Three

Lilly's POV;

"I got it" Damon muttered through gritted teeth to the witch along side him pushing the trolley. They remind me of an old married couple and yet I'd never see them together together.

I wandered behind them looking around as we went, as if I hadn't been here every day for months.

I'd woken up this morning and changed into black shorts, a white cropped cami and a flannel and got excited for nothing. Nothing new, nothing different.

"Okay," Bonnie piped up removing her arms from the handle of the cart. "We need strawberries, eggs, milk and" she paused looking around "ooh and candles"

"Candles?" I questioned still walking slightly behind the pair.

"I know it's been a while, but you couldn't do magic as an anchor" Damon rattled on.

"Ah magic" I spoke under my breath.

"So I'm curious what momentary lapse of reason makes you think you can do it now" he continued on pushing the trolley with his forearms as he did.

"Ouch, and I'm the mean one?" I laughed throwing firewood into the trolley. Damon rolled his eyes at my remark along with the innocent smile I was currently giving him.

"You know, when all this started you sucked at making pancakes and now, they're somewhat edible so there's no reason to be Peter pessimist" she grabbed sunglasses "we have proof we're not alone"

"First of all" Damon grabbed the milk, I rolled my eyes at their bickering along with Bonnies continuous comments about someone else been here "don't nickname me, that's my thing." He snatched one of the pairs of sunnies I now held, I gave him a look, "second of all, this proof of a mysteriously filled in crossword could've easily been you"

"I didn't fill it in"

"I hate to say this Bon, but he kinda has a point" I added while trying on my new sunglasses. They continued going at each other while I made my way down the snack isle. I don't think I'll ever get used to all these American snacks.

I do miss Iron Bru.

"I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes I saw the sign" I muttered away while trailing down the mass of sweets.

"Lilly!" Damon yelled over the music, I made my way towards him snacks in hand, which I threw in on top of everything else, "you been eating pork rinds?"

My fave screwed up, "God no, ew"

He rolled his eyes as Bonnie said "see! I knew it" the faint sound of random music came from outside, "you hear that?" She stormed to the door and out to the carousel, "you hear that? That's what hope sounds like"

"It could be timed" I tried to convince myself she was wrong. There was no hope here. Only months of living the same day on repeat.

She gave me a look while Damon started pulling the thing apart. He muttered about faulty wiring to Bonnie as I had a look around for any trace of someone. It was empty. The parking lot at the side of the store.

"Helllooo" I spoke up not expecting a response. "I'm talking to myself aren't I?" I laughed looking down. Then there was a sound from the back of the store. Crunching on leaves. Tempting me.

"That's my car!" I turned at the sound of Damon's voice.

I vamped over to see that blue beauty.

I had my head in my hands while I sat on the edge of the ground at the door. Damon had spent 10 minutes listening to his cars engine. "That's it" I mumbled getting up and going back inside.

"Oreos. Oreos would be good right now" I spoke aloud to myself.

"I love Oreos" an unrecognisable voice chimed from behind me. Sounding as if they had a mouth full of crisps. I turned quickly to see a young guy. Good looking guy, tall, brown hair, flirty smile. "Manners, I'm Kai" he stuck a hand out. A hand I didn't take.

Pork rinds. He was eating pork rinds.

"I'm dreaming" I closed my eyes for a mere moment.

"I know I'm handsome but you're definitely awake gorgeous" he winked after speaking.

