The Search

Norway had been missing for an entire day, and the nordics were growing increasingly worried, especially Denmark. After telling the Norwegian that he loved him, Norway had stormed out of the house, not telling anyone where he was going. Now, no one could find him. Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland all panicked as they reached the 24th hour of his disappearance.

"We're never going to find him! Where could he be?" Finland panicked, clutching onto Sweden in despair.

"Don't talk like that! We'll find him. I have every country out looking for him." Denmark scolded. Finland sobbed and cuddled up to Sweden to comfort himself. Everything had gone awkwardly silent before Iceland burst through the door and into the living room, covered in snow.

"I found his footprints in the snow and followed them into the woods. They stop at that tree trunk that he's always sitting on and then another set of footprints appears. Then, there's tire tracks, but they stop as they get to the road all the way on the other side of the forest." Iceland explained.

"So do you think someone kidnapped him?!" Denmark questioned.

"I'm afraid so." Iceland responded dully as he looked down at the ground. No one wanted to assume the worse, but there was no other possible explanation.

"Who the hell would want to kidnap Norway?" Denmark asked, growing increasingly frustrated and confused as time passed.

"Does he have any enemies?" Sweden suggested, coming out from his silence with a serious tone.

"Not that I know of. He's never really done anything to anyone. I can't think of anyone who would want to hurt him." Denmark responded. Finland continued to sob as silence ensued, no one knowing what to do next.

"I can see if we can follow the tracks if you want Den." Sweden suggested as Finland continued clutching onto him in a fit of tears.

"Ok. Iceland you go check in with all the other countries to see if anyone has any updates. I'll search the forest some more." Denmark ordered. As everyone set off to do there jobs, Denmark tried not to cry. He was trying to be strong, but the man he loved was somewhere out there with someone who was not him. Though Norway had ultimately smashed his heart into a million pieces, Denmark still loved him, and still prayed that he wasn't hurt.

By the end of the day, the nordics had a tiny bit more information, but still no idea who the kidnapper could be or where Norway could be located. Sweden and Finland had come back to the house in frustration, following the tracks until they had seemingly disappeared into thin air. Denmark had searched the woods, so far only finding a black button and a couple drops of blood near the footprints that no one could recognize. Iceland came back and made a list of all the countries that had updates, but none of them really helped.

As they sat down at the table for dinner, the mood was glum, and no one really had much of an appetite. They tried not to notice the empty chair at the table next to Denmark when they served their gravlax and akvavit, but it didn't help. The gap that was left in the table of five was overwhelmingly present, serving as a grim reminder of their missing friend.

As they sat and ate in unusual silence, Iceland stood up. "I'm going to my room. My brother wouldn't want me wasting time eating while he's somewhere out there, hopelessly missing."

"Ice-" Finland called out, interrupted by the pounding of Iceland's feet on the stairs. Denmark's jaw tightened. He couldn't help but think Iceland was right. He was wasting time instead of looking for Norway.

"I'm going too." Denmark suddenly said, standing up to leave.

"Not you too, Den." Finland looked at him disappointedly, a pleading look in his eyes. Sweden just gave him a nod, as if giving him permission to leave.

"Finland, you don't understand. This is my fault. I have to go." Denmark explained before finally opening the door and walking out. It was already dark but Denmark was not going to give up searching, no matter the time of day.

"Where are you Norge? I love you."
