Author's P.O.V

The waves roll in, ephemeral yet always there, splashing the dawn surface of the beach. Subliminally, you walk forward till the water greets your bare feet, shoes already dangling on your left hand.

The waves lay flat each time it meets you, so your emotions. Not once you gaze down, your eyes prefer to lock eyes with the peerless source of beauty of nature. The movement of water effortlessly choreographs your unrivaled thoughts, effortlessly.

And you certainly envy it.

"Are you okay?" Jungkook asks, ensuring his existence to you by placing his hand on your shoulder.

Taking a deep breath, you try to accuse yourself of being so dramatic right now. But nothing seems to knock in your knowledge as the nostalgic memories of Taehyung chose to flood your mind.

You don't know whether you should laugh or stay stiff enduring all these. But then again, in the end,  you know you're gonna break out in front of Jungkook, sooner or later.

So all those attempts of enduring are totally futile.

"Kind of." You state, shrugging your shoulders. Silence again possesses the atmosphere, peaceful yet unpleasant.

"Hey! You could tell me."Jungkook assures. His hands sneak around your arms, tenderly stroking.

Comfort and certitude ooze out from his behavior from the way his brown orbs stare to his soft touches of reassurance. Your heart threatens, the messed-up emotions may change his perspective.

The memories of Taehyung along with the worries of change of Jungkook's perspective are enough to eat up your mind. All of it seems to crush your every hope into pieces. It's pointless, but the nightmare earlier defines the reality, ever so rudely.

Now all you want to do is cry your heart out somewhere abandoned and blabber some shits and then again engage yourselves in the session of forgetting him in the attempt of starting new.

"It's just a bad day." You let out with a smile.

"Just a bad day won't bring tears from your eyes." He states. His thumb gliding upon your cheeks, pushing a drop of tear that was out of your notice.

Why does everything have to be so obvious? You thought.

The pressure from the storm of thoughts evident in your expression, capturing Jungkook's attention while his thumb rests on your cheeks.

Melancholy floats in the salty air of the beach yet carry the sense of despair. As if sucking up all the moments of real joy into a cave of incessant. It whispers how pathetic you are till you choose the harsher alternative to let it out.

Rage.

Pushing Jungkook's hand off of you, you suck up a breath before distancing yourself. Your mind and brain raise a war contemplating for the outbreak till the very moment.

"I'M NOT OKAY!" You yelp out. The sudden confession from you tends to flinch him at his place.

"And I don't know what should I do!" You let out with a shaky breath." So I guess it's better to pretend that I'm okay".

There was something in your utmost cry of sorrow that sets Jungkook in a daze. The pain behind it. But still, his light brown orbs search for yours, only to get the swathe of agony overlapping in your eyes.

No longer that sweet chocolate that melts in the slightest of love or happiness.

No longer that warm brown eyes that he witnessed on the very first day.

Your eyes try to remain steady at the moment under the gaze of Jungkook.

He watches you.

Seeks you.

Scrutinizes you.

Then he learns, the pain was nothing but an illusion against your belief. The belief of not wanting to trust anyone. And if someone dares to step in, the anger may shield your pain. If that means witnessing your anger is a way of getting that happier version of you back.

Then he's all up for it.

"Why are you thinking like that?" Jungkook reaches for you.

"Because I'm sick of people worrying about me. Judging me." You murmur the last word before distancing yourself more.

"I guess you've done enough judgment about me in your mind while replying to me. ." A bitter chuckle erupts from Jungkook while responding.

"Ahh!" Frustration curls up in your throat. Your hands guiding up your hair to push it back, while your mind suffers in uncertainty.

"Why don't we just pretend as nothing happened? Huh?" You attempt your final try, gently grabbing his hand while your eyes hover over the exit.

"What's the point of pretending when I've already seen-" Jungkook's words cut off.

"FINE." You lash out. "WHAT DO YOU WANNA KNOW? WHY I'm NOT OKAY?"

"Where should I even start?" A bitter snicker forces out of you.

"It's about a few weeks back I got rejected by my fiance just on the day before our marriage. And I had a nightmare about him today." A pang of fear shoots through the system of Jungkook upon hearing your confession.

Tears mingle around your eyes for voicing out the words for the first time that had been constantly played in your mind. It's kind of relieving to let it out, but still, the perpetual terror of Jungkook's perspective settles in your mind.

Your gaze almost instant faces the sand while his hand slides around your body before pulling you in his embrace.

He could feel the irony here.

In a matter of time, how the emotion of caring could injure in the pit of guilt.

His head settles on her crook of the neck, gently holding her. The candied scent of her seeps through his smelling buds, as he tightens her grip. As if she might dissolve in the air.

Soon after, he lets go due to receiving some low sobs from her. The red petrifies her cheeks, so her eyes resembling her tears as proof of crying.  Seeing your form like this, Jungkook's expression softens similar to the brown of his eyes.

As if he was born with cream added. At least that's what you thought.

Till you feel the taste of his existence once more as he softly presses his lips on you. Nothing but the persistent beats of waves reaches your ear, adding to your melancholic yet blissful atmosphere.

A sense of hesitancy works on him while feeling your lips against him. But never did the hesitation engulf him when he kisses the tears off your face. Ever so passionate.

As if giving away a promise of acceptance even though his guilt and hesitancy play with his mind.

A million thoughts of certitude condense into a moment within them.

"What's his name?" He asks, still holding her.

"Taehyung. Kim Taehyung."

And then all he knows that it hurts. All this guilt and uncertainty.

Maybe he shouldn't have forced her in the first place.

Now he might lose the potential to meet her eyes again.
