damon and Aria know that he was also there with Kol, "And the other was burned to the point of no recognition".

"Me and Kai did some research and we found a house that's been in the foreclosure for the last two years" Kol revealed, "A house that had it's power all of a sudden turned on days after the disaster at Ric's wedding, so we told Caroline to go stake it out, what we need from you guys is to get Ric on the phone and tell us how to make a bomb".

"Wait, you and Kai are going to make a bomb?" Aria asked, suddenly very concerned.

"We are going to try to make a bomb" Kai corrected.

"In our house?" Aria asked again.

"Obviously Ri" Kol replied.

"Please for the love of everything, do not blow our house up" Aria said.

"Have some faith in us Aria" Kai said.

"Have you met you two?" Aria asked.

"Yes we have" Kol replied, "And we think when push comes to shove we can be very responsible".

"You two better be, because if me, Ria and our kids come home to a blown up house, we are going have a serious problem" Damon warned.

"Yeah, yeah, now pass the phone over to Ric, we need the bomb recipe" Kol said, as both he and Kai rolled their eyes at Damon and Aria's lack of faith in them.

"For you" Damon said, handing the phone over to Alaric.

"Hello?" Alaric greeted, answering the phone upside down.

"Wrong way Ric" Aria said, shaking her head at how drunk her adoptive father was.

"Hello?" Alaric repeated, after turning the phone right side up.

"Ric, tell us how the hell you make a bomb" Kol said, "We have gotten everything we need for it".

"We think we have gotten everything" Kai corrected.

"Fine, we think we have gotten everything, we just don't know how to ensemble it" Kol said.

"To think he's over a thousand years old" Damon whispered to Aria, making her laugh and lightly slap his shoulder.

Alaric sighed, "I can't just tell you that in the middle of a crowd".

"Then go somewhere there's no crowd" Kol retorted.

"Fine, give me a few minutes, I'll call you when I arrive at a less populated place" Alaric said, "And then I'm gonna blissfully pass out and pretend that this never happened".

After handing Damon his phone back, Alaric stumbled out of his chair.

"Careful" Aria warned.

"I'm okay" Alaric assured, stumbling away from the family.

After Alaric left, Aria turned to her fiance, "So your mother won" she said, "Everything we went through to make sure her family stayed locked up was for nothing".

"Kol says he's got it, he's got, plus he has Kai on his side as well" Damon assured.

Aria chuckled, "You know it's so weird Kol Mikaelson and Kai Parker, the villains of everyone's story are now playing hero for Mystic Falls, they continue to surprise me every single day".

"It's called the Aria effect" Damon said.

"The Aria effect?" Aria asked confused.

"Yeah, the Aria effect" Damon replied, "In which some of the the homicidal and evil vampires, witches, werewolves, turn into heroes because they don't want to disappoint you, probably the only person in this world to give them a chance and not judge them for their past actions".

Aria smiled at her soulmate, she leaned forward and placed a quick kiss on his lips, "I love you" she said.

Damon smiled, "I love you too" he said, grabbing Ric's leftover and taking a sip out of it, immediately not liking the taste, "Oh! I've had some janky-ass bourbon in my time, but this is--", Damon slid the drink over to Aria.

Aria looked at Damon in confusion but nonetheless took a sip of the drink, she then looked at Damon, slight alarmed, "Damon, this isn't bourbon" she said, "It's tea".

Damon took the glass back from Aria and took a sniff out of it, realising Aria was right, this whole time Alaric wasn't drinking bourbon, he was drinking tea, meaning he wasn't actually drunk but was only pretending to be drunk and that worried both the soulmates who now had no idea where Alaric had gone to.

Kol and Kai sat in a empty Mystic Grill, both getting drunk to forget what happened with Lily and her heretics. Kol and Kai ended up planting the bomb in the heretics new house but they survived because of their magic and went on a killing and spree and kill the whole graduated class of the police force, though Kol and Kai were ready to fight everyone, Caroline and Rebekah stopped them saying fighting isn't going to stop them, it's just going to make things worse.

