19. Klaus

Aria sat on the basement floor, her back against the wall, impatiently waiting for Elijah to wake up.

"Come on Elijah" Aria whispered, "It's time to wake up".

"Aria".

"Oh for gods sake" Aria said in annoyance, she stood up, seeing Elena enter the basement.

"What did you do?" Elena asked, shocked seeing the dagger out of Elijah.

"What I should have done the minute you guys daggered him" Aria replied, really not in the mood to deal with Elena.

Before Elena could say anything, Elijah woke up with a gasp, startling both the girls.

Aria quickly ran over to Elijah and kneeled down next to him, "Elijah".

Elijah looked at Aria, "Ariana".

"Yeah, it's me, it's Aria" Aria said, happy to see Elijah finally awake.

For a moment, Elijah just stared at Aria, then suddenly stood up, groaning in pain.

"I can't--I can't breath" Elijah said, having trouble speaking, "What's happening to me?".

"I don't know" Aria whispered, not knowing how to help the Original.

Elijah tried to speed away but ended up crashing into the wall, Aria quickly ran over to him and steadied him.

"I can't--I can't--I can't be in this house" Elijah gasped.

Suddenly, realisation came over Aria's face, she looked between Elena and Elijah, "You're not invited in".

"Get me out of here" Elijah said, speeding away, Aria and Elena quickly running behind him.

Elena and Aria ran towards the front door where Elijah was, Elijah glared at Elena and tired running towards her, but the barrier on the door stopped him.

"What happened?" Elijah asked more so Aria then Elena, he no longer trusted the doppelganger.

"Shh" Elena said, pointing to her ear then upstairs, indicating that Stefan and Damon will hear them.

Truth is, Elena had gone downstairs to get the dagger out of Elijah, just like Aria she knew only Elijah could now save Bonnie from sacrificing herself, but to her surprise, when she had gone downstairs the dagger was already out of Elijah, courtesy to Aria.

"I'll tell you" Elena whispered, "But not here, can I trust you?".

"Can he trust you?" Aria snapped, making Elena and Elijah look at her, "Why are you even here Elena?".

"You know why" Elena snapped back.

Aria rolled her eyes at Elena's words, she turned to Elijah who was already looking at her with a small smile on his face, "Here" Aria said, handing Elijah the dagger, much to Elena's shock, "Me and Damon should have given you this the moment we got it, I'm sorry".

Elijah took the dagger from Aria's hand, "You have nothing to apologise for Ariana".

Both Aria and Elijah smiled at each other, while Elena looked between them with a frown her on her face, she knew it was going to be a long day today.

Aria parked her car to the side of the street and turned to Elijah, who was sitting on the passenger seat, drinking the blood bags Aria had stolen from the Salvatore's. Much to Elijah and Aria's annoyance, Elena was also in the car with them, she refused to leave without talking to Elijah.

"You look much better" Aria commented.

"Thank you Ariana" Elijah said, "May I ask, where did your friends get the dagger?".

"We will tell you everything but we have to work together, Elijah" Elena said, before Aria could reply.

"I believe I was talking to Ariana and not you" Elijah snapped, making Elena frown and Aria smile.

"Elena's father, John Gilbert gave the dagger to Damon, he thought he would use it to kill you, he didn't know that Damon didn't have any intention of doing that, Damon hid the dagger but clearly not in a good place as Stefan found it and Elena ended up daggering you, despite my warning not to" Aria explained, glaring at the doppelganger, "I couldn't take the dagger out cause Bonnie did a spell on it, whoever touched the dagger died, like Luka Martin did, last night I finally managed to overwrite the spell".

Elijah smiled, "You're getting stronger".

"You think so?" Aria asked.

Elijah nodded, "I can feel it".

"Elijah, I need your word that you will help me" Elena interrupted, making Aria sigh.

"Your ability to make demands has long passed" Elijah snapped.

"No demands" Elena clarified, "I'm offering you my help, and in return, I want yours".

"And why should I even consider this?" Elijah asked.

"Yeah, specially after you screwed him over when all he did was help you" Aria said.

Elena sighed, "The same reason that you haven't killed me, you need my help to kill Klaus, and I need you".

