Chapter 6

Elijah

Never in my fucking life had anyone ever had the audacity to confront me, and that a girl did it made me too angry.

And not just any girl, but that girl.

Was the Aston Martin made for men? For obvious reasons, I was driving it.

I lost even my appetite, and, in the end, I proved that this girl was stupid and one with a lot of balls, and no, she didn't disappoint me. From the moment she stopped to face Dylan, I knew she wasn't just another tart. At first, I thought she was just a little girl wanting to get attention, but I realized she knew about us, and I sensed that Jane put her on notice, and even so, she was willing to face us. I wasn't going to deny the urge I had to kill her at that moment and more for mocking me with that stupid bow. However, I would be very patient for the first time, and I was sure that my moment would come soon, and I would make her pay for it.

And when that time came, I was going to have a lot of fun and enjoy myself.

I smiled sideways as I watched her walk with Jane out of the cafeteria. I did it to imagine all the things I would do to her when the day came to pay for it.

Everyone in the cafeteria remained in a sepulchral silence after having witnessed that scene. Many must have imagined how that girl would pay for what she did and were not wrong. It would be suffering for her for me a satisfying amusement, that was for sure since no one made fun of a Grigori and bragged about it afterward.

Except, it was easy for them to mess with a boss, and the Smith brothers witnessed that.

The broad had no idea who she was dealing with and couldn't imagine the kind of demon she had tempted. I wasn't the type to go against girls, but all things considered, she was different.

Her honey-colored irises made me realize that a lot of trouble lay ahead with her arrival. For a moment, her delicious vanilla scent made me think of all the things I could do with her in bed and her eyes. However, they wanted to have conveyed bravery, also showed me an innocence that intrigued me a lot, although her way of being let me know that she was not my type.

I was going for submissive girls who always did what I wanted when I wanted and how I wanted, and that brunette didn't know what the word submission meant.

"Elijah, let's get out of here. I'm sick of the stupid looks," Elsa shooed, grabbing my arm. I roughly released my grip and gave her a stern look. I didn't like her treating me as if I needed to be led my way.

"Don't call me by my name," I demanded, and I knew I wasn't fair to her, but still, when was I ever fair to anyone? Never.

I walked briskly without looking at anyone outside the cafeteria. Classes weren't over yet, but I didn't give a shit about that, and I walked towards the parking lot to get the hell out of there. I needed to go to the gym and take out all that anger I was feeling by beating up a punching bag, and even with that, I didn't think it would be enough for me. A dumb brunette managed to get on my nerves in a way I hadn't been for over a year.

Frustrated and very angry.

Arriving near where I left my car, I spotted the guys, who I sensed was still trying to calm Dylan down. Elsa was behind me, but I didn't take any notice, and I didn't even have the kindness to wait for her and walk beside her. I laughed derisively in my inner self for what I had thought since I was never nice.

"I don't want the information tonight. I want it now," I demanded of Evan when I arrived in front of them.

"Classes aren't over yet," he replied, earning a severe look from me. "Fine, I'll head over to the quarters now and get it for you," he snapped back when he saw that I wasn't asking him for a favor. I was ordering him to do something I wanted him to comply with immediately.

"That fucking bitch is going to pay!" mumbled Dylan angrily.

"Who told you to touch her ass, asshole!" reprimanded Jacob.

"He didn't touch it. He slapped it, which is different," Evan snorted at those moments, and I could notice the annoyance in his voice.

"She's still fucking arrogant anyway," Elsa joined them, and I just stared at them without giving any importance to what they were saying.

"Are you going to add anything yourself?" I wryly winked towards Connor, who had kept quiet and just smirked in the same way.

"You have to let me have fun with her," Dylan asked me. I didn't reply and walked to my car.

"I'll take care of her," I assured with a clear warning towards them, "I'll be the only one having fun with her," I emphasized to make it clear to all of them so they wouldn't do anything stupid.

I noticed the helplessness in Dylan, the amusement in Jacob, the annoyance in Evan, who filled me with curiosity to know why. Connor just watched me with doubts, trying to guess my intentions, and in Elsa, I only saw annoyance.

I got into the car and made the engine roar to drive away from there towards Bob's gym.

After all, the first day of school was no longer typical and boring.

