the faerie curse
out of the hill, she heard them come,
lilting footsteps to a solitary drum,
she wished to join in their twinkling laughs
indulge in their wine from sparkling carafes
the girl drew closer, breaking a twig
in surprise, her eyes grew big
the faerie queen, with a face serene
asked alond"who may our guest be?"
"adelide, queen," she whispered soft,
"if I dance tonight, will I be lost?"
the faerie's thorn crown glittered,
though the queen's hardly flittered
"oh child, you'll forever be found,
if with us you'd dance around"
adelide stepped out to the light
her hair reflected a moonlight white
"why, such a lovely girl," the fae queen crooned
without a doubt, the young girl swooned
she ate and waltzed and spun,
for the night was still young
through the dark she danced till day
till the faerie curse took her away