Aria frowned hearing Elena, for a second she had completely forgotten the fact that Elijah wanted to kill Klaus, Aria decided that no matter what happens, she wasn't going to let a brother kill his own brother.

Suddenly Aria's phone started ringing, "It's your boyfriend" Aria informed Elena.

"Where are you both? Are you both okay?" Stefan asked straight away.

"We're fine" Aria said, getting extremely annoyed with the boyfriend girlfriend duo.

"Where's Elijah?" Stefan asked.

"Right next to me" Aria replied.

"Where? I'm on my way" Stefan said.

"No" Aria snapped, "Elijah and I need to talk, you girlfriend has already forced her way into our conversation, but I don't want you here, I know Damon's listening to this conversation, tell him to keep his brother under control".

"Listen to me Aria, he can't be trusted" Stefan said, "He'll use you and Elena to get to Klaus".

"No, you and Elena can't be trusted" Aria said, "Elijah's one of the few people I do trust, so goodbye Stefan".

Before Stefan could say anything else, Aria hanged up on him.

"Something has changed" Elijah observed.

"What?" Aria asked confused,

"Something has changed in you, your different" Elijah replied.

"People tend to change when everyone around them betray them numerous time" Aria said, confusing Elijah, "Don't worry, that's a story for another day".

Back at the Salvatore's, Damon smirked seeing Stefan's shocked face, "Let me guess, she hanged up on you".

"Yeah, she did" Stefan replied.

"That's my girl" Damon said, feeling proud of Aria.

"You knew she was going to do this, didn't you?" Stefan asked.

"Of course I did" Damon replied, grabbing a glass of bourbon.

"And you didn't think to stop her?" Stefan asked annoyed.

"Why would I do that?" Damon asked, "Elijah knows how to save her, I'd be an idiot to stop her, also Ria's doing what you and Elena failed to do, she's looking for another way, she's looking for a way in which Bonnie doesn't die in".

"What if Elijah kills them?" Stefan asked, frustrated his brother was so calm about this, "Damon, we need to find them and stop them".

"Back off Stefan" Damon warned, standing infront of his brother, "Don't interfere in something you don't understand, if Aria is your best friend, like you claim she is, then trust her, she knows what she's doing, and your an idiot if you think I will let Aria put herself in a dangerous situation".

"I can't just leave them alone with him" Stefan snapped, walking away from Damon.

Damon quickly grabbed Stefan's arm and stopped him in his place, "I don't think you heard me Stefan, I said, back off".

Both Salvatore brothers stood in the middle of their living room, glaring at each other.

"He's here" Elena informed.

"Klaus is here?" Elijah asked, Aria nodded, "Have you met him?".

"He took over Alaric's body" Aria informed, "We had a brief conversation".

"Of course he has" Elijah said, "One of his favorite tricks".

"Well, what are his other tricks?" Elena asked, "What is he gonna do next? You're the only one who knows him".

"Well, I wouldn't say I'm the only one" Elijah said, looking at Aria.

"I've only got one memory of Klaus, and even if I did know his other tricks, I would be an idiot to tell her" Aria said.

"Why's that?" Elijah asked curiously, "I thought she's your best friend".

"A lot of things happened after you got daggered, such as Kol telling me about the Petrova Connor prophecy" Aria explained, "It's hard being best friends with someone whose to going to lead you to your death".

"Of course he told you" Elijah whispered, "With what happened between you and Tatia, Kol has a deep hatred for doppelgangers, if he was to ever met Elena, he would end up killing her in a second".

"Whose Tatia?" Aria asked confused, the name seemed familiar to her but she didn't know why.

"The Petrova doppelganger who started the prophecy".

Elijah, Aria and Elena stood outside the Lockwood's mansion, Elijah rang the doorbell and Carol Lockwood opened the door.

"Elijah? Aria? Elena?" Carol asked confused, "What are you doing here? What happened?" she asked, gesturing to Elijah's burnt clothes.

Elijah glanced at Aria, knowing her boyfriend was the cause of this, in return Aria just gave him a cheeky smile, in Damon's defense, he was just trying to wake him up.

"I've had a bit of an incident Carol, I'm hoping you could help" Elijah answered.

"Well, I'm on my way to a meeting so--".

