So far, the date had gone well.
Stephen had been a gentleman the entire time they were at the coffee shop. He even ordered for Tony, once the latter had decided to drink.
When their drinks came with a side of scones, Tony and Stephen continued to talk, neither protesting when the waitress brought out a candle to "make it more romantic" despite it being 1 o'clock pm on a Monday.
"Mm, delicious scones." Tony had commented, melting into the taste.
Stephen had only smiled from across the table. "Yeah. This is my favorite place to go for a warm cup of tea, coffee, breakfast, you name it."
Tony smiled. "I gotta come here more often." Stephen nodded.
"I'd like to join you sometime." Tony blushed.
"Are you asking me out on another date?" Tony teased.
"Maybe."
Tony laughed. "Well, I accept your offer."
By the time the conversation was over, the scones were gone and the coffee mugs were empty. Stephen stood up and paid, then helped Tony to his feet and walked him to Stephen's car.
Tony decided not to mention the fact that their fingers were interlaced.
Once they reached the car, Tony thanked him and asked if he could repay Stephen in any way, despite Stephen's protests that he was happy to pay and could ask for nothing more than Tony's company on another outing.
"Please?" Tony begged.
Stephen sighed. "Well... there is one thing..."
"What?"
Stephen smirked and before Tony could react, Stephen was kissing Tony and Tony was kissing Stephen.
Let's just say, Tony was a happy man when he walked through the door of his house, humming a love song and only smiling at Peter when he asked why his father was so happy.
ONE YEAR LATER
The door to Tony and Peter's apartment slammed open.
Peter, who was sitting on the couch, watching BBC Sherlock, jumped and screamed.
He looked over the couch only to see his dad and Stephen standing together with matching goofy smiles on their faces.
"GEEZ You scared me!"
"Peter!" Tony chimed, ignoring Peter's exclamation.
"What?" Peter asked, pausing his show with mild -just kidding, a lot- of annoyance. "I'm watching Sherlock! What do you want-"
Tony thrust out his hand where on his ring finger sat a metal engagement ring. "Meet your new step-dad!"
"WHAT-"
Stephen's mutter of "I was in that show-" was left ignored as Peter and Tony fawned over the latter's ring.
