track 5 :: organic song | pentagon (e'dawn, wooseok, yuto ft. hui)
Come home for dinner.
So-eun wanted to reply that she was busy, but held herself back. Thinking back, it had been a while since she had had a meal with her parents. She sent a reply, telling her mother that she would be there.
Packing her things, she still felt it was too early to leave the coffee shop. It wasn't even seven o'clock yet.
Dinner with the family, she reminded herself. She was going to have dinner with her family.
The commute home felt shorter than she was used to. Her heart raced as she neared her neighborhood. She wasn't sure how well this dinner would go. If she remembered correctly, and she was sure that she did, the last few times hadn't been pleasant. That was around the time when Dahye had started acting up, two years earlier.
Her phone rang, just a few feet from the gate of their home. She stood there, taking the device from her bag. The only person who would possibly try to call her would be Soo-ah, asking for help on homework mostly, so there was no need to check the caller ID.
She waved hello to the boy who lived right across the street, who waved back before entering the gate to his home. Mingyu used to be her sister's best friend, though she hadn't seen them together in a long while. Along with Dahye's rebellious spark came the change of company. So-eun preferred Mingyu and those other two, the couple that she had forgotten the names of. They were good for her sister.
"I didn't think you would answer your phone," she heard the other person say. She ripped the phone from her ear and checked the ID, cursing. She should have changed her phone number, but she hadn't thought that he would try to get in contact again. It had only been that one text that day, and nothing followed. She was beginning to think that he had forgotten about her, which she would have been grateful for. But then he called her and she wanted to curse at whoever thought it would be funny to make her have to talk to him again. Without listening to anything he had to say, she ended the call and turned off the phone.
She wasn't ready to talk. Not to him, anyway.
The surroundings were awfully quiet as she stormed into the house.
"You're here early," her mother commented
So-eun plastered a smile to her face. "I couldn't wait to spend some time with you," she replied, not lying. "Is Dahye eating here too? She seems to be really busy lately."
"She'll be here," said her mother, though the look in her eyes didn't look too sure. "She said she would." The look on So-eun's face must have been one of disbelief because then her mother smiled assuringly, but also almost sadly. "You're sister likes to make people wait, doesn't she?"
She only nodded, wanting to push the small feeling of guilt that came rising back into her mind. The last thing she wanted was to cause any more damage to her relationship with her family even more.

a/n: Sorry for the short chapter after such a long break. I probably had more in mind but school became a priority and I forgot what I had planned for this chapter. This was written beforehand and I couldn't think of anything else to add so I'm posting it now. The next chapter might really take a while so I hope you don't mind the wait.
The song in the chapter title was supposed to be something else but recently I started to like Pentagon and this song has been stuck on replay for a while. This chapter is short but take the time to listen to the song :)