"I won't take but a minute of your time" Elijah said, compelling Carol.

"Of course, anything you need" Carol said, giving Elijah a huge smile.

"Thank you" Elijah said, entering the mansion with Elena and Aria behind him, "Well, first things first, I'm going to need a change of clothing".

"Well, we could try one of my husband's suits" Carol suggested, "I haven't boxed them up yet".

"Wonderful" Elijah said.

"How did you know she's not on vervain?" Elena asked, after Carol had walked away.

"Because I'm the one who got her off it" Elijah replied, "Right before you and your friends killed me, twice".

"Twice?" Aria asked confused.

"Oh, she didn't tell you?" Elijah asked, "They failed to kill me the first time, but they definitely succeeded the second time".

 "No" Aria replied, glaring at Elena, "They didn't tell me".

"Such great friends" Elijah said sarcastically, "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be down in a moment".

"So I assume with what you said, the Martin witches are no longer with us?" Elijah asked the two girls.

"No" Elena said, "I'm sorry".

"And Katerina?" Elijah asked, "She would have been released from my compulsion when I died".

"Klaus took her" Elena informed, "We think she may be dead".

"I doubt that" Elijah said, "Not Klaus's style, death would be too easy for her after what she did".

"What did she exactly do to Klaus?" Aria asked curiously.

"She tried to keep us away from our humanity" Elijah replied, "After Kol, Klaus was the one who waited for you the most, when we found out that the Connor bloodline had gone extinct due to Katerina, Klaus and Kol both had lost it, they became the monster our mother wanted them to become, the possibility of you coming back was the only thing stopping them from becoming something truly evil, but when they thought you weren't ever returning, they become something even I failed to recognise".

"I meant that much to you guys?" Aria asked shocked.

"You have no idea what you meant to us, what you still mean to us" Elijah replied, leaving Aria slightly speechless, "Anyways, back to Klaus, there was a time, I'd have done anything for him, Klaus is my brother".

"I already knew that" Aria informed, "I made the connection in my dreams".

"And you didn't think to tell me?" Elena asked shocked.

"We are not having this conversation again Elena" Aria snapped, "I told you I don't trust you, why would I tell someone I don't trust about my past life, do I look like an idiot to you?".

"I'm a little behind on the times, but I believe the term you're searching for is OMG" Elijah said, seeing Elena's shocked.

"There's a whole family of Originals?" Elena asked shocked.

"My father was a wealthy landowner in a village in Easter Europe" Elijah informed, "Our mother bore seven children".

"So your parents were human?" Elena asked.

"There whole family was" Aria whispered, her head starting to hurt as she started seeing flashes of the past.

"Ariana is absolutely correct" Elijah said, looking at Aria in concern, he knew what was happening, Kol had told them that to get Aria's memories back, they needed to remind her of the past they all shared together, but he did warn them all, that it wouldn't be a pretty process, "Our origin as vampires is a very long story Elena, just know, we're the oldest vampires in the world, we are The Original Family and from us, all vampires were created".

"Right, but Klaus is your brother" Elena said, "And you want him dead?".

"I need some air" Elijah said, "I'm still feeling a tad, dead".

"I will second that motion" Aria said, shaking her head and following Elijah out.

"So as you've seen, nothing can kill an Original" Elijah informed, walking in the Lockwood's ginormous backyard, with the two teenager girls right next to him, "Not sun, not fire, not even a werewolf bite, only the wood from one tree, a tree my family made sure burned".

"That's where the white ash for the dagger comes from" Elena realised.

"Yes" Elijah confirmed, "The witches won't allow anything truly immortal to walk the earth, every creature needs to have a weakness in order to maintain balance".

"Wait, if the sun can't kill you guys, then why does Klaus want to break the sun and moon curse?" Aria asked confused.

"Right" Elijah said chuckling, "The Curse of the Sun and the Moon, it's all so biblical sounding, don't you think?".

"What's so funny?" Elena asked confused, Elijah then went on to explain to the two girls how Klaus was the one who had drawn the Aztec sketches, "I don't understand, so Klaus drew the Aztec sketches about the curse?".

"Roman scrolls, African tribal etchings, and any other culture or continent we felt like planting it in" Elijah informed.

