"So Tired"
My body tells me.
"So Tired"
It seems to say.
My legs are aching,
My head is throbbing,
It's been such a long day.

"So Tired"
I hear it murmur,
As my hand turns out the light.
"So Tired"
It grows fainter
As Sand Man begins his flight.

"So Tired"
It's only a whisper,
But fatigue is setting in.
My eyelids are now too tired to close,
My brain is numb and dim.

My gravelly eyes are looking
At the pot of pills.
Just one can't hurt,
To help me sleep,
To save me from my ills.

My laden hand drags out of bed,
Uncaps the pot of pills.
"Just one will do"
I tell myself,
To ease these sudden chills.

And now they're down,
I may have lied,
When I said only one.
But oh well,
It's happened now,
What is done is done.

My eyes are closing
And "it's fine",
I'm falling asleep,
But I know that it is
Perhaps for the last time.
