Chapter 38

Kira's pov

"You see now he probably didn't have the nerve to ask before, but your saying it first made it easier and faster "

"Whatever mum, it was kind of embarrassing though, anyways, i need to see Rhodie , I'll love to share my  joy with her "

"Oh, Okay no problem about that, just make sure that you come back before sunset "

"Like I'm some kid, I'm engaged already  ... Okay "i say to her waving my ring to her face and smiling as well.

"Like i was never engaged or something, anyways be fast about it "

"Sure mum "

Rhoda's pov 

"I'm engaged already , I'm fucking engaged "Kira screams as soon as she gets down from her car waving her ring in front of me , at least i now know that Richard is for i and i alone , no fear of having to watch our backs , nevertheless , I'm very happy for her

"Wow, that's so cool, how did he propose, was it in your drink like we see in the movies or how, or. "I ask kind of in ecstasy

"Nothing special, i asked him if he truly loves me and he was like ..." her speech is cut off by Bessie's screeching of tires into the compound, she hurriedly parks her car and almost flies on me in a hug.

"He proposed, he proposed!!" She kept screaming and i was grateful to God for the fact that my mum wasn't home , she probably would have already got us pushed out of the house with the so much noise the duo have been making .. It took me about two seconds to realize that Bessie had been talking to me but i was already lost in the world of my own thoughts as usual

"Wow, I'm so glad for you " Kira says giving her a big hug and the same time my mum honks outside the gate ..As she alights from her car, she's obviously very surprised that we were all looking so happy and was forced to ask the reason behind our happiness

"What's wrong with you trio, what's the good news?" She asks and Kira answers almost immediately she asks like she had been waiting for the question earlier

"We are all engaged "she says almost in a shout. I can see that she's very happy, she must really love this Fred of a guy then, I'm happy for her, at least she can finally see things in a better way

"Wow, that really calls for celebration " my mum screams in happiness as well " let's go inside the house to get a few drinks ..Reeds!! Reeds!!" She calls out to the maid and we all head inside the house

"Madam, na me be this "reeds says as she comes out from the kitchen

"Give us a treat "my mum says to her and she looks at my mum as if she just spoke to her in Spanish

"Madam, no mind the driver o , i no fall down o , doctor no even come our  house since tey tey" she says looking confused and we all burst out laughing except my mum who was looking very tired of her already.

"That's not what i mean, i mean that you should serve us, some drinks and snacks "

"Oh" She says nodding her head "when i hear treat, i think say you think say the doctor.

"Keep quiet and go and do what i asked you to do" my mum shouts at her"

Everyone just keeps laughing as my mum cracks some jokes until Richard calls me to tell me that he's coming to pick me up for lunch and Collins and Fred also does the same and i find myself wondering if it was a planned work or something and i later find out that they were actually together when they were even making the call because they came inside the house in Richard's white jeep all wearing white and i started wondering that Richie probably told them something like "if you wear anything other than white , you are gonna have to leave in your own car " and i found myself laughing at the thought

"So what's up with the all-white attire?" Bessie asks after greeting them all especially Collins whom i thought that they weren't going to stop kissing all day

"Nothing serious, we just decided to emulate Richard's style of dressing "Fred says and we all laugh "copy cats "Richie says and we laugh harder

"So are we going to stay here and laugh all day?" 'i ask as i was already getting impatient

"Okay my princess , we are off to Fred's apartment this time around " Richie says and i try not to blush but instead find myself blushing more than necessary in fact 

"Hell no, that's a very creepy idea, in fact i can't imagine my dad putting on pink wrappers on the day of the introduction "Richard says and i find myself laughing at the thought

"It's so weird that Ibo's traditional clothes for male is wrapper "Kira chirps in and laughs  ..."It's very funny right? "She adds again

"You know what guys; we've not even talked about the date of the wedding ceremony "Collins says

"Are you fucking kidding me right now? We've not even picked the date for the common introduction, and you are talking about wedding already "Bessie says and i just laugh at the way Collins is behaving, to him it looks like he should be married already.

"You shouldn't have gone to serve at all in the first place, or better still you should have just married her before going for service in the first place "I add and everybody laughs, I'm pretty sure that had it been Collins was very white skinned like i, Kira and Richie he would be red by now but his dark skin is doing a very good job in concealing his embarrassment

"Okay guys, as we were saying earlier in that case we should just pick a date for the introduction then, right" Fred says again.

"There's no essence picking dates, let's just pick one date, and do the introduction together" Bessie offers and we all look at her as if she has excreta all over her face while Collins just holds  his face in his hands.

"It can't work that way babe, because we'll have to attend with our parents to each one's party " Richard offered to help her but it was like he himself was getting confused and for a second felt a pang of jealousy that he called someone else babe as he has never even called me that before but shoved it off

"It just can't work, okay and about the dates, i really think that our parents should be worrying about that not us" Collins says 

"Yeah, that's true, but i really think that it would be real fun if we all do our introduction the same day as it would save us from headaches and also cost, in that case we would be able to make the weddings a big hit, do you guys get?"  Fred says and everybody agrees after giving it a thought

"Richie, we are ordering our wedding cake from Italy, i think it shouldn't be up to a million naira" i say to Richard and he just looks at me wide eyed.

"Yeah, that wedding gown i saw online, Rhoda can you remember?, i think it's 2.5 million naira or so "Bessie says to Collins

"I really can't remember telling you that i already started working with world bank , or did i sleep talk ?" Collins answers and we all burst out laughing

"We've not yet concluded about the color you know "Bessie adds again having recovered from the first time's embarrassment as her opinion was now being considered.

"Yeah that's true, lemon is better" I say

"Hell no!!!" They all scream in unison like they just finished the rehearsal or something and i burst out in fits of laughter

"Okay then, who has another opinion in that case since you all refused mine "i ask again and they all look at each other

"I've told you guys before that the best is color pink, baby pink" Bessie says again

"i support that " Kira says

"Hell no , you said it yourself that baby pink and for crying out loud , I'm sure no one is on diapers here" Collins say and we all burst out laughing

"Okay then let's go for all white " Richard says and for some minutes we all stare at each other until we all agree to use color white for the introduction ceremony ....