"But why?" Elena asked.

"The easiest way to discover the existence of a doppelganger and Connor witch, or to get your hands on some long lost moonstone, is to have every single member of two warring species on the lookout for it".

"So it's not Aztec at all?" Elena asked.

"It doesn't exist, does it?" Aria asked, finally realising why Elijah was amused, "You and Klaus made the Sun and Moon curse up, it's not real".

"Ariana Connor, always the one who figures it out" Elijah said, with a smile on his face, something he tends to do a lot when his with Aria.

"Klaus and I faked the Sun and Moon Curse, dating back over a thousand years" Elijah informed.

"But if there's no curse--".

"There's a curse" Elijah interrupted, "Just not that one, the real one's much worse, it's a curse placed on Klaus".

"Why does whatever you saying so sound so familiar to me?" Aria asked, "Did I know about Klaus's curse?".

"You were the one who told Klaus how to break it" Elijah informed, shocking both Elena and Aria.

"What?" Elena asked.

"Klaus has been trying to break it the last thousand years and you and Ariana are his only hope" Elijah replied.

"Well, what is this curse?" Elena asked.

Elijah sighed and pulled out Elena's phone from his jacket pocket, he had taken it from her because he didn't trust her, "Your phone will not stop its incessant buzzing, answer it, please".

Elena sighed and took the phone from Elijah, "Stefan--what's wrong? No, no no, I--okay, I'll be right there".

"What happened?" Aria asked, seeing Elena's worried face.

"Klaus went after Jenna, I have to go to her" Elena replied.

"What?" Aria asked shocked, "Is she okay?".

"She's fine" Elena replied, "Just really freaked out".

"I'm afraid that's not part of the day's arrangement" Elijah said.

"She's my family Elijah, I have to" Elena snapped.

Aria sighed, "I'll stay", both Elena and Elijah looked towards Aria, "Let Elena go to Jenna, I'll stay here with you".

"I'll be back" Elena promised, "You have my word".

"That doesn't mean anything to me until you live up to it" Elijah said.

"Thank you" Elena said, after giving Aria one last look, Elena left the Lockwood's property, leaving Elijah and Aria alone.

"Now Ariana, I believe we have a lot to talk about".

"So, what will you like to know?" Elijah asked.

"Everything" Aria replied, "I want to know everything about my life with your family, with Klaus, with Kol".

"Very well then" Elijah said, "Out of all of us, you met Kol first, it was when your family first moved to our village, your mother had passed away, and in your family it was only you, your father and your brother".

"My brother?" Aria asked, having no recollection of having a brother.

Elijah nodded, "His name was Sebastian, you and him were never close, let's just say, he wasn't the best brother out there" Elijah said, "Both you and Kol were sixteen when you both had met, I still remember your first meeting, you were getting water from the well, and Kol, being the hyperactive kid he was, ended up bumping into you, causing all the water to fall on to you, you were so angry, that you ended up punching Kol in the nose".

"I punched Kol on our first meeting?" Aria asked shocked.

"Yes" Elijah replied, amusement shown clearly in his voice, "Me and Klaus were there, we saw it happen with our own eyes and we couldn't stop laughing, you were the first girl in our village who didn't take any crap from anyone, one of the many reasons Kol was so intrigued with you, instead of plotting revenge, like we thought he would, Kol became really taken with you, he wanted to get to know you, for a while you kept pushing him away, but my brother has always been extremely stubborn, he never gave up and eventually you both became friends, really good friends, that's how you were introduced to our family, we all loved you the minute you walked into our house, you became family, even our cruel father started loving you as his own daughter, and as time went on, you and Kol fell madly in love with each other, I don't know much about your love story, your going to have to ask Kol on that".

"Dully noted" Aria replied, "What happened after we fell in love?".

"Years later, when both you and Kol tapped into your magic, that's when everything went wrong" Elijah said.

"Wait, Kol was a witch?" Aria asked shocked, "I thought he had witch connections, I never knew he was a witch himself".

"Our mother was a very powerful witch, and Kol was the only one of us who had tapped into his magic" Elijah informed.

"How did us tapping into our magic mess everything up?" Aria asked confused.