"How long have you bee-" I stopped talking after hearing Damon call my name. I turned to find him, tell him Bonnie was right, except that never happned because before I knew it, a heavy object came in contact with my head, everything was black and my body had hit the floor.

~~~~~~~~
"Evelyn!" I laughed as I ran through the gardens, he followed. "Dad will kill us".
"Come on Duncan! Don't be scared" I stopped turning to face my older brother. He stopped running and caught his breath while tugging at his jacket to fix it.
"I can assure you I am not scared for myself little sister" he grabbed the stone from my hand. The beautiful pearlescent stone.
"Hey!" I slapped his arm, "you're scared for me" I admitted. I was scared for me too, although the only time I could ever smile was in the absence of mum and dad but the presence of Duncan.
"Can I speak with you for a moment?" His tone became more serious.
"Aren't we already speaking brother?" I smiled up at him placing my hands on my hips.
"I'm bringing someone to our celebration tonight" he straighten his tie, he was nervous.
"Ah, a lady friend?" I raised a brow, trying to grab the stone once again, the stone I didn't retrieve.
"Yes, listen, I need to make a good impression with mum and dad, so please, be on your best behaviour" he pleaded with me as though I was on my worst behaviour usually.
"Under one condition" I spoke turning to walk back to our home, "you tell me her name"
"Katerina"
My hand clutched to my chest as my body jolted upward. Breathing slightly heavier and feeling around, I was on Damon's couch.
"Ah she's awake too, time for the q and a portion of the evening" Damon's voice came into range. I turned my head to see him, standing with pork rinds in hand and that guy from the store.
"Hey!" I stood walking over to him, "you knocked me out" he smiled up at me, taking me in from head to toe.
"Let me guess, I answer right, I get a pork rind, wrong I get a poker" his eyes stayed on me as he spoke.
"What? No no no, these are for me, you just get the poker" Damon probed him with the end of his poker. I wasn't quite so happy to let a man like him slide with just a threat.
My hand latched to his neck squeezing enough to restrict his airflow but not make him instantly go night night, "I don't appreciate what you did" I spoke calmly and precisely.
He smirked up at me. SMIRKED.
"Ok hot pants, he tried to actually kill me. Vervain in my bourbon and all. Now get your hand off him. He's mine" I would've killed him by now. I god damn should've, but, he was our only hope of getting out of here. So I slightly unwillingly listened to Damon and removed my hand from his neck.
"Mm" he hummed smiling up at me. "You're hot when you're angry" he kicked his bottom lip.
"Ew" I muttered rolling my eyes and sitting back down.
"As for the poker, you don't have to do that, we're on the same team" there was that smile again.
"Really? Do you always try and kill your teammates." Bonnie walked toward him all powerful like.
"The important thing is that you have your magic back" he confirmed.
"Wait- you have your magic back?" I but in causing him to look at me again, I avoided his gaze looking to Bonnie.
"A lot can happen when you're knocked out Lils" Damon turned to smile at me.
"You didn't really think I'd kill Damon did you?" He laughed before adding, "in what universe does that make sense? I couldn't kill 1 quarter of our population" he eyed my up again, this time I engaged, "I'm not a monster" he turned back to tweedle dumb and tweedle Dee, " I knew Bonnie would show up, she always does, all 13 times. I also knew with the right motivation she'd be able to access her magic, all though I did get a little worried with all your bickering that Damon's life wouldn't be enough motivation"
"And me? Why knock me out" I stood walking over to the boy tied up, kneeling down to face him.
"You hotness, had to be knocked out. Bonnie here would save Damon's life over yours in a heartbeat." He looked straight into my eyes, "but you knew that right?" He was trying to coax me. "You're even more heartless than he is"
I smiled, reaching up to twiddle the string of his hoodie between my fingers. "Bingo, so what makes you think I care for your life?"
"You don't. And I like that"
"Ok ok enough flirting." Damon fake gagged pulling me back up.
"So you did all that just to get my magic back?" Bonnie raised a brow.
"Of course I did because your magic is the key, to getting the hell out a here" he smiled up at us again from his chair.
"All I'm hearing is that we no longer need you" I cooed walking around behind the chair grabbing his hair to tilt his head back flush against the chair. Leaning down to his ear I whispered, "I haven't been able to kill for months and Im itching to start again"
He chuckled slightly, "you can't kill me, because you're only options are Damon and I" I let him go to look up at Damon who looked as confused as me. "We both know he's so not your type" sleaze.
"Yea trust me not gonna happen, she's not a relationship gal, I've tried" Damon threw another pork rind up to catch in his mouth.
"You do need me, I mean considering I'm the only one that knows the way out right?" I walked around to face him once again, "now" he looked down at his bound wrists in hope that we would removed them.
I bend down slightly and ripped the cuffs off.
"Hey!" Damon tutted.
"What? He wasn't going to speak otherwise" I dropped them to the floor watching as 'Kai' rubbed his wrists slightly.
"Now, speak" Damon demanded sitting on the couch.
Kai began to ramble on, ended up talking about the president and taking photos? I got bored so wandered off to get a drink from the kitchen. It was strong and bourbon tasting, it was bourbon after all. Bourbon was never my thing.
There's the door.
Bonnie is back.
I walked in to hear Kai demanding Damon tell him about May 10th 1994.
"He won't tell you" I hummed lifting the glass to my lips again.
Kai had went on to explain how Bonnie had Bennett magic and he had undisclosed essential knowledge in the matter and Damon was hitching a ride. I could've easily asked my purpose but if I'm being completely honest I did not want to know.
Damon eventually, after threatening Kai decided to get a drink and explained he'd returned to mystic falls in 1994.
I listened somewhat intently, not as much as Kai who sat scooping jam in his mouth, with his hand.
"Have you heard of a spoon?" I screwed up my face slightly looking at him licking his fingers. Jam getting stuck under and around his rings, he smiled, "just please" I stood walking past toward the kitchen, "wash your hands"
I reached the fridge, grabbing a nice cold blood bag soon after grabbing a glass from the cupboard. Kai stalked in tall and confident. Hands still sticky and covered in jam. He did as I asked, washing them and staring at me the whole time.
I stood with my back to him, pouring the blood into a glass and grabbing a straw. I may not be facing him but I can tell if I'm being watched, call it vampy sense.
The water stopped running from the tap and he grabbed a towel drying his hands, "why not drink straight from the bag?" His brow raised after he spoke. I finally faced him lifting the straw to my lips and taking a long slow sip.
After pulling the straw away and sitting the glass down. I licked the blood from my lips, "I was feeling classy" he smiled back at me. "So if Damon is all but useless and hitchhiking home, what does that make me?" Curiosity had got the best of me.
He chuckled slightly looking down for a moment before meeting my eyes again, "I have many many uses for you Lilly" I rolled my eyes turning to walk away only for his hands to grab the counter behind me around each side of my waste. Caging me in. "Or should I say, Evelyn"
