five: it's like some fucking children of the corn shit.
THE THREE TEENS WALKED INTO THE CORN MAZE.
"I bet we're gonna die. This is why I love Christmas. Not Halloween, Christmas!" Cece shouted, becoming nervous.
"Girl, take your chill pills." Megan whispered, nudging her shoulder.
"If you get scared, you can hold onto my arm." Tommy assured the blonde.
Cece scoffed.
"I'm not scared."
A crow came out of the corn field next to the three, making Cece scream.
"OH MY GOD, IT'S GONNA KILL ME, OH MY GOD!" Cece cried, basically jumping onto Tommy's arm.
The three stopped walking, and watched the crow fly away.
"Sure you're not scared-"
"Shut up, Megan."
"Hubie!" Megan called out.
"Mr. DuBois!" Tommy yelled.
"Cool thermos guy!" Cece shouted.
"Hubie!"
"Hello?!"
"Where are you?!"
"Should we split up?" Tommy asked the two.
"I don't know. This sounds like a big boner." Megan cringed.
"What?!" Tommy asked.
"I'm just kidding." Megan smiled, "Yeah, you two go that way."
Tommy and Cece turned right and began walking down that part of the corn maze.
"This is gonna sound...so awkward." Tommy started, as the two walked next to each other.
Cece looked up at Tommy.
"How come you and Megan don't look too...similar?"
Cece laughed and adjusted her Santa hat.
"Oh. I'm a foster kid, just like you. The McNally family tries to make me feel like I'm really apart of the family by saying I look like my quote on quote 'mom.' It just makes me feel..."
"Weird?" Tommy asked.
Cece nodded, kicking a rock with her high heels.
"Doesn't mean you're not apart of the family. You've been living with them for a long time now, you and Megan have grown onto each other, and your parents seem to like you. You're winning in life." Tommy shrugged.
"Same goes to you, I'll say?" Cece asked.
Tommy nodded, smiling.
"Well, it seems we both fit our new families." Cece smiled.
Tommy smiled down at the shorter girl.
"You're a cute little thing, aren't you?" Cece asked, tilting her head a little bit like a puppy.
"WHAT THE HELL, MIKE?! Why would you do that?!"
Tommy and Cece looked forward and saw Mike and Megan.
"Hey, woah! Sorry, I couldn't resist." Mike defended.
"That wasn't cool, man." Tommy said, stepping forward with Cece behind him.
"Hey, coffee boy. You two are those freshmen's, right?" Mike asked.
"Uh, yeah." Tommy answered.
"Yeah, well, welcome to your first high school fight."
Mike brought his arm back and punched Tommy in the face, making the boy fly back.
"What the hell, man?!" Cece yelled.
"You wanna be next, McNally?" Mike smirked.
"Tommy!" Megan yelled, rushing toward him.
"Megan McNally, you like underclassmen?" Mike laughed.
"Can say the same for you." Cece shot at him.
Mike laughed and turned towards Cece.
"Alright Cecelia, give me your best shot."
"W-What?" Cece asked.
"You get one punch." Mike said, holding his arms out.
"Okay. Uhm..." Cece trailed off.
"Never punched someone before? Aww. How cut-"
Cece threw her arm back and balled her hand in a fist, throwing it at Mikes face.
"OH, GOD!" The boy cried, holding his face.
"You okay?" Cece asked.
"NO!" Mike cried.
"You're okay." Cece scoffed, pulling her skirt down a little bit more.
The blonde went over to Tommy.
"Is the fight over? Did I win?" Tommy asked Megan and Cece.
"Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you kicked his ass. Come on." Megan told him, helping him up.
"It was so badass." Cece added.
"Come on, this way." Megan pointed, going through the corn.
Megan went first, then Cece, then Tommy.
"Dad? Is that you? Does Mom know you're still alive?" Hubie asked.
"No-"
Hubie let out a shriek.
"No. It's Tommy, Violet Valentine's son." Tommy said.
"Yeah, and Megan and Cece. We work down at the coffee shop. I give you free hot water for your dehydrated soup sometimes." Megan added.
"And I give you free cookies for your mother." Cece said.
"Yes. Much appreciated. The reason I take those things for free is cause I don't have money." Hubie said.
"Anyway, uh, we came over here to tell you that there's no lost kid." Megan said.
"No ones lost?" Hubie asked.
"Nope. But, I will say this. This place is so freaky. It's like some fucking Children of the Corn shit." Cece said.
"What the hell are you supposed to be?" Hubie asked the blonde.
"Oh! I'm this girl from Mean Girls? Well, not just a girl, I'm four girls who were wearing the same thing, and I decided to dress up in that costume." Cece explained, making signs with her gloved fingers.
"Of course it's Halloween and you're dress up in a Christmas costume. There should be a movie called 'Cecelia Christmas.'"
"I don't know what that means." Cece said.
"Anyways, it's just Mike Mundi trying to pull a prank on you." Megan started up again.
"Prank? No, I knew that." Hubie said.
The four were silent.
"So, I like the costumes. Even thought ones Christmas. Garbage can?" Hubie asked Tommy.
"Yeah. Tin Man." Tommy corrected.
"And the Christmas girl."
Cece nodded.
"And Red Riding Hood. I want to be honest with you. Might not be a good year for it. Um, between us, there is a man-wolf on the loose." Hubie informed the three.
"Ooh. Spooky." Cece shuttered.
"Then maybe I should head inside?" Megan asked.
"A wise decision." Hubie smiled.
"By the way, my mom was talking about you tonight." Tommy said.
"You're mom was talking about me?" Hubie asked, "What'd she say?"
"Just that you are nice." Tommy smiled.
"Well, I am nice. Because I'm not gonna tell her that you're out playing Romeo for the blonde Christmas girl instead of watching your two little sisters." Hubie said.
"First off, I'm not playing Romeo for Cece, and second, now I feel bad." Tommy said.
"I know you feel bad. Cause you got a big heart." Hubie said, tapping his heart on his costume.
"Thanks." Tommy whispered.
"So, I'm gonna let you three take off without me. I'll give you a head start in the name of romance, maybe the Red Riding Hood wants to stay behind for Romeo and Juliet-"
"Again, no." Tommy said, as Cece nodded.
"Okay. Go ahead, guys. Take care, now." Hubie smiled.
"Thanks, Mr. DuBois." Tommy thanked.
"Bye bye now." Cece waved.
The three turned around and started walking.
"He's an odd one." Megan commented.
The two freshman's nodded their heads.
"But he might be the sanest person I know." Cece said, walking in the muddy tracks with her sister on one side and Tommy in the other, her hands up like they were laying on a table at her sides.