"Because that's when our mother realised how powerful you truly are, she couldn't have anyone be more powerful then her, so she forbid Kol and the rest of us from seeing you" Elijah explained.

"So did you?" Aria asked, "Did you guys stop seeing me?".

"No" Elijah replied, "Instead we started seeing you more, at yours and Kol's secret place".

"The lake" Aria whispered, "Kol showed me that place in one of our many talks, Jonas also showed me a vision of me and Klaus at that lake".

"That lake meant everything to us, specially to Kol and Klaus" Elijah replied, "It was place we all could go to escape from reality, Kol got to be with you, Klaus got to get away from our father, but most of all, we would all be with you, for a while things were good, but we didn't realise that our mother had found out about us still seeing you".

"How did she find out?" Aria asked curiously.

"Through Tatia" Elijah informed, anger heard clearly in his voice.

"The first Petrova doppelganger?" Aria asked.

"Yes, also your best friend" Elijah replied.

"My best friend snitched on me?" Aria asked shocked.

"Jealousy is a very ugly emotion Ariana, if it can turn family against family, best friends are nothing" Elijah replied.

"Tatia was jealous of me?" Aria asked, Elijah simply nodded.

"She didn't like how close you and Klaus were, she loved Klaus, but Klaus was always busy with you and Kol, as time went on, Tatia grew a resentment towards you, you thought she was your best friend, so you told her everything, not realising that what you told, she told our mother, starting the Petrova Connor prophecy" Elijah explained.

"Tatia led me to my death?" Aria asked, Elijah nodded.

"Since Tatia told our mother everything, she started plotting your death Ariana, and she finally got the opportunity when she turned us into vampires".

"How?" Aria asked confused.

"Every full moon, the whole village went into a cave to be safe from the werewolves" Elijah informed, "One full moon, Klaus and our little brother Henrik decided they wanted to go sneak out and see the men turn into beasts, next morning they both returned, only difference was, Henrik was in Klaus's arms, dead".

"The werewolves killed him?" Aria asked, tears welling up in her eyes.

Elijah nodded, "After that, our father wanted for us to be better then the werewolves, if they were fast, we were supposed to be faster, if their bite hurt, our bite was supposed to kill, which is why our mother used very dark magic to turn all of us into what we are today".

"Vampires were made through magic?" Aria asked shocked.

"Black magic" Elijah clarified, "What we didn't know was that, while our mother was preparing the vampirism spell, she was also preparing a curse, a curse for the Connor bloodline".

"I think I know what your talking about" Aria said, "Natalie, Damon's first love, she was also a Connor witch, she told Damon that some very old witches wanted to curse the Connor bloodline cause they were too strong, they wanted to make it that whenever a vampire came across a Connor witch they would automatically want to kill them, but a guy named--oh my god".

"What?" Elijah asked.

"A guy named Kol had changed the spell, he made it so that Connor witches would instead be connected to vampires, how could I forget that?" Aria wondered.

"When my mother came over to Kol and told him she approved of him and you, Kol started getting extremely suspicious of our mother's intentions, you told him to be happy that you guys got mother's approval, but Kol couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling he felt" Elijah said, "So he went into our mother's grimoire, and he found the spell, what your boyfriends first love didn't know, was that it wasn't a bunch of witches, it was just my mother who made the spell, Kol was outraged, but then he had an idea, he changed the whole spell, he wasn't going to let our mother separate you both".

"So when you guys turned into vampires, did the spell work?" Aria asked.

"It did" Elijah replied, a small smile on his face when he remembered that day, "The spell worked wonderfully, you and Kol officially became one, you could not only sense when the other was in danger, but you could also sense what the other was feeling, Kol's protectiveness regarding you increased, your love for him increased, you both were truly happy".

"What was your mother's reaction to that?" Aria asked.

"She was furious, she believed that as long as you were alive, we would never truly be strong, because whenever you were around, we made sure we never lost control, we made sure we never killed anyone, we didn't want to scare you away" Elijah said, "But on your and Kol's wedding day, our mother finally got what she wanted".

"Wait hold up" Aria said shocked, "Did you just say, mine and Kol's wedding day?"