So Caroline called Klaus, who returned to Mystic Falls from New Orleans and on Caroline's instance agreed to make a deal with Lily. The deal stated that all the residents of Mystic Falls will leave the town, Mystic Falls will be turned into a ghost turn and if a human does trespass then they are free game for the heretics, much to Kol's annoyance, Lily also ended up taking the boarding house from them.

"We need Ri here" Kol said, downing his drink.

"I think I need a holiday" Kai said, downing his drink.

"I think we all do" Kol said, just as his phone started ringing, making him groan in annoyance, "It's Damon".

"Ooo, you still haven't told your boyfriend about what happened here" Kai teased.

"Don't make me rip your heart out" Kol snapped, answering the call after a moment of hesitation, "Hope you're treating Ria and the kids right".

"Don't worry about them brother, you tell me, anything I should know about?" Damon asked.

"Nope, nothing at all, there is nothing going on here that you need to know about" Kol replied.

Before Damon could say anything, the door to the Grill opened and a furious Aria entered the Grill, with Damon right next to her, "Tell me why there are freaking heretics living in our house?!" she asked.

"Yeah, we are screwed" Kai whispered, downing another drink.

"We figured you would rather this town be empty then slaughtered" Kol told the couple, having filled them in on everything.

"Because we could care less about either option" Kai added.

"Exactly" Kol said, nodding his head at Kai.

"We kill them all and call it a day" Damon stated.

"Kol and Kai already tried that" Caroline informed, having met up with the group at the Grill after leaving the five kids in Klaus and Rebekah's care.

"You sent these two idiots to blow up a house, try harder" Damon snapped.

"Hey!" both Kol and Kai said.

"Demon, the deal has been made" Caroline said, "Which is that we don't kill them, they won't attack us, which if you didn't know, includes our kids".

Aria looked at her sister, "The kids aren't safe here, are they?".

Caroline sighed, "No, they aren't" she said, "Which is why I think until all of this is settled we should send all five of them to New Orleans".

"No!" Both Kol and Damon snapped.

"I already missed their birthday, I am not missing anything else" Kol argued.

"I am not sending my kids away from me" Damon said, glaring at Caroline.

"Even if they are in danger?" Aria asked fiance.

"Which is why I'm saying let's kill them" Damon replied.

"It's not that easy" Caroline snapped, "One wrong move and our kids become the target because we screwed up".

Aria sat there for a moment, then without saying anything she stood up and left the Grill.

"What happened to her?" Kai asked confused.

Damon, Kol and Caroline looked at each other, all having seen the look on Aria's face before.

"She's already formed a plan in her head, hasn't she?" Caroline asked, the other two vampires.

"Oh yeah" Kol replied.

"And we can't stop her?" Caroline asked, worried for her sister.

"Not likely" Damon replied.

Damon entered his and Aria's new room, which was now in the Mikaelson's mansion, which Klaus had built when he had turned into a hybrid, for now this was all of their new home, at least until they got the boarding house back.

Entering the room, Damon saw Aria sitting on the bed while watching their kids, sit on the carpet and play with their toys and each other.

"They aren't safe here, Damon" Aria whispered.

Damon sighed, he came and sat next to Aria and watched their kids, "Sending them away from us isn't a solution Ria".

"I want to my town back." Aria stated.

"What?" Damon asked.

"I'm not going to sit back and let your mother take over the town that I grew up in" Aria replied, "I want to fight Damon, I want to fight till I get this town back, but the only thing I am afraid of is--".

"My mother and her lunatic family coming after our weakness" Damon finished.

"Which happens to be these three and Jayden and Hope" Aria said, "So here's a plan, for a few days we send the triplets and twins to New Orleans where Nik, Finn and Elijah will keep them safe, and while they are away, we do everything we can to get our town back, even if it means killing them".

Damon smirked, "Kai was right, you are as crazy me" he said.

Aria chuckled, "Only sometimes" she said, "So, ready to send our children away from us?".

"Only because I don't want them to be caught in the crossover of their crazy parents and the enemies they are about to make" Damon said.

Aria smiled, "Don't worry Damon, we are going to bring them back home really soon".

Damon pressed a kiss on Aria's forehead, "I believe you, I believe in you" he said, making Aria smile at him.

