awkward pt. 1 | 04
You're so awkward.
Stop fidgeting in your place and twirling your thumbs like a four year old.
Do you enjoy representing all the first graders in the world?
Go up to her.
Say hi.
Say something!
You look so awkward standing there like a nerd.
So, so awkward.
What will she think of you, Colby?
I'm not that awkward, am I?
Yes.
I rubbed my hands together, head drooping to the floor as my mouth formed a solid line from cheek to cheek. She looked casual, sipping her coffee alone at her desk. Her intelligence exceeds most of the men in this building, no wonder she is one of the leaders in our office. The way her luscious locks rolls down her shoulders and her blazers hugs the skin so exquisitely. She's just a woman with high taste and high standards. What's there to be afraid of?
Everything. Everything, actually.
She's THAT kind of woman. Could I measure up?
Could Cole Robert Brock measure up to her?
As I gaze down at her, she looks up from her beverage. Glasses perch on the bridge of her cute button-like nose yet she flashes me her dangerous, steel eyes. I begin to open my mouth, but too many thoughts involving the amount of utter shit I could potentially spew out fogs every pick-up line that I had wanted to say.
So what do I do?
Close my mouth and keep walking.
I'll try again tomorrow.

I dressed myself nicely today.
Fancier looking dress shoes and a button up that tucked neatly into my trousers.
I know, fancy.
Sooo fancy.
I get through my day, filing papers, making calls, and stealing glances at the golden beauty that sits two cubicles away from me.
God, does she ever look ugly?
No.
She lifts her head for a second and spins around, almost catching my staring but I quickly turn myself around and pick up a stapler to my ear.
Wait, fuck I put a stapler to my ear.
I could hear a faint chuckle two cubicles away from me.
The chuckle sounded like royalty.
I groan in agony, dropping my whole upper body onto my desk. My face burying itself in the papers lying across the surface.
You just had to stare, huh.
Stupid EYES.
Good job today, Colby.
You got the princess to laugh at you.
Well, at least there's always tomorrow?

Look, Colby! She's coming your way, make small talk!
"Uhh heh heeey, y/n," I greet in a way that was the farthest from smooth.
No game. You have no game Colby.
She giggles, smiling. "Hi, Colby. How are you?"
She is alive and responding, Colby. This is good. This is great. Ask her out. Ask her to HANG out. Do something. Wait did she ask something of you? Whatever, just answer the girl.
I smile back, "I- I want to get coffee. Coffee! Yes, with you..." Good job, keep going Brock. "Want me to get you- I mean do you want to get me- WAIT!" I put my hands in the air, mentally slapping myself upside the head.
You lost your cool. Try again.
"Uh, do you want to get coffee with me?" I finally spurt out.
Her eyes widen, "Brock, you shouldn't be this ditzy this early in the morning," She laughs again, her voice sounding like honey and fresh dew in the spring. What the fuck, when did I become such a poet?
"Soo.. I'm sorry. I'm slightly too embarrassing," I sigh, nervously laughing.
"Don't worry, I'd love to get coffee with you, love." She smiles again, her pretty, delicate hands clutch together before saying that she had to go back to work. We exchanged numbers and she told me to c a l l h e r . Me! Call HER!
Today's a good day.