Elijah nodded, "That day was supposed to be the most beautiful day of yours and Kol's life, instead it turned into the worst day for all our lives, while we all were preparing for the wedding of two loved ones, our mother was preparing someone else to do what she couldn't".

"Who?" Aria asked.

"Tatia" Elijah replied, shocking Aria, "Kol was waiting at the alter for you, but you didn't come, suddenly he started feeling like you were in danger so he ran to your house where he saw Tatia standing infront of your dead body, a bloody knife in her hand, our mother had brainwashed her to the point she couldn't tell what was the difference between right and wrong".

"I was killed on my wedding day, by my best friend" Aria whispered, tears streaming down her face, "What amazing luck do I have".

"I killed her" Elijah whispered.

"What?" Aria asked confused.

"I ripped Tatia's heart out, I was enraged, we all were, if I hadn't done it, then someone else would have" Elijah answered, hatred shown clearly on his face, "But I am glad I did it".

"What happened after I died?" Aria asked.

"Kol took your body away, he met up with some witches, they were a coven of witches you had saved once, they were more then willing to help Kol, they helped him prepare a spell that would bring you back, but that spell had consequences to it" Elijah replied.

"I will come back thousand years later, with no memory of you guys and connected to someone else?" Aria asked.

"Yes" Elijah said, "But Kol didn't care, none of us did, we just wanted you back, no matter what the consequence".

"How did you guys even know I would come back?" Aria asked confused.

"The spell said that once we buried you, if we wanted to see if the spell had worked or not, after ten years we had to go back to the place and see" Elijah said, "If your body was still there, the spell had failed, but if your body wasn't there the spell had worked".

"So did my body disappear?" Aria asked.

Elijah nodded, "We had all scattered across the world, but ten years later, we were all there to see, even in your death you only brought us closer to each other, I remember the happiness we all felt when we saw that your body was gone, the only reminder of you being buried there was the necklace you left behind, the necklace Kol had given you when he had asked you to marry him".

"Where's the necklace now?" Aria asked curiously.

"In Kol's pocket, Kol never takes the necklace out of his pocket" Elijah replied.

"Where is he?" Aria asked suddenly, "Why do I see Kol in my dreams but not in person?".

"Because Klaus threw him and the rest of our family in the bottom of the ocean" Elijah replied.

"What?" Aria asked shocked.

"Daggering our siblings wasn't enough, Klaus had to drop them in the bottom of the ocean where I could never find them".

"That's why you want to kill him" Aria realised, "You want revenge for your family".

Elijah nodded, Aria frowned, for some reason, Aria refused to believe that Klaus would do something like that to his own family.

"What if I prove to you that Klaus lied to you?" Aria asked suddenly, "For some reason, I refuse to believe Klaus would do something like that".

Elijah sighed, "If you do prove that, then I give you my word, I will not kill Klaus".

"Great" Aria said smiling, "We have a deal then?".

"Indeed we do" Elijah said, he wasn't surprised by Aria's faith in Klaus, when the whole world gave up on Klaus, it was Aria who stood by him, she would go against everyone to prove Klaus's innocence, "Ariana, may I give you some advice?".

"Of course" Aria said.

"There will be a day when your friend Elena, she will be overcomed by jealousy, she won't be able to help it, it's in her blood, I know the prophecy says she will lead you to your death, but in Tatia's case, she ended up killing you, Katerina also ended up killing Natalie".

"You think Elena's going to end up killing me?" Aria asked shocked.

"History tends to repeat itself Ariana, specially in this town" Elijah said, "I'm asking you to get rid of her, I know you might say your done with her, but I know there's a small part of you that still cares for her, you need to let go of that part, because when it comes down to it, I'm afraid, she will be your death, and I don't think me or my family has it in us to lose you once again".

After talking for hours, Aria and Elijah sat in silence, Elijah was letting Aria sink in everything he had told her, he knew it wasn't easy and she was getting extremely overwhelmed so he let her relax for a while, knowing she needed it.

Suddenly the Lockwood's front door opened and Elena entered, she got confused seeing Aria sitting on the couch with her head in her hands, after Elijah told her everything, Aria start experiencing severe headaches, Elijah told her that was her brain trying to remember everything about her past life, but it wasn't going to be easy or pretty.