"Trespassers are free rein, friend" One of Lily's heretic said, walking over to a homeless guy, before the guy could do or say anything, the heretic had bit into his neck and drank his blood to the point of his death.

"That wasn't so nice".

After dropping the now dead body to the ground, the heretic turned around, only to see a smirking Aria standing behind him.

"And you are?".

Aria shrugged, "According to my fiance, I'm the most powerful creature to exist" she replied, "And I agree with him".

The heretic glared at Aria, he tried to charge at her, but Aria placed her hands infront of her and let out a banshee scream, the power of her scream was so powerful that the heretic in front of her of her immediately fell to the floor, his hands over his ears that were now bleeding, he tried to block out Aria's scream but was failing miserably, while the heretic was down, Damon speeded behind him and ripped his heart out.

The two soulmates looked at each other and smiled, "One day, a few more to go" Aria said, as Damon dropped the heart to the ground.

Five Years From Now,

"You have incoming" Kol said, entering Asher and Alec's shared room, where Asher was busy reading.

"Husband!" Nova yelled, running over to Asher once Kol had let her down.

Asher put his book down, just as Nova crashed into him, "Careful, Nova" he said, as the force of Nova's hug caused him to fall back on his bed with Nova on top of him.

"I missed you!" Nova yelled into Asher's ear.

"Nova I'm right here, you don't have to yell" Asher said, pushing Nova to the other side of the bed.

"If I don't yell then how will you know how much I missed you?" Nova asked, as her and Asher sat up.

"Even if you whisper it, I will know" Asher said, ruffling Nova's hair.

Kol smiled at the two kids infront of him, "Before you two get lost in your world, Asher can you tell me where your sister and mother is?".

"Don't you mean your daughter and fiance?" Asher teased.

Kol playfully narrowed his eyes at his son, "Careful Ash, you're starting to act like your brother".

"No, no, no" Nova said, rapidly shaking her head, "Asher please don't turn into Alec, I can't tolerate two people bullying me".

"Don't worry little Nova, I'll never bully you" Asher said, side hugging Nova, he then looked at his amused father, "Mom and Mia are in mom's office, they are video calling the people in New Orleans".

Kol groaned in annoyance, "Mia wanted to talk to Jayden again?" he asked.

"Mia wants to talk to Jay everyday" Asher replied.

"Me and Nik really need to have a talk" Kol mumbled.

"Yeah good luck with that" Asher said, "Mom said Care Bear and Uncle Nik might already be planning their wedding".

"Absolutely not" Kol snapped, "My daughter is not marrying Nik's son".

"Oh come on Uncle Kol, imagine how cute their wedding will be" Nova said, she then looked at Asher excitedly, "Maybe we can have our weddings at the same time".

"Oh my god" Kol said, looking at the scene infront of him in horror, "I need to talk to your mother, my kids are growing up too fast".

"Don't you mean your fiance?!" Asher yelled, as Kol walked out of the room.

"Yes Asher, I mean my fiance, who happens to be your mother!" Kol yelled back.

Asher laughed, "Love you dad!".

"I know!" Kol yelled back.

"Uncle Kol, say it back!" Nova yelled, making both Asher and Kol laugh.

"I love you Ash, now excuse me, I have to stop Nik's son from flirting with my daughter!" Kol yelled, running downstairs.

Nova looked at Asher, "When are you going to flirt with them?" she asked curiously.

Asher chuckled, "When we are older".

"Swear" Nova asked, holding out her pinky.

Asher intertwined his pinky with Nova, "Swear" he said.

"Cannonball!" Alec yelled, running into the room and jumping on top of both Asher and Nova.

"Alec!" Nova yelled, as she fell on to the ground.

"Alec!" Asher yelled, pushing Alec away from him.

"My job here is done" Alec said, after realising he had separated Nova from his brother.

"I'm going to kill you!" Nova yelled.

"First catch me!" Alec yelled, running out the room.

"Come back here Alec!" Nova yelled, running after Alec.

Asher shook his head at both Alec and Asher's antics, he then grabbed his book and started reading again, knowing now only his mother could stop Nova and Alec from fighting.
