Peter had walked along that same pavement path day after day. It was a routine, his daily schedule. Everything was familiar. The warm temperature against his skin, down to the repetitive tapping of his shoes onto the concrete.
It should have been the same, just like any other day. However, it wasn't. That one place had changed everything. It had made him truly open his eyes to the world around him.
As he continued his same stride, hands full of books, allowing his eyes to wander. Something along the way caught his attention. Except it wasn't the bustling streets or the crowded roads. Instead, it was someone.
Peter stopped dead in his tracks. Looking directly through the big bay windows, what he saw made his blood run slow.
It was a girl. The most radiant person he had ever seen. She held a note pack in her hand, taking orders while jotting down what the people at the table requested. All the while housing a bright smile, letting small giggles escape from her mouth whenever the couple made an attempt to entertain her.
He had not a clue what was being said, be he could tell that without even knowing her, the couple loved her presence. Her energy was contagious, and he wanted just the smallest dose of it.
The brown haired boy had been standing in the middle of the sidewalk for a matter of minutes at that point. And before his mind could direct him elsewhere, his legs were already moving towards the building entrance.
Stepping inside, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and baked pastries collided with his senses. It was the kind of experience that one could only get at that type of café. It was taken care of and looked after. A calming atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Peter set his stack of books down on a nearby table, hearing an audible thump in return. He then sat down beside them, pushing them to the side so that he could see what was in front of him.
He stayed with his fist resting on his cheek. His eyes were glassy, almost as if he wasn't fully there. Like his mind had wandered off to more exciting places.
The same girl that had convinced his conscience to come inside had walked towards his table, just in time to break him out of his trance and bring him back to the real world. A one where he would get to talk to her.
"Is there something I can get you?" She asked calmly, her voice flowing like the tide against the sea.
He looked back at her, slightly clueless. What he was met with was a warm smile. Peter then returned her mannerisms with a welcoming grin of his own.
"I'm not actually sure. Is there anything you would recommend?" He concluded with a light chuckle.
Her face dazzled at the opportunity to share. She loved telling her favorite orders. After all, she had tried the majority of the menu with much satisfaction.
"I know exactly what to bring you." The girl said cheerily, stepping off of the landing to attend to Peter's mystery drink.
The whole time he waited, all he could do was think about how pretty she was. Probably the prettiest girl he had ever seen. Peter was a dreamer... And she was a fantasy.
Not too long after, she returned with a glass molded cup that fit in the grasp of her hand. She set it gently down on the table, waiting for his initial response.
He had noticed the intricate design that she must have drawn into the milk foam. It was modeled after an autumn leaf. Something that he knew must have been special to her. Not many people would have made that pattern.
The toffee eyed boy analyzed the drink for only a second, taking the handle and raising it up to his mouth. As soon as he took a sip, he noted the hints of cocoa and caramel that mixed with each other.
He savored the sweetness, wondering how she would have known his palette so well.
"How did you know?" He asked, looking up at her with a glittering gaze.
"You just looked like someone who would enjoy it." The girl answered softly, reaching her pen up to her lips with a smirk.
Peter gave her a smile before she turned on heels and attended to another table.
After that one meeting, he knew that he was absolutely and undeniably addicted to her personality. He was fixated on her. The coffee shop girl.