"Welcome back" Elijah told Elena.

"Tell me" Elena demanded, "What is Klaus's curse?".

"You know, my family was quite close, most it we have to thank Ariana for" Elijah said, making a small smile form on Aria's face, "She glued our family together, but she could never glue Klaus and my father, they did not get on too well, when we became vampires, we discovered the truth".

"Aah!" Aria yelled, clutching her head when pictures started flashing infront of her eyes.

"Aria!" Elena yelled, going to touch Aria.

"Don't touch her" Elijah warned, "You will just make things worse".

"What's happening to her?" Elena asked worried.

"She's slowly remembering" Elijah replied, "The more I talk about our past, the more she remembers".

"Klaus wasn't your father's biological son" Aria breathed out, having a vision of everyone finding out the truth about Klaus.

"Correct" Elijah said, "My mother had been unfaithful many years before, this was her darkest secret, Klaus was from a different bloodline, of course, when my father discovered this, he hunted down and he killed my mother's lover and his entire family, not realising, of course, that he was igniting a war between species that rages until this day".

"A war between the species?" Elena asked confused.

"The vampires, and the werewolves" Elijah revealed.

"So Klaus's real father was from a werewolf bloodline?" Elena asked, "What does that make Klaus? A werewolf or a vampire?".

"Both" Aria whispered, the pain in her head increasing, "His both".

"A hybrid would be deadlier than any werewolf or vampire" Elijah explained, "Nature would not stand for such an imbalance of power, therefore the witches, the servants of nature, saw to it that my brother's werewolf side would become dormant".

"That's the curse Klaus wants to break?" Elena asked shocked.

"He wants to trigger that part of him that's werewolf" Elijah replied, "If allowed, Klaus would sire his own bloodline, he'd build his own race, endangering not just vampires but everyone".

"He was so devastated" Aria whispered, remembering when Klaus's werewolf side was dormant, "He was so broken, a piece of him had been snatched away".

"And you could never see him heartbroken, which is why you figured out how to break the curse" Elijah said.

"Aria told Klaus?" Elena asked shocked.

Elijah nodded, "And Kol knew for our family, Ariana would do anything, even be part of a sacrifice, which is why he made an elixir that would safely bring her back to life".

"The elixir you told Damon about" Aria realised.

"Despite knowing that Klaus would endanger all species, you both still helped him?" Elena snapped.

"His family" Aria snapped back, her headaches making her extra snappy, "You wouldn't understand that Elena".

"And I helped him because I loved him" Elijah said, "That's changed now, he must die".

Elijah and Aria looked at each other, both of them knew it was better Elena didn't find out about their deal.

"We have the dagger now, we can stop him" Elena said.

Aria scoffed, "Are you that stupid Elena? When you hurt a werewolf with silver, it heals".

"An Original can't be killed by anything but white oak ash on a silver dagger" Elijah continued, "So you see the conundrum? The dagger does not work".

"What are you saying? Klaus can't be killed?" Elena asked frustrated.

"There's one way to kill any supernatural species" Elijah replied, "At the hands of the servants of nature themselves".

"A witch" Elena realised, looking towards Aria, "If they can channel that much power".

"Don't" Aria warned, seeing the look Elena was giving her, "I will never kill Klaus, so don't even bother asking".

"The curse must be broken during the full moon, when Klaus is in transition, that's when he'll be at his most vulnerable" Elijah explained, "A witch with enough power, can kill Klaus".

"What if I told you that I knew a witch that could channel that much power?" Elena asked, making Aria frown.

"I thought you didn't want to Bonnie to sacrifice herself for you" Aria snapped, "Your just all talk Elena, a lot of bullshit talk".

"Aria--".

"There's one more thing that you should know" Elijah interrupted Elena, not wanting her to upset Aria, who was already dealing with a lot.

"You found a way to save the life of the doppelganger?" Elena asked shocked.

"Yes Elena, I did" Elijah replied, "Unfortunately, Katerina took matters into her own hands first, I believe you already know how that played out".

"You cared about her, didn't you?" Elena realised.

"It's a common mistake, I'm told" Elijah said, "It's one I won't make again, the only person I really care about making it out alive from this sacrifice, is Ariana, I wouldn't really mind if you end up dead Elena".

