He inhaled deeply, inhaling the fresh, green air of the forest. Yet with it came the scent of something no fully human nose could detect. This breeze brought with it the smell of lavender and vanilla, of cotton clothes and a subtle hint of leather. This was a familiar smell to him. It was the smell of a girl. It was the smell of a hunt. He grinned maliciously and licked his lips. He slunk back into the shadows, lying in wait for the ill-disguised thump of shoes on the path. He could wait. And wait he would. For the hunt was always better if the prey thought they were one step ahead of you. The corners of his mouth upturned in the savage smile of a predator. Oh yes, he was going to enjoy this.
