"Oh my goodness" I cant help but scream as I look at the wall clock in my room, my alarm clock actually stopped working ..so annoying ..the freaking time is 8:00am and tutorials start by 7:30 ., first real day at school and you are late my subconsciousness whispers to me , its because my mum isn't home if not I would have been up by 6:30 . I guess I was really tired .....in a moment I'm in the kitchen with reeds { our maid)...reeling out instructions about breakfast ....then I run to the bathroom to grab a quick bath ..., air dried my hair and by the time I'm true with dressing up ., the time is 9:00 .oh my gosh , cant the time fucking slow down for me .....Thank goodness breakfast is on the table by the time I'm ready for it ..it's really cool having a maid you know ....... In minutes I'm on my way to school.

" Hey Bessie . " I mumble as I take a seat beside her cos there's a teacher in the class but fortunately for me he's facing the marker board so I just slipped in through the back door

...bessie is actually grinning and am sure that had it been there wasn't a teacher in the class she would have squealed in excitement.....but she still answers me anyway

" hey Rhodie you came late" she whispers. "Only my mum calls me that" I equally whisper to her wearing a playful frown in which she just smiles and says " it's only coincidental" , "....and my alarm clock stopped working" I say answering her second question .she only mutters "oh" as the teacher is now facing the class

" Miss Bessie, can you answer that question for us?" The teacher says to Bessie thank God I wasn't the one I would probably have frozen cos I have no idea what he has been talking about all this while " sorry sir but I didn't really get the question" Bessie answers standing up immediately.....visibly caught unawares .

He then scrutinizes me giving me a look like I don't think I know you after some seconds , he speaks up " young lady , I don't think I have met you before" " y yes s sir" I stutter totally unsure of what to say " I am a new student " I continue unblinking

" oh" he mutters and concentrates back on Bessie. I quickly take my seat so as to divert the attention to Bessie.

"miss Bessie, I said that if in a sentence like The hunter was bitten by a rabid dog is given what's the grammatical name given to the underlined word " so he's even the English teacher "umph" I sigh...he looks too stern to be an english teacher .he ought to be a mathematics teacher.

"um um", Bessie mutters " its an adjective because it qualifies the word "dog" .like it makes us know more about the dog .....quite smart I mutter to myself . ". You can have your seat " he says and then faces the board , but probably after an afterthought he faces us again sending a chill down my spine " you know what young women, I won't have two people teaching in the same class so if you know you aren't interested in my teaching , " he sighs and then continues" you can as well leave " he finishes pointing to the door " we are sorry sir " Bessie says almost immediately and I cant bring myself to apologizing for what I don't really consider wrong so I just mutter something inaudible even to my hearing . You are to answer the questions in your textbook .page 54 .

" Class captain" he calls out and a guy of a fair complexion with short brown curls stands up at row at the front stands up thereby disenabling me from seeing his face" yes sir " he answers " you are to collect their exercise books and bring them to me , I'll be at the staff room "he says and turns to leave the class ." Okay sir" the captain says loud enough for him to hear

The whole class resumes its normal rumble and mumble. Brrng brrng am pretty sure that's the bell for break . I must have been very late

" Rhoda , the bell for break is off already " she says to me confirming my thoughts ............... "Oh" I say like I didn't know before " so lets go grab sometimes at the tuck shop" she urges " Nah , ain't used to that , I'll just stay here and await your arrival "okay then, catch ya later" she says and hurries through the door leaving only me in the classroom as everyone else was gone immediately the bell was rung , like the had been waiting ....maybe they had been waiting like I care. I say to myself

"Oh my Gosh" I cant help but breathe out as I turn to see the most beautiful pair of eyes staring at me .....i quickly look away so as not to make him aware of his effect on me ...moments later I feel footsteps towards me ..is he actually coming here. I ask myself and mentally hug myself . I am now backing him as he was standing at the doorway and my seat was facing the board . He walks to my front and flashes me the brightest smile I think I've ever seen or probably ever noticed.." Hey " he says "oh, you are here" I answer like i didn't see him earlier " why are you sitting here all alone v, aren't you interested in getting something to eat or ....drink "he says to me and o can't think of any right answer as my heart is now skipping like three beats at a time....I really hope he's not hearing. I mentally slap myself for thinking that " I um .i .. Um actually , I am not really a big fan of going out during um break " I stutter ..he would probably think I am a stutterer by now cos this isn't the first time and the worst thing is that my fair skin isn't helping to conceal my nervousness as I can literally feel blood rushing to my cheeks ....no doubt its a shade of red now "...............if you don't mind " he says but I couldn't pick what he said " um , um, ..you said something" ." Um ,um yeah actually " so am not the only one stuttering here " " ........I said we could grab something if you don't mind " ....wow did he just offer to take me out ..whoopee " um , no ,um I mean no problem" I say and mentally smack myself for not being able to construct a simple sentence whenever I'm around him ..so terrible

Moments after , we are on the way to the canteen......grabbing whatever we could before the break would be over because according to him , it was a break of just 30 minutes and guess what he paid for the whole snacks ...i actually didn't mind doing that but he insisted so ...thumbs up to him , my lunch fee was still saved .

I get back into the class room beaming with smiles as I was unable to contain the excitement at being taken out with a crush ...it was like going on a date for the first time with a new boyfriend

" hey Rhoda , where the hell did you go , I searched everywhere even the rest rooms " she screams as soon as I take my seat beside her " hmn hmn". I say and make a face like I'm thinking " did you say all the rest rooms" but you didn't check the boys rest room "I attempt at a joke and discover she got it all backwards as she makes a facs like oh my god you've got to be kidding me,what the fuck where you doing there" hey babe was just kidding , I was at the canteen" and she opens her mouth to talk but I already know what she's gonna say ....yeah I know she'll be like I thought you said you weren't going or how did you find your way there so i just cut her short and answer all her unsaid questions " I went with a friend " .," oh " she mutters like I was gonna get lost or something had it being I went alone " so who's the friend " she asks again facing me ...probably in awe as to how I have two friends in two days or jealous that I have another friend besides her " um um , Collins " I answer and watch as colour drains from her face ,she doesn't say anything. ...and a teacher enters the class thereby making all words to be left kkk floating on the air as I wouldn't want to be in the black book of two freaking teachers for talking in a single day ..my first day for that matter and am pretty sure she wouldn't want that as well...