Damon entered the living room and immediately went towards the bourbon, he could feel Aria's extremely overwhelmed emotions, he knew this was going to happen as Aria had texted him saying Elijah was telling her about her past and she was going to feel a whole lot of emotions, but that still didn't make it easy for Damon, all he wanted was to be near her, it also didn't help that Elena had come to meet Jenna without Aria, she told the brothers Aria had stayed with Elijah, even though Damon trusted Elijah, it didn't help his anxiousness, and on top of all that his brother doesn't understand what back off means.

"Don't start" Damon warned, seeing Stefan enter the room.

"How are you so calm?" Stefan snapped.

"And he starts" Damon said, downing his drink and facing Stefan, "You know, let's just get this out of the way once and for all Stefan, why are you so worried for Aria, is it because she's with Elijah, or because your in love with her?".

"Don't turn this into something else Damon" Stefan warned.

"Don't think I haven't noticed the looks you send her way when you think she isn't looking, how every time I ask you about your true feelings for her, you completely dodge the question" Damon snapped, finally having enough of his brother, "You know what I think, you've been trying so hard to save Elena, trying so hard to go against Aria, it's so no one finds out what you truly feel, the good brother has officially gone bad by falling for his brother's girl".

"There it is" Stefan said, glaring at Damon.

"There it is" Damon repeated, "The thing is Stefan, you can love Aria all you want, you are no competition for me, a missing Original is more competition then you could ever be, and now, you screwed up so badly, that forget Aria's love, you don't even have her respect anymore".

Suddenly, Stefan punched Damon in the face, causing him to fall backwards into the table, Damon stood up and glared at Stefan, both brothers charged towards each other and held each other in a choke hold, both refusing to back down.

"Damon!" Aria yelled, entering the living room with Elena and Elijah, all shocked seeing the brothers fight like this.

Hearing Aria, both the brothers finally let go of each other.

"You invited him in?" Stefan asked Elena shocked.

"Elijah and I have renewed the terms of our deal" Elena informed.

"Really?" Damon asked, looking at Aria, who nodded.

"You will come to no harm at my hand" Elijah told Stefan, he didn't need to say that to Damon, Elijah knew Damon would always keep Aria safe, and that's all he cared about, he would never harm someone who wants to keep Aria safe, "I only ask for one thing in return".

"What?" Damon asked.

"An apology" Elijah replied.

"A what?" Damon asked, "I'm not apologising for anything, I didn't do anything".

"You don't have to apologise Damon" Aria assured, looking at her boyfriend in amusement, knowing how much he hated apologising.

The group looked towards Stefan, "Stefan the sacrifice is happening whether you like it or not" Aria said.

"Bonnie will kill Klaus without hurting herself and Elijah knows how to save my life" Elena informed, "I told you I'd find another way, and I did".

"Why would you save her life?" Damon asked Elijah, annoyance shown clearly in his voice.

"Humanity" Elijah replied simply, making Damon roll his eyes and Aria chuckle at his actions.

"Is that true?" Stefan asked.

"It is" Elijah replied.

"And you both are trusting him?" Stefan asked.

"I've always trusted him" Aria replied.

"I am" Elena said.

Stefan looked between Aria and Elena, after a pause simply walked away.

Aria rolled her eyes at Stefan's dramatic actions, she then looked towards Damon and quickly ran into his arms, "I missed you" Aria mumbled.

"I missed you" Damon whispered, kissing Aria's head, "You are not leaving me tomorrow".

"I wouldn't have it any other way" Aria said, relishing the hug.

Elijah looked at the two with a small smile on his face, like Klaus, Elijah could also see the immense love the two shared, but unlike Klaus, Elijah was very happy for the two.

Elena looked at Damon and Aria with a small frown on her face, unknown to Aria and Damon, Elijah's words were slowly coming true, jealousy was starting to show.

Just thought to clarify, Aria doesn't have all her memories back, she only has some, she's slowly getting there.

Also, I really hope I explained Aria's past with Originals to your guy's satisfaction, obviously it's not all, as somethings only Kol knew, so you guys will find that out when he comes, but still hope you enjoyed, oh and can I just say how much I love Stefan being the bad brother.