After a long workout and a more extended shower, I felt a little calmer. I still couldn't get that girl out of my head and everything that had happened, but I didn't think about it in anger anymore. I had to admit that it even caused me a bit of amusement, and I swore that, at last, college would no longer be so dull.

I hadn't had any challenges in my life for a long time, but that day and with that girl, a fun one came along. My purpose was to make that girl regret having crossed my path.

That same afternoon, I went to the quarters. We called it that way because it was the place where we all met in the organization. There we planned the strategies and the movements that would be made. Among our jobs was to clean up the shit of the government. We take care of the bastards with whom they could not. Also, try to maintain order among gang members and drug traffickers looking to make a good market in the city, even throughout Virginia. We also favored guys with good money, and drug dealing was like a hobby where we made more money on those shipments. We diverted from the confiscations that the politicians didn't want to report to the authorities.

In the end, we were no worse than the government and the millionaires, and best of all, we had them eating out of our hands.

When I arrived, I went to my father's office to send the documents he asked me to review and then deliver them to Louis, a multimillionaire, and our partner. When I finished doing that, I left for the technical lab where Evan was working his magic.

"I was just coming to get you," exclaimed him when he saw me enter.

"I hope you got what I asked for," I suggested dismissively.

"I have it," he assured. I took a seat across from him, waiting for him to continue, "but I really don't think it will do you much good." I frowned at his words. "The only thing I managed to get is her full name, Isabella White. All her information is only about her arrival in the state and that of the college. There is no trace of her past life nor where she studied, where she lived, nor even her parents' names appear."

Everything Evan said did nothing but annoy me. It annoyed me when things were not as I expected them to be.

"Why do you think that is?" I questioned and thought of many reasons.

"She's obviously hiding something," he asserted.

"Or she's hiding from someone," I opined, and he nodded.

Since I met Isabella that same day, I did nothing but fill myself with intrigue and curiosity about her life. That girl had earned a place on my blacklist, and I knew from experience that when you wanted to destroy someone, the first thing to do was to know about their life, but with her, everything was complicated for me.

I would have to do something to find out what I wanted, and I laughed arrogantly when I realized that it was not something but someone.

Jane Smith.

"Send Jacob and Dylan for Jane," I immediately ordered Evan.

"Huh?" was all he managed to say when he didn't understand my plans.

"If I want to know about Isabella, what better than a chat with her new friend," I explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Okay, but don't you think you're looking too much into that girl's life?" he pointed out, causing me to press my teeth together hard and tense my jaw.

"If so, it's something you don't care about. Just obey," I asserted in a calm voice, but filled with anger, it pissed me off to have my decisions questioned.

"I'll go for that errand too." We were both surprised by Connor's voice saying that, but I didn't think anything of it afterward and just nodded.

"I hope you bring her alone this time and not with some companion," I warned, reminding them of their last assignment.

Everyone who knows me knew what was good for them, and it was better that they didn't mess with me and didn't make me angry. I didn't like them questioning my decisions, and I hated being contradicted. It made my blood boil when they screwed up their missions, and I never did anything without thinking about it first. I was never wrong, and that was very clear to them.

Evan, above all, knew what I was capable of. He witnessed many of my actions and knew perfectly well that I consistently achieved what I set out to do. Teaching a certain honey-eyed girl to respect and obey me was my latest goal.

I spent some time waiting for my order to be fulfilled, I busied myself with a lot of unfinished business in the organization, so when Myles would be back, he would notice how ideally things went without him being present.

"Your order arrived," Evan reported two hours later. I nodded and left the office after him.

"I hope for everyone's sake there were no inconveniences," I warned icily.

"There aren't," he assured proudly.

I entered the room meeting, at first sight, Jacob and Dylan, who shook their heads slightly in greeting, I returned them and raised my left hand into a fist at my chest as I wrapped it with the palm of the other and rubbed it, anxious to start getting results on my latest whim. Evan entered before me, and with his hand, he pointed to where my order was. I looked over and found a very frightened Jane next to Connor, handing her a glass of water.

She was sitting in one of the chairs in front of the table that we often occupied as interrogation. I smiled in a Machiavellian way when her look full of terror connected to mine, and I could see the trembling in her body, which caused me immense satisfaction, but more rejoicing would cause me the day that her new friend was the one who looked at me in that way.

"We meet again, Jane," I said, smiling and letting her know that the reason for her being there was not very good.

At least not for her new friend.
